스나이퍼 과거 해드캐넌 있나요

아 이거 예전에 wake in fright(1971)보고 연관지어서 짧게 써둔게 있는데 못 찾겠네요......... 대충 믹 먼디에서 스나이퍼가 된 과정과 배경에 대한 얘기였습니다.. 고로 이번엔 먼디의 어릴때에 초점을 두고 조금 적어보겠습니다

먼디도 처음부터 사람 쏘는 청부업을 목적으로 저격을 시작하진 않았겠죠.. 멀쩡하게 농장 운영하는 화목한 가정에서 자랐으니까 가정 외 사회에서 지금의 스나이퍼가 만들어지는 계기가 생겼을 것 같네요

스나는 호주인이지만(실은 뉴질랜드인이지만) 괴력, 덩치, 성격, 가슴털이나 수염같은 호주인의 특징은 전혀 보이지 않는데서 오는 괴리감과 불안이 상당했을 것 같습니다.. 이때문에 또래집단에서 배척당한 경험도 있을 것 같고요. 코믹스 속 호주인들 보면 본인들의 ���월성에 자부심이 강해보이던데 거기에 특유의 폭력성을 생각하면 애가 진짜 살기 팍팍했을듯요. 극단적으로 비유하자면 저희 현실에서의 장애인이나 외국인 취급 받으며 살아왔을 것 같네요.(비하의 의미가 결코 아닙니다..)

그럼 믹 먼디는 왜 저격을 시작했을까요? 저격은 다른 호주인들과 자기 사이의 힘의 차이(물리적이든 사회적이든)와 괴리, 열등감을 해소하기 위한 좋은 수단이 아니었을까 생각해봅니다. 캥거루도 때려잡는 호주인일지라도 먼곳에서 숨어서 던지는 돌까지 피하는건 힘들테니까요.. 공식발 글에서 또래 애들을 나무위에서 새총으로 맞췄다 이런걸 봤던 것 같은데 정확한 내용과 출처가 기억나지 않아서 아쉽네요ㅠ

처음엔 자기 괴롭히는 애들에 대한 단순한 복수에서 저격과 사냥이 주는 재미의 인지...실력도 인정받고 돈도 받는 자칭 전문직으로 변화하지 않았을까여.... 게다가 그시대 호주 오지의 농장주인 아들이란점을 생각하면 어릴때부터 도축이나 사냥에 익숙할테고, 생명을 취하거나 폭력행위에 대한 감도 무딜 것 같아서 사람을 저격하는 행위로의 진행도 쉽게 이루어졌을 것 같네요.

마지막으로 스나이퍼 소개글 다시 읽어보고 어이가 없어져서 걍 적어봅니다......ㅋㅋ 호주의 오지에서/ 몇개월을 혼자 지내곤 했다(이짓이 한두번이 아니란 말)/ 오랜 고독은/ 끝에 완벽하게 수행하면 남에게 의지할 필요가 없다는 교훈을 주었다.(=의지할 사람이 없다-> 의지하지 않으려는 독립성의 배경이 단순 기질이 아닌 오랜 고독으로 인한 결과로도 해석 가능)

스나이퍼 보면 볼수록 너무 아웃싸이더 자연인 그 자체에요ㅋㅋㅋ 그러다 용병일하면서 지같은 사람들 만나니까 물만난 고기된것도 참....ㅋㅋ 근데 소개만 보면 말도 안 통하는 아싸일 것 같은데 다른 용병들이랑 같이 있는 묘사들 보면 잘 지내는게 가정환경이 괜찮으니 나름 예의도 있고 사람 대하는 기본적인 기술은 길러졌던 것 같네여

암튼 저의 두서없는 뇌피셜은 이렇습니다..~~...~~~

"사탄 탱고"

1994년에 '사탄 탱고'란 영화가 개봉했다. 흑백이고, 무척 지루하다. 압권은 상영 시간이 7시간이라 졸린 거 억지로 참아가며 3시간 넘게 시청했음에도 아직 반밖에 안 됐었단 거. 그래서 '난 누구? 여긴 어디?' 현타가 오길래 포기.

얼마 전 동네 도서관에서 동명의 소설책을 발견하고 빌림. 저자는 "크러스너호르커이 라슬로"라고 한다. 책은 1985년 출판됐고, 시간이 한참 흐른 2015년에 맨부커상을 받았다고 나와 있다.

책갈피 끈이 잘 말려 있는 거로 미뤄 아마도 내가 처음 빌렸나 보다. 2019년에 3쇄까지 찍은 거 보면 전국적으로는 꽤 호응이 있는 듯.

총 400여 쪽 분량인데 딱히 재미로 펼친 게 아니라 호기심 때문이다 보니 틈틈이 200여쪽 읽었을 때 반납일이 다가와 거기까지만 읽음. 그러고 보니 영화를 반만 봤듯 책도 그리됐네.

그나마 영화보단 책이 볼만 하긴 했다. 배경은 폐허가 돼버린 헝가리 집단 농장이고, 오갈 데 없는 사람들이 살고 있었는데 '이리미아시'라는 사기꾼을 구원자로 착각하면서 이야기가 전개된다. 책을 다 못 읽었으므로 당연히 결말은 모른다.

구글 검색했더니 전반부는 시간 순으로 진행되고, 후반부는 역순이라고 함. 재미도 없는데 이런 짓까지 했다니 끝까지 읽지 않은 게 잘한 거 같기고 하고.

제목의 '탱고'는 실제 춤이나 음악과 딱히 상관은 없는 듯하나 전혀 무관한 것만은 아닌 듯. 책 뒤편에 번역하신 분이 쓴 거로 보이는 소개글에서,

"…집단 농장 마을을 배경으로 절망과 희망 사이에서 허우적거리던 사람들이 체제에 유린당하고 몰락하여 끝내는 고통의 원 안에 갇히고 마는 과정을 탱고의 스텝 - 앞으로 여섯 스텝, 뒤로 여섯 스텝 - 이라는 형식에 맞춰 매혹적이고 무자비하며 경이롭게 그려낸 전설적인 작품이다…"

라고 써놨던데, "앞으로 여섯 스텝, 뒤로 여섯 스텝"은 번역자가 땅고를 춰본 적 없어 6살리다(=땅고 바씨꼬)를 오해한 게 아닐까 짐작.
