He's so handsome cute and pretty also as you can tell there's two versions of him the movie and cartoon version I love both very deeply I want to play with his hair so much the movie version of Egon's hair looks quite soft and the cartoon version of Egon would have quite a bit of hair to play with when his hair isn't done up in the pompadour he has I just want to kiss and cuddle with him so much aaaaaaaaaaaa also his voice I love it so much I could listen to it for hours

my understanding of the death note characters so far ⊹˚. ♡.𖥔 ݁ ˖

i’ve studied them exclusively through images and textposts of light yagami on pinterest and tumblr. everything will tie back to light because i’ve only picked up on the existence of other characters depending on how frequently they appear/are mentioned in relation to light. 

🧡 light: MY FAVOOORITE!!! and decidedly Not a milf. i’ve learned that. thank you guys. he’s weak for his family! has probably only eaten potato chips twice in his life? would definitely be at his happiest as L’s scheming trophy wife who poisons him everyday, thereby unknowingly rendering his husband indestructible via built-up immunity!! i ascribe to the fervent belief that he’d absolutely dominate a deep south sorority as queen bee!!! his room looks atrociously green sometimes. why? 💛 ryuk: exists just to heckle light and get away with it! light’s bestie!! he’s the child tormenting the little clown fish by relentlessly tap-tap-tapping the aquarium glass! there’s a tumblr user wholly in love with him and i really respect that sort of devotion!!! love is amazing!!!! 💚 misa: i really really admire her: she knew what she wanted and GOT him!! has a skeleton for a girlfriend/attack dog! deserves to have at least a week of light chained to her bed but doesn’t get that. only gets CRUMBS. is happy about that anyways? i want to see her go apeshit!! she needs to torture light some more!!! 🩵 L: white?? one time a fic referred to him as “an older caucasian male” and i was blindsided by confusion because i didn’t think there was a single white person in death note… TURNS OUT THERE’S HORDES OF THEM?! this guy probably has diabetes and scoliosis but i like his soulfully soulless eyes because they remind me of my dog (when he’s not biting me)! light’s obsessed with him (L, not my dog).  💜 sayu: extraordinarily pretty as an adult!! would be the type to eat up wattpad y/n fanfic! light’s favorite person in the whooole wide world (=`ω´=) 🩷 mikami: green sometimes. the one who looks like a nerd but is secretly jacked as fuck. Stream of consciousness ramble under the cut!

So mine is a bit of a winding path, because I’ve had a few different usernames over the years. In my Teen Years on the internet I used to make up these really long, fantasy-ish sounding names designed for easy nicknaming (for example, I still have the blog for this, my old UN on a lot of places was Mimiraina so people could call me Mimi). But I wanted to move away from those nicknames after a while (some people IRL started using them after meeting me on the internet first and it felt weird bc they weren’t close to my real name) so I started leaning into “Mari”

And then once I started doing that I wanted to lean into the ocean theming (I’ve been a big ocean nerd my whole life and having “mar” in your name y’know LOL) so I moved to “UmiNoMari” to also pull in my interest in Japan and the Japanese language (Umi is “sea” or “ocean” in Japanese so it was kind of a play on words). But THEN I got a little iffy on that one because I didn’t want people to think that I was trying to pretend to be Japanese (and I come from the generation of Weebs That Went By Japanese Names On The Internet Even Though They Were White so I was trying to not come off like that).

So I went back to the drawing board and leaned harder on kind of an aesthetic? I wanted something that invoked color and sound in a delicate, pretty way. And I still wanted some kind of ocean theming in there. I went for “seaglass” because I love the colors and textures and it had the oceanic relationship, and “melody” was to pull in some imagery of windchimes and sea breezes. It also is musical because I LOVE music and singing.

TL;DR: I like the sea, I like music, and I wanted something to capture sound color and texture haha
