               the only good part about getting married was the actual getting married part .. almost like clockwork , veronica finds herself growing tired of her new husband only weeks into the union , quickly finding the honeymoon phase to be sickening and overbearing . can anyone blame her though? this is husband number four , after all .                they’d moved in together a few months prior to being wed , and she still hadn’t adjusted to not having the house to herself , finding it weird to be sharing with more than one other person . maybe that’s why she’s walking around in next to nothing , clad in lacy lingerie and a silky , black robe hanging off her shoulders , waltzing bare-foot through the home under the assumption that her husband was at work , which meant she had the house to herself at long last! or so she thought . she wanders into the kitchen , rummaging through the fridge for the ingredients needed to make herself an iced mocha , blissfully ignorant of the watchful eyes , humming to herself .

open starter from: veronica! open to: m/f/nb (18+)! plot: veronica is recently divorced for like the fourth time and she’s been feeling sorry for herself and she goes to her best friends party and hits it off with her friends son/daughter.

               veronica very rarely left the comfort of her own these days , preferring to spend her time alone whenever she wasn’t working , whether it be on a new book , a show she was either acting in , producing , directing ( or all three at the same time ) or just an interview or a photoshoot , she was never not busy and she enjoyed being single after so many failed marriages - or so she claims to be . in actuality , she was awfully lonely . she wasn’t entirely sure how to get herself back out there , not when she was too old and too famous for dating apps like the majority of people were using nowadays . she’s kind of just accepted her fate of being happy with her own company .                she had a few days free of a hectic schedule , having flown out of state to attend a close friends birthday party , over the moon to be able to go and celebrate it with them . whilst she loved her friend , she was somewhat envious of their lifestyle - happily married for the past thirty years , children that were now mature and no longer needing constant tending to , whilst she had never been able to experience such joys of love and motherhood .                 she’s two champagne flutes deep as she approached her friends eldest , tapping them on the shoulder before greeting them with a grin .  “ hi , darling! i was just wondering where your mother got to? she has a tendency to invite me to parties filled with faces i don’t recognise only to leave me stranded and alone , how cruel! “

               her blood was boiling , which usually wasn’t the case when she was at a party   -   but she hadn’t the faintest idea that it would be a surprise party for suri’s engagement , an engagement which veronica was very much unaware of . obviously no one knew that veronica was upset , she’s an actress for crying out loud! but that doesn’t mean she’s going to keep up the act all night . deep down she knows she has no claim over suri , that suri   -   the daughter of her best friend   -   isn’t hers , and probably never would be , but that didn’t stop the older woman from feeling stabbed in the back .                 fingers wrapped around the girls wrist , offering to help her grab something from inside as the two enter the kitchen , closing the door behind them only to press suri back against it .  “ i go out of state for , what? two weeks? and you go and get engaged? “  she’s dropped the act now , annoyance apparent in her tone as she glared down at the girl .  “ having a boyfriend’s fine , but a fiancé?! did you learn nothing from watching me and my failed marriages when you were growing up? jesus christ , you don’t cum for two weeks and you lose your fucking mind . “

               veronica absolutely despises celebrating her birthday . she was one hundred percent the type of person to go all out for a dear friends birthday , spending nearly thousands on venue and food alone , but being the one having money spent on her .. it just didn’t sit right with the actress . well that , plus she hates celebrating the fact that she was getting older . fifty-two to be exact . the balloons announced it like it was a winning lottery number .                 still , she’d dressed up   -   having gone along with her friends tacky lure of a small dinner with friends only to be surprised by masses , most of whom she hardly even liked . goes to show how well her best friend knows her . she’s done her rounds of greeting partygoers , having thanked them for their gifts , the mountain of which covered at least three tabletops . and , most importantly of all , she’d endured it . all whilst remaining sober because of her new health kick . she’ll still sneak outside for a cigarette , though .                 she spots the guy she remembers her friend having rambled on about , taking up too much of her time with nonsense regarding men . after all , she is four divorces in . she’s feeling extra petty tonight , hence why she approaches him .  “ jack , right? you’re the owner of this fine establishment? may i have a word? “

              she’s already two glasses of champagne down , having whipped out the most expensive bottle that they’d been saving for their anniversary to mourn the anticipated loss of her fourth marriage ( & her self - confidence !! ) . how does she always manage to marry the wrong one ?? not once , not twice , not even three times .. but four consecutive marriages , all down the drain . she really does know how to pick them .                 the sound of a knock at the door causes her to flinch , but she doesn’t move .  “ the doors open !! “  how very not veronica of her . usually she’d have her staff in to take care of anyone & everyone , but she’d told them not to come in that day , to spend time with their families & to not worry about their wages because veronica would ensure her husband paid them over .                 she pours herself another glass , dark orbs narrowing up towards the source of the knock as they entered her home .  “ oh , it’s you . “  it’s not that she’s not happy to see them , but they pose a constant reminder of how she’s not good enough for their father .  “ can i help you with something ?? “

               property buying to her was how shoe shopping is to others , & she doesn’t take that for granted . when she invests her money , she invests it wisely , & into homes in locations that could actually rake in a hefty profit , hence why she’d recently bought a grand penthouse that was , ‘ coincidentally ‘ , within walking distance of sejoo’s club .                 it’d been a while since they’d last interacted , & she’d felt hard done to when she had to leave to carry out the schedule for the film she’d been promoting at the time . but now she was back , & she’d made the journey out of her own time , meaning she had plenty of time to visit one of her newest .. friends ( ?? ) . she sat quietly in a booth , tucked away as she sips on her large glass of white wine , having asked one of the waiters to collect sejoo so she could ‘ complain in person about the quality of service , ‘ ( which she actually saw no fault in , really ) .  /  @amissums.

                 one of the worst things that came with running her own entertainment empire was the amount of assistants and interns she’d managed to get through already. each was just as bad as the last, and none seemed to make her life any less stressful — though she knows it wasn’t necessarily just their faults. she can he hard to please.                  the set for the new movie she’d been directing was buzzing as per, but she’d called them to one side, hiding out in her trailer as she tried to find a kind way to explain that they were just getting under her feet.  “ listen, darling — you’re a train wreck. i know this probably isn’t what you want to hear, but you need to pull yourself together. you’re embarrassing me. just because you’ve got a pretty face doesn’t mean you can get away with slacking off. “  she placed her clipboard down on the tabletop. leaning across it and towards the other.  “ i run a tight ship, you know? and i promise, i will be on your ass. “

             she was used to being tormented at events such as this , though usually it was in the form of useless questions being asked by useless men . though this time she’d found herself growing more & more flustered as the night went on thanks to her friends relentless daughter .               it wasn’t until afterwards that she was able to 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫 the girl , any concerns about being caught temporarily out of the window as her finger & thumb cup a little harshly at either side of the girls jaw , tilting her head back to look her in the eyes .  “ do you think your daddy would like knowing that his whore of a daughter couldn’t keep her hands to herself during his important seminar ?? “

               it felt as though the blood had left her body & had somehow managed to be replaced with liquid stress .. she was a well - kept woman , but hosting an event on such a large scale ?? now that’s enough to make even the calmest of people see red , she’s sure . especially when her ex - husband waltzed in with his new mistress , who was at least half his age ( as expected ) .                she’d graciously taken the opportunity to slip out & allow her staff to keep the madness at bay when she’d been beckoned to her private chambers, nimble digits fiddling with the backs of her earrings, taking the chance to tangle the dangling diamonds from long, dark tresses.     ‘  - whatever it is you’re need to tell me, make it snappy . i have guests over, if you weren’t aware .  ‘

               “ i wish you’d stop sending me those weird , temporary pictures .. “  - she’s referring to the other’s incessant snapchatting . she’d only downloaded the app to appeal to her younger generation of fans that her newer release of films were beginning to appeal to .                slender fingers comb through silky locks , eyes narrowing somewhat as her hand extends to cup the others chin , guiding their head back a tad to drag their gaze away from her cleavage & back up to her actual eyes .  “ my eyes . they’re up here . “
