HE MADE his promise and how wonderfully delighted he is to be able to keep it. she leans up to press a kiss to his lips and he grins against it, swooping her up into a more expressive gesture of his affection.

HE SITS quietly with the other vampire, their scars glittering slightly under the pale light. his are not as abundant as jasper’s, of course. in most of the wars garrett fought in, he was fighting against humans and their machinery. but not always. 

       ❝ how did you do it? ❞ he asks barely above a murmur. ❝ from---- before,           to this? to a family? ❞

THE ANSWER, admittedly, surprised him. leah always seemed like such a solitary soul, especially in regard to the vampires all around. so when he’d asked her why didn’t she just go off on her own, get to be finally alone, that answer hadn’t been what he’d expected. 

      ❝ oh. ❞ he considers for a moment. ❝ what do you want...? ❞

she brings his head to rest on her folded legs. her fingers brush gently through the brown length of his hair; she hopes to provide some comfort. what he speaks of isn’t a foreign thought. she’s been there too, in the valleys of her mind, waiting for the pictures of her mother and father, her brothers, to reappear like magic. “ i’m sorry, garrett…” she wishes his pain away. if only stroking his hair would do just that. “ i know how it is… it’s alright..”

THE TENDERNESS of her touch surprises him and he thinks if he were able to cry, he would be.  of course it’s a feeling she knows well. it’s one all vampires do. the venom turns their memories, like everything else, practically to ash. though he remembers his sister’s face, barely, just once, after he became a vampire. when he’d begged carlisle to save her... it’s a memory that’s coated in blood and burning and the sight of her pale face disguised as a boy. he wishes he had any other memory of her to replace it with. 

       ❝ thank you... ❞ he whispers, not entirely able to say more, not now.

WHEN HE opens the door to the cullen’s home, the sight of a very small very human girl standing there is not... what he was expecting. he takes a moment to steel himself against the burn that the smell of her pours down throat. he clears it and tilts his head before speaking. welp... too late for those contacts. here’s to hoping she just thinks he’s WEIRD.

       ❝ uh---- sorry hi. are you...? looking for carlisle...? ❞

if this little meeting of the masses that carlisle is good for anything, it’s certainly putting a lot of very interesting vampires together to meet for the first time. he’s intrigued by siobhan, though mainly because he hasn’t been to ireland in a very very long time and though he proudly touts himself as american NOW, there had been a time in his human youth where he had called the green isle home. 

      ❝ siobhan, right? i’m garrett. ❞

HE SHAKES his head as he watches alice slide her fingers absently over the scars in jasper’s skin ( though the actual annoyance is minimal at best. he’d never admit how cute he actually finds it ).

      ❝ you know. i’ve been in every war since the revolution, INCLUDING the          civil war. ----you don’t see people fawning over my scars like that, ❞ he          mutters, the very beginnings of something resembling a POUT on his          lips.

HE EYES the vampire and his choice of... attire. it’s quirky, to say the least. which--- to be fair, garrett has met plenty vampires who maintain a certain eccentric connection to the styles they grew up in. but this... this was just as if glamrock threw up on one man.
