Since his first visit to vurt in 2018 as an ambient specialist, Ario has moved to Seoul last year and sharing his deep sounds and thoughts with Seoul friends. We're happy to share Ario's techno mix which inspired by his special experiences in Seoul over the past few years, on the last day of the lunar 2020 through vurt podcast. Ario (Astral Industries / London, Seoul) 이란인이자 런던 태생이며 현재 서울에서 활동중인 아리오는 런던의 앰비언트 레이블 Astral Industries의 레이블 큐레이터이자 전자음악 디제이로 활동하며 깊고 탐구적인 음악을 들려주고 있다. 아리오의 활동 영역은 전자 음악의 어둡고 깊은 그림자의 범주에 속해 있지만, 그의 전반적인 미학은 모든 전자음악과 예술을 사랑하는 넓은 스펙트럼으로부터 비롯된다. 상황에 따라 앰비언트, 실험음악, 그리고 무거운 클럽 스타일 사이를 오고가는 아리오의 디제이 세트는 환각적이고 자연 중심적인 소리들을 투영하면서 어둡고 진지한 소리들을 유기체로 인식하여 믹스함으로써 자아각성 (self-awareness)적인 사운드 스케이프를 만들어낸다. With origins linking back to Iran, London-born and Seoul-based Ario is a practitioner of deep and inquisitive music - both as a DJ and label curator of Astral Industries. Although his remit falls within the deeper shades of electronic music, his overall aesthetic draws on a broader spectrum that prizes the synthesis of both instrumental and electronic disciplines. Depending on context, he traverses the lines and forms between ambient, experimental and heavier, club-ready styles. What is common between these worlds, however, is his alchemic handling of rich organicism mixed with darker, more austere sounds. Speaking with an emotive sensitivity, there is a certain self-awareness that permeates his crafted soundscapes, which are as much drone-inspired as they are psychedelic and nature-driven.

개인의 과거는 개인의 오래된 미래다1

내 과거의 기억들로 비롯된 /나의 판단력/이 내가 좋아하는 사람을 나쁜사람으로 만든다. 더 안좋은것은 그사람이 정말 그럴수도 있다는 가능성을 실제 관계에 대입시킨다는것이다. 관계는 그렇게 끝으로 가기 시작한다. 나는 이것을 마치 섭리인양 받아들여 왔는데 지독하게 악연이 많았던건지 뭔지... 근데 그게 최근은 슬픈기분이 든다. 슬프다. 경험이 인간을 만든다는 말은 아주 깊고 오래된 말이다. 근데 /인간/이라기 보다는 /개인/을 만든다는 말이 맞겠다. 기억들이 개인을 만든다. 개인의 /심적 증거물/같다고나 할까. 이 심적증거물들은 미래의 수사에 직접적인 영향을 끼친다. 근데 이건 과학도 말하는데 사람이 미래를 상상할때 쓰는 뇌부분이 기억과 현재를 담당하는 부분이라고 한다. 미래에 대한 가장 불안한 추측은 항상 정말로 그 자신의 경험에서 나온다. 설사 어디서 들은 불안감이라도 내 경험이 불현듯 떠오르며 그것들을 기정 사실화 시킬것이다. 차라리 경험하지 못했더라면 예측하지 못하며 매번 새롭게 사랑하고 새롭게 상처받겠지. 차라리 몰랐더라면 사랑에서도 상처에서도 매번 상처만 기억하지 않아도 될텐데. 힝...
