                       SASUKE  WASN’T WRONG  ...  &  it  was  something  that  stung  a  place  deep  down  inside  of  him.  memories  of  himself  ,  alone.  the  villagers  he  wanted  so  DESPRITLY  to  become  friends  with  ,  laughing  &  pushing  him  away  to  the  point  where  he  wished  they’d  all  VANISH.  it  hurt  him  ,  SCARRED  him  to  the  point  where  his  childhood  had  been  completely  broken  in  his  eyes  ---  he’d  always  claimed  it  never  bothered  him  ,  but  it  had  just  been  naruto  trying  again  &  again  to  convince  himself  that  he  wasn’t  HATED.

                  ❛    that’s  true  ...    ❜   it’s  all  he  could  say  at  first  ,  heart  heavy  with  his  own  inner  turmoil.  he  chews  the  skin  of  his  lip  for  a  moment  ,  ocean  orbs  scanning  the  ground  as  he  searches  for  more  to  say.    ❛    but  --  if  we  can  make  them  sad  ,  can’t  we  also  make  them  HAPPY  too  ...  ?    ❜

it’s  a  simple  answer  ,  but  the  way  naruto  finally  glances  at  his  friend  ;  he  hopes  it  rings  home  somewhere.  humans  have  the  power  of  communication  ,  &  words  as  your  greatest  weapon  ,  naruto  had  always  tried  to  use  that  power  to  lift  others  up.

                       IT  HAD  BEEN  HIS  THIRD  &  he’d  been  happily  slurping  away  before  he’d  peeked  to  his  wife  --  blinking  &  INSTANTLY  cursing  himself  for  looking  into  lilac  opals  that  shone  like  the  night  sky.  he’s  a  bit  hesitant  at  first  before  he  caves  with  a  smile  ,  sliding  the  bowl  over  to  her  with  a  smile.

                ❛    you  know  ,  i  don’t  think  i  could  EVER  beat  you  at  a  ramen  eating  contest  --  never  have  ...    ❜   he  sighs  before  he  rests  an  elbow  on  the  counter  ,  chin  in  his  palm  as  he  watches  her  with  full  affection  in  his  eyes.  his  free  hand  reaching  over  to  twirl  a  strand  of  her  hair  between  his  fingers.

         HE’S  TAKEN  AWAY  by  her  swiftness  ,  how  quick  she  is  to  reach  up  &  give  him  affection  ;  finding  himself  following  her  as  she  breaks  it  to  steal  another  kiss  quickly  with  a  smile.  finally  stepping  back  to  take  in  her  outfit  (  &  HOW  CUTE  SHE  WAS  ,   HIS  HEART  MELTING  )  the  blond  turns  quickly  to  grab  his  cloak  ;  throwing  it  over  her  shoulders  before  clasping  it.  

                          ❛    there  you   are  ,  LADY  HOKAGE  --  now  you’re  ready  for  work  !    ❜  he  laughs  ,  reaching  to  brush  the  backs  of  his  fingers  along  her  cheek  --  careful  not  to  mess  up  his  daughters  handiwork.    ❛    i  was  wondering  where  my  clothes  had  gone  off  too  ...  i  had  figured  you’d  taken  them  to  wash  y’know  ?    ❜

                         AT  FIRST  HE’S  STUNNED  ,  sitting  beside  her  in  the  quiet  of  the  moon  light  --  only  stars  witness  to  their  meeting.  her  words  were  only  for  him  ,  &  in  return  his  heart  beat  more  for  her  --  he  yearned  more  for  her  love  with  every  breath.  eyes  opened  wide  as  he  studied  her  face  ,  trying  to  find  some  underlying  meaning  to  her  words  ;  yet  all  he  found  was  her  LOVE  --  his  cheeks  warm  as  he  carefully  reaches  his  hands  for  her,  pulling  her  into  his  warm  embrace.

his  chest  rumbles  with  embarrassed  laughter  ,  it’s  soft  as  his  lips  press  to  her  forehead  ;  doing  everything  he  can  to  not  SMOTHER  her  in  all  of  his  growing  affection.

               ❛    i’m  not  as  good  with  words  as  you  --  but  i  do  know  that  i  love  you  .... that  i’ll  ALWAYS  love  you  ,  even  if  all  the  stars  fade  &  there’s  no  more  light  in  the  world  ...    ❜  he  pulls  back  to  give  her  a  smile  ,  grinning  ear  to  ear  as  he  does  his  best  to  convey  his  feelings.    ❛    you’ll  always  be  my  sun  ,  my  stars  ...  my  EVERYTHING  ...    ❜

                     IT  TAKES  HIM  A  MOMENT  TO  CATCH  THE  BOYS  EYE  ,  peeking  over  finally  before  it  causes  him  pause.  he  isn’t  sure  why  kawaki  is  staring  to  intently  ,  almost  enough  to  make  the  man  feel  a  bit  bashful  before  he  reaches  over  &  ruffles  the  boy’s  hair  between  his  fingers.  a  grin  on  his  face  that’s  full  of  love  for  the  boy  before  he  whispers  only  to  him.

                                 HE  SHOULD  BE  USED  TO  THIS  BY  NOW  ,  he  should  not  question  nor  even  think  about  it  ---  yet  his  eyes  can’t  help  but  watch  as  his  uncle  fiddles  &  STRANGELY  enters  his  office.   every  day  is  a  new  day  ,  &  a  new  day  brings  a  new  way  of  entering  his  office  ;  yet  his  tired  sigh  stays  the  same.

                                  ❛    YOU’RE  RIGHT  ...    ❜   how  foolish  he  could  have  forgotten  something  as  simple  as  that.  perhaps  he  truly  was  getting  RUSTY  behind  that  desk  he  worked  oh-so-hard  to  sit  behind.  he  snorts  &  tries  his  best  to  shake  off  the  unease  he’d  felt  ,  giving  his  friend  a  small  smile  as  he  tries  to  get  back  to  how  he  USED  to  be.  

he’d  always  been  one  to  follow  his  gut  ,  since  when  was  he  one  to  IGNORE  it  --  it  had  gotten  him  this  far  ,  it  almost  didn’t  sit  right  that  he  was  now  trying  to  distance  himself.

                      HE  WOULD  HAVE  NO  TIME  ,   optics  throw  themselves  over  the  battle  field  ;  trying  ,  BEGGING  for  any  other  outcome  but  this.  hands  reach  for  her  ,  yet  he  knows  that  he’s  too  far  to  save  her  from  saving  HIM.  watching  her  fly  through  the  air  it  plays  in  his  mind  in  slow  motion  ;  panic  setting  it  more  quickly  then  his  mind  can  process.  

reaching  once  more  he’s  finally  quick  enough  to  grab  hold  of  her  BROKEN  frame  before  she  could  ragdoll  to  the  ground  ,  teeth gritting  at  he  curses  himself  for  not  watching  the  female  closer  ---  no  ,  for  not  being  STRONGER.  

                                         ❛    sakura-chan  !!   can  ---  can  you  hear  me  ?    ❜  he’s  doing  his  best  not  to  shout  ,  eyes  stinging  with  the  internal  anxiety  that  this  could  be  the  worst  case  scenario.  he  knew  she  was  stronger  then  this  ,  but  she’d  done  this  for  him  &  with  that  fact  alone  ,  as  the  HOKAGE  &  as  her  FRIEND  ;  he  would  NEVER  forgive  himself  if  she  had  seriously  been  hurt.
