This is the day you have trained for, waited for, prayed for. Every temptation won over, every minute trial overcame. You have worked harder than anyone in the Legion for this. Guiding souls across the quiet waters to their final resting places. Obeying every bid from the High Order, bending to the will of God. He said go, you went. He said wait, you waited. He said abstain, you bowed your head. Obeyed. 

You raise your eyes briefly to cast a glance over the flanks of angels standing in respectful stillness as you ascend the steps. You cannot tell from their expressions what they are thinking in this moment, whether they wish it were them in your place, whether they truly believe you deserve it. The position of the Seraph. A place by the hand of the King. 

If you pass the final trials, you will take the burning crown, you will consume the holy flame, and the weary toils of your journey will come to a glorious end. 

This is all you have ever wanted. This is all you have ever lived for. 

Wasn’t it? 

Swallow the unease. They always said doubt was a common part of the experience. Face the doubt, keep your head high. Look it in the face. Stare it down. 

In the palace at the top of the stairs await the High Order, the council of seven angels who distribute the tasks, carry out judgments on the Fallen. The fate of your position rests in their hands, but you feel no fear. 

Yet. 

You reach the top and the angels standing guard at the front (fifth rank, young and stone-faced, eager in their desire to be worthy) open the great doors to let you inside. You walk steadily, serenely down the immense corridor, with ceilings so high and weightless the building seems to open up into the rosy skies of eternity. You feel your feathered wings ghost over the cold marble floor, flowing behind you like a cape. You come to a stop before the Seven, and bow to them. 

“By His Grace,” they murmur to you. 

Dutifully you reply, “by His Grace.” 

“You have toiled faithfully to reach this stage,” said the angel in the center. His sonorous voice echoed through the room. “But before you drink of the Cup, there is one final test to overcome.”

You stand in quiet attention. 

“You will be sent into the company of one of Lucifer’s servants for three days and three nights. If you emerge without being defiled, you will have proven yourself worthy of taking your place as one of the King’s Seraphs.” 

You raise your head. Careful not to betray a hint of emotion, you repeat, “might I know which of the servants I will be contending with?” 

“You will be encountering the Fallen Angel. This is a test of a far more arduous kind than the others you have gone through. You will find yourself pushed to your very limits. If you hold out, if you keep the Holy Word burning in your chest, if you resist the great temptations—only then will you succeed.” 

The Fallen Angel. You have heard the rumors. The infamy of the great fall from grace. A crime so condemnable it made the younger angels turn their faces away in shame. You imagine blackened hands, a shattered heart. It was rumored that The Fallen Angel had two serpent’s heads instead of a human one. No one knew the exact crime that had been committed: some said it was a betrayal to the King Himself, while others insisted it was the murder of a thousand innocent souls. 

You nod. “I am ready.” 

The center angel gives a sweep of his hand. A wild wind rushes through the room and the ceiling opens up to let in a beam of dazzling lightning. You raise your hand to shield your eyes; the wind whipping across your face—your very thoughts melt from your mind in the howling chaos of light and sound. 

When things grow calm again, you are no longer in the palace of the High Order. You are in a different room, a beautifully furnished chamber with a massive, glittering chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Before you is a long banquet table covered with silk tablecloths and heaped high with aromatic food on gleaming golden dinnerware. 

You blink. Looking down, you find that you are dressed in splendid colors, the cloth shimmering like water in the flickering candlelight. Rings adorn your fingers that were not there before. Your wings whisper behind you, and you feel the soft cloth cling to the feathers. 

This is not what you were expecting. You were expecting rugged terrain, a howling tempest. You were expecting to find a sword in your hand, a club, a torch. You were expecting to find yourself wearing the armor of the King, prepared to find yourself in opposition to the terrible beast of Lucifer. 

Instead everything is meticulous and beautiful. You look around, and suddenly become aware of haunting piano music drifting through the building. 

Then: footsteps approaching. 

You square your shoulders and face the open double doors at the end of the banquet hall, prepared to meet your tempter. You brace yourself for the great reveal. This will be the moment of truth—now at last you will meet the enemy. 

But the creature that enters the room is not a creature at all. 

It is a woman. 

A tall, muscular, magnificent woman. 

You try to recover from your shock, but your surprise must have been evident in your eyes, because the woman tilts back her head and laughs. It is a sound as dark and velvety as midnight. There is a husky catch in her throat that makes you think of the sweet spice of nectar. When she steps into the candlelight, you get a proper view of her face. She is achingly handsome, her features bold and sharp; a hooked nose and silvery eyes. Running over her left cheekbone is a scar shaped like the streaks of lightning. 

You part your lips, prying your tongue loose in your dry mouth. “Who…who are you?” You dread the answer even as you ask it. 

The woman meets your gaze. “I am Sevika,” she says. “The Fallen Angel.”

"시리도록 눈부신 (Dazzlingly Brilliant) is coming out into this world

It is a song that I'm really in love with despite having listened to it 10,000 times.

It is a song that unravels a message that I wished to convey since a long time ago.

This might be a long explanation, but I shall write a few words on what I wanted to convey with this song.

I'm about to bid farewell to my twenties and welcome my thirties. hh

Just like how I felt when I turned twenty, I think there's a special feeling coming to me now as I prepare to turn 30 soon, with the first digit of my age changing. I am afraid but also excited, but it also feels like I'm developing a sense of responsibility and the desire for more.

That's why I wanted to create a song that cheers on me and everyone who feels that same special feeling as me. That was how this song started.

My friend and composer Seo Donghwan, who is of the same age as me and experiencing similar times, started creating this powerful cheering song, and this song contains the lyrics of songwriter KENZIE who has been closely watching my music career in my twenties, contains my twenties seen through KENZIE's eyes, and contains my and our feelings towards the welcoming of our thirties.

This explanation was really long, and I was worried that this may limit the emotions felt when listening to the song, but I wrote this with the hope that you would definitely feel the powerful support and comfort that I felt when I made this song.
