How's Ondolemar gonna handle it when Theodora dies of old age?

First, I'll start with their ages. Theodora was born 4E 177, making her 24 at the start of Skyrim and she meets Ondolemar in 4E 204 at 27. They get married when she's 32.

I don't have an exact age for Ondolemar. I have him born after the Thalmor took power (4E 42) becuase I think it works best for his character to only know a world with the Dominion. So this means at most he's 162 when he meets Theo. I think I like around 150 so we'll go with that.

I headcanon that being Dragonborn does allow you to live a bit longer (this might be a canon thing too I can't remember). With the races of men living a max of 100 years, Theo makes it to 125. Probably could have lived longer but my girl did not take the best care of herself in her younger years. So they get 90 odd years together, not bad :)

It would be hard when she does pass, it's something they talked about because baring him being killed, she will die before him. Thankfully by the time that comes he still has their children, as well as some grandchildren <3 So he's not alone. But there is a noticeable absence without her. I think he'd cope by spending time with the family they've built and being happy they got what they did since they never expected to be able to have anything long term. It's hard to lose her but they had so much life together <3

As a Belgian, I delight myself in knowing that he'll probably suffer an painful death. It might seem like a weird reaction to you, and I know that this is fiction, but that doesn't mean that seeing stuff like this and reading it hurts any less.

Anyway, to end this post on a happier note, I really like this story and taking a small break to savor it was a good decision.

And maybe I'll post some screenshots from my Elite Tag playthrough!

Benjamin had been back from Britechester for quite some time, but much to his parents dismay, his dedication to the performing arts had not dwindled.

And so one day, as autumn was sweeping across the country, Eugene and Alice told Benjamin to put on his sunday clothes for a visit to the Williams family. The reason for their visit his parents wouldn´t tell, and this worried him greatly.

Benjamin´s concerns were only intensified as they were welcomed in to the dining room where Theodora already sat by the table with a melancholy expression. He was asked to sit down next to her, their parents sitting on the other side of the table.

The mood in the room was serious, almost unbearably so, "could someone tell me what this is about?" Benjamin finally asked, not able to take the tension any longer.

Alice cleared her throat, "yes, let´s get to the matter at hand," she said, getting an agreeing nod from the others, "I´ll be blunt, we have decided that it would be for the best if you two were wed as soon as you both turn eighteen."

Benjamin´s mouth dropped. Certainly this must be some sort of cruel jape, he thought. He looked over at Theodora, she refused to meet his eyes however, "what in God´s name are you saying?" he exclaimed.

"Please, son, calm down," Eugene said, he too avoiding Benjamin´s eyes.

Benjamin stood up, almost knocking over the chair he´d sat on, "calm down?" he all but shouted, "calm down you say? This is madness! Mother, you can´t be serious!"

"We are, lad," Mr. Williams said, "so please, sit down and be reasonable about this."

"Theo? Say something!" Benjamin pleaded, ignoring Mr. Williams. But Theodora only let out a quiet sob.

While Dream BBQ: Lonely Door has multiple "routes" to reach the ending, I find it interesting that some people ascribe either 'good' or 'bad' qualities to these routes, usually to the tune of Purge Event = smashed genie = bad end, and Ascension = meeting the genie = good end. But I think DBBQ itself actually refutes this idea!

After all, it's only in the purge event that we see ENA's opinions more truthfully--she craves freedom at the expense of her "stupid job", and acknowledges--implicitly--that the event is kind of fun, torturous as it is. You're more likely to "fail" getting to Theodora (frogger mastery notwithstanding) and meet Unforgiven Frank--a sign that, on this route, you are being reminded of why you are unforgiven: party too hard, don't do your work, and you don't get to meet the genie. Bad end, right?

Well, maybe.

The ascension route seems much better: if you do the right job for everyone, satisfy the needs of every character you come across, and stay chipper and trusting, you get the humanboard! Work hard to overcome the platforming obstacles in a literal 'struggle to the top' with your business fellow (the "ultimate board member"), and you are rewarded. You can even cross the river and meet the gen--BATHROOM.

But Theodora can't--or won't--forgive ENA even then. Even Frank remains unforgiven, and whether or not you cross the river of souls correctly, ENA's ending is the same--she loses her body in the disappearing Uncanny Streets and has to reform it at the hub.

Ultimately, while one route seems to be more "proper" and "good" than the other, both end the same--and I think this is a powerful statement on the part of DBBQ, or at least Ch. 1. It doesn't matter how hard ENA works, whether she does everything right, keeps her composure or loses it, parties on the job or not... she remains unforgiven yet, and the people in power seem uninterested in helping her.

So much for being a good worker, destiny or no.

So much for trusting in G0D.
