“what do you mean?” her head tilted to the side. a smirk twitched at the corners of her lips. she stretched out on the hotel bed, lavender lingerie clinging to her curves.  “i thought you wanted to celebrate.”

ㅤㅤif haeil was told he wasn't allowed something (or, in this case, someone), it only made him want them more. everyone on the field was too occupied with training, the distant sound of the coach barking orders at the rest of the team barely audible from down the tunnel and inside the locker room. he'd overheard chatter about ainsley tagging along with her brother, and it hadn't taken him long to come up with an excuse to go and find her. broad, muscular shoulders roll at her question, his gaze dropping to her fingers, his togue poking out to dampen his plump lips at the sight of her fidgeting with her skirt — his mind already running wild. " not to sound like a total creep, but do you know how many times i've tried to get you alone? i'm not the only one on the team with their eyes on you, you know. but hopefully i'm the only one that you've got your eyes on. "

she's aware of how the scene looked — how it was. ainsley shouldn't be left alone with haeil and it's a simple fact. yet she can't quite stop herself from trying anyways. hand gently fussing with her hair she feels her heart hammer, space between them closing rapidly. he boxes her in and she all but explodes, coyly smiling and batting lashes his way. "oh, really?" faux innocence as she toys with the hem of her skirt. "i didn't know you had such carnal impulses toward me, haeil. naughty boy, hm?"

" he's grinning despite his previous annoyance, but the mention of daeun's friend makes it falter — brows furrowing as a frown weighs heavy on his lips. "and what about my six-year relationship, i should just throw that away too?" fuck, he's an idiot — not only to think that she'd be responsible for this in the first place but also to think that the consequences for him would be any more disastrous than they would be for her. "you're not suddenly david beckham just because your head is inflated three times the size of the sun." she doesn't even think the english soccer player she's comparing him to is attractive, but she's trying to make a point. ㅤㅤㅤshoulders shrug almost dismissively at her apparent lack of faith, but he trusts his team. they all have dirt on each other — affairs, addictions... everyone has ammunition, but no valid reason to use it. not that haeil was aware of. " what? they're boys. what else am i supposed to call them? " his arrogance dissolves like candy floss in water once she's cornering him with what sounds like an ultimatum, making him suddenly regret his brashness. " hey, that's not what i was getting at... " he'd really put his foot in his mouth and now he was struggling to get it out. " it's not that i don't trust you. if you said you didn't say anything then i believe you, maybe it was one of the boys, or maybe we just got papped. i'm, uh— sorry for just accusing you. " a hand lifts to scratch awkwardly at the back of his neck, averting his gaze shamefully. " but i booked this place for two nights. you're not gonna make me spend the second one alone, are you? "

he's always been arrogant and overconfident, but they'd been traits which had attracted her to him in the first place — whereas her boyfriend had become passive and comfortable, haeil had come on strong right off the bat, and it had felt undeniably satisfying to be desired by someone again with so much intensity. now daeun isn't so sure that it's worth it anymore. her nose crinkles at the mention of his friends, her back resting against the locker behind her. "the fact that you just called them the boys tells me everything i need to know." no way any of them know how to do anything other than run their mouths and act like nuisances. "maybe we should just call this off. stop seeing each other. you obviously don't trust me, and i don't like where this is headed, so i don't see why we would continue on." not even daeun herself can tell if she's bluffing to see if haeil will stake a claim on their relationship or if it would really be better for them to part ways.

ㅤㅤa hand smoothly lifts to brush fiery locks out from her eyes, boldly stepping towards her before sparing a glance over his shoulder to ensure that there were no possible eavesdroppers. the hand that had brushed her hair lifts to rest his palm flat against the locker behind her, head tilting as he smiles his charming smile. " well, the harm is that i don't think i'd be able to leave it at just speaking. "

a delicate shoulder lifts as she rests back against the wall, "but he's not here right now ... is he? so really, what's the harm of you just speaking to me", ainsley counters, small and knowing smile pulling at her lips.

ㅤㅤㅤhis eyes narrow across at her, huffing and puffing — having the audacity to act insulted when, deep down, he knows she's right. he really does need to take a closer look at his close circle, but he's stubborn and he won't tell her that anytime soon. " just turn your comments off. problem solved. i can't turn off the fact that i've got my manager and my PR team on my back, so you should consider yourself lucky. " selfish, as always. " you should just say if you slipped up. i won't be mad. maybe you got drunk and bragged about me to your friends— i'm hot. who wouldn't want to brag? "

she can’t help the unkind scoff, baffled by the words she’s hearing. “and i thought you were smart to realize that this has been a fucking nightmare for me too. do you think i want my social media flooded with jealous tweens? maybe you should take a closer look at who you choose to surround yourself with.”
