"Trying to give The Navigator a bit of a more approachable look?" He couldn't help but inquire, watching Takumi practically PRANCE around the ship and utterly smothering every surface with flowers. "While I do enjoy the more colorful decor, if it was looking too gloomy for you, you could have just said so, my precious pearl."

     “... Hm?” The question didn’t fully register as the blond sat in bed, legs off the side and ready to be fitted in his boots, but not quite having gotten to that point just yet. Link was never a morning person, but duty and responsibility certainly made him APPEAR as so. Anyone with access to his quarters before he was composed would certainly find the truth behind such pretenses. 

     Such difficulties with mornings, however, didn’t reflect in any way how well or terribly his night went. In fact, last night the captain slept quite SOUNDLY. The best rest of his life, he would argue, but then again...

     A smile tugged at his lips, giving the usual stern salt-faring captain a rather DOPEY look.

     “With you? Heavenly. As always”

    ❀                 °◌̊˖⁺⋆◌ CORAL sunsets bathing ocean waters in flames, sending dazzling lights dancing across one’s vision in a blinding display; An equally dazzling smile shared among kindred free spirits, hovering around each other in search of comfort and SOFTNESS in a world that’s SHARP and cruel; The music of jovial bands playing on the streets, and just as jovial boots joining in the dance as one as laughter fills the air; Lullabies sung in the quiet of night under star-filled skies, an ocarina carved out of a seashell accompanying the haunting melody.

     Stunning PEARLS strung across oneself lavishly, falling like curtains in a crowned halo atop golden hair; Soft caresses and generous kisses among the breath of whispered I love you’s; Fresh saltwater air and the cries of gulls overhead, the crashing of waves against the hull as it navigates the seven seas with purpose. 

     Fresh cut fruit and sweet desserts, all shared and indulged with someone ADORED; Glittering scales and sharpened blades, a reminder of that which is sworn to be protected      no matter the COST; Treasure troves and scattered maps; Swimming together through a vibrant, colorful, coral reef.

     It wasn’t a complaint (far from it, actually), but Takumi was certainly one to give affection whenever given the chance. No hesitation nor verbal inquire in seek of permission. The merman simply saw Link, and dove in for the kill KISS whenever he saw fit... and goodness, did it leave the captain and his suave demeanor melting and flustered each time.

     “T-... Takumi.” He was trying to get work done, or charting their next course would never get done by morning, and they would DRIFT further off course by sunrise.

     But Link found himself not upset in the slightest, tapered ears blooming with color as he pressed his lips together and absorbed every kiss to his face. It was SWEET, sweeter than the waters from fresh coconuts; Sweeter than the pies from any port’s bakery. Takumi himself was just so terribly sweet, and Link was all too willing to indulge in such pure sugar, flustered as it made him internally.

     The bird set loose within his chest FLUTTERED so wildly, its song unheard by any other, but Link heard it loud and clear.

     “You’re spoiling me rotten~” The blond murmured, lips finally curling after enduring an onslaught of kisses from the merman, only to reciprocate and attack with some of his own. Lips found their mark on a tanned cheek, nose, jaw, and chin, CALCULATING his next move before diving in for the merman’s own mouth. Firm and lasting, he pressed further against Takumi’s lips before returning to his cheeks for another few more.

     Link was beaming by now.

     “May I finish my work now?” The captain questioned through a grin, finger tapping the very tip of the merman’s nose affectionately. “Or would you like me to later?”

     Because Link was only MORE than willing to devote his time to Takumi, should he wish it.

     It had been silent on the deck that night, ship docked and awaiting the sun’s rays before The Navigator would return to sea on yet another long journey. Despite the captain’s gaze fixated on dark waters below, however, Link could clearly HEAR the other’s approach long before he felt the other’s presence at his side. Takumi’s company was a welcomed one, greatly so, especially on nights like this where the blond felt restless.

     Then he felt fingers graze his own, threading together neatly and filling him with such WARMTH that his response had been near instantaneous      His lips tugged into a gentle smile, switching the hand to hold the merman’s own, so instead, he could wrap the nearest arm around the other and tug him close. Cheek pressed into the seaborn’s shoulder momentarily, before lips found their mark there instead.

     Link breathed in saltwater air, and suddenly, all was RIGHT in the world.

     “Can’t sleep either, my precious pearl?” He murmured, planting yet another gesture of affection against Takumi’s cheek. “Or have you come to whisk me away to bed? Perhaps I could be swayed if you asked nicely~” Came the light teases, already feeling the beginnings of sleepiness begin to take him. Funny how a single person’s mere PRESENCE could awaken an ocean’s worth of soothing emotion within you.

     Takumi should know already that he would take no SPECIAL amount of persuasion... After all, the merman had the captain wrapped around his pretty little finger      thoroughly.

     It always felt good to have solid land ‘neath one’s feet, no matter how much LOVE one had for the waves of the sea. Link felt as though it had been far too long since he’d ventured though a town, their last trip having taken longer than anticipated. It had been even longer since he’d last basked in the presence of flourishing blossoms and felt the silkiness of colorful petals between his fingers, but it seemed this port had a knack for nurturing greenery within every nook and crevice its town and HUMBLE buildings could provide.

     These people were humble. Link didn’t want to think just how VULNERABLE they would be against a visit by less than friendly sea-farers.

     “Ah     ” Thoughts were quick to derail as his vision was suddenly filled with vibrant color, sunshine yellows and sunset oranges tickling his nose from the proximity. Behind the pleasant scent of flora stood the BEAMING smile of a familiar precious treasure of the sea, positively radiant in his eagerness as he presented the hand-wrapped bouquet, surely from one of many a shop which dotted the line of the bustling, wisteria-lined street.

     Feeling his own mouth curve into a smile, the captain accepted the gifted bundle with a PLAYFUL bow, giving the flowers a moment’s appreciation before his attention returned to the merman in full.

     “Thank you, my precious pearl~ They’re beautiful.” He made a point to trail a finger across floral faces, taking in their scent with a small kiss to their petals. “Hmm...” The attention was short lived, for the blond was then reaching forth to BRUSH fingers across Takumi’s cheek, planting a more tender kiss to his beloved’s lips thereafter. “Though, not as beautiful as you, my treasure.”

     There was still much to be done before The Navigator left dock the next morning, supplies in need of RESTOCKING, courses to properly chart, pockets in need of lightening (Though that was a matter left for when night fell-- there was a particular target in mind). With so much planning still left, it was WISE for the captain to get an early start on the day, for maximum efficiency’s sake.

     A certain little guppy was making that VERY difficult, eliciting a dramatic sigh from the blond.

     “Do you plan on holding me captive for long, my precious pearl?” He murmured whilst he nuzzled his face into the crown of the merman’s head, tone conveying all of his FONDNESS and entirely lacking any venom. “I have a terribly long day ahead of me, you know.” Yet his voice carried no rush, arms wrapping themselves entirely around the other’s form as he curled in closer.

     Another sigh, this one expressing nothing but CONTENT as thick lashes fluttered shut in bliss from the comfortable presence of a familiar warmth pressed against him. With lips lazily planting a series of kisses to pale tresses, there was a final shove of his cheek against Takumi’s head to signal an end to his preparation for more rest. No convincing of his seaborn lover to allow him leave, no INSISTENCE of starting his day as planned-- only readjustment and a return to comfort.

     It was a whole new challenge in of itself, to ever deny something Takumi wanted. It was hard to say ‘no’ to such a pretty face, and heart of GOLD.

     It had been a long day and a job well done, in his opinion, the sore in both muscle and bone telling him as much. Though the day was far from over, the captain retreated to his quarters all the same, convinced that he DESERVED a small break. With his body slumped thoroughly within his hammock, arm folded over face, it didn’t take long for sleep to overtake him.

     Exhausted as he was, however, Link certainly hadn’t made it as far as he did by being a heavy sleeper. When one was in his position, they needed to hone their natural instincts to be ALERT at any given moment, and it was because of such that he was roused into alertness upon the presence of another entering his quarters-- uninvited, no less. This would normally be cause for worry, however, the blond knew those footsteps by heart, and rather than jolt upright in preparation for a fight, he remained unmoving and unresponsive instead. Plotting, WAITING, he wanted the merman to come just close enough to startle...

     ... and instead, it was he who was caught off guard, Takumi being quick to practically leap into the hammock and lay atop the pirate captain with a SATISFIED expression.

     That cheeky merman.

     “Hello to you, too, my little pearl.” The blond GRITTED out through exhaled breath, hunch ever so slightly in an effort to regain the air that was pressed right out of him. “So eager to leap into my bed-- Come to warm me up~?” He spoke the words through a chuckle, fingers now rising to brush pale tresses from a tanned face.

     The music to play was jovial and lively, the band of OBVIOUS friends who have played together for seemingly years nodding and smiling at one another and flowing through the melody as though it were second nature. The captain had seen this group perform before, and there was never two songs quite alike as the last, as though the troupe had improvised almost all of their performances on solely TRUST and synchronicity alone.

     Their day was to be a long one, stretching far into the long late nights as the crew of The Navigator stocked up on supplies and performed their duties to those in need, but Link spared, at the very least, this moment of his day. The sun had yet to fully set, casting BLAZING hues across the pier, and he would take in the moment to it’s fullest, while he had the air to breathe into his lungs.

     Of course, it would seem that Takumi, too, had the same sentiment, that tanned hand grasping at his own paler one before he felt himself TUGGED into the small crowd. Admittedly, there was a graceless stumble, the blond having not expected the merman to throw him into the midst of the celebration, but he recovered as best as he could with a flush of his face. Usually it was him making the moves on the other, and yet here he found himself, FLOUNDERING like a fish in the midst of Takumi’s invitation, and yet no matter how hard he tried to recover, he remained as nervous and stuttering as a TEENAGE boy.

     Oh, what has this SIREN of the sea done to him?

     “You could have asked to dance....” He mumbled, using the lack of communication as an excuse for his terribly FLUSTERED composure. Even as cheeks bloomed in bright red hues, hands moved to grasp the other’s own, taking his stance in the ballad they were about to share in together. “... I-I wasn’t prepared...”

     Excuses, excuses...

     Of all the things he’d expected the other to call the small, snack size treat, the LAST thing on his thoughts had been... well, that. Stunned and effectively caught off guard, he could only stand there with a stare as the merman seemed to enjoy his given treat, the pirate captain’s own having remained forgotten at hand whilst sapphires stayed unblinking.

     “... W... What did you...--??” What on earth did Takumi CALL them?

     Finally, amusement settled in his mind, a chuckle rumbling from the back of his throat before growing into full blown laughter. Blond locks swayed with the shake of his head, free hand rising to curl a finger ‘neath his eye, as though wiping away a tear there, despite the overall LACK a presence of such. Goodness gracious, the merman was a quirky one, wasn’t he? Just one of MANY things the captain found oh so endearing.

     “You’re an absolute treasure, my precious little pearl~” He murmured fondly between breathy laughter, leaning forth to press a KISS against the merman’s pale tresses, the distinct scent (and vague taste) of salt assaulting his senses.

     And much like the MERMAN himself, he loved it so.

     “Careful there, little guppy. Don’t want that blade sliding off course, now.” Elbow PROPPED against opposing arm, his finger curled against his lip as he watched with open amusement, eyeing the manner in which the merman desperately tried to pry open the discovered chest. Truth be told, Link himself was growing more curious over the chests contents as time went on, sapphires ROAMING it’s structure as he attempted to figure out what it may house. Decent in size, well-made, and generously latched shut-- there may be something of value within, surely.

     “And where exactly did you find this again, my pretty pearl?” He inquired then, taking a step closer and leaning over to further examine the sides.

     Oh, such lavish attention he received! He could hardly FOCUS on his originally intended task, papers in hand being forgotten in favor reciprocating such sweet gestures of affection. Obviously, whatever information held upon the pages couldn’t be so important if he’d so easily pushed it from his mind (something about cargo? Who cared~). No, no, WRAPPING UP the merman into his hold and planting lingering kisses of his own was a far more important matter of business that needed tending to, in his opinion.

     “Did my little guppy miss me?” He murmured against a tanned cheek, placing yet another kiss on the spot as an eye caught curious gazes directed their way. It hardly mattered-- everyone knew the captain FANCIED the merman, and vice versa. 

     So long as they knew whom not to mess with, lest they LOSE a finger.

     “I have no gifts to shower you with this time, my precious treasure, but I hope my company is enough.” The blond spoke as he leaned back far enough to press his brow against Takumi’s own, a hand rising to gently BRUSH a pinch of fingers to the sea-dweller’s chin as a smile tugged upon his own lips.

     Lips quirk upright at the corners from the gesture, the expression almost smug-like in it’s nature. It’s with a CURLED finger ‘neath the merman’s chin that he leans forth, a tease upon his tongue.

     “You know, they say three times the charm~” And with THAT, he brought their lips together with gusto.

     The sudden embrace had, admittedly, startled the captain momentarily, lashes fluttering DUMBLY as he was stunned by the sheer bubbly force to have slammed into him and clung all around him. Tan arms filled his sight at a glance, and gradually, lips curved into an amused smile. Only Takumi would so BOLDLY dart at him for a hug, and so energetically, too.

     Link had an image to uphold, after all. Not everyone viewed the infamous captain of The Navigator to be so KIND.

     “Looks like I caught a little guppy today~” The blond laughed, shifting so as to RETURN the gesture to the merman. “Does the little fishy have someplace to be, or can he keep a humble visitor some company?”
