A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; even as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. (John 13:34)
He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling him. (1 John 2:10)
Two biblical verses that exemplify Christ call for brotherly love.. I have lately been reading the brothers karamazov and I cannot help myself but give perseus and arcturus the dynamic of alyosha and ivan (well. losely). Have you read it?
I specifically adore the kiss they share on the Grand Inquisitor chapter when Ivan discusses the existence of God with his younger brother, then as an act of unconditional love, like God did with the Inquisitor, Alyosha kisses his brother on the lips. Reminded me a lot of what I imagine Arcturus and Perseus bond would be like. Do you think the wizards pray to a God? I can see perseus being a character devoted to faith and attributed Jesus-like qualities.. kind, loving and sensitive but nonetheless unable to stop his siblings’ suffering. I also believe the incest and the lust would make him spiral Hard and question himself and his faith and where he stands… possibly turning him on the darker side and abandoning his previous beliefs, devoting himself to a completely different cause (aka, his sister). I’ve many thoughts for his character..
Also Ivan, like I imagine Arcturus does, symbolises doubt. specifically in faith but I do not believe that is exactly arcturus’ case. I think perhaps Ivan's main problem is that he wants to understand and comprehend everything. This can actually be said to be the very characteristic of his intellectualism that is the source of his problems. He wants to accept faith through knowledge and awareness, whereas faith comes exactly when knowledge and reason do not give a complete answer. In fact, faith comes to fill the gaps of the mind and reason and to cover the inner void of humans. On the other hand, Ivan does not want to pay attention to the fact that in matters where he is curious (the existence of God and divine wisdom), absolute knowledge and awareness of it mean the meaninglessness of life. Because if he gains knowledge about all these matters, then decision-making becomes meaningless because there will be only one possible answer. In a way this feels like Arcturus doubts and cowardice on where he stands in the war, who he stands and fights for.. he wants clear answers on everything and when he cannot get them. he spirals and bails. and returns to lead a comfortable life where he is aware and in control of every problem and situation. The struggle God vs Devil Ivan faces can simplified to The Good and The Dark side for Arcturus. I do not know if I am making any sense at all😭
I quite like Arcturus and Perseus being mirrors of eachother and symbolising unconditional love.
you sent this to me when i was on my break at work and i’ve read it like ten times since then. do you like want full custody of the regcissa children because im fully prepared to to allow it. oh my god
#like i don’t know what to say……#im speechless.#guys. im getting emotional.#i can’t believe the lives we’ve given these fake children of a fictional non canon ship#fandom is a BEAUTIFUL PLACE !!!!!!!#i love the idea of some sort of religion/a god that wizards pray to#<- and especially within pureblood culture#and perseus being a believer growing up. sort of similar to alicents religious guilt. being repressed in that way#and slowly losing touch with his god / descending into madness (aka devotion towards his sister)#whereas arcturus represents like. love & companionship & brotherhood to perseus#arcturus is someone perseus identifies with and feels a kinship with#and vega represents his perversions and lust and desires#<- because misogyny. lol#perseus doesnt see vega as a person!!!!!#and the arcturus/ivan parallells. it’s making me fucking sick to my stomach#i haven’t read brothers karamazov but ive been meaning to for the longest time#the brotherly kiss to show unconditional love / the biblical meaning behind it has convinced me#i can picture it so clearly with perseus&arcturus#right now im reading strangers on a train#and then im gonna read the passenger & stella maris#<- im on an incest media journey.#and then i PROMISE i will read brothers karamazov#thank you for this lovely ask im obsessed with you forever#lets hold hands.#regcissa marriage au#karamazov anon

Thinking again about this common theme of like, Franziska being less of a "genius" than Miles. When like objectively it's just untrue! I mean she became a prosecutor when she was only 13 (in the same year Miles became one at 20), she only had wins up until Phoenix (just like Miles or her father) and she still feels like she's lagging behind, like she's not catching up. And no one disputes this! No one even tries to make her feel this isn't the case. I'm going to explode.
#and of course the answer is misogyny! people don't treat her like miles even though she is objectively more successful than him#its the same reason she has her whip the same reason she tries to emulate her fathers tactics but no one ever takes her seriously#they don't treat her with as much respect they talk down to her#even her own father seems to prefer her new brother because as a man he can emulate him better#sorry this is not particularly insightful lol i just needed to get this out of my system#ace attorney#franziska von karma

i know other people are tired of female characters having stories revolving motherhood but god it is so nice to get stories about it that are actually... written with care? i imagine some of the fatigue around these stories is bc of how it's done with the assumption that all women must be or want to be mothers or it's done without any actual examination of the woman's characterization--and i also get tired of those! but there are so many female characters who specifically do not have or want kids as well these days, so i am glad that we can have a balance of ones who are fine without kids but also ones who are well-written as mothers??? idk. it makes me happy that we can have both, because parenthood will always be a thing, even if some people... equate their own preference of avoiding those stories altogether with automatic misogyny when a story does include it at all.
#txt#just. finishing up agatha and there are so many characters who fit that same vibe as her as having angst around motherhood#like oddly there is a big pattern with a lot of my witch blorbos having a big piece of their characterization be because of having lost#a child - taryn / vera / serafina / etc#aND i never got the sense that those characters... got their actual personhoods overshadowed by that facet of their story#(and those shows also have women who do not have kids in them!)#i guess what i just am always reminded of--speaking of hdm--is how mad hdm fans got when marisa's#promotional poster's descriptor was “mother” meanwhile asriel's was... adventurer or something?#like “how dare they reduce a woman to motherhood!” when............................. her whole story did revolve around#un-suppressing her fucked up emotions and wanting to learn how to be a mother to lyra#(WHILE tons of other well written women in that story had 0 kids lol)#it wasn't reducing her to motherhood it was developing her around a core facet of her life in a way that#ngl i felt was meaningful bc of it playing against misogynistic expectations as well#she couldn't be a mother to lyra bc she was made a pariah for things men got away with. she didn't get a choice in that really.#her actually... choosing... lyra... on her own volition despite the consequences... was actually rly fucking cool#anyway i'm just. thinking about this bc of finishing up agatha rn where i can just imagine that#some people were pissed about the nicky and billy thing (i do not care to actually look but i knowwww if i were to#search twitter i'd see annoying takes)#because i understand we are still building up to equality in media where we do get stories focused on powerful (and queer!!) women#and knowing fandom i just. know. people probably thought the motherhood aspect ruined it bc it isn't the story They wanted#idk trying not to make up a guy to get mad at but unfortunately i know im not making it up js;ldfljsdflkj#ANYWAY ALL THAT TO SAYYYYY i am rly glad that AAA has done this so well#as opposed to being done without thought to motherhood being optional#(even though im sure some people will still treat any portrayal of motherhood as though it was done with unchecked misogyny)#it just makes Me personally happy to have this#anyway#disk horse#kinda?????? im complaining so i'll just. put that there for filtering.#i may not be making much sense either im only running on caffeine rn <33

i'm in no way a "discourse" blog (and i think that's a very juvenile way of looking at discussion of bigotry) i just get mad super easily and there are many things on this website to get mad about. Did anyone know this
#broadcast#mutuals/followers/visitors if you don't want to see these posts i generally tag them w whatever bigotry's on display#transmisogyny...misogyny...racism..etc.#and posts about transandrophobia are tagged as such not because i believe in that axis of oppression but so that ppl can filter them out#also. because it forces the people who do believe in it to either see my posts or block me lol
