My dearest Phil, 

You're in the air now, on your way to Korea. I think you probably have about 2 more hours to go. I hope you have had a comfortable flight so far, and that there was nothing in the course of the day that made you furrow your brows, you grumpy cat. <3 

The picture up there is from your 27th birthday. I definitely was da real MVP (HEHE). It was amazing being surrounded by our warm and loyal friends, who love us so well. I hope you felt loved to pieces. And also, babe, I promise to be on puke duty, whenever you need. I posted a picture from the night here, because it’s the youngest we’ll ever look. 

Yesterday, Chan flew into the bay, and we showed him around. It was incredible how natural it felt -- how much it felt like I’ve gained a little brother. Thinking about you as his “hyunga” makes my heart overflow and smile -- like when you went into the barber shop to advocate for him. That made my heart pop. It’s the little things that capture me and make me love you more, inch by inch, mile by mile. 

Today, I came home from work (a great day, because my client got his case approved on the record, which means my hearing was cancelled; praise God for everything) to a familiar looking box.  Thank you for your sweet gesture. Thank you for going that extra mile and thinking of me. Thank you for making me feel treasured and so very loved. I cried before I left you yesterday, and I cried when I saw this box in front of my door step. You’re making my heart softer than its ever been. 

It feels like things have been shifting for us these days. We are thinking more seriously about our future together. You’ve even made a rough draft of our 3-year financial plan to “aggressively” pay off my loans and save up for a home! Even if life changes, and our priorities change, and even though we may or may not be able to fulfill our plans exactly the way we’ve imagined, I’m thankful that I get to walk with you.  I’m floored by your thoughtfulness, and I feel safe knowing that you’ll be the one who leads our future family. 

Also, you forgot to mention in your post that you’ve been kicking ass at school. Your “ProCrops” team did really well and made it so far! You’re discovering your business acumen and learning all sorts of things -- including your aptitude for entrepreneurship and presenting. I can’t wait to see you in action one day. 하트 뿅뿅! You’re taking another class next semester, and you’re going to be working on solutions to Zika Virus. I really hope this course ends up being as enriching and stretching as the one you completed this past semester. I can see you developing into a professional right in front of me, and I couldn’t be prouder and more excited about your future growth. I simply cannot wait to see how God uses you. 

I hope you enjoy the next ten days 2damax. You won’t have that many nuclear family trips with your family in the future, so with this knowledge, I hope you treasure the 100% comfort that only your family can give you. That restfulness that could only come with traveling with your parents and brother - priceless. 엄마, 아빠 = 최고 always. Eat lots of 오댕/street food (& do not get food poisoning) and press into the beauty and culture our homeland! I CAN’T wait to visit with you one day! 

On that note, we have sooo many things to do together. I’m going to write down 5 specific bucket list items, hoping that verbalization leads to fruition. Here they are, not in any particular order: 

1. Sit by 한강 (Han River) during sunset in the fall, eating kimbap and corner store coffee and/or grape Sac Sac. 

2. Disneyland

3. Walking on Florence’s cobble stone streets with gelatos in hand. Street musicians (preferably classical guitar), dusk, and the perfect summer breeze. 

4. Cooking class (maybe we can learn how to make pillowy, home-made gnocchi)

5. Hawaii. Piña coladas, luaus, snorkeling, spam everything, Hawaiian shave ice, nice island people, and never wanting to come back home. 

It’s 11:28PM, and I’m starting to reach sleepy-Lilly-delirium, so I’ll end here. I’ll look forward to seeing your “I-landed-safely” text first thing in the morning. I don’t know how it’s possible, but I love you more today than I did yesterday.

오늘 이런 떡볶이 전문점에 갔더니 한국에 돌아간 느낌이 들었어. 엄청 맛있는 튀김 오징어하고 틀림없이 한국의맛 떡볶이를 먹고 한국에서도 마셔 본적이 없는 복숭아 소주도 마실 수 있어서 너무 너무 행복해~~ 😆
