avery had no idea why she’d been taken, no clue that it wasn’t some intentional move made by the male in the driver's seat, although she had to note how he had seemed to go quiet, not sure if he was focused on making a getaway, planning what to do with her or just simply lost in thought. it seemed obvious from their previous talking that the outspoken male was surprised by his actions, so it couldn’t have been a part of the original plan, right? was it done on purpose or was she caught up in a stupid mistake… had he done this for the other male like they had suggested? god, she hoped not. she didn’t know why he did it, but she didn’t want to think about what was ahead of her now that she was seeing them up close, hearing ones name, finding identifiable features, they wouldn’t just let her go now, right? eyes locked on the driver for a split second as he looked back before her attention fell back on the one she was certain came up with the plan to rob the place to begin with, his energy was radiating chaos. despite knowing he was capable of murder she figured death might be better than having to deal with whatever his brain could come up with. “far from it,” avery replied, brows quirking as he climbed into the back but doing her best not to show any weakness or concern, something told her that kind of thing would only encourage him, at least make him think he could intimidate her. feeling her neck stiffen as he took hold she bared her teeth in annoyance, deciding not to struggle as he grabbed her wrist. eyes rolled as her hand pressed against his length, “smoother than ken.” the blonde replied with a straight face before her gaze shifted back to joe, “is that why you took me, joe? because your friend can’t get anyone without any junk?” @hurtrite

he'd been trying to move her out of the way. that was all. that was it. . . wasn't it? joseph wore a furious look, glaring out the windshield at the expanse of dark, empty highway that seemed to sprawl endlessly ahead of them, desperately thinking back in an attempt to relive the robbery. it'd transpired in a matter of minutes, but his mind stretched it into the length of hours, dissecting each singular action he'd taken. every choice unraveled into dozens of options, trying to justify why he inhaled at one second and shifted to the right in the next. he remembered grabbing the blonde's arm, remembered trying to pull her to the side, and then — caleb shot. he'd shot and they ran, no time to think, no time to let go. she was a living casualty of his own carelessness.

joseph cringed when he heard her speak, the anger to her tone making him glance back just the once. it was too late ; caleb was again jumping into action. "oh - " the older male exhaled, something sharp sparking in his eyes. "you hear that, joe? i think she's interested in checking out my equipment." shoulders hunching forward, caleb made quick work of climbing over the seats to join her in the back, gaze never straying from her hard glare. instantly, he was crowding in close, sliding along the seat to seal their bodies together from knee to hip. one hand clamped down on the back of the blonde's neck while the other grabbed her wrist, forcing her hand directly to his crotch. "that feel dickless to you, babe?"

plot: on the lam and short on cash, career criminal brothers drop in at a piggly wiggly for a quick pick-me-up. unfortunately, in the midst of the robbery, your muse is taken hostage - whoopsie!

muses: caleb rudd, 37, criminal. vengeful and amoral to his core, recently released from prison. joseph rudd, 32, bartender. antisocial and a victim of his brother's schemes.

" - the fuck were you thinking!" it'd all gone wrong — everything. from the very first second that they stepped into the sleepy supermarket, joseph could sense it. something was off in the stale air, a foreboding spark of electricity making his breath come heavier behind the bandana covering his face from the nose down. it was about to be one hell of a robbery, and caleb made sure of it. wild blue eyes darted frantically between the road and rearview mirror, his brother's hyena-like cackles grating his nerves as they sped away from the scene of the crime.

"what did i do?" caleb posed innocently, as if there wasn't blood splattered over all three of them. as if they hadn't been seconds away from being home free, duffel stuffed with cash from the registers, and then just for kicks, he'd aimed his shotgun at the manager and pulled the trigger. a pink and red confetti explosion of viscera had made bystanders scream and panic — and joseph, too. "i'm not the one who nabbed the girl." caleb twisted around in the passenger seat to leer at her, his smile out of place for the high-strung situation. she'd been chucked into the backseat of the rusted corvette like forgotten luggage, trapped behind seats that had to be shoved forward to exit the two-door vehicle, nothing but a mess of gas station garbage and loose dirty clothes greeting her. joseph didn't know why he'd dragged her out. regret dropped heavy in his gut, ignoring the way that caleb began to taunt her. "you do that just for me, joe, huh?" caleb slapped the other's shoulder before leaning further back, arms folding over the seat. "got a name, sugartits?"
