'24.3.10 片岡梅林、東大寺にて
霜を期待して出かけるもハズレ・・なので飛火野道向かいの梅林で梅撮り。鹿さんと梅のマッチング、高低差があって難しい・・。
今はお水取りの時期。お松明などの準備で活気づいてるだろうと二月堂へ向かいますが、道中の春の気配に引きずられてなかなか前に進めずw・・。
鐘楼を経由して、ようやくお堂の屋根が見えるとこまで来ました・・。

TBHX OC 梅林 (Maylin)
只关心里之所向的远方。
Concern yourself only with the distance following the direction of your heart.
Contracted under DOS.
Birthday: 03/07
Horoscope: Pisces
Height: 155cm
Interests/Skills: Gardening, sunbathing on lazy mornings
Superpower: ???
More character notes below.
梅林 (meilin) means plum grove; it is used as a transliteration of Merlin. I have opted to transliterate as Maylin since I feel this is more appropriate for my OC; Maylin is typically the romanization of 美琳 (meilin), beautiful jade (and 琳 is made from the combination of 王 from 王女/Queen + 林). 美琳 is somewhat of a homophone of 梅林 as they only differ in tones.
The numbers in 03/07 (March 7th) are a reference to how in Daoism, 3 is a number associated with yang, and 7 is likewise for yin. I'm reaching hard here.
Pisces is two fish; this horoscope has favorable compatibility with Queen's Libra, balanced against her scales.
I like height difference, so she's 25cm shorter than Queen (180cm). For easy visualization:
Tumblr media
Will post the drawing in a month or two, I am exceptionally busy at work and in my free time is eaten up by my social life. And I draw really slow. So. Please bear with me. Here's some ideas though:
Her design was made with the intention of complementing Queen: short VS long hair, red and purple VS white and gold, a hairpin contrasting a crown, and cloth in place of armor.
In combination, these features are meant to highlight her lack of martial prowess - she's not a fighter the same way other heroes are, but that's not a problem. There's more than one way to be someone's hero.
For her clothes, I drew inspiration from modern hanfu designs (AKA scrolled Taobao for a few hours).

What a lovely name! 梅林 Umebayashi means plum grove. It can also be read Bairin, or in rare cases, Umehayashi or Ubayashi.
梅, or plum, is read うめ or バイ. It's made up of 木 tree and 毎 each/every.
林, or forest/grove, is read はやし or リン. It's made up of two 木 tree radicals.

Chapter 10-7 Plum Grove's Enchanted Land (梅林幻境)
Chapter 10-6
.
.
.
Feng Yuan's condition took a sharp turn for the worse, and even his consciousness became increasingly blurred.
I haven't slept all night, and before dawn, another piece of bad news arrived.
Zhan Yun: Princess, the team transporting the medicinal herbs has been blocked by heavy snow on the road. It has been two days, and they cannot move forward.
Princess: How much stock of the medicine is left in Lingzhou?
Zhan Yun: The exact inventory is still being calculated, but it won't last for many more days.
Princess: This won't do. Zhan Yun, send someone to meet that team, the sooner the better!
Zhan Yun: Yes.
After Zhan Yun left, I didn't stay here for long. I put on my cloak and pushed the door open.
Princess: The medicine from Lingzhou can only alleviate the symptoms, it's not enough to cure the disease. Once the medicine is cut off, the consequences would be unimaginable.
I walked out of the house and suddenly smelled a strange, faint fragrance. The world spun around me, as if everything was upside down. I held onto the door frame for a moment to steady myself.
Princess: It's the scent of plum blossoms... Right... Between Feng Yuan's residence and the market, there is a small plum grove.
I looked up and forward. The plum grove, which was bare last night, was now full of blossoms.
Princess: ...This is!
I gripped the door frame, staring in astonishment at the bizarre scene before me. In just one night, the entire plum grove had bloomed. This was far too abnormal.
I made my way through the trees, but the grove seemed to have no end. The scene before my eyes kept repeating – plum trees, white snow, endless and infinite.
The deeper I went, the stronger the strange fragrance became.
Princess: Cough... cough, cough...
Suddenly, a fierce wind swept up the falling snow, creating a blizzard that blotted out the sky.
I nearly collapsed onto the snow, but demonic red plum petals gathered and gently lifted me up.
Zhongwu Xiang: The snowy landscape was a bit too monotonous, so I added some red plums. Do you like it?
I abruptly looked up.
Princess: Who is there?!
Tinkle – tinkle—
The sound of bells wrapped around me. The swirling snow before my eyes dissipated, and my vision gradually cleared. I finally saw the man sitting in the tree.
The man in green and red robes had a smile playing on his lips, and his eyes were as gorgeous as red plums, yet devoid of any warmth, cold as ice.
My gaze followed his sharp jawline down to his neck, where a ferocious talisman was visible, as if sealing in the pervasive demonic aura.
Princess: ... Insolent! Do you know who I am?!
Dancing petals enveloped me like a tightly woven net, rendering me immobile. I glared at the man in frustration.
The man casually plucked a plum blossom. Its delicate petals rubbed against his fingertip, producing a sticky, crimson sap.
Zhongwu Xiang: Of course. I see the ruler of this land.
His gaze, like a raging fire, licked at my eyes.
Zhongwu Xiang: She wears elaborate and heavy dragon robes, the twelve crowns obscuring her stunning face, yet unable to hide her ambitious gaze.
Zhongwu Xiang: The black bird brought the immortal branch, the temple offered its sacred soil, all to build a platform for her to overlook a thousand autumns.
Zhongwu Xiang: She has only one identity, and that is the Emperor.
In a mere instant, he appeared before me. Those red eyes finally revealed a scorching heat, and I was engulfed by a desire called greed.
Zhongwu Xiang: I finally found you.
Princess: ...
Sensing his eyes manipulating my will, I bit down hard on my tongue. A spark of clarity shot through my mind.
I abruptly broke free from the restraints and shot out a hidden arrow from my sleeve. I was too close to him, and the sharp arrow grazed the man's face, scattering a trail of crimson on the snow.
The petals supporting me vanished. I tried to grab him, but in the next moment, the man disappeared right before my eyes.
Princess: Ugh...
I fell to the ground, the demonic man nowhere to be seen.
Princess: Who are you?! If you've come to kill me, then I'm afraid you'll be disappointed!
Zhongwu Xiang: Hahahahaha... Kill you? No, I've only come to take something.
The ethereal voice came from all directions. In the swirling snow, I couldn't discern the man's location.
Princess: Something?
Could it be... the Yao Guang Record?
Zhongwu Xiang: No, no, no. I have no interest in that.
There was no time to wonder how he knew my thoughts. Xiao Huang suddenly flew out from my arms.
He perched on my shoulder, his crest flared, and let out a series of sharp cries towards something in front of us.
Xiao Huang: Screech—screech—chirp!
In that instant, a flash of red flitted through the curtain of snow. Without hesitation, I raised my arm and released another hidden arrow.
The sharp arrow pierced the figure's throat. Large red plum blossoms gushed out from the gaping wound, and the figure swayed and dissolved, turning into a pile of dazzling petals on the snowy ground.
I stood still, and the surrounding plum trees began to tremble slightly.
Red plum blossoms fell from the branches, the snow settled, and the lush branches gradually returned to their original bare state.
The man reappeared before me, but this time, in reality.
Zhongwu Xiang: It seems the Princess doesn't like this plum grove.
I hate things that aren't real, and I hate people who touch my things without my consent.
With a click, the mechanism of the hidden arrow detached, and a sharp blade appeared in my palm.
Zhongwu Xiang: Oh?
I reversed the blade, pressing it against the man's throat, while Xiao Huang, wings spread, fiercely spewed flames at him.
I had never seen Xiao Huang so angry and agitated.
Princess: What you want is him.
Zhongwu Xiang: The Princess has finally figured it out.
Princess: Why?
The man didn't answer. His gaze fell thoughtfully on Xiao Huang, and after a long moment, he looked at me.
Zhongwu Xiang: The answer is no longer important. It's a pity, I can't take him today.
He was about to raise his hand when a shadow blade whirled from the sky, aiming straight for the man's vital point.
Qinghun: Princess, be careful!
Zhongwu Xiang: Humph...
With a flick of his wide sleeve, an unknown force shoved me backward until Qinghun caught me securely.
Zhongwu Xiang: We will meet again.
Another series of crisp bells rang out. A sudden gust of wind stirred the snow on the ground. I grabbed Qinghun, who was about to give chase.
Princess: We have more important things to do.
By the time the snow settled, the man had vanished into the depths of the plum grove.
Qinghun: ...Princess!
A wave of dizziness hit me again, and I collapsed into Qinghun's arms.
Princess: I still need... to go... get the medicine...
Qinghun: Princess! Princess...
My consciousness faded, Qinghun's voice dissolving into the distance, and I fell into darkness.

'23.3.4 片岡梅林にて
今朝出会った鹿さん。まだ幼さが残る雰囲気。でも後ろの左足が悪く、ぎこちなく歩いていました。
ふと気が付くと咲き始めた紅梅を背に、僕を見ていました。
・・とても優しい表情。自らが持つハンディキャップも受け入れてなお、素直に生きようとする意志もじて、ファインダー越しにきゅんとなりました。
・・でも口元は木枯らし紋次郎w

Sorry if this is something that's been asked before, but have you chosen the kanji for your characters' names? If so, can we see them?!
AAHHHH i love this question so much, thank you for asking!!
SO neoma...doesn’t have any kanji for her name because it’s not actually a japanese name. in the original version of atms, she was of a mixed background but that has changed in recent versions and i’m still trying to decide whether i’m going to change neoma’s name or go big and try to create the name with kanji myself. we’ll see how that goes...
as for takeda the kanji i use for it are  武田 ;  武 (take) meaning “military” and  田 (ta or da) meaning “rice field” !!
however! she also has a an alternate name that she goes by when she’s with the umebayashi clan!
masaru umebayashi --   勝 (masaru) meaning “victory” ! as for the family name:  梅林 ;  梅 (ume) meaning “plum” and 林 (hayashi) meaning “grove, forest.” !!
now! for the rest of the cast thus far, here we go!
shiroze takeda --    白瀬 ;  白 (shiro) meaning "white" and  瀬 (ze) meaning "swift current" ! and he has the same family name as neoma, so  武田
genkei umebayashi -- i literally cannot find the original kanji i use for this dude but his name means “to be honored” !  as for the family name:  梅林 ;  梅 (ume) meaning “plum” and 林 (hayashi) meaning “grove, forest.”
isao murakami --   勲 for isao, which means something akin to “achievement” or “distinguished service” ! for the family name:  村上 ;  村 (mura) meaning “village” and  上 (kami) meaning “up”, so upper village!
kazuyuki murakami --  和雪 ;  和 (kazu) meaning "harmony, peace, soften" and  雪 (yuki) meaning snow !! he has the same family name as isao.
akito murakami --  明人 ;  明 (aki) meaning “bright” and  人 (to) meaning “person” !! he has the same family name as isao.
rin murakami --  凛 (rin) which means "dignified, severe, cold" ! she has the same family name as isao
okemia yamasaki -- can’t find the kanji but i picked this name way back so idk, i may change her given name! however, her family name is:  山崎 ; 山 (yama) which means "mountain" and 崎 (saki) meaning "cape, peninsula" !
makoto morimoto --  誠 (makoto) which means “sincerity” ! as for his family name:  森本 ; 森 (mori) meaning "forest" and 本 (moto) meaning "base, root, origin", so something akin to “one who lives near the forest” !
kaito takahashi --  海翔 ; 海 (kai) meaning "sea, ocean" and 翔 (to) meaning "soar, fly" !! for his family name: 高橋 ; 高 (taka) meaning "tall, high" and 橋 (hashi) meaning "bridge" !!
sora matsui --  昊 (sora) which means “sky” !! and for their family name:  松居 ;  松 (matsu) which means “pine tree” and 居 (i) which means “reside with” !!
kosuke himura -- 康介 ; 康 (kō) meaning "peace" and 介 (suke) which means "forerunner, herald" ! i’ve seen a popular meaning of the name as “rising sun” and i love that, though i haven’t found the kanji to back it up/idk how they get that meaning. but that’s the desired meaning. for the family name:  緋村 ; 緋 (hi) meaning "scarlet, dark red" and 村 (mura) which means "town, village" !!
katsuo sugawara -- 勝雄 ;  勝 (katsu) meaning "victory" and 雄 (o) meaning "hero, manly" ! for his family name: 菅原 ;  菅 (suga) meaning "sedge" and 原 (wara) meaning "field" !!
izumi endo -- 泉 (izumi) meaning "fountain, spring" !! their family name is: 遠藤 ; 遠 (en) which means "distant" and 藤 (do) meaning "wisteria." !!
omg that was a lot of kanji to go through! and that’s not even all the characters yet, oop! anyway, i hope you have fun reading this!! i really enjoyed typing this out <3
