“See? I told you I would prove it to you! I don’t break my promises.”

Adachi’s smile is still there, soft and genuine compared to the crooked smirks or the tacked-on grins he was more prone to wearing. His eyes shine bright pink, but there’s no chains, no dancing, no heartbeat. Just Adachi in jeans, messy hair, and a wrinkled tee shirt.

“Now for what I’ve always wanted to say... I said it a little before, during the battle, but even then I was still holding back, and I don’t want to do that anymore.

You all on this team, each and every one of you...” A hand goes to his chest, smile dropping to a more open show of concern then he’s dared show before, “Are some of the best people I’ve met. I’m not used to getting along this well with people, with others willing to stick by me even when I’m an insufferable asshole. And I know I can be one.” He cracks a slightly wider smile at that. “But...  you all have made me feel like... like I can have a second chance.

Before I was so scared, angry, confused... so set in the idea that I couldn’t ever be a better person... but I know better now! I- you guys... you make me want to change. Make me think that changing is possible! You’re all amazing people, people that are the closest thing I’ve ever had to a family!

I’m- I’m really indebted to you!”

And with that rush of emotion, he gives a deep bow, the smile returning when he comes back up, and he gives a cheery salute like he’s still a cop.

“So anything you ask, I’ll do it! I’ll protect you all to the end!“

Immediately the other is swept up in a hug. Adachi looked much more rested now that the fight was over, but it was clear that, by the authentic expression of joy on his face and the bright pink hue to his irises, that much of the reason Adachi looked happier and less tired than usual was due to the friendly charm Kazuya had given him.

“You’re the best!~ My best friend! I should have told you more, but it’s okay, because I can do it now!”
