me when . i wanna yap about eugene and sunny bc i'm thinking about them again and i like writing about them together bc i think more people should explore their dynamic since there's a lot to work with i feel but i don't feel like writing any of my list of one-shots ideas i have for them rn (...and also bc i need to finish up writing fine, great bc sighs i guess i'm almost done with that fic /lh)

...so of course i'm rambling about them on tumblr and making it everyone's problem . sorry i think about their friendship so much so i need to put my messy rambles in the tags

i don't think i've made it any secret that eugene and sunny are my favourites from this game and like. i Do really love their individual characters obviously but honestly thinking about their dynamic (or at least. potential one pre-sunshine update bc there wasn't thaaat much) made me like them more tbh?

like. i think it's very interesting how landkeepers in general and eugene's feelings of emptiness and needing a purpose are meant to parallel one another, and the sunshine update pretty much indirectly confirmed that with the lore regarding landkeepers, to me at least. eugene's whole arc of finding purpose in creating the community garden, by putting good in the world instead of trying to force himself to fit a hero role placed upon himself by his own standards. landkeepers being ordinary people turned into mammon's vessels, their misery being taken advantage of and made only to serve one purpose. and then there's sunny, being someone who was forced into the role of being mammon's pawn, to be someone who someone else wanted her to be.

even if the circumstances are different, i think it's definitely worth looking into the fact that they both are forced to play roles that aren't them - and how they eventually grow past that with help, with eugene eventually opening up to the player leading up to the garden scene, and sunny becoming more confident in being sunny. and i don't know, it's just...very interesting to me that they have things in common there, and it's something that i think about even more now that sunny's a partner. because with her added dialogue, i don't think it's far-fetched to say that it's implied that she's the closest with kayleigh and eugene? after all, her 5 hearts cutscene directly names them, and she even has exclusive dialogue if you've romanced either of them. which...honestly makes sense, considering kayleigh and eugene are always in the cutscenes for sunny's initial quest, while any other partner you might bring is optional. and sunny's dialogue if you romance eugene, it's...actually pretty interesting to me?

for those who haven't seen it, this is it:

"You and Eugene are close, aren’t you? I thought so. Eugene is sure of himself in many ways, and not so much in others… I think you are someone who would help bring out the best in him. The two of you are a good pair, I believe…"

idk, it made me think a lot since...sunny directly calls attention to his struggles. but in the kayleigh romance exclusive dialogue, she doesn't - she comments on how she's happy that two of her friends are close, and mentions how having a bond like that sounds nice. but with eugene, she brings up his struggles, even if not naming them.

which i think about a lot, considering...how closely guarded eugene seems to be regarding those. it takes until his quest is complete for those insecurities to come to light, and for most, that fight is typically one of the last archangels you'll fight (...assuming you're playing the game normally. i did not play this game normally bc mammon was the 3rd archangel i fought iirc). it takes an archangel for him to finally let his guard down enough and talk about his insecurities, even if only for a little. and while yeah, i'm sure sunny might also just be observant about those sort of things, i think it...also kind of indirectly shows that there's definitely some level of trust that he's probably let his guard down around her enough to at least give her some sort of hint about that? if not just briefly talking about it with her.

and by that alone it's enough for me to think, "oh, they're probably close in some way then", but it makes me think more when it comes down to their history with one another while on new wirral. because until sunny stumbled into the cafe and got a makeover, they were pretty much enemies until then. which makes the potential dynamic between them very interesting to me, since there's more of a history there that's more personal - especially with sunny being confirmed to be one of the landkeepers eugene confronts in the beginning cutscene, and with landkeepers paralleling what eugene thinks about himself, with him being a hollow person and all. so their cafe interaction makes me think a lot about sunny's lines during it, particularly when she brings up how she's glad that they're friends now.

this isn't even getting into their one date cutscene, because there's...definitely a bit i can pull from with that too. or at least stuff i can pick out and make educated guesses on. even though i generally don't look at it considering i romance eugene on almost all of my saves lol

...but can i just say right off the bat that the fact that eugene probably was the one to ask her out on the date in the first place is crazy to me bc like. looks at him. looks at his romance route. i struggle to believe that /hj

that aside, i think the fact that they can go on a date if you don't romance eugene kind of...says something in of itself about the fact that they're close? idk. i know you don't need to be close in order to go on a date with someone, but i feel like with how eugene acts with romance in general (just. very nervous about it) and that sunny does outright call them friends, i don't think it's unreasonable to guess that they're pretty friendly with one another? also when considering that sunny did say she enjoyed the date, even if the outcome was a "i don't think i'm currently ready for this" thing. like i think with knowing what was given with eugene's romance route and the fact that sunny did agree in the first place, i want to assume that they're. definitely close to some degree by that point

all of this is to say, i really do like what's presented in-game with eugene and sunny's relationship and thinking about it more in-depth with the scenes given. there's something very interesting to me about exploring their relationship given their similarities and their history together, so i think i'm always gonna gravitate towards writing about them in my one-shots no matter what because of that, lol (...you can tell bc i think it's. quite literally my own fault that the eugene & sunny tag on ao3 is canonized now. bc i keep writing about them. the power of autism i guess). something about how they both were or felt empty, needed some form of purpose in their lives and was given that through the landkeepers in their own ways, but grew as people once they were given the chance to properly break away from that mold that was presented as the only option for themselves (or at least, with how eugene seemed to view his vigilante act with the landkeepers while he was stuck on new wirral).

i wanted to yap about these two, since. i don't see a lot of stuff about these two specifically that isn't from me yelling about them, lmao (wonderful reminder of my wof dragonslayer days, really /hj). and when i do see the rare thing it's usually about the date scene or shipping. which i personally don't care much for even if romantic sunny/eugene has grown on me a little bit (bc sunny and eugene will always be queerplatonic to me always and forever sorry). but also i just generally like seeing stuff about these two so i guess that doesn't matter too much atp lol

percy is incredibly misunderstood by his whole family pretty much always, they all avoid him or are rude to him or just misunderstand him completely. with oliver's proximity its very likely hes the first person ever in percys life to properly observe him and understand him!!!

percy is the most career driven singleminded ambitious motherfucker in gryffindor.... second only to oliver!!! who is the most quidditch obsessed bitch on this planet and arguably has more solid career goals of anyone in that entire series. they are hyperfocused! they are girlbossing! they are not getting a wink of sleep bc they both get so lost in their work they forget what time is!

classic jock/nerd combo except oliver is a jock who is secretly a nerd (think of all the quidditch stats!!) and percy is a nerd who is secretly a jock (percy is a master spellcaster and nobody can convince me otherwise, that man fought multiple death eaters on his own at the battle of hogwarts and you do not get that kind of skill from just sitting behind a desk)

idk theres honestly a lot of directions one could take them but theyve just got so much chemistry and so much in common but also different and theyve got so much potential

percy and oliver meet post-war and help each other get their lives moving forward again, its very well written and very sweet but mind the tags its kinda heavy at points, it doesnt shy away from how hard the war was on everyone but the community that the weasleys and the quiddich players have is very warm and i love it

Well here I am (ONS chapter 128)

Ok I'm finally writing out my thoughts about ONS' 128. Idk how long it'll come out (extremely long as I'm writing it it seems...) and also as always I want to hear others' opinions on this, but as a warning it will be mostly negative. I actually did a similar post back at the start of the year with BSD, but BSD at least managed to bounce back full force and do what it needed to do while ONS shows no signs of that.

I'll break it down into the following points:

>I'm also getting tired of the flashbacks (as many already did)

>I miss the Shinoa squad (will touch upon Mitsuba specifically and y'all probably know why)

>The belief that MikaYuu fans are getting much better content and why I think that's bs (will probably mention my theorem of "Mika, along with literally all the women of the franchise, got hit with the mysoginy stick")

So let's go I guess, under the cut so I don't clutter my non-ONS followers' dash.

>The flashbacks: I... Did not mind them up unti now, if I've got to be honest. Let's be serious here everyone probably expected a batshit crazy backstory for the characters, ESPECIALLY Yuu and Mika, and that's what made me not really complain. Now it has been like? 8 chapters of ONLY flashbacks??? Only things of the past with NO break and NO POV switches to at least let us know wtf is going on in the outside world. Christ. The fact that irritates me the most is that all of this adds nothing to the plot either!!! What are the MCs supposed to do now that they've seen one of them (WHO HAS BEEN 4 DIFFERENT SPECIES TOO SINCE THE START OF THE SERIES???) sacrifice for the 3rd time!!!! AND IN THE PAST AT THAT!!!! HOW IS THIS USEFUL FOR THEM OR ANY OF US AGHHFHGHHG. We got other gays going at it tho and that's just funny to me. This is just a BL masked as a battle shonen lmaoooo.

So since I came back after my rewatch and catch up to this manga which resulted in hyperfixation again I noticed that the narrative of MikaYuu shippers getting better content cus a lot of the chapters now focus on them is... common. And for a while I just thought "ok" and moved on but now I'm fully on convinced it's just. Not true. Not because the content isn't there, I would be lying if I said that, but because it's... Not good. Good content, for me (as someone who clearly loves these two if you scroll for even 2 minutes down my fucking tag), would be seeing actual growth between them, some actual substance in what they are doing as of rn, and we are not getting any of that. Since when did we see them actually DO something? Last time we saw Yuu in his actual body and actually saying something was last chapter and he was EATING. Then we went back to them just passively staring at everything that went on. And to add onto this, I dislike demon Mika as a plot IN GENERAL because it recessed any development both for HIM and for Yuu himself. Yuu acts stupid (wtf happened to him after Nagoya I'm being so serious Nagoya Yuu I miss you so much) as shit cus anyway Mika IS strong enough to let him get away with it but not enough to oppose Yuu at some point and this was addressed as a problem for like 2 seconds and then nothing. Oh my God. And not only that but this fucking thing also shows that Mika did, indeed, also get hit with a mysoginy beam, but that's another topic I want to talk about in another post if anyone even really cares about it.

So... Yeah. I'm not tired (I only started catching up in March after my rewatch, so I'm still curios about how this will go), but I AM sad. I really miss the earlier arcs and the potential they all had that now seems like a long lost memory. Can we all collectevely just go back to the Nagoya one like if the series stuck to that path I would be able to excuse its flaws up until a point because GOD. The eyeball with its Seraph shit or whatever the hell it was doing was cool tho.

it's smut. 17/18 fics are tagged smut and i know the one that isn't is boyish which is tagged eventual smut so does it really count... then behind that is pwp with 13 my bad. i mean all of my fics are rated e this should not be a surprise

20. Have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?

yes... for sure... i am a creature of habit. idk how obvious it is but i definitely get attached to certain words and expressions for a while and esp when i'm writing a lot in a short period of time i feel like i'm being super redundant. i cannot think of any examples rn BUT! i will say as for common settings i love writing things that take place in the summer. my book is summer both my sargewood fics are summer (or mostly summer) and idk if anyone has noticed but i can and will write like eight billion summer scenes in boyish chapters lol

summer isn't even my favorite scene but i love writing summer... sticky sticky heat. sticky is a word i like/use a lot also. one of my friends wants me to die for it i should put boyish in one of those word cloud things actually. that would be fun

ah i'm glad my description of build was intriguing enough for you! i hope i didn't seem like i was laying it on too thick with my constantly paralleling and comparing it to aa though - i mean at first glance, the narratives of aa and build could not seem more different, but in hindsight they both prominently deal with the concepts of truth, justice, corruption, redemption/atonement, identity, and family and friendship in their own ways (though ig that's probably true of kr in general, which then makes sense as for how toku would feature as a major element in many aa cases), even if not always perfectly in either series, but the effort is generally appreciated and still pretty compelling imo. and i really love aa too (i actually discovered your blog and your twitter through your very cool and beautiful aa fanart a while back, and then when i started watching cm, i was pleasantly surprised to also see your fanart in the tumblr tags, so it was nice to see some of my interests align with that of an artist i liked and followed <3) so finding ways to make analogies between whatever i'm currently into with one of my favorite franchises ever seemed like the natural next step haha [2/?]

and hell yeah feel free to join me in the madness ^_^ toku can be one hell of a rabbit (lol) hole though, so it might lead you to become interested in other shows and movies of the medium/genre, in which case we'll be in this together as i'm also still beginning to get into other kr shows in particular (like after i finish build, i think i'll be focusing on the earlier heisei seasons of ooo, den-o, or maybe kuuga). as for where to watch it, i don't have one particular strong rec for a site rn, but what i've gone for are kissasian (kissasian . fm/info/kamen-rider-build) or toku . fun (toku . fun/post/watch-online-kamen-rider-build-full-series-49-episodes-english-sub) - obviously kissasian is more of a general site for which to watch asian dramas on, but that's if you don't mind ads popping up every so often and also the subs used are not very consistent like the source for one episode's translation could be a different team/person from the previous episode's, whereas toku . fun is specifically an archive for toku shows and movies, and is more consistent with the subs and is basically ad-free iirc, albeit i think i've also heard said subs on there described as 'usually the most accurate but also the least funny/entertaining' (ig bc tvnihon, their source, tends to err on the side of 'purism' when translating), so whichever is more your style in the end? i personally switch back and forth between the two sites, purely on the basis of if there's a translation i'm not satisfied with, even if i don't know how actually accurate it is lol on a side note, build's opening song 'be the one' by pandora feat. beverly is a nice jam, and it has an official english version where i think the lyrics (+ the original japanese version too) are something that would make one come to realize just how much they fit sento and banjou's relationship by the end of the show :') [6/?]

and thanks again for giving me the go-ahead to keep on rambling ^_^ moving on to build's female characters: there are only 2 really prominent female characters (a few others pop up here and there, or have relatively big roles for an arc or 2, but not throughout the whole show), misora (as mentioned before) and sawa. imo, both are treated decently, being fun and interesting characters with their own arcs not purely tied to the men (although obviously romance with men or the lack thereof are not inherent markers of the quality of a female character's writing, it's worth noting that neither of them are written as love interests (so you'll never get the sense that they get reduced to just that role) to any male character - but tbf, kr and other popular toku aren't really big on romance, even the het ones, in the first place, maybe bc of some japanese cultural conventions or something, but i've heard that the few canon m/f relationships that are present are usually not written very well, which is once more very shounencore of them lol - although unfortunately, there is a guy with a frankly kinda creepy and annoying parasocial crush on misora which most of the other characters don't care for either but it's still played off as comic relief, kinda larry-like in that sense if we're comparing it to aa again, and that's definitely one of the show's major drawbacks; i mean i still think build is overall worth the watch, and again, since you've gone through all of aa already, you'd be a veteran wrt this kind of trope, but regardless i think it's good to give some warning in advance to help you prepare for some of the shit that's about to go down) plus misora and sawa are eventually shown having a personal relationship/friendship with each other outside of the men too :-) however, overall they're still kinda underutilized and underdeveloped (sawa in particular) compared to the guys, plus neither of them are riders, though in kr, that's also definitely not an automatic indicator for whether a female character will be well-written or not, but then again, since we're both aa fans, i'm sure we're already very familiar with the feeling of seeing interesting and compelling female characters not get their full due from their writers, so based on that, build is survivable for sure 😔 [7/?]

and idk how well they would fare next to female characters from other kr seasons, but i also think it's worth pointing out that, for all that build's writer/s are clearly still not immune to misogyny, misora and sawa's overall writing doesn't come off to me as 'so misogynistic it becomes gay' in the vein of idk, naruto or death note, bc again, neither of them were touted as viable love interests to male characters before getting shoved to the side in favor of primarily focusing on homoerotic m/m relationships for most of the story only to still get together with those men in the end, and the only thing build was really marketed as in terms of its relationship writing was the 'heated drama between men' stuff so you already get a sense of what's in store for you from the start, and so ultimately you also don't really feel that annoyed or 'cheated' you know? so there you have it lol. apparently akaso did use the word for 'heatstroke,' but the translator of this interview pointed out on tumblr that it seems like what happened had no actual severe effects on him, so it was likely just heat stress at most and he just said 'heatstroke' to clearly get the point across or something. in general, akaso during his time on build seemed to have a bit of a pattern of saying some kinda out-of-pocket things that would make one go "oh he really had the nerve to go there huh but like... is he wrong?" like when he also infamously claimed at two separate promotional events that banjou was the real 'heroine' of the story (which makes his previous comment to inukai to not add "any unnecessary mental images to the word 'partners'" funnier) 😭 during the first event, he was asked to introduce his character and then himself, and when he said banjou's name, he added that he was the 'heroine,' at which takada kaho (misora's actor) interjected and pointed at herself to say that *she* was playing the 'heroine' and there was a bit of back-and-forth between them as both kept insisting they were the 'heroine' (all in a lighthearted manner ofc) but in the end i think akaso got in the last word before he passed on the mic to takada so she could properly introduce herself this time, although she didn't bring up the heroine stuff again from what i could tell lol. the video i watched from that first event didn't actually have subs, but you could get the gist of it especially since they said 'heroine' in english. as for the second event, i also watched a bit of its video but i don't think i got to the part where he made the comment, so i only saw later on a screenshot from that same video where what he said was translated as "then, when i read the final script, it said that kaho takada was feeling down because banjo ryuga was the heroine." and. well... neither of them are wrong exactly fnsjngkbs. like ofc misora filled the obligatory female lead role, but generally speaking, it seems like it was obvious even among the cast that banjou, in addition to being the typical male co-protagonist like in a 'buddy cop' type of movie or show, was the one pretty much framed as the story's 'heroine,' imo in the style of a shounen anime or manga to sento's shounen protagonist position (well, the shounen animanga with well-written central m/f romances anyway), with the implication of being sento's love interest in all but name officially also. like... it's still very much subtextual but also wow talk about the lack of subtlety here too 😭 and at that second event, there was another comment he made that made me go "okay come on don't do this to us" but it's related to spoilery series-finale and post-series material, so it's probably best that i save discussing it for when you're done watching, if ever. but well yeah i'm kinda obsessed with his mind for all that like. thank you for continuing to help us fans not sound delusional via all these very enlightening comments (i mean aside from how heavy the subtext already was in the actual story) but also what's his issue 😭😭 [11/?]

btw build isn't actually akaso's first kr show - it's amazons, specifically its 2nd season, which also got released in 2017 some months prior to build's airing. amazons is one of those aforementioned more adult-oriented toku webseries and was meant to be a 'darker and more mature reimagining of the 1974 television series, kamen rider amazon,' but it got more mixed reviews overall compared to build, especially since iirc a lot of fans think it didn't handle said darker themes too well or something (there's cannibal cultists?? i think??? idk if akaso's character hiroki was one of them though). but the upside to it is that it was precisely his work on amazons that got akaso cast on build (from what i can tell, hiroki is nowhere near as dumb as banjou, but there's a similar delinquent vibe, albeit hiroki's aesthetic seems to be somewhat edgier). i find it funny though bc hiroki is apparently a 17 year old high schooler, then a few months later akaso made the jump to playing a 23 year old (which was his actual age at the time of filming) ex-pro fighter... the range of this man jwkfjksfdlms [12/?]

on a final side note about something that's not really relevant to all that other stuff but still kinda funny: i just remembered that apparently back when cm was airing, and that moment in ep. 2 (?) where adachi forces the elevator doors open to ask kurosawa out to dinner happened, people were commenting "well that's kamen rider training for you" and yeah i definitely believe banjou could/would have done something like that. though he probably would have punched the doors in the process too, or because he's a dumbass, he might also let himself get accidentally hit by the closing doors and then that's when he'd punch them in response lmao also i think i'll save my further thoughts on the kamen rider yuri and also the few canon lgbt+ characters the series does have so far + the varying qualities with which they've been written for later messages, bc once again this has gotten far too long and there's already a lot of things here for you to process and respond to so. thank you so much again and bye for now 🙏🏼 [13/13]

Its 1000% fair to call out people who are entitled and privileged, esp after generations of discrimination and trauma (Im a poc too and I've had my fair share of marginalisation) but to make such a sweeping statement about a whole race of people...

Theres lovely white people, and I've met some genuinely amazing, down to earth ones throughout my life who couldn't give a shit about what colour my skin is. On the other hand there's other white people who blatantly hate you for looking a certain way.

In the same way, there's amazing poc whilst there's also terrible ones too. I worked in retail for a year and both times I cried was because a POC verbally abusing me. One of my own race, telling me I should take off my hijab because I "don't know manners" after she screamed at me to return her items and I said I wasn't allowed to because she didn't have a tag which funnily enough is also racism.

The only point I'm trying to make is that unironically the world isn't black and white, and I feel like making sweeping statements about a whole race of people just feeds into the vicious cycle of hate that we're all trying to break out of in the first place.

i'm still working out the details of how train masters weapons Work fully but basically i do know that you don't choose your weapon, your weapon chooses you lol. i think once you are nearing graduation at the train academy (it'll get a name i swear), you choose your weapon and start to train with it. all train masters have weapons because in doing train master work one of your biggest responsibilities is protecting the train from harm be it from disasters or Outside Threats. the city/trains can be a bit lawless and gang raids and Creature (idk what they are yet) attacks are common lol. the gems on torment glow when he uses it and its pretty special. i just still gotta figure out the whole thing lol. i do know that in Main Character fashion torment is pretty powerful and so many other train masters are surprised that he has it/it chose him.

hee i'm still working out hue and jihan (i'm doing literally every question from that ship ask i rb'd the other day to learn more about them & its been fun :D) so i'm gonna post that soon lol! but have a LARGE RAMBLE under the cut :D

when things were more stable between them god, they were really good. the two of them have been together for almost 20 years LMAO so they know each other extremely well & they're extremely comfortable around each other. comfortable, as in the can share a look over their kids heads and know what to do to fix or calm a situation. comfortable, as in jihan did hue's ties before work every day and hue has no clue how to tie one without him. comfortable, as in they're still so comfortable around each other. that hue finds it so hard to hold this distance between them after the entire divorce because jihan isn't a partner he fell out of love with, and it hurts how much he knows jihan still loves him. whenever he sees the kids or does something that he would do for hue like before but shies off it physically hurts hue because he still loves him too lol. hue is a MESS rn baybee and jihan is no better.

in terms of favorite things to do together, they love cuddling and napping together, but they're both also really competitive lol so a lot of their date nights were doing something game esque. bowling, paintball, quiz nights, "competitive karaoke" (LOL) they love to do things that get adrenaline pumping and are fun and silly. both being mostly nocturnal they also really like stargazing together :)

i haven't finished thinking about vampires/werewolves (and ig other supernatural creatures/witches) in this world yet BUT when i do i'll definitely tag ya!

so basically with the witch resurgence program, witches and real magic (that isn't species specific) had sort of dwindled out of the world several hundred years ago. people kind of accepted it and let bygones be bygones. however 20 years ago, human children suddenly started being born again with magical aptitude and prowess. got babies sneezing and blowing up buildings LMAO which is NOT GREAT. bc humans aren't necessarily equipped to handle this type of magical ability (though some continue to learn, other parents kind of view it as waaaay more than they can handle) so a special adoption agency was formed. wolves and were-creatures tend to take on a LOT of young witches bc pack bonding mentality, however other creatures will take them on as well. it works on both a volunteer & scouting basis which means there are families who do apply to take care of these babies, but other times if there isn't any volunteers or there's more demand than there are volunteers, those in the agency will seek out supernatural families or couples to see if they can foster children for a bit since the govt is still trying to grapple with this whole situation. that's what happened with hue and jihan (though they have formally adopted esther and ozzy). as a recently wed supernatural couple + one being a wolf & one being a vampire (who has known witches with magic in his lifetime) it made them great candidates to raise some witch kiddos if they were willing. hue, coming from a large family was down with it but he wasn't sure about how jihan would feel about starting a family. but jihan wants to do everything with hue, he loves him so dearly. so he was down to raise some kids lol. they were given esther first, who is a particularly powerful baby (and probably good that jihan, a pretty old fuck whos seen magic enough to know some bits and bobs about this) but her bio parents actually ended up having another child a few years later that ALSO had magic - ozzy. instead of separating the two sisters, they thought it'd be better to home them together so that's how they got ozzy. as the girls got older and their magic has become more stable, they started to meet with their bio parents. while they don't really view them as their mom and dad, they are creating a good budding relationship with them :D there's also talks of a magic school being in the works! though that's gonna be wild because... there hasn't been magic for so long so who's gonna teach it ?? lol?? so yeah that's just kind of the gist sorry this was so long;;;

one of my biggest regrets is that I didn't watch kny mugen train in the cinemas because when I finally watched it at home with my headphones the audio was so damn good and I was literal TEARS (mostly because it was so painful to watch but yes also good audio) the experience would've been so much more impactful surrounded by it in the cinema (｡•́︿•̀｡) ANYWAY I digress season 2 yess!!
