I’ve always known Verbal Jint to have this late, chill night vibes which is why I tend to like his music. At least the songs I've heard. His latest song, however, “Cold World” or “비정한 세상, 피토하는 암악,” which features rapper Mommy Son, is quite different from his typical work.

If I’m honest, it sounds kind of cheaply made. However, that doesn’t mean that I dislike it. In fact, I like it! It gives me a retro Rocky-style exercise song—running up bleachers; wear a red headband and short shorts; maybe a bit of air boxing at the park.

Okay. So, if you’ve never heard of Mommy Son, that’s okay. This is my first time hearing of him, too, so I had to research him.

The Pink Masked Rapper first made his appearance in Mnet’s super popular rap show, “Show Me The Money 777,” back in 2018. Judges and viewers alike were certain that he is actually popular rapper Mad Clown in disguise. Mommy Son refused to take off his mask even after he lost the second round due to forgetting his lyrics onstage.

If you’re familiar with Mad Clown, he himself has made that same mistake—forgetting lyrics onstage. Think they’re the same person?

Despite constantly denying it, many seem to believe that they are, indeed the same person. When rapper Swings told him to take off his mask since they know who he is, he replied that the reason he keeps the mask on is because he feels limited as an artist, and the mask gives him a different way of “him” to express himself.

Mommy Son’s concept is quite unique. I will follow him from now on!
