One thing I find jarring when playing Fallen Order and Survivor back-to-back, is how Cal goes from having very dark, coal grey eyes to bright green eyes in the span of five years. I’m curious to hear your thoughts on why Respawn made this change, and if you prefer one eye color over the other.

Love this question! There's a few things that impact the design changes between FO Cal and Survivor Cal.
The biggest change is how the two games handle their overall color. Cal's eyes have always been somewhat green, but Fallen Order's visual design is a muted color palette with darker shadows. That "look" fit the story Respawn was telling, and Cal spends much of FO exploring darker spaces like scrapyards, tombs, ice caves, and Imperial facilities. Very few of the game's cutscenes take place in well-lit spaces.
Cal's character design also includes a strong brow, and because of how Fallen Order renders light, his eyes are often in shadow. Add in stylized environmental lighting (the red tint of Dathomir, the blue-green of Zeffo tombs) and the iris quickly loses its green-gray tint.

Survivor has a more vibrant color palette and more complicated lighting, including how Cal's eyes catch and reflect light. More of the story takes place outdoors, and indoor spaces generally have more lighting. Also did I say vibrant?? Just look at how bright the SU poncho is compared to its (almost navy blue) FO counterpart.

Visual design is also influenced by time and technology: AAA games have changed a lot between 2019 and 2023, and the methods of rendering light/color/texture in real-time are growing exponentially.
Comparing a similar environment (the couch on on the Mantis) makes the color/lighting changes really obvious. It's easy to say new = better, and from a strictly technical standpoint that may be true, but I appreciate the thoughtfulness of Fallen Order's color and how the color stylization served the story. But that's probably a whole separate post.

TLDR; the design difference is likely a mix of technical advances and intentional color choices by Respawn's art teams. But I do like the bright green eyes! They look more green-blue in shadow and gold-green in direct sunlight, which is a neat effect.

A Hungarian-born American artist, Agnes Denes (b. 1931) is a pioneer in environmental, ecological, and conceptual art. Her family survived the Nazi occupation in WWII and migrated to Sweden before settling in the United States.
In 1982, Denes planted a 2-acre wheatfield on a landfill in Manhattan two blocks away from the Wall Street and the World Trade Center. Against the backdrop of Wall Street, this golden wheatfield stood for four months and mesmerized many New Yorkers. Denes said in regard to this work, “… the work had to have a meaning, a strong message, and, of course, the paradox. … the work turned out to be one block from Wall Street, facing the Statue of Liberty, for which this country stands, in the middle of traffic in a bustling city. A large golden field of grain on land meant for the rich, on expensive real estate.” (From an interview with Ulrich Obrist)
Today, more than forty years after she created this monumental work entitled “Wheatfield – A Confrontation: Battery Park Landfill, Downtown Manhattan,” her vision touches even more deeply given the ever-increasing degradation of our environment, the ongoing mismanagement of land and food systems, and the widening divide between the poor and the wealthy—all the result of corporate capitalism, as well as geopolitical control of resources.
Denes said that this work represented “food, energy, commerce, world trade, economics” and referred to “mismanagement, waste, world hunger.” She also said, “My decision to plant a wheatfield in Manhattan, instead of designing just another public sculpture, grew out of the longstanding concern and need to call attention to our misplaced priorities and deteriorating human values.”
At the age of 88, Denes finally had her retrospective at the Shed in New York in 2019. This publication presents more than 130 works from the exhibition, spanning the artist’s entire 50-year career.

Endermen

Endermen are a sapient but elusive species, their breeding grounds and realm of origin are unknown, but their natural range as adults spans over the whole overworld and parts of the nether, notably preferring warped forests, likely do to their colder temperatures relative to the rest of the nether. Endermen seem to be adapted to cold weather, with short but dense fur, thick manes, and very few inbuilt measures to let off heat. They are ambush predators that use their teleportation, long and sharp claws, and strong, distendable jaws to catch and effectively dispatch their prey. 
Most medical information about endermen come from observations of them in the wild or autopsies preformed prior to the 1952 Sapient Speicies Protection Act, meaning medical information on them is sparse and unreliable. Details of their lifecycle, like almost everything about them, are unknown to overwolders and neither residents; this includes any details on breeding, birth, and typical upbringing, along with any rituals around death and grief. Ranboo is the only known example of an endermen raised in the overworld. 
Ranboo is an uncommon example of an endermen, as they were left at a safe haven, a practice never seen before or since. It is unknown why this strange action was taken by their caretaker.
Ranboo has several things setting them apart from the examples of endermen typically seen. 
The first and most obvious is their partial albinism. This seems to be due to a mosaic mutation and may be the cause of their abandonment. This condition seems to be the cause of their unusual fur and eye coloration, and causes some issues in their day to day life, including eyestrain, light sensitivity, and increased risk for sunburn and possibly skin cancer on their albino side.
The second is their memory problems. Ranboo struggles with long term memory, frequently having large gaps in awareness and struggling to remember personal details. They do not seem to struggle as much with non personal details, and their problem solving and logical deduction skills are excellent, so the problem does seem to be isolated to their memory. It is unknown if this is a normal condition among endermen, an inborn condition, or a result of their environment.
Finally, Ranboo lacks the ability to teleport. It is unknown if this is an inborn inability, due to lack of other endermen in their life to teach them, or a result of other environmental factors.
Due to their various disabilities and concern about them fitting in as a rare hybrid type, Ranboo’s adoptive parents have elected to enroll them in a homeschooling program.

I think I'd go crazy. The United States President isn't 'supposed' to be able to do a lot. Like, that's kinda designed in and most presidents use an inordinate amount of executive orders, and I feel like I'd have a problem with both feeling like I have to and feeling like it's wrong to. Especially since the next guy could just throw it all out.
I think I'd also go mad from dealing with opposing views. I'd probably be the most talkative president ever, going about congress and asking to speak with almost everyone, hopefully in an effort to get people to be personable again. I'm pretty open-eared, and can accept a good bit of opposing opinion, and have found myself to be movable on many points I may have been staunch on. With this, I think I'd be more centrist and hopefully able to drag both sides back together again to get stuff done, if that's still even possible. I also think there's a lot of people who are just dumb, impolite, or are so dug-in that I'd go crazy talking to them.
I really like our democracy, I think it works pretty well most of the time, but I think it's really hard to do useful stuff thanks to people being so diametrically opposed nowadays. I don't like that. It's my least favorite part. Why don't we just...not do that? Why don't we agree on what should be simple stuff? My logical little otter brain just can't handle it.

If I was given dictatorial powers, I'm pretty sure I'm a very left-leaning one. We're talking immediate environmental protections, funding to infrastructure, and heavy-handed regulation of out-of-control corporations.
I...probably would make a bad dictator. The economy is a strong force, and I think most of my policies (outside of infrastructure investment) would probably result in pretty bad economic outcomes when enacted too quickly. However, if my term was long enough, I'd span them out as much as possible so that the positive effects are done with the fewest economic effects.
Politics isn't my thing. I like discussing them, but really dislike them and the idea of being in congress, having watched enough C-SPAN to make me question my sanity. I'm more of a small-town politics thing. Local policies catch my attention more, and I feel like I can effect them more. I could be convinced into being a city or county mayor, but that's probably the realistic limit for me.

The Maya used copal resin for both ritual and practical purposes. It was often burned as incense in religious ceremonies, but in a solid form, it was an adhesive for binding materials such as stone and wood.
The Aztecs also exploited natural resins, particularly pine resin. Pine resin was commonly mixed with natural powders like ash or powdered stone to enhance its adhesive properties. This combination was often applied to tools, pottery repairs, or affixing feathers and stones to wooden or clay artifacts.

In some pre-Columbian cultures, animal-based adhesives were also used, although these were less documented than plant resins. Several archaeological findings highlight the importance of adhesives in pre-Columbian material culture. Below are examples of how various civilizations across the Americas used adhesives.
Maya Copal Resin
The Maya extensively used copal resin for ceremonial incense and as an adhesive for repairing ceramics and affixing small decorative stones or shells to larger objects. For instance, archaeologists have found examples of jade and shell inlays on wooden objects in Maya tombs held in place by hardened copal resin.
Aztec Featherwork
Featherwork, a vital art form in Aztec and Maya civilizations, required adhesives to attach vibrant bird feathers to textiles, shields, and headdresses. Unit 02 Blog Post
When I envision my ideal role as an environmental interpreter, I envision myself working with young learners, and I see myself teaching subjects like zoology and entomology. In previous experiences I've had working with children, I have found immense gratification in fostering an interest in science. In the context of environmental interpretation, I believe that nurturing a love for nature and interest in wildlife would provide me with a similar sense of fulfillment.
This past summer, I had the opportunity to work as a community presenter for the charity Scientists in School, where I traveled around the GTA conducting hands-on STEM workshops for school-age kids. The most rewarding part of that experience was witnessing the eyes of the children I was working with light up as they discovered the wonders of science beyond what is taught in a classroom. I believe that environmental interpretation for children could evoke the same excitement, making it an ideal career path for me.
Today’s children are increasingly influenced by technology and as a result are often spending less time outdoors, likely missing out on many opportunities to create personal connections in nature. I believe this generation would greatly benefit from engaging with nature through environmental interpretation. Teaching them to respect and appreciate their natural surroundings also fosters empathy—an essential component of their development.
To thrive in a role teaching children, several key skills are essential. First, being prepared and understanding the subject matter is crucial. Children are so inquisitive; they are always asking (sometimes unexpected) questions, so being able to answer them in an engaging and age-appropriate manner is super important. Next, strong presentation and communication skills are also necessary to keep young audiences with short attention spans engaged and interested. Patience is another important quality; kids often take more time to grasp concepts, and so encouraging their curiosity requires a supportive approach. Lastly and perhaps most importantly, being passionate about the subject matter is essential. Children are perceptive and can sense when someone lacks enthusiasm for what they are teaching. To truly engage them, one must authentically demonstrate spirit and passion for the environmental facet they are interpreting.
I am particularly interested in an environmental interpretation role that would focus on fields like zoology and entomology, which I have studied while here at the University of Guelph. Specifically, courses I have taken at Guelph that focused on insects have fundamentally changed my perspective on these creatures and highlighted their vital role in our ecosystems. I would love to help children understand that not all bugs are scary and gross; many are fascinating and play crucial roles in the environment. With a focus on those fields, an environmental interpretation role about insects or wildlife could happen in a number of places, such as nature centers, botanical gardens, zoos and aquariums, local parks, or even schools and community centers. One that I think would work best for this role would be botanical gardens, which often have butterfly gardens and insect exhibits — the perfect environment for doing guided tours and showcasing insects up-close. I would love to teach about their physiology, their roles in pollination and agriculture, and help remove some common negative perceptions of insects. I personally have visited many butterfly sanctuaries and have really enjoyed my time there — the employees always have really interesting stories and information to share about the creatures they care for. I just recently visited one this summer with my housemates, so I have included some pictures from that below!
Children possess an innate eagerness to learn and explore, and I am excited by the concept of an environmental interpretation role that would nurture that desire. The prospect that I could inspire even a tiny interest in nature and wildlife would be immensely rewarding. This is why I believe that a role as an environmental interpreter focused on young learners, combined with subjects I am passionate about like zoology or entomology, would be the perfect fit for me.

irl shit below
im havin real doubts on whether i want to continue with aerospace engineering. im thinking abt possibly switching to poli sci and going for law school to focus on environmental law. i miss writing papers and not just lab reports. and ive always wanted to go into something environmental, i used to want to be an oceanographer when i was a kid
but i cant tell if thats just me running from the grind cuz math aint my strong suit. like i really dont have the attention span to actually do well in calc. and i dont know how im gonna get through the upper div classes when im struggling with calc. but i also dont know if i want to continue with aero eng and sit at a desk and CAD the rest of my life.
if i switch to poli sci i'll miss physics a lot, it's basically the only thing keeping me in engineering and was the first subject i really liked. but rn i really really miss writing. idk what to do. just feeling pretty lost rn like i cant tell if this is me just being lazy and not willing to do the hard work to understand the math or if this is really something i want to do bc i do feel strongly about pushing for change within federal regulations
but i do love space. and i think astronautics is amazing and i dont know if i can just abandon a dream like that. i dont know if im in love with the idea of working with rockets or if i actually have passion for it. im just really uncertain right now and it doesn't help that my cocktail of medication is doing jack shit rn

exactly!!! the fact that he didn’t realise this makes me so sad. like yes of course it worked in his favour but at the same time he was thrown to the wolves for the protection of other players. it wasn’t fair.
i loved your analysis and agree. no matter how strong you are, there’s not a chance in hell you go through what he went through in late 2022 with the media and not get essentially traumatised from it (as much as he is adamant that those times weren’t “dark” for him). the only people that have protected him have been klopp and liverpool fans, period, but on a large scale even that makes little to no difference.

Let me be a little bit more parasocial about this. I really don't think Trent's dumb, but I also don't think his personality type fits his environment.
Sometimes people's emotions get really disregulated and I think he has had his emotions invalidated. And I don't mean that in like 'he can't control his emotions' I mean identifying and understanding his own emotions correctly. So much of his life is defined my performance results. If he won or if he lost. Everything in between isn't talked about. (sure, at home maybe, but even so)
Now, I don't know this man but let me just give you my opinion from an outside perspective as someone who has followed his career, and has watched him for years in turn...
I truly believe he's a reserved, introverted person; he's quiet, laidback, likes time alone. And that doesn't mean he doesn't like his people, or going out, doing things, but he very clearly has stated this. He likes to be alone. There's the Therabody video where he's like "I need to be alone after matches" or just recently Mo was like "well Tent can be moody and quiet so he usually listens while Andy talks." Also, he's notoriously cliquey, and I think it's a safeguarding thing; people he can be comfortable with and feel protected with.
He doesn't have a great attention span, he's very fidgety; like licking his lips, pulling his sleeves over his hands, but I think it's because he's very attuned to his surroundings. You can see he's very "aware" even in the style at which he plays. He's also very meticulous when it comes to "fitting in."
He's very good with people, people always say how polite he is, he's very keen to "please" others. But in my opinion, he's had to do this. It's just human preservation, this is 0 shade to him. It's life conditioning. We all do it, some though, more extreme than others.
And then you take someone who, even with all the travel of playing football for a big club, he still hasn't had to leave his home town, he had grown up in Melwood, a place he lived 10 minutes from, and becoming an adult was what? When they moved to AXA and he got his own house probably 30 min max from his family, and drove himself there? Like, nothing changed environmentally for him. Same manager, same family, same friends, same surroundings. (And I'm not saying he's not well versed in the world)
I know with playing football he's not "home" often but consider something like, birthdays. He's said, he rarely gets to spend his birthday with his family and as hard as that probably is, he also has the continuity of knowing that it has been like that since he was in his early teens. He's comfortable with that because every time, he's had the same people around him for that, in the same places.
So with all that said, at 18 you take someone whose a clear creature of comfort, thrust him into this spotlight where he knows nothing, the only thing he can do is rely on the people around him, fall to this "PR," what people have told him, he's supposed to say, what to do, where to go. The reason imo he even goes to LA is simply because Dele and Jesse Lingard used to go. He is looking to follow suit for safety. I'm sure he likes it, yeah it's fun, but he's said, he also likes the anonymity of going to America.
And I think for an innately reserved person, his body is constantly in abnormally high intensity, and highly spectated situations. It's not "normal" for a human being to know that almost 12 million people are looking at you, and to be able to manage that. That's not what humans were built to endure.
Sometimes I've seen people say in his demeanor he looks rude or he's disinterested, and while, sure maybe that's true some times and it could be down to his resting face, I think often it looks to me like an innate response, his body is telling him "I don't like this, I don't like this." And he's telling himself, yes do because his mind is very hell bent that he does like "this." And those things can coexist but it's very evidently not addressed. It's incredibly invalidating to do that to yourself but also incredibly common.
I think he’s a highly sensitive person. It’s a trait not 'sensitive' just as an adjective. Some key markers 1.He notices everything, he processes information so well. When he speaks you can hear it.  2. He needs or likes down time. After big exertions, he wants to just chill at home.  (I’m going off what he says he does ) 3. He has high intensity emotions, like he is the worst loser… but he also is the worst winner. 4. He’s really doesn’t like to be made fun of. He seems to worry so much about perception and in addition to that he will not let himself get embarrassed, it’s too vulnerable. 5. He's really empathetic to others. He's very close with his family, he created the after academy after seeing what happened to people around him after not making it.
So whether it's "PR" or it's his surroundings, constantly being around groups of boys that are all incredibly likeminded, he has to cling to one of those things and follow suit. It's the only way through all this.
I kid you not, before any footballer's interview, save some, as long as it's in english I could probably tell you exactly what they're going to say. I know what Trent will say in every interview now because it's a script. It's a script he can't stray from.
This isn't to say he lacks personality, I think he does have a personality, and there are so many people, players, staff, friends and family members that have spoken about how lovable and amazing he is. But I think he's stripped of a sense of self when he's in front of a camera now.
All this to say, with everything stacked against him as is, as far as his England NT career, he can't say shit about SG. In his opinion, it was safest not to.
These players can say it doesn't affect them, and to a degree, I'm sure that's true, but at a higher level, I think it's because they don't know it affects them and their environments are telling them, "It doesn't affect you," "it doesn't matter," "block it out," "just don't read it."
When in reality... This is a human being and not only that. He was 18 YEARS OLD in a champions league final. Your brain is not fully developed, not until your mid-to-late 20s... and he just turned 26 so tell me this person is not dealing with some sort of hurt about the possibility of the one constant in his life, the thing keeping him tethered to the comfort of his community, not caring about him- letting him go for free. He's not betraying them! They've betrayed him.
I'm sure there's a big part of him that is excited and wants to go to Madrid, he'll do great but as a young person, there must be equal amount of fear and sadness about leaving his home.
I really feel like in 20 years time we will have documentaries about the mental health of these players. It's so scary and sad to me and so that's why all of this is so insane to me.
Is this over analytical? Yes, massively. Is it boarderline delusional? Also yes. I know I don't know this man! Even so, I still feel like a lot of this is so obviously out in the open. But like many athletes, he's merely a walking money sign to media, to clubs, and sadly, to a lot of people.
End of, I just have a lot of empathy for him, because I think he carries a lot, whether or not he acknowledges it's there or not.
Like I said, I don't know him, this all very well could roll off his back and he be completely okay. And for him, I honestly hope that's the case.

Lifespan: 17 - 30 (wild), 30 - 60 (captive)
Lifecycle
Breeding: Males approach females with bright and flashy expenditures of allocated arcana. If the approach is accepted, the female reciprocates. Others will circle (always anti-clockwise) the vicinity as a defensive ring, as the couple are arcanically spent with courtship. Following, the male grips the female from behind in amplexus for up to thirty hours. Aerolotls typically only mate with those within their herd, though herd interchanges happen often by intention and accident.
Birth: aerolotls start as eggs and develop a soft shell of strong tensile, semi-permeable aquaphobic mucus. These are laid in fast-moving cold fresh water streams in groups of 10 to 12 and gestate for three to five months.
Maturation: 
Stage 1: “Tadpoles” purely aquatic, they hunt by catching small fish and weaker aerolotls in the stream. Tadpoles are often swept away from family units, which usually leads to predation.
Stage 2: “Floaties”: also called “skimmers”, have collected enough allocated elements to hover just over the water. Due to their gills being underdeveloped, they cannot get far without suffocating, using the high humidity above the water to breathe.
Stage 3: “Totsies” are at an age to begin weening and playing, as well as early hivemind hunting behaviors. They lack many fine motor skills and control with their flight, requiring the most parental attention at this stage.
Stage 4: “Play Babies” have reached maximum size and are active and energetic hunters. This is the most sought after stage for owners, as well as where they are most susceptible to rapid adaptations.
Stage 5: “Show Beasts” the last stage at which new herd members can be safely introduced into their daily lifestyles (sans offspring). These are known for their patient maturity combined with their full adult appearance but before the effects of aging are noticeable. This makes them the most amenable to performance. This is not a biological stage, but is observed by enthusiasts.
Stage 6: “Adults” relatively late in their lifecycle compared to most fauna. This is the final form, which have difficulty adapting or changing their habitats. A well cared for adult is capable of surviving for twice as long as their juvenile stages, with later clutches of breeding pairs exhibiting strong survival skills and magic resonance.
Aging: few Aerolotls reach old age as most experience health complications that lead to death. This is thanks to a strong cellular regenerative capacity that would hypothetically allow them to live indefinitely that is entirely biological, as well as recovering lost limbs and organs.
Death: Deceased Aerolotls get dragged into moving bodies of water and guarded for up to ten hours post mortem. It’s unclear if this is ritual or survival.
