the thing i think a lot of people have trouble understanding is that "ai" as we know it isn't a circuitboard or a computer part or an invention - it's a discovery, like calculus or chemistry. the genie *can't* be re-corked because it'd be like trying to "cork" the concept of, say, trigonometry. you can't "un-invent" it.

even if you managed to somehow completely outlaw the performance of the kinds of linear algebra required for ML, and outlawed the data collection necessary, and sure, managed to get style copyrighted, you can't un-discover the underlying mathematical facts. people will just do it in mexico instead. it'd be like trying to outlaw guns by trying to get people to forget that you can ignite a mixture of powders in a small metal barrel to propel things very fast. or trying to outlaw fire by threatening to take away everyone's sticks.

the battleground is already here. technofascists and bad actors without your ethical constraints are drawing the lines and flooding the zone with propaganda & slop, and you’re wasting time insisting to your enemies that it’s unfair you’re being asked to fight with guns when you’d rather use sticks.

Attempts to prohibit AI "training" misunderstand what is being prohibited. To ban the development of AI models is, in effect, to ban the performance of linear algebra on large datasets. Even if prohibition were successful in one nation-state:

Corporations would relocate to jurisdictions with looser controls - China, UAE, Japan, Singapore, etc.

APIs would remain accessible, just more expensive and less accountable. What, are you gonna start blocking VPNs from connecting to any country with AI allowed? Good luck.

Research would continue outside the oversight of the very publics most concerned about ethical constraints.

Humanity has had to suffer all sorts of ‘isms’ throughout history; Marxism, communism, fascism, globalism, feminism, chauvinism, wokeism and institutionalism, to name a few. I feel the world is finally ready to leave all of that behind and welcome the only ‘ism’ worth keeping; individualism.

It’s time to abandon herd mentality and the absurd notion that the collective is more important than the individual.

The collective is simply the sum of the individuals, so it’s the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual condition of the individual that is of paramount importance. What is not good for the individual, is therefore not good for the collective. It can NEVER be the other way around.

In the last five years we have witnessed the demise of trust in governmental institutions, law enforcement, legal frameworks, medical establishments, organised religion and international organisations. There is now a need and a desire to go back ‘home’; to restore our national boundaries, to preserve our traditions and our culture, and to decide the type of future that works for each of us, not globally, but locally.

For me personally, it’s not so much about patriotism or nationalism, it’s about individualism. It’s about living accordingly to our individual foundations, requirements and needs, based on who you are and the characteristics of the region that shaped your character growing up.

It’s about honouring our elders, our history and our stories. It’s about us individually feeling safe and at peace, knowing that we are where we belong, where we are understood, where our roots will hold us through any storm, where we have the support, understanding and love that we need. It’s about being the best individual you can be, because the collective that sorrounds you gets you and embraces you.

We have a saying in Spain that goes like this: “Cada uno en su casa y Diós en la de todos”, which comes to mean: “Each one in their own home and God in everyone’s”. I believe this to be the main ingredient to lasting peace; each to their own in their own home and God as everyone’s companion. No forced ‘inclusion’, no shoved down our throats ‘diversity’, no false ‘equity’. Be you in your own space and let me be me in mine, but if you come to my home, have the respect to follow my rules and my traditions.

For decades they have been purposefully ‘shaking the jar’ because they wanted to break our roots, so we would forget our sense of belonging. They wanted to shatter our foundations, so we would lose our sense of identity and they wanted to keep us in constant conflict because divided we are conquered.

Globalism is not the celebration of a multicultural, multiracial world, it’s the complete opposite; it’s the destruction of our differences and idiosyncrasies in order to give way to a malleable, controllable and compliant homogeneous mass.

But we are not sheep, we are not a ‘mass’, we are individuals, with different needs, different understandings and different ways to express life. I don’t want us to be the same, I want us to be different! That’s what makes the world interesting.

I welcome the new age of individualism which I feel is beginning to take shape. A time where we understand that our differences make us stronger as long as we don’t impose them on one another, a time where we will live where we belong, each in their own place, where God is always in us... 🤔

Gotham City Headcanons

Chat, I promise I'll make Scene kid Damian soon, but for the past week, I have been thinking about weird city habits that I think would exist within Gotham (and wish people would include in Batman fics).

The city I live in isn't super big, but I've traveled quite a bit, and there's stuff like this in most cities that ABSOLUTELY would happen in gotham, Here's a list.

Kia Boys. I guarantee you CANT own a Kia in gotham without it being broken into and stolen. This is a pretty common thing in some cities and its known that if you bring a kia into the city, you need to buy a wheel lock or else that car is no longer yours

people using those fuckass Electric rental scooters to escape the Bats. I've seen police chases with those scooters irl. People are absolutely dumb enough to try to outscoot the Batmobile

Cheap cultural food. Gotham has a pop of 6.5 million (At least in Arkham knight). I wish people explored that more in fics, I'd imagine most of them would grow up eating Chinese, Ethiopian, indian, Italian, etc. Gotham is a MASSIVE city, look me in the eyes and tell me there wouldn't be a diverse food culture as well

DIY SHOWS!!!! This is so niche but I love the idea of the batboys sneaking out to go to concerts in random basments with local bands named things like "Scared Crows" or "Concrete Waste" or random shit. and with the amt of crazy things in Gotham, you KNOW the underground scene would go crazy there

The experience of your favorite restaurant having a car driven through it. Enough said.

Idk how to phrase this but I'd like to think that out of towners underestimate the toxcitiy and danger of gotham harbor, so every summer some transplant tries to swim in the harbor and ends up with radiation poisoning

Gotham is an old enough city that most buildings most likely don't have AC. Even businesses struggle to get AC because these buildings just weren't designed for it.

Okok so from what we’ve seen from the myriad celestia, each lord ravager tends to rival and aim to destroy a specific path.

Since phainon is likely a lord ravager, I figured that either His rival path is destruction, and he will eventually aim to take down nanook and the other ravagers or…

his rival path is finality. Which would be a good nice fun time to introduce miss finality herself, THE ONE AND ONLY KIANA HERRSCHER OF GIRLKISSING KASLANA.

On one hand if it’s destruction, I think it’d be really fun if phainon and kiana could team up for once. But if it’s finality he’s against then it might just be kaslana vs kaslana again . Why pit two bad bitches against each other when they can kill god TOGETHER.

I feel like kiana will inevitably get involved considering the Aeon war seems well on its way to wiping out the entire universe, and kiana didn’t become the goddamn moon for THIS to happen.

Also maybe the cocoon of finality and kiana herself might just be a growing Aeon, kinda like how we saw Sunday mid-ascension.
