Long before its downfall stood the sprawling mining city of Mernaeva, with its connected town of Meriden just a mile down the trail. It was a lively cluster of buildings, homes and businesses that made good reeve when the tired miners came for feasting or rest if they didn’t own a proper home there and didn't want to sleep near their work.

And within that town, a young Ishkia girl was making her way down the street, a basket hanging from her arm and a necklace-turned-igniter around her neck that glinted with the setting sun’s rays. 

A variety of folk passed her by, many tribes among them all. Being a sort of cozy nook from all the mining stuff up the road, there were plenty of different walks of life that took shelter there. Be they miners or not.

The girl got varied looks as she strolled by, though she paid them no mind. That, or she didn’t seem to notice. Humming a tune to herself as her mind was off in its own world.

words caught between dry mirth and comforting warmth, for an absentee father, sakaki managed. it was all about striking a balance, cradling the line between respecting the adult his son had grown into, and the child he inevitably still saw him as. behind that stern, steely gaze, sakaki saw the little boy that had been stolen from him.

so many years, robbed. and so many more to be lost due to choices that could not be taken back.

silver himself had his own checkered past. to layer that in with learning that his father was a former yakuza boss infamous for turning kanto on its head would not bode well. for all the people he had wronged, of all the crimes committed, the only person in this world--no, universe--that he would ever regret hurting was the boy before him.

" silver... "

sakaki's hand moved on its own, and for all of his efforts of respecting boundaries and the man his son had become, his fingers still ended up in dark red locks, tussling his hair.

" if you need me, i will know, and i will be there. but i believe the people you have by your side now will do more for you than i could ever offer. "

they knew the nuanced, complex person silver had become, while sakaki...

sakaki knew nothing.

his knowledge was limited to what his spies had collected, and that was nothing compared to what a father should know. he didn't know silver's favorite food, what songs he often had stuck in his head, whether he preferred tea or coffee or some third option, or how to comfort him. he'd be nothing but a burden.

"No no, come off it, brother," Bryon grinned playfully and hooked Elwin in the crook of his elbow. "You're supposed to take it right on the chin. "You watch me this time, yeah? Let your little brother show you how it's done."

Byron was often too big for his breeches when it came to most things, and if there was ever a bad influence on Elwin, he would be it. Even with things as serious as training, Byron would often do whatever he could to spark the part of Elwin that was a cooped-up, mischievous young man as all young men were. But for all his trickery and corruption, Byron was equally supportive and devoted to his older brother. He stepped now into the ring with the man that was meant to be training Elwin, all knob and inexperience with only the barest hint of wispy hair on his chin, and he drew the shining axe from his hip. He knew he was going to get laid flat here. He knew he was nowhere near Elwin's expertise with a blade, yet, but he needed to offer the encouragement. And what better way to be encouraged than to watch someone flub something so badly you just had to go in and correct him?

One last flash of a bright, white grin in Elwin's direction, and Bryon released a battle cry as he rushed out to attack his coach.

"So this is what God food is like?" The redhead surmised, finishing her sweet roll in two or three more bites before harmlessly dusting the crumbs from her hands onto the grass. "It's pretty good, but.." Freya scratched her head in thought before giving a soft giggle. "I 'dunno, I suppose I was expecting something glowing, or mystical in some way." She'd admit with a little grin. "I had no idea God food was so much like people food - fancy people food, admittedly, but still people food."

As they spoke of the stars, realms, and constellations; Freya couldn't help but look a touch disappointed that she wasn't able to see those other worlds Loki spoke of.. But still, curiosity prevailed. "Have you ever been up there before? Is it warm? They look just like Candle Flames, so surely they must be.." She'd continue, accidentally rambling a bit with all her questions. "Do people live on all of them? Or is it just Asgard and Elfhome?" Freya questioned once again, absolutely butchering the pronunciation of Alfheimr on accident in the process.

"Oh!" Freya exclaimed. "I nearly forgot!" Suddenly standing up; Freya reached for her lantern, though she did keep it relatively level so as to not leave Loki in complete darkness. "There's something I wish to show you, we'll just need to be quiet about doing it." She'd add before slowly beginning to descend the hill in hopes of showing a God something very dear to her.

Eventually Freya would stop beside a small house beside her own, just tall enough to stand inside if one were hunched over or simply short like Freya. "Hold this for me, won't you?" The young woman would ask, extending the lantern out for Loki to take while she ventured inside the tiny house. When she returned; Freya once again had something in her arms - a Hen. "This is Henrietta. I told you last time I'd introduce you, didn't I..?"

Henrietta just glanced around in confusion, occasionally making a soft clucking noise.

Seeing Loki suddenly appear from the trees, Freya couldn't help but give a startled little "Oh!" in surprise. "Has anybody ever told you that you've incredibly quiet footsteps?" The young lady teasingly pointed out given that this was now the second time Loki has managed to startle her in such a fashion.

When Loki offered the baked pastry, Freya would accept it graciously enough. "Oh, how kind of you! Did you make these?" She'd ask before looking a touch unsure in response to Loki's own question. "I.. am a bit hungry." Freya admit after a moment of quiet consideration. In truth; Freya was more than just a bit hungry. By no means was she starving, but.. it wasn't exactly uncommon for her Mother to send her off without dinner, whether it be for some perceived slight or otherwise. "But this helps, of course." The redhead added before taking a rather hefty bite from the roll she'd been given.

Enjoying the sweet roll she'd been given; Freya's gaze couldn't help but curiously scan the stars hanging overhead. "Is your home.. Asgard.. up there somewhere?" The redhead questioned once again while harmlessly pointing up at the star filled sky. "Wait, lemme guess.. Is Asgard that big one?" Again; Freya would point to the sky, her gaze particularly focused on Earth's Moon, shining just brightly enough to form the faintest shadows.

"And, that other place you mentioned.." The girl couldn't help but grin at the little game she'd come up with. "The one you said really likes Magic.. Is it that red one?" This time Freya would point to a brightly gleaming red giant - one of the stars making up the constellation of Orion's Belt, although Freya wasn't exactly aware of it.

Here it is: a mix of stuff I've read and intend to read. Quality varies greatly. I'm omitting all examples of erotica because that doesn't interest me, even though many of these novels have sexual content. "But why isn't Game of Thrones, Flowers in the Attic etc here?" because I hate you and straight incest means nothing to me. The family relationship takes precedent over consanguinity. Random order.

The Carnivorous Lamb, Agustín Gomez Arcos - A classic, really romantic exploration of the relationship between the two brothers against the backdrop of Francoist Spain. You've read this, and probably reread it.

My Loose Thread, Dennis Cooper - Really intense and disquieting, typical of the author, although the relationship between the brothers is more central here than in other works where it's more peripheral. Recommend all oeuvre.

Not Forever, But For Now, Chuck Palahniuk- Some really interesting meditations on youth and growing out of being 'prey', but lost me in the end. We/us pronouns type brothers.

Querelle, Jean Genet - Thief, murderer, prostitute, brotherfucker. We all know and love Querelle. Movie good as well.

Gemini, Michel Tournier - Twincest, more we/us brothers. I have to be honest I stopped reading this because I started playing a video game, and by page 63 there still wasn't much in terms of incest. I want to finish it though. Jean Genet liked it.

The Power of the Dog, Thomas Savage - I asked my wife for recommendations and she mentioned the movie, which is based on this book. When I asked 'but wasn't it about the kid', she said 'no, it's about the brother, trust me'. I have watched neither movie nor read the book but I believe my baby.

Twins, Bari Wood - The book behind Dead Ringers. Twincest again. You also know this.

A God Against the Gods, Allen Drury - Details the power struggles of pharaoh Akhenaten to establish a monotheist religion in Egypt, the cult of the Solar Disc Aten, and his relationship with brother, lover and heir Smenkhara. Has a sequel.

The Winter Prince, Elizabeth Wein - This book keeps being recommended, one day I'll read it. The interest here are brothers Medraut and Lleu but there are other incestuous relationships (possibly mother-son? I don't care)

Brothers Bishop, by Bart Yates - To be honest this book is not very good but it does have an explicit relationship between the two brothers. Thanks Anon for the rec.

The Left Hand of Darkness, Ursula K. Le Guin - Another fav!! All the incest happens before the book starts, but it's a big part of the background of one of the characters. The characters in question are actually not men, but the book uses he/him pronouns for them and refers to them as brothers. Thanks for the rec Anon, I've been meaning to read this for ages, completely unrelated to incest content

On the Black Hill, Bruce Chatwin - About two twins who run a farm together for 80 years. This book doesn't have anything explicit about their relationship but it's a similar dynamic to The Power of the Dog so I thought it might fit. Thanks for the rec Anon!

Salvation Army by Abdellah Taïa - Moroccan coming-of-age autobiography where the author remembers being in love with his older brother. Thanks for the rec Anon!

Doctrine of Labyrinths series, Sarah Monette - Follows two brothers across four fantasy novels, one of them is in love with the other. A father is also involved even though not prominently. Thanks for the rec Rochu!

chinese webnovels:

Brother, 人体骨架 - Really lovely exploration of a relationship between an older brother who is the caretaker for his disabled younger brother (the nature of his condition is kept vague, a severe form of autism, perhaps)

Flying Gulls Never Land, 回南雀 - Younger brother goes to prison for murder and now that he's out there's only one thing on his mind. Really fun read.

Wu Chang Jie, 水千丞 - One of my favourite xianxia novels due to how balls to the wall crazy the protagonist younger brother is. Plot is somehow secondary to him making his older brother fall in love with him again after a lifetime of uhm let's call it torture to keep things classy. Best translation by Corgi unfortunately not available.

Can't be left behind, 尤萨阿里塔 - This isn't usually my style, and the writing isn't that great, but, when I started reading this I couldn't put it down, which must mean something. Younger brother runs away to live with older brother after parents divorce. Other incest novel by same author being translated in the same website, don't care for it, but check it out.

Nocturnes for the King of Naples, Edmund White - Epistolary style novel in which the narrator addresses an older lover who, it becomes apparent, is an idealized version of his father, with none of his predatory nature, but all the wealth.

Nuestra Parte de Noche, Mariana Enríquez - There sure is a lot of child sexual abuse happening around this father and son, sure wonder what that could all mean, considering their own turbulent relationship. Guess we'll never know.

Pages from Cold Point and other Stories, Paul Bowles - Only the title short story is incestuous as far as I know, and it was pretty bad. Father deals with homophobic population complaining about his son sleeping with all the men by sleeping with him himself.

The Familia Grande, Camille Kouchner - Speaking of bad. Account of how the author's brother was raped by their stepfather and how this affected her. However, really fun example of women in male dominated fields if we consider it from the "how can I make this about me" angle. The brother didn't even want her to publish the book!

Fire from Heaven, Mary Renault - First book in the Persian Boy trilogy, detailing Alexander the Great's life from childhood to young adulthood. Much has been written about his relationship with mother Olympias but uhm, that takes second stage to what he and his father were doing to each other. Father anxious to ensure his son will be sexually dominant when having sex with other men, while struggling with the conflicting desire to dominate him sexually. Tale as old as time.

The Spanish Gardener, A. J. Cronin - Intensely jealous and controlling father suspects son's and gardener's relationship isn't just friendly.

Lost Souls, Poppy Z. Brite - All kinds of fun things can happen when your dad is a vampire. I actually really like two other characters in this, fun book all around.

The Chosen, Ricardo Pinto - Fantasy trilogy that keeps showing up when I look for both gay and incest. I haven't started reading it yet, but the dad is introduced with 'his father's beautiful face' so I'm making an educated guess about the nature of the incest in this book, but not ruling out that the protagonist might end up with a cousin, in which case we all kill ourselves or something.

Warchild, Karin Lowachee - Scifi trilogy that deals with children/teens at once recruited to be prostitutes or child soldiers, and the similarities between the two. Each book has a different protagonist, but they're all connected. Recommend the three books, love this series.

Dream Boy, Jim Grimsley - Teen boy victim of father's abuse, finds comfort in relationship with classmate, but homophobia threatens his happiness.

Arturo's Island, Elsa Morante - The main character is a young boy who's painfully in love with his father and is extremely angry when his dad brings home a new bride. Thanks Anon for the rec.

Edward, Edward, Lolah Burford - It is a haunting tale of a strange romance between a worldly and dissolute man, James Noel Holland, Earl of Tyne, and the golden-haired young Edward, his ward-or perhaps his son. Thanks for the rec, titleleaf!

The Dark, John McGahern - set in Ireland's rural north-west, and it focuses on an adolescent and his emerging sexuality, as seen through the lens of the strained and complex relationship he has with his father, Mahoney. Thanks for the rec Anon!

Blossom by River Country, 孔恰 - Translation work ongoing, which is why I haven't read this, but makes me really wish I could read chinese because I have a feeling the prose in its original form would be great. Slave boy adopted by intransigent general who learns to love him.

Stars of Chaos (Sha Po Lang), priest - Orphan boy adopted by cold and distant general who spends a lot of time away, despite this the two grow closer over the years. There's also a war or something, and big machines.

Imperial Uncle, 大风刮过 - (uncle x nephew) I haven't read this, but I kept getting recommended, since it's the only uncle x nephew example I'm sticking it here, until a beautiful time comes when I have enough recs for an uncle x nephew section by itself.

Sharp Objects, Gillian Flynn - You've probably also read this. Also a good example of momdaughter but as I have nothing else for that category I'm leaving it here.

We Have Always Lived in the Castle, Shirley Jackson - Another classic. There are people who know this is a book about incest, and there are people who are dumb as rocks.

Into the Forest, Jean Hegland - Two sisters together at the end of the world. Very slow at times, but I liked the claustrophobia. Didn't like the random guy who showed up to mess up the vibe.

The Blindness of the Heart, Julia Franck - This is a war novel across several generations, I'm putting it here from a specific rec, but my interest in reading it is very slim.

Bright Lines, Tanwi Nandini Islam - Another book from a rec, three girls across two continents who discover family secrets. Really scared that this is just cousincest but being very hopeful and crossing my fingers and leaving it here.

The Thirteenth Tale, Diane Setterfield - Gothic suspense novel. Several examples of incest, but the focus here is pair of twin girls + their sister whose identity is a mystery for much of the novel.

The Sinner, Petra Hammesfahr - Another rec by mia belissima moglie, she's going off what happened in the tv show, but I'm trusting that the show follows the book. A woman who would do everything for her sister.

Sisters, Daisy Johnson - This cover and synopsis are very suggestive, and yet I wonder. However goodreads shelves indicate I shouldn't. And yet I can't trust like that. Hopefully one of you can let me know for sure.

Cassandra at the Wedding, Dorothy Baker - One of my favs on this list! Cass is one of the best to every do it. She's gay, she's a twin, and she's pretty unashamedly in love with her sister. The book is about her sister's wedding which Cass, of course, tries to sabotage. Thanks for the rec Anon, I'm so hype for this one!

The Behaviour of Moths, Poppy Adams - From her lookout on the first floor, Ginny watches and waits for her younger sister to return to the crumbling mansion that was once their idyllic childhood home. Thanks for the rec Anon!

Honorable Mentions

Everything that is somehow adjacent, or in which gay incest isn't central but still shows up.

Nefando, Mónica Ojeda - Crazy good book that deals with themes of child sexual abuse and exploitation. Includes three siblings who have been abused by their father, the two girls and one boy are lovers as adults

Boys Alive, Pier Paolo Pasolini - Deals with the lives of destitute street boys in Rome, left to fend for themselves, many are neglected or abused by parents, all involved in petty theft and prostitution to some degree.

The Vampire Armand, Anne Rice - My favourite of the tvc books, and I think it's pretty easy to read Marius' relationship with Armand as well as the other boys as parental.

The Magician, Colm Tóibín - This is a loooong book and the incest is only nominal, which is why it's just an honorable mention. This is a novelization of the life of Thomas Mann, who wrote in his diaries that he was in love with his oldest son for a time. Thanks for the rec Anon

The Piano Teacher, Elfriede Jelinek - This book is absolutely wild in a lot of ways but one of the central themes is the protagonist trying to escape her domineering and possessive mother (who forces them to share a bed!). Thanks Anon for the rec!

Xenogenisis Trilogy, Octavia Butler - I hesitate to recommend this even though it's an amazing series. A lot of the incest is various brother/sister couples, but the two later books have a lot of characters who are a third gender (or not yet male or female) and there's a lot of general discussion of incest. Out Of A Black Land, Kerry Greenwood - Novel set in ancient Egypt, with gay protagonists and where Smenkhkare/Akhenaten are background characters. Thanks for the rec Anon!

I think the pairing was ZhuiLing or else it was focused on Lan Sizhui, Lan Jingyi, and Jin Ling in some combination. Because once again I thought I had this fic bookmarked, but can't find it, and my Google-fu has failed too, so here goes: x number of years ago, Wei Ying and the Wen Remnants vanished from the Burial Mounds. Lan Zhan has never stopped searching for Wei Ying. There are strange rumors everywhere that WY & the others are in a resentment-filled no man's land (kind of like the void in the Shadow & Bone novel) where huge deadly monsters roam. Word is also that people who really need help have safely disappeared into this void. As time passes, rumors of strange cultivators suddenly appearing to aid people are also circulating. And I think Lan Zhan actually meets Xiao Xingchen in an inn at one point & it's clear he knows Wri Ying (he & Song Lan turn out to be Wei Ying's right-hand men). LZ does try to get into the void thing, but the energy is too strong & he barely makes it out of the area. After a number of years they get a message out of the blue, i think, from WY saying that the monsters are getting out, and WY ends up bringing the Wei Sect back to the cultivation world to help fight. Wei Ying will have nothing to say or do with Lan Zhan, at least to start, which Lan Zhan is devestated by. Um...and Lan Yuan is there, grown up & still the Best Boy ever. I think A-Yuan tirns out to be a Gusu Lan fanboy. Anyway, it turns out Wei Ying created a ghost path that allows the Wei Sect to safely use resentful energy. But you find out WY got too damaged back in the beginning and by the end they defeat the monsters but he's dying, so Lan Zhan gives Wei ying his golden core. I think LZ actually does the whole transfer himself in the Jingshi.

He wanted to kill all of them. Wangxian comes their to save Ayuan and they get saved in the process. They got some cursed so Ayuan request wangxian to let them stay in their house until their cursed is solved.they stay in their house and yanli tries to connect with wei wuxian but he doesn't. Wen Ning is also married. Also, wangxian are immortal. Wei ying form is crow which he uses to spy on his son for safety reasons. Also, lan xichen repents himself and tries to make amends and connect with the kids. Lan zhan is also trying to connect with his family. Also, that Jiang family is a bit#h (bitch), cheng verbally abuses wei wuxian at any chance he gets and yanli only knows to cry. Same with lan qiren,he is still the same. I would swear I bookmarked this one but I can't find it anywhere!

It's a modern au where LWJ and WWX are college students. Iirc they are already in a relationship.

Iirc it opens with WWX and LWJ in a wrecked car which is possibly half hanging off a bridge - they'd been run off the road (though that's not established until later).

When the emergency services arrive, LWJ is taken to hospital but WWX is arrested for some bullshit reason - resisting arrest or something. Iirc the cops on the scene were Jin Zixun and Xue Yang.

There is worry from LWJ's family because they don't know what happened to WWX. Just that he was in the car and he should be in the hospital but isn't.

Later, WWX is in an interrogation room not making much sense because he's injured and hypothermic (it's winter and he was soaked through but he wasn't allowed to even dry off) then he gets left on his own.

I *think* he was tracked down by police (chief?) NMJ who got to WWX shortly before his heart stopped due to his injuries, the hypothermia, and the mistreatment while in custody.

That's all I can remember. Does this ring any bells for anyone? @greywake

Nephew. That was the only word that computed for Kaia, he complete focus having been locked onto the little boy. She looks at Deidara with hopeful glazed over blues, tears welling up once more.

There was so many emotions running through her right now. So many things she wanted to say, but all Kaia could do at the moment was cry in happiness that her brother was still alive. That he was okay.

The sudden squeal, tiny and weak, snapped her out of her thoughts, pulling back when Deidara nudges her. Eyes going wide when she sees the baby. Blonde little tuffs and one blue little eye oh so noticeable.

Father's Day is coming so could you give us more headcanons for Brozone dads (Bruce, Clay, Floyd, Branch) and their kids. What activities their children like to do with their dads? Camping, reading, sports?

Fathers Day is actually on September 1st in Australia.

Branch 🌲

Branch is the preferred bedtime storyteller. Poppy gets too animated and keeps the kids awake longer. Branch's voice is more soothing.

Teaching the kids to be self sufficient. Foraging, farming, hunting, storing food, building and mending things. He tries to make a game of it the best he can. He thinks he's boring. The kids think he's fascinating. 😁

He is the closest with Princess Rosiepuff. Whilst he loves all of his kids very much, she just shares more of his interests.

Floyd 🔥

'Baby and Me' exercise classes.

Weekend family road trips. Visiting the different tribes and exposing the kids to the different cultures.

Boom coaches The Sprouts. It's basically a Little League team for Trollings. Angel and Phoenix are both part of it. Floyd doesn't play but is very supportive! ⚾

Clay ⛳

Clay tried to get his brothers into golf. They preferred baseball. Clay found he was actually great at baseball. Clover liked baseball as well. They actually bonded over it. Clover joined the kids team The Sprouts and Clay was part of The Hotshot Hue's.

Teaching Clover to dance by doing the 'standing on my feet' thing.

Birdie is a quieter kid and he shares the love of golf with Clay.

Bruce 💜

Bruce's favorite go-to game to keep the kids occupied is to bury a toy in the sand and tell them to start digging and whoever finds it can keep it. Sometimes he doesn't actually bury anything just so they stay out there longer. 🪣

He encourages their creativity and freedom. He keeps every one of the artworks they make for him.

John Dory 🐟

Telling the kids all stories about their moms and dads.

long drives around the society of shades on his bike. his favourite spot is at the very end, where nature grows more frequently.

going to aquariums together— this man could spend hours there, just watching the whale-sharks. he tells you their backs match your eyes. the spots akin to the stars, and your eyes? the galaxy itself.

possessive, oh he’s possessive. while he tries to not go overboard with it, sometimes. . . it swings out of control. he never means any malice or harm.

love languages are cooking, gift giving and physical. goodness, cling onto this man for the entire day or forever, he’ll never get tired of it.

off to work often but makes it up to you with short visits, calls and texts. anything to keep you occupied and feel like you are getting the right amount of attention and space.

rainy days call for dances and walks outside! please take his hand and dance around in the rain, it makes his heart soar high in the sky

takes you to his pavilion in the zhao estate garden when you visit, to sit you down, drink some tea and talk.

finds injured animals and nurses them back to health with you. teaches you how to help the big and small parts of nature.

refuses to take you with him to the spirit realm unless you’re an otherworldly yourself. and even then, if you aren’t of the realm. it’s most likely a no. it’s just too risky.

loves it when you get competetive with him, the two of you could run around for hours and play your little game together.

one of his favourite pass times activities with you is playing board games and video games with you or watching movies.

soul-reaping: yìzé has the ability to reap more than 50 souls and carry them on his scythe until he can send them away to the afterlife.

vapour teleportation: can shift his physical form into a dark vapour and can move at high speeds towards a different location.

dark vapor production: produces a dark vapour from his back and shoulders that can blind and disorientate enemies greatly.

hallucinative vapor production: similar to his dark vapour, however causes those that breathe it in to hallucinate; often multiple versions of him.

weapon adaptation: Yìzé is quick to adapt to new weapons and can easily improvise a few new techniques into his fights with them.

deadly cuts: his scythe is capable of severe damage. When struck with, it does not deal only a cut in the area hit with but several similar cuts across the body in a row.

quick: yìzé thinks quick and moves quick. watch your step.

peaches: a mild reaction to peaches that can be solved with basic medication.

walnuts: do not let him near walnuts, he can become severely ill and result in hm being hospitalized.

daylight: as a nocturnal reaper, daylight and other bright sources of light can weaken his senses of sight as he is used to the darkness of the night.

d’akar: an anti-magic material that can greatly weaken him if he comes into contact with it.

extreme emotional attachment: while reapers may remind one of humans, they are not. they are beings with very empathetic instincts and have souls bigger than the average mortal being — a thing that has been with them since their creation. they become extremely attached to things they love and it may cause them to become erratic if enough they love is taken away from them.

fading: occurs when a reaper goes through immense hurt and pain. their physical form quite literally begins to disappear, making them appear transparent. it can be a very painful process, both emotionally and physically. until their physical form eventually fades away and their soul moves on to the afterlife.

What the hell happened to rap?

Let’s be honest: somewhere along the way, something got lost. Hip-hop used to be a weapon. It used to be storytelling, rebellion, consciousness, power, and poetry all wrapped into one raw, unfiltered mic check. Now? It’s Auto-Tuned nonsense over cheap algorithm-fed TikTok beats. It’s rap with no soul. Trap-hop with no truth. Just noise. Empty calories.

Is it rap?

Whatever the hell it is—

It’s crap.

The art form that birthed legends and sparked revolutions has been hijacked by clout chasers who mumble into mics with no meaning, no structure, no depth. It’s like someone fed AI a hundred bad Instagram captions, looped it over 808s, and called it music.

Let’s call it how it is.

The good ones take their time. They bleed into their bars. They marinate their verses. They don’t drop songs—they drop sermons. Truth bombs.

We’re talking:

• Run The Jewels – the soundtrack for modern-day revolutionaries

• Danny Brown – chaos with character and cleverness

• Killer Mike – sharpened steel truth

• Kendrick Lamar – the poet laureate of the streets

But the bad ones?

They microwave whatever’s trendy and throw it on a plate like it’s gourmet:
