I truly don't think Tomo would be able to see the aranaras. They are someone forced to grow out of that "child-wonder" early on in their life. Never had the time to be a "child" nor dream like one. From the start they centered themselves towards surviving and getting by so this "freedom of imagination", of dreaming and being as careless as one could be, was never something they had the chance to experience. Tomo's dreams as a child would be mostly about eating their favorite treats or having a warm roof above their head but those were occasional at best. You could say that they had to "grow up" to make it another day and that took away any chance to be a kid like any other. This has made them lose that kind of opportunity to see past some of the cruel reality of life. They are someone that focuses on the future and what takes to get to a better tomorrow, such way of thinking has never allowed them to have that pure and "free" way of seeing things like kids that most people lose when growing up. Most lose it when growing up, Tomo, on the other hand, wasn't able to even have it with everything they were subjected to as a child.

Yep, that's THEIR Kazuha he's talking about. Once a fellow wandering samurai unknown to many, now a worldwide celebrity. It has been a radical change they can't get used to no matter in which angle they see it. As proud as they are of his achievement, being stopped and bothered at every town and city wasn't exactly ideal for the kind of life style they hold. Especially if they are pushed to the side only to see their partner being TAKEN AWAY from them every single time. It's . . . INFURIATING to say the least.

They don't belong to them except for ONE, the most MISCHIEVOUS feline out of the bunch. It's not evident at first until their scent gets to her and a greeting in form of a 'meow' acknowledges the ronin's arrival. Tomoya stays right where they are, pinching the bridge of their noise as their sigh evidences their disappointment. ❝ It's alright. A CERTAIN SOMEONE does owe me an EXPLANATION though. ❞ Guessing by the way she hides herself behind the rest of her accomplices, Tomoya figures that she had ONCE AGAIN deceived a foolish passerby to give her more food than she's allowed to eat. Tama's far too clever for her own good, using her charms to play and act at her benefit, securing meal after meal as if that gluttony tummy of hers had no end.

❝ Only the white one is mine, however, I did feed some of them before a couple of hours ago. ❞ The other strays had a reason to BEG for food but SHE was in no position to take advantage of others, especially a traveler with limited resources. She was, without a doubt, well fed compared to the rest. Her lustrous groomed fur and filled bump gave it away. ❝ I'm sorry, Tama never loses the chance to get more treats. . . and it seems that she brought along some friends as well. ❞ AT LEAST she had found someone with an affinity to animals, this does bring some peace of mind.

It never failed that wherever he travelled, animals always seemed to flock to him. Larger animals were a bit more of a hassle, but small ones like cats and birds he didn't mind. Such was the strange anomaly that had followed him for hundreds of years. And such was the case now with five cats huddled around a fish.
