i wanna write more analysis-adjacent posts about regretevator but i always feel like i'm cornplating and overthinking the funny bobox game where you have to escape the great gungler (the big triangle that screams at you if you don't collect all five googoos) so i just Don't. like i would be more confident about it if it was about characters like folly and mach who are clearly meant to be Well Written And Interesting but unfortunately i've latched onto characters like infected who mostly exist for Haha Funnies. i watched a video about 3d workers island (good project btw you should check it out) and how the story is largely about people subconsciously projecting a narrative with no real basis onto an extremely simple game/program and i saw that and went. damn. i do that shit all the time. maybe the funny leetspeak man who sneezes and makes source missing texture appear on the walls isn't a representation of self-destruction and escapism through nostalgia, and i just made all that shit up because of my own unresolved mental problems. the game's still in a weird in-between state (you could even say it's........ Liminal.......) between things having narrative weight and things only existing to be funny, so i have a hard time telling what actually means something and what doesn't. is that a problem with the game's tone like i initially talked about, or am i just a big stupidhead blaming my own inability to interpret things on the writers?? what is and isn't just another red sphere of falseness?? how many red balls are sitting at the bottom of the ocean?? who knows ............

you think i wouldn't be having this problem after over a decade of over-analyzing object shows that was eventually proven to have merit but alas.
