Over the summer, I entered what I call my "lukewarm era" as a Christian. To put it simply, being lukewarm means you know you're a Christian, you say you're a Christian, and yet you aren't committed enough to consistently devote yourself to Christ.

My lukewarm era started small. At first, it was just me skipping my Bible readings, then telling myself I'd catch up tomorrow (which I never actually did). In general, I just got really lazy and wanted nothing to do but rot in bed all day...

It got to a point where I ended up breaking a habit of mine that I used to look forward to doing, which was praying before bed every night and talking to God about anything and everything.

Now that school has started again and is actually forcing me to get up and do something productive with my life, I really want to get out of my lukewarm era and start praying more often.

As Christians, I sometimes feel that we tend to underestimate how powerful prayer is, and how important it is that we do it daily. It's as simple as a conversation, but also so much more.

Prayer is talking to God- the Creator of the Universe, the King of all Kings, our Savior, and the literal person who made life worth living. The absence of daily prayer in my life made me realize that it's a privilege to be able to talk to someone so amazing and mighty.

It's a privilege and power move to talk to God and we really should treat it like one.

Staying devoted to prayer means growing spiritually and getting closer to Jesus and to our Father. It means being able to praise Him, thank Him, and ask Him for answers in our lives.

Aside from this, prayer is actually really versatile. Our prayers can range from thanking God for a new day when we wake up, or asking Him for help on a test, to confiding our deepest secrets in Him.

Prayer is powerful in a sense that it allows us to walk with God, no matter where we are or what our situation is.

That's why it's so important that it is a crucial part of our everyday lives.

I know I haven't been consistent when it comes to my daily worship lately, but more than that, I know God is forgiving. Even if I lose my way, He finds me and puts me back on track. God will change me, and reinstating my daily prayer is a small step I can take towards a bigger goal.
