Er wollte nicht wegschauen; konnte nicht wegschauen und sah schlussendlich dabei zu, wie ihr Körper zu Staub zerfiel und lediglich ihr schlichtes Kleid in seinen Armen zurückblieb. Das Beben seiner Unterlippe war das erste Anzeichen dafür, dass Zeev sich nicht unter Kontrolle hatte. Dass ein Sturm in ihm wütete, von dem er sich nicht lossagen konnte. Sie war fort, würde nicht mehr wieder kommen und es war seine Schuld. Seit Wochen beschwor sie ihn, mit ihr wegzulaufen, sein Leben hier am Hof zurückzulassen und seinen Titel abzulegen. Er entschied sich dagegen und somit auch gegen sie. Nun würde er mit der Konsequenz leben müssen. „Es ist deine Schuld, Zeev. Nur du bist dafür verantwortlich.“ Die Stimme seines Vaters war laut; sie durchschnitt die Stille wie eine verdammt scharfe Klinge. Es war seine Schuld. Es war seine verfluchte eigene Schuld. Rot.
