The last time she saw Princess Eleanor was before the wedding, before the crown came on her head, just after the king had passed away. It betrayed her upbringing to throw away Eleanor's prospect at becoming queen at the drop of a hat, accepting a proposal with a prince she'd so fondly admired from afar, to put the final nail in her coffin. It was never supposed to be this way, based on their conversations as young girls. I could never betray you by being interested in Elias. Yet there they stood, at a wake that felt more like a birthday festivity, Gisela with a ring on her finger and a crown on her head, both of whom belonged to Elias Hatzfeld. "Ella..." an old name shared between friends who had, possibly, gotten too close, "I'm so sorry..." there was a sympathetic look in her eye, one that begged far much more than the loss of a father that seemingly her youngest brothers didn't care about, and so she straightened her back, "about the old king... he was so sweet and wonderful to me in his final days... this whole party feels so out of place for it."

@tclkrefined ( gisela & eleanor ) Location: The Dining Hall Time: Evening, during the food fight
As a queen, she was forced to be present, though the ransacking of her things left her feeling invaded, whatever privacy she had left dashed into the public eye, even if she was uncertain of what those things were. Embarrassment lingered over Gisela's head, and it would have been easy to handle it if she knew the reason for it. The first resounding word of outrage was followed quickly by others, and suddenly contents of dinner plates were flown about the room. An abundance of red sauce had flown straight onto the side of Gisela's face, leaving her entire body cringing under the heat of it. She gasped in shock and outrage, turning to the nearest person beside her. Of course it was Eleanor. "Du MiststĂźck!" she cursed, picking up her chalice of wine and tossing it firmly in her face, "You did that on purpose!" Â

@flcralhaze ( gisela & stefan ) Location: The German Apartments Time: during the apartment searches
They came as quickly as crows, picking at what few things she brought over from Germany. A guard opened her jewelry box, pulling forth a rather large pink diamond. "How dare you!" she snapped, pulling her wedding ring from his hand and firmly placing it back on her finger, "You have got another thing coming for you if you think you can simply touch the Queen of Germany's wedding ring." She hastened to their dining area, making way for the door only to see it locked and guarded. "What is the meaning of this?" she'd took a turn about the room, hysterics beginning to cloud her mind and mist her eyes the more she'd paced about with no answers to her pestering questions. She'd only stopped when the nearest brother-in-law arrived. "Stefan, where is Elias? What is happening!?" Â

@bxrnfrxmashes ( gisela & ludwig ) Location: The German Apartments Time: after the food fight
Returning into the German apartments felt like truly stepping into a space that did not belong to her. Covered in spices, sauces, potatoes, and vegetables alike, there was a bleakness to her countenance as she strided through the door, eager to enter her bedchamber as a place of respite. Yet there would be no ladies maids to help her undress and care for her mangled dress and tainted skin. She had fallen to the ground in tears in time to hear the door open behind her. "Do not look at me," she wept, glancing over her shoulder before seeing the figure of her younger brother, "Brother, I have become a casualty in all of this..."Â Â

"Everyone is so eager to complain," Gisela cried out as she fell back into her chair, "I thought the interviews were quite lovely." She quickly sat back up, diving into a bountiful plate of breakfast in front of her, truly feeling pampered when outside of her own "minimalist" apartments set aside for Germany. "Anyone who had a problem with answering a few simple questions ought to be the one's to watch out for, really."

"Ludwig!!" Gisela's resounding voice echoed through the surprisingly cramped halls of the German apartments. Not a single ladies maid was prepared to do her hair at first light and she practically had to dress herself. Something was awry. "It has taken me nearly half a day to prepare my own visage," she huffed as she entered into the common room's dining area where her younger brother had sat, "Tell me, has our staff been struck down along with these other royals? Or is this some kind of prank that I'm shoved into a closet of a bedchamber with no ladies maids?"

The state of her husband could not ever drive her away. In fact, she'd never felt more helpful, more of service, since the day they agreed to get married. It was the only thing that felt real to her, that felt like normal. If anything, her desire to be beside him was almost written in the stars by now. That strike to his face sealed their fate, there would be no undoing of this now. âWhat could have happened for her to act this way?â she asked, her soft tone laced with concern as she took the warm rag to his face. Gisela's shoulders were, at last, able to relax, feeling like she was talking to the friend in Elias that she once knew before a giddy romance took its place. âIt may be too late for that," she jested, "She has accused me of pursuing you dishonestly, thinks our whole marriage was me trying to pull the rug out from under her.â She laughed through her nose, as though to dismiss such a ridiculous accusation, even if it was a bit closer to the truth in the origins of her intentions.
She'd laugh again at his protest of her caring actions. There was nothing Gisela would rather do more than tend to her husband's wounds as though they were in a romantic scenario, wrapped up in each other's arms. Truly, she was living in a fantasy. âYes, I doâŚâ she whispered, "I want to." It was certainly better than spending the night alone, that was for sure. âWell, youâve never had a wife before, I gather, or even elder siblings," she continued her care for the bright red mark until it looked less like a battle scar, âYou can imagine all the messes Hugo has had to clean up for me. I learned from the best.â Perhaps she could make a wonderful caretaker, after being of service to Eleanor all of these years, and after being cared for by her own family. âI was foolish to think this would be some grand romantic eveningâŚâ she sighed, shaking her head, despite part of her still hoping the night could be saved, âFirst the old king, then a quick, cheap wedding⌠now your sister. Itâs difficult to ignore.â
The shock and concern on Gisela's face is precisely what he aimed to avoid. It accomplishes exactly what Eleanor intends it to; it makes Elias look weak to anyone who sees him. His dark eyes glance back at Gisela, an almost crude smirk on his face. "Well, why would you expect it? Nellie has only ever wounded people with sarcasm and cutting bluntness. I suppose she's trying out something new." Once upon a time, his twin sister is what they shared. With Elias turning to Gisela after every sibling spat, looking for someone to understand the high's and low's of the twins. Now, she's the catalyst for their disrepair. "She did?" His hand tightens around the quill, before dropping it entirely. "I told her to punish me, not you." It is not fair for Gisela to pay for the sins of her husband, or his bad luck in earning the crown. "It's about many things." Elias attempts diplomatically. "Our marriage, yes, but if that's all it is then she'd be over it by now." No, it's more to do with the crowns atop their heads.
Leaning back against his chair, he makes no move to stop her. Partly, because he's too caught in the novelty of it all. His jaw slacked as she takes her seat on his lap, warm rag against his cheek. Tending to him like she's done so her whole life. "You don't need to do this." He says quietly against her touch. He's heard of it before - husbands and wives, taking care of one another. But he's never been on the receiving end of it, and it is all new to him. "No one's ever done this for me." But like all things with Gisela, there's no use in fighting it. After a long moment of quiet, he adds; "I am sorry about tonight." His behavior at the memoriam, now the somber mood of their bedchambers. "This isn't what a honeymoon is for."

@flcralhaze ( gisela & stefan )
So much was left up to uncertainty in the Hatzfeld family, especially now that Gisela Von Galen left her old family name behind, trading it for the all of the problems that came with the heavy crown. Perhaps it would have been easier to just stay a lady in waiting, betray the inkling her heart felt towards Elias in favor of things just staying the same. Because the friends she'd had grown to serve had now become her inferiors... how odd. Married for less than a week ( truly, she did not know, it was all such a blur ) and the world turned on its head. "Forgive me, your high-" she stopped in her tracks, the dizziness of the stress and heat held hand-in-hand with the noise of the party, "Stefan..." she corrected herself before clearing her throat, "I'm just feeling a little unsteady. Were you thinking of playing one of your brother's little games?"

@bxrnfrxmashes ( gisela & ludwig ) Location: German Apartments Time: Evening, right after the secrets were revealed
There it was, on display for Europe, Asia, and even Africa to see. Gisela was the queen of a poor and destitute nation that only stood on the heels of Japan. All this time, she was trying to prove how strong of a queen she could be only for any of her success to be attributed to Japan and their funding. She may as well bow to Emperor Kaito. How humiliating. She marched back into the apartments, unable to retrieve her lying husband, but instead finding her brother, who might as well have been a victim in all of this... or was he? "Tell me you didn't know," she practically begged her little brother. He was, after all, Elias's advisor, so perhaps he could have known and lied to her too... "Please, Ludwig, I cannot be lied to any longer. If you knew anything about this shame brought upon Germany, you must tell me now."

"You need not follow me around, Fraulein Colette," the queen halted in her tracks, wondering how on Earth a queen is supposed to behave towards her staff. There was hardly an example before her, and as a Lady in Waiting, she was inseparable from Princess Eleanor... look how well that turned out. "Please, enjoy yourself this evening. Perhaps there is someone you may dance with?"

Though the weight of the queen's crown never felt heavier as a Hatzfeld, being a Von Galen every once in a while would always be a relief from that. She could be a little sister again and nothing more. Though they weren't always so warm and fuzzy, perhaps being the child to constantly burst everyone's bubble would be to her advantage as she rested her head on her eldest brother's shoulder, choosing now to say nothing. Heaven only knows their mother wouldn't take to such warm and loving acts. "Is it wrong to be a bit relieved by that? That she would not know what to do either?" she, shamefully, laughed, "Perhaps we could begin to figure it out with a spot of breakfast..."
