‘Flashback’
Send ‘Flashback’ to see one of my muse’s old memories
☠🌏– While swimming in the pond, Rika suddenly heard a big commotion. Lifting her head, she realized most of the pond had moved away somewhere, and swift as a stream she pounced out of the water and into the shrubs, going to investigate. The summer sun easily dried her body and clothes, and the naturally wet mud kept her cool.
She came out of the bushes to a big group of Clodsire circling an equally big group of Flamigo (or Round-beaks, as the Clodsire called them), with Papá at the front. Pups stayed close to their parents or behind them, seeking protection. And speaking of pups...
The leading Round-beak had one in his beak, thrashing and squeaking in fear.
''GRRRR... GRAGHRR!''
Rika pushed her way through the crowd and practically jumped on the Flamigo, wrapping her arms around the base of his neck and using her hands to strangle the creature's long neck. He let out a choked honk, dropping the Wooper to the ground, which promptly scurried away behind Papá. The Synchronize Pokémon began to stomp about, screeching and shaking himself violently to try and get the growling Rika off of him.
''Unhand me this instant!! Gyaaak!!''
The bird spoke in his tongue, which she didn't understand, so the only way to stop her came when she was dropped onto the muddy ground.
''Gah! Gnnnrrr...!''
In her crawling position, she turned to face the avian, snarling at him before he lunged into the ground near her with his beak, which she dodged.
''Rika! Get back here...''
Papá Clod's voice. She walked backwards, refusing to turn her back on the bird, and stood in a defensive position beside him and the pup she helped out. The shiny Clodsire took a couple steps forward to speak to the predator.
''You've no reason to be here, leader of the Round-beaks. Leave.''
He narrowed his eyes, giving Rika a disgruntled glare.
''How preposterous. You think THAT is going to faze me?'' He directed his gaze at the girl, so at least she understood he was talking about her. Other than that, she couldn't understand a single word he spoke. ''Mancub or not, my flock and I ought to eat. I'd think you'd understand that much, Slimy one.''
''And you choose us? After all the hard work we had to put in after our previous leader failed to keep our numbers in check, and you mercilessly devoured every pup you could find? When there's plenty of morsels out in the waters that we could share, yet you refuse? Keep dreaming of the past, because it's not going to happen again. Not as long as I'm around.''
''Your management problems aren't of my concern. Little chicks, big chicks, that's your problem to deal with. Eat first, think later.''
Almost immediately, he lunged forward again, this time to pick up the pup Rika had made him drop earlier.
But Rika was faster.
SLAP!
The Flamigo walked back with a squeak after the girl had just. Smacked him hard across the face, leaving him stunned. She threw herself in front of Papá and the pup, and stood up on her feet, at a height where she could stare at the Flamigo in the eye.
''Ya've heard him. Leave. I swear, if ya' come near any pup again...''
She bared her teeth, growling and snorting through her nose in an aggressive, protective manner, her hands in a grab-ready pose. Although her menacing display did intimidate the bird, he was even more taken aback by the fact that she spoke Clod-speak.
''...Gentlebirds. Retreat.''
The flock slowly walked away in dissapointment, and he turned around to do so as well. Rika settled back down on a squating position, her chest heaving from adrenaline.
''...Leader of the Slimy ones. You win this time. You've no mancub... You've a beast the likes of which I've never seen. But don't think for a moment that'll be enough to keep us away.''
''Heh. You keep telling yourself that...''
They all watched them fly away, and once the perimeter was secure, everyone returned to the pond area. Rika however stayed with her dad.
''...You're very brave, Rika. Round-beaks can pack a punch. Their leader is very full o' himself, for some reason... I guess the pond being so vulnerable to their attacks a few seasons ago didn't help.''
''Mm... He can be whatever he wants. But he ain't gonna touch the pups... Not as long as we're here, right?''
Clodsire chuckled, nuzzling her affectionately, a proud smile on his face.
''Right.''

Hi there, could you make some romantic concepts for Marvel Rivals! Emma Frost?
She literally yells "You belong to me!!!" During her ultimate (allies pov) and the moment i've heard that, i thought 'ok, she has yandere potential. Gotta tell this to Panther'.
I LITERALLY SPIN A WHEEL, RANDOMIZED IT, AND GOT TWO OF HER REQUESTS RIGHT AFTER THE OTHER?
Fair enough, here's more Emma Frost content. She's growing on me 😅 I'd probably write her Comic counterpart the same way, so feel free to see this as general Yandere Emma Frost HCs.
Yandere! MR! Emma Frost HCs
Pairing: Romantic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Manipulation, Possessive behavior, Controlling behavior, Mind control/Mind reading, Violence, Blood, Sugar mommy/baby behavior, Drinking, Mature themes/Implied one night stand, Coercion, Kidnapping, Possible 'Mommy Kink' mention, Dubious relationship.
Alright, without much background I already know how she acts as a yandere.
Emma is manipulative, possessive, controlling, and demanding.
She's a dominant yandere, easily able to make her obsession and rivals submit to her will.
She canonically used to be a villain, so it does not surprise me that she'd use her power and influence to make you hers.
Speaking of which... She's definitely a sugar mommy, you can't tell me she isn't.
She'd use her money to pamper and own her obsession, forcing them to be financially dependent on her.
Emma's goal with you is to own you completely.
She's a powerful woman who's used to bending others to her will.
If you manage to catch her eye, I feel she's really hard to leave.
Power, influence, money, mind control... yeah... Good luck.
Maybe you catch her eye at a party... maybe things get a bit flirty with drinks...
Next thing you know you wake the next morning beside the wealthy woman, the blonde tucking you against her.
The second she's had a taste of you, such a sweet soul... She feels the need to have more.
Emma Frost always gets what she wants, after all.
I don't really want to dwell too much on how you met, it's up to you.
I just want to talk about how she treats you.
Emma is both condescending... yet caring.
She sees you as a pet or doll to pretty up... to cover in blue lipstick kisses as she holds you close....
She promises to give you everything you could ever desire so long as you listen to her.
She deserves an obedient pet... Her little baby won't be disobedient on her watch.
Emma definitely tries to be your sugar mommy, often calling you 'baby' or calling herself 'mother'.
She loves to dress you up in extravagant outfits, making sure to make you pretty as she holds you on her lap.
Emma is a yandere who likes to show you off with herself.
She wants others to only give you attention if they know you're hers.
She keeps you on her lap or by her side, a drink in hand as she cuddles you.
Although, if you're alone and getting attention...
Emma would practically pick up the other person by the neck and toss them, just so she can scoop you up again.
Emma, in the comics, is shown to be possessive at one point in time.
She's defensive about you, disliking the idea of you being seen without her.
Emma much prefers keeping you in a lavish home... the both of you pampering each other in private.
Sure, she does enjoy attention from others, but yours matters the most.
She needs you... needs you attached to her hip... needs you focused on her.
She's a needy woman, always cuddling you in her lap or kissing you senseless.
She'll do anything to keep your attention, good or bad.
Emma uses money or favors to bribe you.
Be good and she'll reward you... she'll give you all sorts of gifts and outfits....
You're her precious doll.
If you're misbehaving, like trying to run from her or end this relationship of yours...
Emma's going to bring you to your knees.
All she has to do is think of a command, send it to you via telepathy, and you'll do it.
Trying to run... she tells you to 'Stop', 'Return to me', 'Kneel.'
She tells you that you belong to her... That she has control over you.
She even knows when you're planning escape.
There's never a time Emma isn't rummaging through your mind.
You could be planning ways to seduce her into escaping... or even leaving Krakoa.
Yet Emma quickly stops you, wrapping her arms around your waist with a knowing look.
"Excuse me, baby... Are you planning to run from mother?"
Even if you somehow got away, if you found a way to lock out her telepathy...
She'll hire someone to come collect you, threatening to have their head if they don't.
This timeline entanglement is dangerous, darling...
You really think she's going to let her lover run off and get involved in fights like this?
No... You're staying home, she demands it.
Emma is brutal.
If pressed enough, if someone claims how she's loving you isn't right...
She isn't afraid to break them, to make sure they burn, to have their blood stain her white outfit.
It's annoying and she'll never get the stain out... but she can buy a new one.
It may even teach you a lesson in obedience.
Emma's punishments are usually degrading.
If she isn't giving you a migraine with her telepathy... She's scolding you.
She makes you feel like a misbehaving puppy, claiming she's your master.
You belong to her, that's final, it's been your fate since she had her first taste of you.
If she needs to bribe you, she can do it.
You can have everything, just ask... Anything but freedom.
If that doesn't work, she'll threaten those close to you.
Do you have a family? She can either make them or break them in this world.
She can threaten them if you're disobedient... or make them live in luxury if you behave.
You'll behave and love her for them, won't you?
Emma wants your love to be genuine... But a little mind manipulation couldn't hurt, right?
She makes subtle influences in your mind, making you more susceptible to her attention.
She dresses you, carries you around, you're her baby.
No one is prying you out of her hands, not even Magneto.
She's claimed you, made you hers.
She'd break you mentally if it meant she could have you and no one else could.
She's a possessive woman who doesn't enjoy sharing what's hers.
The good news is if you listen to her, you're pretty well off.
Both you and your family will be taken care of if it means she can be yours mistress and lover.
Things are only made into Hell when she doesn't get what she wants.
Maybe it's for the best that you accept this new relationship... Even if you don't love her, she'll be a sugar mommy towards you.
Playing along shouldn't be too bad, right?
She'll take good care of you... No harm needs to come to you as long as you listen.
Just give up who you are... and be all hers... ignore the suspicious voice in your mind...
You're all hers... just give in... it hurts much less than being disobedient.

rush hour!
[ sakura haruka x gn! reader ]
inspired from this scenario from this otp generator: person a and person b holding hands because there's a crowd but not letting go when they get out of it.
tags: fluff, established relationship, sakura figuring out relationships, and reader being a bit of a tease and liking his blush hehe <3
word count: a little more than 1k !
a/n: i've been dying to write for wind breaker for forever. sakura haruka you're so cute i love you sm you deserve everything good

“C’mon Haru! Don’t pout!”
Sakura sputters, a familiar red creeping on his face.
“Not pouting!”
While your lovely boyfriend is “not” pouting, he follows you through the streets of the shopping district, as you search for a gift for your friend’s birthday.
He yawns, but makes sure to keep an eye on you so he doesn’t lose you somehow, knowing your habit of wandering off. If you both got separated, it would’ve been more bothersome for him after all.
He was planning on spending the day off from school at home, but you had other plans and showed up at his door bright and early and practically dragged him out.
At the thought, he can’t help but scowl a little at how easily you bossed him around in his own home. The treatment from his friends is one thing, but from you too?
He knows you all mean well, not really meaning it when he yells at the guy in his class or you to get out, not truly anyways, but he keeps his endearment to himself. He can already see how you’d all tease him for it.
You look back again at Sakura and smile, seeing his scowl as he gets lost in thought. He’s so cute.
You slowed your pace and without warning planted a soft kiss on his cheek.
He just about falls over, nearly tripping over his own feet, spluttering again. Your smile is still there, a little more amused if anything, but also soft.
“Thank you for coming with me today Haruka”
He looks away, red still tinted on his cheeks as he mumbles, “...s’ nothing.”
You hum, pleased, and continue to match your pace with his, walking next to him now as you look around at all the stalls and stores out and about.
He takes a peek at you when you’re not looking and his gaze falls towards your free hand, feeling his own twitch. Sakura feels his cheeks get hot again and he quickly looks away.
You’re always so patient and gentle with him when it comes to your relationship, and it makes his eyes prick with tears more often than not.
It pisses him off that he has a hard time doing practically anything when it comes to any displays of affection, public or otherwise because you just seem so…unbothered about it, just being too understanding.
You’ve reassured him that you don’t mind that he’s not so openly affectionate, but you have to be a little disappointed in him right?
He can swing his fists and backflip into kicks no problem, but holding hands? With you? The thought alone makes his heart pound and hands sweat. But…it’s not like he doesn’t want to. That’s what makes him so nervous. What if he does something wrong? What if you don’t want to hold his hand after all?
Before he could dwell much more about it, all of a sudden, a huge wave of people just started to walk past you both from both directions.
He hears you yelp and his head snaps back, seeing you struggle with the crowd.
You lock eyes with him and you can’t help but call out for him, slight panic in your voice.
“H-Haru!”
He tries to get to you, ignoring all the people bumping into him, all his focus on getting to you.
He reaches out for you, struggling a little bit as someone knocks into him again.
“Oi!”
He manages to take a hold of your hand and tugs you forward as he makes a path through the crowd, looking back every so often to make sure you’re okay.
Staring at the back of his head, then to your linked hands, you can’t help the light pink flush that dusts across your cheeks, keeping quiet as he maneuvers you both through the sudden wave of people.
Eventually, he leads you both to a quieter part of the street, grumbling about the sudden onslaught of people and how they were bumping into you.
You stay silent as he complains, realizing that Sakura himself probably hasn’t realized your linked hands, much less how he was the one to initiate, even if it was to rescue you from the crowd.
As a little experiment, you squeeze his hand and you nearly trip when he suddenly stops, and you watch as his face becomes as red as one of Umemiya’s tomatoes. Sakura suddenly lets go of your hand, stammering as you stare.
“T-That was nothin! I-It was just because of that stupid crowd! I didn’t mean to grab onto your stupid hand I–WAIT don’t get the wrong idea I was just—!”
Sakura’s breath hitches as you start to laugh, clearly finding the whole thing funny, and Sakura starts to yell, more embarrassed than anything.
“Stop laughing at me! It’s not funny you–!”
You beam at him, eyes shimmering with mirth.
“Aw, does Sakura Haruka, Furin class 1-1 grade captain want to hold my hand? You’re so cute Haru, of course you can hold my hand!”
He practically stomps away, having enough of your teasing and you laugh again, catching up to him, your grin widening when he grumbles and takes your hand in his without another word.
Your grin softens into a gentle smile as the two of you walk in peace, and in your head, your original mission of the day gets pushed back for the meantime, intending on savoring as much time as possible holding your fickle, but kind boyfriend’s hand.
You gently swing your joined hands, the moment serene and peaceful as the sun shines bright above and the cool breeze causing the wind chimes to gently tinkle, the sound accompanying the bustle of people all around you both.
Sakura lets out a soft breath, feeling the familiar pang of warmth he feels in his heart that only happens when he’s with you.
But you just have to ruin the moment because in clear disregard for your life (not that he would ever hurt you), you poke fun at him one last time.
“...Your hand is getting sweaty, Haru. Are you nervous?”
“Shaddup!”

a/n: sakura haruka you're so cute
as always, reblogs and shares are appreciated! i hope you all stay safe! and just in case nobody told you they loved you today, i love you! you are enough! <3

Hello dearie!!
How are you? I hope you're doing well!
I saw that your asks were open, and your content is really cool and silly,So I decided to leave you a nice ask to enjoy!
Could I have a headcanon platonic! Alastor,Vox and Husk finding a random child next to their dead mother, except that they don't really understand that she's dead and think she's sleeping,so they pity the child and take them in?
The child is really polite and nice, pretty calm, too. Sure, they do child stuff, like running around, being excited, etc, but they still are more calm than others.
They always talk about their mother, how she's the only one left, and how they love her.
Would the characters say the truth? Would they lie?
I just love hurt/comfort and platonic relationships so :3
Anyways,I hope that's not too much, and that you enjoy writing this!
Have a really nice day, don't forget to drink and take breaks!
Stay proud!
-Nina <33
A/N: Thank you for the reminders, heh. Btw, I’m going to have to change the reasons as to why they took you in because I just don’t see characters like Alastor and Vox taking you in because of pity. Sorry about that. The rest is untouched. You’ll still get a bit of that hurt/comfort (mostly from Husk, lol. Both Alastor and Vox are non-existent, but Alastor is somehow better than Vox).
Warnings: Mentions of death
———
Alastor, Husk, and Vox adopting a deceased mom’s child

Alastor
• Alastor paid no mind to the dead corpse
• it didn’t really look that appetizing anyway
• “How unfortunate.” You heard a weird voice from behind you as a hand was placed on your shoulder. “A child mourning in the demise of its mother. Tragic, really. You have my condolences.”
• “What are you talking about, mister?” You stared up at the mysterious man, watching his eyes flick from your left to right eye while his grin only grew as the seconds went by
• “I think you’ve just found yourself the perfect dwelling,” he abruptly said, letting go of your shoulder to fix his bowtie as he sprung back to life. “Why don’t you come with me?”
• “But what about my mother?”
• “She is in good hands, I can assure you.” He offered his hand to you. “Come along, now. Children shouldn’t dwell long in places like these.”
• and so he took you in to be a patron at his hotel
• I mean, what’s more easier to redeem than a child? (assuming you’re a sinner. I don’t know if it’s canon anymore that only hellborns can reproduce. Look at Cannibal Town’s people)
• he intended to leave you in the rest of the residents’ care while they could only guess what his actual motivation was for taking you in
• but it seemed you ended up favoring him more than the rest
• you’d follow him around like a duckling—a lost puppy—you’re attached to him like a leech
• and you’re so well-behaved, too
• up until he leaves your sight
• he actually leaves the hotel a lot more often now because of that
• he finds you wrecking chaos in the hotel entertaining as hell
• and the fact that the others beg him to come back to calm you down
• I don’t think you would ever know what happened to your mother
• even when you talk about her a lot
• those rambles never really prompt him to say anything
• well, it’s not as if he knew what happened to her
• but, hey, at least he listens!
• maybe it’s because he feels a little nostalgic hearing the way you talk about her…
———
Husk
• Husk was fucking spooked when he found you lying beside your dead mother
• not because of the corpse, but because of the way you were staring at him
• with eyes dull and wide open, just like your mother
• while Husk wouldn’t have given two shits if it was a grown-ass adult, you were a child
• so he took you in
• “But what about my mother?”
• “Shi—I, uh—your momma will tag along soon. Now c’mon. She wouldn’t want you out here alone.”
• since Husk is constantly around the hotel, there were never really instances where you wreaked havoc
• you just silently watch him tend the bar and sometimes talk about your mother
• your talks about how much you love her make him feel pretty guilty for some reason
• but he’d probably tell you when you’re older enough
• only if you were asking him about her though
• he wouldn’t want to have to sit you down and tell you something that sensitive of a topic when you didn’t even ask
• “Why don’t I have a mother?” you would suddenly ask when you turned 18
• today was your birthday. Charlie insisted on having a little party for you just like every year. But you didn’t want one; you wanted to be with Husk for the day
• the man in question sighed
• he knew you were building up the courage to ask all day
• “I’m gonna give it to you straight, kid, I don’t know what exactly happened to her. All I know is that she’s in a better place.”
• “Oh…”
• “Do you…wanna talk about it?” He continued, voice a little unsure, “Not as a bartender…but as a dad.”
• you smiled, grateful. “I think I’ve already said plenty when I was younger. But thanks, Dad.”
• he smiled back
• you two would then sit in silence together, basking in each other’s presence
———
Vox
• so, uh, I’m going to have to completely skip the taking you in part with Vox because I genuinely cannot see him adopting a random child (unless he could gain something, but, like, you’re just a kid)
• so you’ll just get the aftermath of it (hope that’s okay)
• based on the way he handled Val’s tantrum, I think it’s safe to assume that he’s somewhat good with children
• but he’s a pretty busy guy
• he doesn’t have the time to take care of a random child, so he’d make sure to keep an eye on you on his cameras
• but despite that, your existence in the tower warrants his
• as you’re too chaotic whenever he isn’t around
• but only around the other expendable employees
• you’re relatively well-behaved when Velvette and Valentino are with you
• but he doesn’t exactly trust them to take care of you
• they aren’t exactly good with children
• so he tried doing video calls
• you will definitely grow up as an iPad kid
• he’d hear you talk about your mom during those calls
• he’d let you go on and on, but it’s not guaranteed that he’ll listen
• I don’t think he would ever tell you what happened to her (he doesn’t know, anyway)
• he won’t lie, he’d just work around your question
• skillfully
• like, extremely so
• even if you ask him directly, he still manages to dodge the question somehow
• I don’t know what else to say, he’s gonna be a pretty distant father—

saw your post and wanted to help you(also thank you for participating in Safehouse Crew Fanweek,💜💙🩵, it means a lot). I don’t know if you do aus but may you please do a Firefighter Adler! x reader(can be any gender of your choosing)?. Perhaps he rescuers the reader and they go on a first date shortly after? Or they are both firefighters and the reader has to rescue him from a close call during a difficult fire but manages to save him(establishing relationships by the way) and they recover at home or something like that?
I have other request ideas as well…
Hiiii!
Thank you so much for requesting this, honestly it was such a cool idea to write for and explore. I wrote quite a bit for this, but didn't really cover the date part as it was getting a little long, but I was thinking of doing a part 2 for this with them getting their date. Please do send me your other ideas, I'm more then happy to write them!
Firefighter! Russell Adler x Female reader.
Word count : 2,539
TW : Mentions of fire, near death experience, trauma.
Another quiet night, at least that's what you'd hoped for. The moonlight spilling through the soft cracks of your curtains as you slept, momentarily forgetting the worries or thoughts that lingered throughout the day. All that mattered was your soft breaths as you laid beneath the soft sheets keeping you warm and cosy in bed. It was bliss - until it all spiralled out of control.
What started as a quiet blissful sleep, soon turned into chaos and fear.
Unknowingly a fire had broken out in your small house, small, dull orange embers flashing brighter as the embers grew into unforgiving flames that took no hostages. What once was your home soon turned into a real life nightmare, soft fabrics of curtains, couches and carpets were soon engulfed by the burning hot flames. Thick heavy smoke filling every room like a plague was haunting you. You weren't sure what finally woke you from your once peaceful slumber. Maybe it was the sound of your elderly neighbour Evelyn shouting as loud as she could outside, praying you'd wake up and escape with your life, or maybe it was the stifling heat that engulfed you in a way your thick blankets couldn't.
But when you finally did wake up, the fear was instant. Thick black smoke creeping under your door, filling the room quickly making it hard to see, and as it filled your lungs with every fear filled breath it became harder to breathe or even think. But one thing jumped to the front of your mind as you sat up in bed trembling - you needed to get out. Now. Adrenaline filled your body quickly as you flung the covers back and rushed to your bedroom door, you didn't have time to think about changing out of your pajamas or take a second glance at your belongings. However as your trembling fingers reached for the doorhandle, you hesitated. Fear consuming your entire body, thoughts flashing through your head of not making it outside. You couldn't dwell on them for long though, the sound of glass shattering from somewhere in your home filling your ears adding a sense of urgency to the situation.
You didn't have time to hesitate anymore, if you did you wouldn't get out of here.
Finally you flung the bedroom door open, coughing and gasping for breath from the smoke purging your home. The flames now no longer engulfed your home, they were hunting and you were its prey. You covered your mouth and nose, trying desperately to stop the smoke from purging your lungs and ran as quickly as you could to the stairs, the unforgiving flames dancing along the walls as the structure of your home groaned under the damage. The heat was immense, it felt worse than a sauna as you flew down the stairs desperately avoiding getting burned alive. Tears now streaming down your face as reality settled in and terror engulfed you more than the flames ever could. Seconds felt like minutes as you finally made it to your front door and ran outside coughing and gasping as oxygen filled your lungs.
Evelyn, the sweet old lady who lived next to you hobbled over as quickly as she could and wrapped an arm around you tugging you away from the burning building you once called home. The bitter breeze carried by the wind feels like heaven right now as soot and sweat clung to your body.
“My dear, are you okay? Are you hurt? I've called the fire department and they are on the way now, it's going to be okay.” Evelyn said quickly as she checked you over for any injuries.
But her words were just dull to you, your ears ringing as you coughed and sobbed. But in a moment of clarity as you glanced over at your house, you remembered one detail. Your beloved golden retriever, Cosmo, was still inside. The poor pup was probably terrified. But as you stood there silently, the panic built up again, you may have been safe and alive but the fear of losing your companion was too much.
“Evelyn… Cosmo’s still inside!” You yelled in fear, tears that had dried up coming back and spilling down your face.
Evelyn looked just as distraught as you. Her hand firmly on your shoulder as you sobbed and yelled in terror.
“The fire brigade will be here soon, they'll get him my dear.” She said softly trying to calm you down.
That wasn't good enough for you. They were taking too long, even as the shrill sound of sirens drew closer. You couldn't risk it.
Your feet suddenly started moving before you could think through the risks, running back towards the blazing building that was your home. The flames dancing along the walls, mocking your stupidity to not wait for the fire department. As you approached the front door, that was now ablaze, the glass which looked into the haunting scene of ferocious flames destroying everything in its path, shattered. Glass spraying everywhere causing you to shriek and shield your body.
Evelyn tried to shout, pleading for you to stop, as the sirens grew louder before tires screeched against the road and the fire engine appeared before coming to a sharp stop. Fire fighters running out of the vehicle, footsteps hitting the pavement. One of the fire fighters, Russell Adler glanced towards the burning wreckage, the flames licking hungrily at what was left of the structure and the thick smoke that filled the air around them. Until his eyes locked on her figure as she stood just a few steps from the front door her figure silhouetted by flames and smoke. He could see the sheer panic in her body, but before he could call out to her she ran back into the building, smoke and flames obscuring his view of her.
“Hey! Stop, don't!” His low, rather annoyed voice called out to her. It was useless, she was already gone.
He ran forwards, ignoring the orders his team were barking at him, pulling his mask over his face as he ran through the front door into the building after her. He'd seen this too many times to know civilians thought love would outpace unforgiving flames. But it never did. His gear slowed him slightly but he didn't care about that all that mattered was getting the woman, and whatever she'd run back in for out.
The heat inside was brutal. It was like it was clawing at his gear desperately trying to set it a light - to take him down with it. But it wouldn't, not tonight and not any other night. The visibility was awful, thick smoke obscuring his vision. The whole frame of this building was going to come down soon, the structure groaning in protest and almost pain as the flames clutched onto it.
Adler had years of experience, he knew procedures like the back of his hand. Yet even now he sometimes threw it to the side. This was one of those moments. Her stupidity had led him to this. His breathing was calm and even as he searched the ground floor, he had no reason to fear the flames anymore. Not after he'd done this as long as he had. He searched tirelessly until he spotted her. Her body slumped against the floor, soot scattered across her body like war paint.
She was stupid. Stupid but brave, he'd give her that.
She coughed heavily, tears streaming down her face as she found herself too weak to move. The same expressions he'd seen on people's faces every time he'd done this. Guilt. Terror. Panic. He didn't have time to waste, oxygen was running low. He knelt next to her listening as she desperately tried to mumble about a dog called Cosmo.
“Easy, stay down.” He barked, his authoritative tone creeping in with his frustration at her for running back in, in the first place. His gloved hand reached for her arm and grasped onto it tightly as he hauled her up into his arms, pulling her over his shoulder in a fireman hold. He didn't care if she could walk or not. She was getting out even if he had to drag her out.
He found the dog next, he was hiding behind the kitchen door, howling in fear. His jaw clenched before picking the dog up, carrying it under his other arm. He didn't say another word as he felt her go limp in his arms, smoke inhalation taking its toll as she blacked out. The structure groaned again as the flames fed from it hungrily, the ceiling finally giving in as it started to crack and collapse.
“Fuck.” He mumbled.
Without hesitation, he ran as quickly as he could with the combined weight of his gear, the woman and the dog. Seconds dragged on before he finally emerged from the flames and smoke, back into the fresh air.
The second he was clear, his team surrounded him, some helping to take the terrified dog from under his arm, the others still barking orders and trying to put out the fire. He then laid her down carefully, but not gently. She wasn't out of the woods yet. He pulled his mask and his gloves off quickly before checking her vital signs, her pulse was slow and thready whilst her breathing was shallow - too shallow.
“Oxygen, now!” He snapped at a nearby rookie who scrambled off to get the oxygen mask at the order.
Once he had the oxygen mask, he secured it to her face himself, he didn't trust anyone else to do it right.
“Come on. Breathe.” He said through gritted teeth, half to her and half to himself.
A few tense moments passed until she finally coughed and gasped for breath, oxygen desperately filling her lungs. Adler didn't flinch. He'd seen people pull themselves from the brink time and time again.
“C-Cosmo..?” She managed to splutter out in-between coughs.
Adler blinked before smirking, of course her first concern was the mutt. His eyes flickered over to the team assessing the dog before falling back on her.
“Safe.” He said bluntly.
He watched as relief filled her alongside exhaustion. He shook his head, still frustrated by her stupidity to run back into the flames, but he equally admired her fight to go back inside after something she loved.
Adler sat back on his heels watching her breathe for a moment, just letting her take everything that had happened in.
“You've got a survival instinct, but you left yours at the door.” His tone was flat, but he did care. His gaze flickered over to the medics as they approached, usually this was where his job ends and he hands over to the ambulance crew. But his feet remained in place, he found himself unable to move from her side. The ambulance crew were confused but they didn't question it as they checked her over.
“She's lucky, but needs to go to the ER to be checked over properly.” One of the ambulance crew said.
Adler scoffed and had to hold back an eye roll for the sake of professionalism.
“Lucky isn't the word I'd use.”
Her eyes cracked open again as the crew loaded her onto a stretcher, her body letting out a groan of protest as exhaustion set in. He glanced at her one more time as they got her in the back of the ambulance, his gut telling him this isn't where he wanted this to end. So he wouldn't let it happen. He had to go to the hospital for the paperwork either way.
It definitely wasn't protocol to check up on civilians in the hospital after the firefighters had done their job, but Russell wasn't one to play by the rules most of the time. He huffed as he leaned against the wall of the hospital room and flashed her his usual smirk. Soot and dirt aside he had to admit she was pretty.
“I hope you don't plan on running into burning buildings anymore.” He said curtly, not sugarcoating it.
You glanced up, definitely not expecting to see the man who pulled you out of the burning wreckage standing in front of you. It took a few moments to find your voice as you just stared at him taking in his appearance now he didn't have his gear on, his messy brown hair, a pair of aviators perched on his face, a subtle scar running down his face that you presumed he got from something on the job.
“No.. that was enough danger to last me a lifetime.” You said quietly, a little sheepish under his burning gaze and the fact you'd been stupid enough to go back in the building.
“Good.” He said, his smirking widening.
You sighed, fidgeting with the oxygen monitor clipped onto your finger, a reminder of tonight's events that you were sure would haunt you for a while.
“You didn't have to check on me y'know.” You said with a soft smile, although you were sure he could tell you were exhausted.
“I didn't.” He said bluntly, pushing himself off the wall and stepping into the room. “Had some paperwork to sort out, figured as I was here… might as well come see you, make sure you aren't gonna do something stupid again.” He added
You laughed weakly, at least he was honest.
“Don't worry, I promise I'm not gonna do that again.”
He watched her for a moment, noticing the subtle tremor of her hands, the familiar exhaustion that crept into her body. He knew people didn't come out of the other side and not carry it with them. He could recognise it by now, watching it settle in her eyes.
“You really did a number to yourself back there, you won't realise it probably until tomorrow maybe a few days tops.” He said in the same flat tone, but he was giving her the warning she needed.
The silence grew heavy for a moment, but not uncomfortable or awkward.
“There's a diner, about two blocks from here. Coffee is good, but the pie… that's another story. I'll be there tomorrow at eight.” He said it like he was giving her a location for a job, not an invitation. He sighed as he approached her bedside.
“Show up and you won't sit alone.” He added
You blinked a little confused by his offer, but smiled eventually before replying.
“Are… are you asking me out?”
He let out a low chuckle and smirked again.
“Depends if you're gonna show up, give me a chance to find out about the girl who ran into a fire.” He said with a shrug, almost like it wouldn't upset him a bit if she said no.
“Alright I'll be there.” You said with a soft smile
You could've sworn he smiled for a moment but you weren't sure. He nodded and started to head out of the room before stopping in his tracks and glancing back at you.
“Bring the mutt, I've always had a soft spot for ‘em.”
With that, he left, but she couldn't stop smiling, feeling like this was the start of something new from the ashes they left behind tonight.

Waiting | Dream Reaction #13
Reaction: when their gf wants to save sex for marriage
Genre: Um mostly fluff
Warnings: slightly suggestive, making out in Jeno's, and mentions of sex (but nothing graphic at all)
Word Count: ~2.9k
Author's Note: I feel like it's been so long since I wrote a Dream reaction. The following scenario was a request sent by someone. To be honest, I was a bit hesitant about doing it because I know this concept isn't that popular today. However, it is a personal value I hold and I'm not trying to impose it on those who have different opinions. But it is something I've always secretly wanted to write about. So here you go, I hope you like it ^ ^
~ ~ ~
mark
After being under the weather for weeks now, Mark thought it was time to get you checked up. That was how you found yourself sitting in a pristine white room on a Monday morning. You scanned the room anxiously, nervously drumming your fingers against the chair’s armrest. However, the nerves you were feeling calmed down a little when Mark placed his hand on top of yours.
Finally the door creaked open, and the doctor exchanged polite greetings with the two of you. Taking a seat at her computer, the doctor ran through the customary procedure of inquiring about your symptoms and any recent changes in lifestyle.
“Have you two been sexually active recently?” the doctor asked, causing a slight shift in the atmosphere.
Heat instantly rose to your cheeks as you turned to your boyfriend with a surprised glance.
“Oh—no, we haven’t even…” Your voice trailed off, almost as if you were too flustered to finish your sentence.
The doctor nodded understandingly and moved on to the next question. Once the check-up was finished, she just advised you to get some more rest and take some time off work to recover.
Back in the car, you and Mark burst into awkward laughter, finding humor in the unexpected nature of that encounter.
“I was so embarrassed,” you cried, covering your face, “I thought I was going to die back there.”
Mark laughed along, “Yeah me too. I don’t know why I was so surprised when she asked us that.”
A brief silence hung in the air as Mark steadied his hand on the wheel, and you gazed out of the car window. Although you believed you handled the situation reasonably, some more serious thoughts lingered in your mind. Even though it’s only been a few months since you two started dating, the doctor’s question made you realize that you hadn’t discussed the subject before.
“Speaking of though,” you said, broaching the topic cautiously. “I actually want to save sex for marriage.”
You were already bracing yourself for a negative reaction when Mark didn’t respond right away. But then he shrugged nonchalantly and said, “Okay.”
“Really?” You stared at him wide-eyed. “You’re okay with it?”
Mark nodded thoughtfully, “I mean, I can’t say it’s going to be easy. But if waiting is important to you, then it’s important to me too.”
A wave of relief washed over you, comforted now that this conversation went a lot smoother than you had anticipated.
“Thank you, I really appreciate that,” you said, a smile lighting up your face.
Mark reached over to squeeze your hand. “No problem, babe.”
In his mind, it really wasn’t a big deal. He definitely planned on marrying you someday, so he saw it as something to look forward to in your future together.
‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿
renjun
He was the only one to actually bring up the subject first. Although it wasn’t something he had greatly dwelled on beforehand. After being together for a few months, your relationship had proven to be relatively stable. However when it came to physical intimacy, the two of you never progressed beyond making out. While Renjun wasn’t particularly bothered by it, a sense of curiosity lingered in his thoughts.
One evening as you both walked back to your place after a date, he decided to bring it up. “(Y/n), can I ask you something?” he asked, breaking the comfortable silence.
Curious as to what this was about, you nodded. “Sure. What is it?”
“I just…I was wondering when we’re going to have sex?” He scratched his head, as the words awkwardly tumbled from his lips. You observed his cheeks turn a light shade of pink, and you could also feel your own face warming up coincidentally.
You knew this conversation was inevitable, and you’ve spent a decent amount of time preparing what you would say if it came up. Despite the mental preparation, you were a little wary of what Renjun’s response might be.
“I’m glad you brought that up,” you said, attempting to mask the nervousness in your tone. “The thing is, I want to wait until marriage for sex. I hope that’s okay with you.”
To your surprise, his response came quickly as he nodded in understanding. “That’s no problem for me. I'm happy to wait for you,” he assured.
“I know people might think we’re crazy,” you continued with a sense of unease in your voice.
Before you could finish your thought, Renjun stopped walking to cup your face with his hands. “I don’t care what people think. Our connection and the boundaries we set are more important than anyone else’s opinions,” he said assertively. “I respect your decision, and I’m here with you no matter what.”
As his words sank in, a grateful smile formed on your lips. Sighing, you leaned in to place a sweet peck on his lips.
“What did I ever do to deserve you?”
Renjun chuckled and affectionately patted your head. “Cutie.”
His hands intertwined once more, and the two of you resumed walking back to your apartment. The both of you felt a lot better now that the topic had been addressed.
‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿
jeno
The evening started out normal, really. You were having a movie date in his apartment, which was a regular occurrence for homebodies like yourselves. Yet, an almost suffocating tension lingered in the air, subtly bringing the two of you closer.
Before you could blink, blankets were tossed aside and you found yourself lying on your back as Jeno’s lips devoured yours in a series of passionate kisses. His hands found their way to your waist, and yours wrapped around his neck, drawing him nearer. The room was filled with a soft hum of your chemistry, creating a moment that seemed to make time freeze.
Your conscience started to come back as you felt Jeno’s hands begin to roam your body. Although a part of you didn’t want to stop, you placed a hand on your boyfriend’s chest and gently pulled away. Jeno glanced at you with a puzzled expression.
Sighing, you sat up. “I’m sorry…it’s just…there’s something I think we should talk about.”
You hated seeing Jeno’s face flicker with confusion. But he nodded for you to continue.
“If…if it’s okay with you, I want to wait until we’re married to have sex,” you admitted, your gaze unwavering.
Jeno’s eyebrows furrowed in surprise, and it took a bit to process your words before responding. “Oh, okay,” he said in an understanding tone.
You looked at him, searching for any sign of disappointment or frustration. “You’re not upset about it?”
Jeno shook his head, as if it were obvious. “There’s no rush, baby. And I would never want to pressure you into doing something you’re not comfortable with.”
“Thank you for understanding,” you expressed, eyes softening with gratitude. You had expected a different reaction from him, fearing that he might feel restricted. But his kind words put you at ease.
Jeno returned your smile, brushing a strand of hair away from your face. “But we can still make out, right?”
The mischievous sparkle in his eyes made you laugh. “Of course we can,” you chuckled, pulling him down with you.
That was all Jeno needed to hear before his lips were on yours again. The chemistry from before was quickly reignited, and the two of you savored the intimacy of the moment.
‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿
haechan
The two of you were just cuddling in his bedroom, after he had convinced you to take a break from studying. Nestled comfortably in his arms, he traced lazy circles on your back, creating a soothing rhythm to accompany the moment. You snuggled against him happily, enjoying this peaceful moment with your boyfriend.
“(Y/n),” he spoke suddenly, breaking the comfortable silence.
You glanced up in response. “Hm?”
He stared at you momentarily, tenderly brushing a lock of hair behind your ear. You were curious as to what he had to say, you found it hard to read his expression.
“Have you ever thought about…you know, when you want to have sex?” he asked, deciding it was best to just be straightforward.
Your cheeks flushed slightly, caught off guard by his question. “Um…well I think I want to wait until marriage,” you admitted.
Biting your lip, you searched Haechan’s expression. The corner of his lips curled into a teasing smile. “In that case, will you, (L/n) (Y/n), marry me?” he asked dramatically.
“Lee Haechan, don’t joke about that,” you scolded, smacking him on the shoulder. The boy laughed, and pulled you closer to him.
“Okay, okay I’m sorry,” he apologized, giving you a quick kiss on your forehead. “We’ll take things at your pace, baby. You don’t need to worry.”
You murmured a thank you, relaxing into his arms once more. As playful as Haechan was, you were grateful for his understanding. There really wasn’t much to worry about when you were with him.
‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿︵‿୨✧୧‿︵‿
jaemin
The gentle glow of the candles sitting on the coffee table created a warm and inviting atmosphere in Jaemin’s living room. You sat snugly on the couch with his cats, waiting for your boyfriend to come back from the kitchen. Although you appeared calm on the outside, as you ran your fingers through Luna’s soft white fur, your mind buzzed with anxious thoughts. You wanted to have a serious conversation with him tonight, but you were a bit apprehensive about it.
Your heart began to race as Jaemin reentered the room, carrying two steaming mugs of hot chocolate. It only took a single glance for him to detect your unease. Placing the cups on the coffee table, he took your hand in his and offered a comforting smile.
“Is there something on your mind, love?” he asked with such tenderness that it almost made you feel guilty.
Exhaling briefly, you tried to return his smile. “Yeah, there’s actually something I’ve been wanting to talk to you about.”
Jaemin’s eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and concern. “I’m listening,” he replied, reaching over to gently scratch under Luna’s chin.
You took another deep breath, gathering your thoughts. “It’s just that we’ve been together for quite some time now, and I know you’ve probably thought about this. But I want to share with you that I’d like for us to save sex for marriage.”
There was a brief moment of silence as Jaemin absorbed your words. Afraid of a negative reaction, you started to back yourself up.
“It’s just that I’ve never done it before, and waiting until I’m married has always been important to me,” you continued, going on a slight tangent. “It has nothing to do with you or an attempt to restrict you.”
The warm smile Jaemin gave you felt like a game changer. He lightly squeezed your hand, his eyes reflecting nothing but understanding. “You don’t have to worry, Princess. I understand completely, and I agree it’s best to wait too.”
Instantly relief began to wash over you. “Really?”
“Absolutely,” he nodded, his smile unwavering. “I want our first time to be something we both cherish. And when we’re both ready to take that step, I promise it will be a special moment for both of us.”
His eyes gleamed with a sincerity that made you want to burst into tears. Suddenly, you questioned why you were so nervous in the first place. Every action of Jaemin’s was out of love and kindness from the depths of his heart.
“You’re so sweet,” you murmured, cupping his face with your hands. “I wish all men could be as understanding and caring as you.”
Jaemin’s gaze softened more, and he leaned in to leave a lingering kiss on your lips. “You give me too much credit, princess. As your boyfriend, it’s my job to ensure you always feel respected and loved.”
“Stop it, you’re going to make me cry,” you exclaimed, using your hand to fan your eyes.
He chuckled in response and pulled you closer to cuddle. As you remained in his embrace with his cats nestled around you, you realized how lucky you were to have Jaemin by your side.

chenle
You had been avoiding the subject for as long as possible, mostly because it was a little awkward for you. This was your first serious relationship, and you were sure Chenle’s thought about it before. But he was waiting for you to say something first.
Then came an evening where the two of you were watching a movie at his place. You didn’t exactly plan on talking to him about it that day. It kind of just slipped out.
Neither of you had a specific preference for what to watch, so Chenle randomly selected something on Netflix. However, halfway into the film, a provocative scene began to unfold. A knot tightened in your stomach, and within five seconds, you averted your gaze. Chenle chuckled nervously beside you, wisely opting to change the movie.
Even though something new was being played on the screen, you found yourself making occasional sideway glances toward Chenle. The realization struck that you had been putting off this topic for so long, and the nagging feeling inside you knew it would keep bothering you if you didn’t address it now.
Before your nerves could get the better of you, a heavy exhale escaped you. “Chenle, there’s something I want to talk about.”
His eyebrows raised slightly in concern, sensing the apprehensiveness in your voice. “What’s up?” he asked.
The movie’s ambiance served as a backdrop to your hesitancy. But determined not to chicken out, you closed your eyes and blurted out, “I want to wait until marriage for sex!”
You opened your eyes to see Chenle’s face swiftly transition from a surprised expression to a more composed one. For some reason he thought you were going to break up with him or something. So when he processed your words, in his head he was like “oh, that was it?”
“Okay, that’s cool,” he said, figuring that was all and leaned back on the couch.
His nonchalant response left you looking at him in disbelief. “You’re not upset at all?”
“No, why would I be?” he chuckled, playfully nudging you. “Sex isn’t everything. If waiting until marriage is important to you, then I’m on board with that.”
The way his eyes reflected genuine sincerity, gave you more reassurance. “Gosh, you have no idea how happy it makes me to hear you say that,” you exhaled.
He grinned, wrapping his arms around your shoulders. He couldn’t resist teasing you a little.
“Well what can I say? You’re dating a great man.”
You rolled your eyes, earning a laugh from him as he pulled you closer. Secretly, you had to agree that Zhong Chenle was indeed a great man.

jisung
It really wasn’t a big deal to him. But he did think about it from time to time. The both of you were somewhat new to being in a relationship. However, after being together for a few months, Jisung thought the two of you should’ve had sex by now.
He was almost afraid to ask, because the two of you had never directly discussed sex before. But the desire to know your thoughts was becoming overwhelming, and Jisung knew that he’d explode if he didn’t bring up the subject.
As you lounged together in your living room, Jisung absentmindedly fiddled with the drawstrings of his hoodie. Occasionally he stole glances at you, who was scrolling through social media posts on your phone. He almost choked when you said something.
“Is there something on your mind, Jisungie?” you asked, without even looking up from your phone. It was as if you could sense he had something to say, solely by his body language. You had to hold back from smiling in amusement as his eyes widened in surprise.
The boy beside you laughed nervously as he sat up a bit straighter. “I—um want to talk about us. You know in terms of…”
“Sex?” you finished his sentence, throwing him off even more.
Jisung looked at you with a perplexed expression. “Are you a magician? How did you know that was what I wanted to talk about?”
“I don’t know, lucky guess?” you chuckled, casting your phone aside. “It’s also something I’ve been wanting to talk to you about too.”
“Really?!”
You nodded, flattening your hands across the blanket on your lap. “I know we’ve never discussed it before, but I think it’s best to be transparent with you. Is that okay?”
“Of course,” Jisung answered right away. “I want you to be honest with me, Jagi.”
Lowering your gaze, you took a deep breath before confessing, “Well, um—I want to wait until marriage for, you know, sex.”
It took a moment for you to gather the courage to look at Jisung again. When you did, you were met with an almost relieved expression.
“You know what? I think that’s a great idea,” Jisung said, assuringly. “We can just take our time, with no rush.”
You smiled in response, “I’m glad we’re on the same page then.”
Jisung’s shoulders visibly relaxed and he sank back into the couch. “Ugh, I feel so much better now that we’ve talked about it,” he said, covering his eyes.
Shaking your head with a laugh, you observed the boy in amusement.
“You’re such a dork,” you murmured, snuggling against his hoodie. Jisung smiled and snaked his arm around to hug you.
Jisung was genuinely relieved that you were both honest about your feelings of intimacy. In fact, he felt like having this conversation brought you even closer. Although you were both young, he felt secure knowing your relationship was built on a sense of connection and trust.

heyy! I have a request, can you show us how unhealthy and toxic Tomura is? NSFW if you want ✨️
TOXIC!BOYFRIEND TOMURA HEADCANONS!

A/N : okay ty for the first ask!! but imo he's not like DETRIMENTALLY toxic or physically, it's more or so the mindgames he plays and how he unknowingly does the things he does.
WARNINGS: toxic tomura, this is my first time writing him like actually mean so plz forgive, manipulation, all of..that, warnings for NSFW will appear.
he's very into guilt tripping, like actually, it's somewhat sickening at this point, he'll get pissed at just the slightest things and accuse you of hating him or intentionally doing it to piss him off.
he's the jealous kind, like really easy jealous kind, he'll slowly nitpick things about your friends until you cut most of them off of else he'll make you choose between him or them.
he never, ever says sorry, most if not all the blame is on you, he will never acknowledge that he is in the wrong and will blame the world around him for his own failure.
he's very straightforward, he will tell you what's on his mind, for better and for worse. the way he treats Kurogiri reflects on you.
the more vulnerable he gets with you, the more he begins to put his guard up, he's not used to the sensations your giving him, he'll take and take and take, barely giving anything back though.
Don't cry around him, it'll piss him off and he'll make poor half assed attempt to get you to stop, 'stop crying, it's annoying me.' or 'those tears will get you nowhere.'
if you aren't a member of the league, he will put them above you because he craves his 'rightful' seat at the throne as king of destruction, and his hate outweighs his 'love' for you.
he doesn't know how to comprehend his own emotions and will say things he will barely regret during a fit of rage, he'll blame it on you for sticking around.
all your conversations will mostly be about him, once it's about you he kind of looks off to the side and waits with a scoff.
he wants you to touch him but he'll get mad at you if you do.
he's a mess, one day he'll be praising you, touching you and even telling you all sorts of compliments before a little slip up can cause him to lose it and degrade you, say nothing but insults and berate you.
you aren't above AFO, the moment his master finds out about your little relationship (if he even considers it that) he'll break you off like your nothing to him.
his love for you is the same as how AFO loves yoichi.
NSFW AHEAD!
WARNINGS: dubcon, piss mentioned.
sex with him is honestly a hit or miss, he only mostly focuses on his own pleasure and chases his own high instead of trying to get you to cum too.
he doesn't like it when your kinks have something to do with you being on top, and in the bedroom, it's all about him, and it'll always be about him.
he'll have his orgasm, and recover for a bit, a factory reset for his body before he gets right back up to use his PC or go back to the league.
he's very demanding.
horrible in bed, since it's mostly about him it's all about what he likes, what his kinks are, and what makes him cum. he practically just humps you like a dog before he goes on his way.
aftercare, prep, praise, safewords? what's that? those don't exist for Tomura, you stop when he stops, don't want to leave him pissed off do you?
his kinks are gross, honestly. he looks like a basement dwelling NEET, so he'd probably have some freaky kinks, (mhoj2 he says alot of bdsm based lines) probably even piss if he's willing to put his trust in you that you won't snitch.
even if you do, the more vulnerable he gets he'll remind you that he can take your life any day, to keep you in a constant state of paranoia so you'll stay quiet and alongside him.
huge fan of somnophilia, he'll ask you about it and fuck you like a fleshlight while you're asleep, he's not so kinky to the point he'll have sex with you outside but, he'll indulge in it.
don't be surprised if you wake up with a load in or on you.
He gets really mad when you don't swallow, why? you think he's gross? why don't you just leave him at that point?
When you two break it off, he'll only really try and call you back for a quick fuck because he's tired of using his fist.
he'll never apologize for going overboard in bed, it's your fault you couldn't handle it.

“We should take things slow,” Seungmin says, backing away for the fourth time since he’s gotten to my room.
“Yeah, I agree.” I mustered out, unsure if I was mentally back yet when I replied because of the amount of fog in my head from the kisses.
The lingering taste of his kiss still tingled on my lips as we sat there, our breaths still mingling in the quietness of the room.
“I need to calm down,” Seungmin said embarrassed, trying to dismiss himself from the room. I could guess what “calming down” meant and my breath got stuck in my throat again, coughing slightly. Remembering the moment he left the room for a while yesterday night when all of his blood went to other places.
And as much as I wanted to say something, and tell him to stay, I knew that these boundaries were important to him and we should try to take things slow.
I watched him as he stood up, his movements a bit awkward as if he was fighting with himself to stay composed. His eyes flickered to the door and then back to me, a soft smile playing on his lips despite the clear tension in his shoulders.
"Right," I said, clearing my throat and trying to sound more confident than I felt. "Taking things slow is... good."
Seungmin nodded, his expression softening a bit at my words. "Yeah, it is. I just need to... take a moment."
I could see the faint blush on his cheeks, and it made my heart ache with a mix of affection and desire. He was trying so hard to keep things respectful, and I appreciated that more than I could express.
As he reached for the handle, he hesitated, glancing back at me one last time. "Um, Just… to let you know, I really like you. A lot."
My heart skipped a beat at his words, and I felt my face heat up. "I like you too, Seungmin. A lot."
A genuine smile broke across his face, and it was like the tension melted away just for a second. "I'll be back soon," he said softly before finally stepping out of the room.
As the door closed behind him, I let out a breath I didn't realize I had been holding. The room felt strangely empty without him, and the lingering warmth of his presence seemed to fade away slowly.
I leaned back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. Taking things slow was the right choice, but it was challenging. My mind replayed the moments we had shared, the way his lips had felt against mine, the way his touch had sent shivers down my spine.
For some reason, I felt tears welling up in my eyes, a sudden hit of overwhelming emotion. I was so lucky that he reciprocated the way I feel in some way, but he’s right about it being difficult. Maybe it was just the overwhelming feeling of happiness, nervousness, anticipation, and being unintentionally edged over and over again.
I wiped the tears away quickly, not wanting to dwell too much on the emotions I was feeling. There was a lot to process, and Seungmin and I had decided to take things slow, which meant I'd have to get used to managing these feelings without rushing into anything.
I knew I needed to keep myself occupied. I decided to tidy up my room, hoping the mundane task would help me regain some semblance of control over my racing thoughts.
Just as I was straightening a stack of books on my desk, I heard a soft knock at the door. My heart leapt into my throat, and I took a deep breath before opening it.
Seungmin stood there, looking more composed than when he had left. His eyes softened as he saw me, his face a little flushed and he offered a tentative smile. "Hey," he said quietly.
"Hey," I replied, stepping aside to let him in.
He nodded, stepping into the room and closing the door behind him. "Sorry that I keep on leaving."
"I understand," I said, smiling reassuringly.
Seungmin took a seat on the edge of the bed, his gaze fixed on the floor for a moment before he looked up at me. "I meant what I said earlier," he began softly. "About liking you. And about wanting to figure this out, together."
I felt a warmth spread through me at his words, and I nodded. "Me too. I want to find a way to make this work, no matter how complicated things might get."
He reached out, taking my hand in his and giving it a gentle squeeze. "We'll take it one step at a time."
I squeezed his hand back, feeling a surge of determination. "One step at a time," I echoed, a sense of hope blooming within me.
After sitting on the edge of my bed for a while, Seungmin hesitated for a while, as if he needed to say something more.
“Please don’t take this the wrong way,” Seungmin begins, and for some reason my heart immediately drops all the way to my stomach. “But… I don’t think we should, uhm” He looks at me, debating how he should choose his words. “...have sex… yet”
I felt a wave a relief, but also embarrassment hearing him say it out loud cause I thought it was already implied with “taking it slow”. “I really want to, like… do that, like, a lot, but now probably isn’t the best time.” he finishes off, nervously brushing his hair out of his eyes. His puppy eyes nervously scanned my face to see how I’d react.
I grabbed his hand and squeezed it lightly, quietly accepting his words. “I’ll wait for you.”
Seungmin's smiled, and he pulled me into a hug. I melted into his embrace, feeling the steadiness of his heartbeat against my cheek. It was a simple gesture, but it evoked such a warm feeling inside of me.
I let him hold me for a moment, listening to his soft breathing and quickening heartbeat.
I let Seungmin hold me for a while longer, savoring the closeness and the comfort of his embrace. When we finally pulled away, he gave me one last lingering look before leaving the room, promising to see me later.
When we had to gather for dinner, the atmosphere was charged with tension as our parents decided to have a family gathering in the dining area. Seungmin and I exchanged nervous glances as we entered the room, trying to act normal despite the many things we were hiding.
I was more upset than anything that baby Yun wasn’t here, I knew if he was here I would have something else to focus on. But he was gone visiting his grandparents for the weekend.
My mom was chatting animatedly with Seungmin's dad, their laughter filling the room. It was clear they were enjoying each other's company, which only made me more uncomfortable.
Seungmin and I sat on opposite ends of the table, pretending to be engrossed in our own thoughts. Every now and then, our eyes would meet, and a silent understanding passed between us.
"So, have you two been getting to know each other?" my mom asked, turning her attention to us.
I forced a smile, feeling the weight of her question. "Good," I replied, trying to sound casual. "We've been getting to know each other better."
Seungmin nodded in agreement. "Yeah."
His dad looked at us with a warm smile. "I was nervous! I thought they wouldn’t make an effort to get to know each other at all."
Seungmin and I exchanged a quick glance, I was suppressing the urge to laugh at the irony.
"Yeah, my daughter isn’t the social type" My mom said, almost teasing at me.
As the conversation continued, I couldn't help but steal glances at Seungmin. The memory of our kisses lingered in my mind, making it hard to focus on anything else. I could tell he was struggling too, his fingers tapping restlessly on the side of his thigh.
Our parents didn't seem to notice the underlying tension between us, too caught up in their own conversation. It was both a relief and a challenge, trying to maintain our secret while being so close to each other.
At one point, Seungmin's dad suggested playing a board game, and our parents eagerly agreed. Seungmin and I found ourselves sitting next to each other, our shoulders brushing occasionally as we moved pieces on the board.
The game was a distraction, but it also brought us physically closer. Every touch, however accidental, sent a jolt of electricity through me. I could feel the heat of Seungmin's body next to mine, his presence both comforting and exhilarating.
As the game progressed, I noticed Seungmin's fingers brushing against mine under the table. It was a small, discreet gesture, but it sent my heart racing. I glanced at him, and he gave me a subtle, reassuring smile.
His fingers were interlocked with mine, then when it was my turn to go my hand quickly broke apart with his. His hand fell from mine and gently rested on my thigh, his fingers tracing the outline of my jeans.
I felt heat follow everywhere he touched, making me shiver. He finally stopped when his hand reached out to lay on my inner thigh but did not move an inch. It was getting more and more hard to compose myself as he watched my reactions with a careful eye.
We continued the game, our parents oblivious to the silent communication happening between us.
At one point, Seungmin's dad excused himself to get more snacks from the kitchen, and my mom followed to help him. The moment they were out of earshot, Seungmin leaned in closer to me.
"How are you holding up?" he whispered, his breath warm against my ear.
I shuddered. "I’m…” I let out a quick shaky breath, “Managing. You?"
"Same," he replied softly. "I didn’t realize how hard this would be."
His words sent a shiver down my spine, and I bit my lip to suppress a smile. "Me too."
It was a little thrilling to hide this one thing from everyone, but I wasn’t sure how long I’d be able to hold it up.
And I remembered Seungmin’s words from earlier, how were we not going to get physical when this amount of contact was getting me worked up? I meant what I said to him, I was going to wait even if it killed me.
Two weeks had already passed, and I had stayed true to my word. I kept my hands off of him and he did the same. We would occasionally share a peck or he would give me a back hug when nobody was around, and those intimate moments were enough to keep me satisfied for the moment.
Yun had also been keeping me busy since he had started crawling around everywhere. I had my eyes on him like a hawk to make sure he wouldn’t do stupid baby stuff.
Seungmin had been beside me most of the time as well. But whenever I had to watch the baby, my attention would only be on the baby (for a good reason). As much as I was frustrated with my mom for going around and leaving us with the baby, I’m glad she gave me a good distraction.
I was cradling Yun for a while, and he had finally gone asleep in my arms. I placed him carefully in his crib when I felt arms snake around my waist and kisses on the back of my neck.
“Seungmin” I whispered out to him, enjoying the warmth and comfort of his embrace. His touch was gentle and I leaned back into him, savoring our one daily moment of intimacy.
“Wanna watch a movie tonight? We have the house alone tonight and we could finally hang out.” He whispered in my ear.
I smiled, feeling a rush of excitement at the prospect of spending more time alone with Seungmin. "Sure, that sounds great," I replied softly, turning around to face him and I couldn't help but lean in to kiss him gently on the lips.
"Let's pick a good movie," I suggested, already feeling the tension easing between us as we settled into the familiar rhythm of being together.
Seungmin nodded, his hand finding mine as we walked together to the living room. We scrolled through the movie options, our shoulders brushing as we debated over genres and actors. Eventually, we settled on a romantic drama, something light and entertaining.
As the movie played, we lounged on the couch, occasionally stealing glances and sharing soft laughs. The comfort of his presence filled me with a sense of contentment.
But once his hand found his way on my thigh again, my mind completely blanked again just like what happened at game night. I felt the tingling sensation and the sudden heat in my body.
I could see his eyes glued to the TV, but I couldn’t focus at all on what was happening. It wasn’t fair that I seemed to be the only one struggling this entire time when he seems perfectly fine.
As Seungmin's fingers traced gentle circles on my thighs, I could feel my mind growing hazy with desire. Each stroke sent a shiver down my spine, and I couldn't suppress a soft sigh as his touch moved higher, igniting a tingling sensation that stirred something deep within me. His concern was evident in the way he looked at me, his puppy-dog eyes searching for any sign of discomfort.
"Are you okay?" he asked softly, his voice laced with both worry and curiosity.
Instead of answering, a surge of longing and impatience surged through me. Without a word, I moved, pushing him back onto the couch and straddling his lap. I could sense his surprise and uncertainty, his wide eyes locked onto mine as I leaned in, capturing his lips in a hungry, heated kiss. It was as if all the pent-up longing and unspoken desire had finally found release.
His hands, initially hesitant, found my hips and pulled me closer, deepening the kiss with a fervor that matched my own. Our bodies pressed tightly together, each touch electrifying as we explored the depths of our passion. I tangled my fingers in his hair, pulling him closer, wanting to feel every inch of him against me.
Seungmin responded eagerly, his restraint giving way to the raw intensity between us. His hands roamed over my back, tracing the curves of my body with a growing urgency that mirrored my own. The kiss grew more fervent, more desperate, as if we were both trying to convey days of longing in that single moment.
My own need grew with every passing second, my hands exploring him with a hunger I hadn't realized I possessed. Fingers slipped under his shirt, tracing the contours of his slightly toned body, feeling the warmth of his skin against mine. When we finally broke the kiss, his surprise was palpable, his heavy breathing a testament to the intensity of our connection.
Seungmin's gaze met mine, his breath ragged against my skin. Without a word, he leaned in to trail kisses along the curve of my neck, his warm breath sending shivers down my spine. Each touch of his lips was a revelation, a new sensation that stirred me to my core. I moaned softly, unable to contain the pleasure that shot through me with each caress.
His hands tightened on my hips, pulling me closer as he continued to explore my neck and collarbone. The touch was both gentle and possessive, sending my senses reeling. I arched into him, seeking more of his touch, more of the electrifying sensation that only he could evoke.
Unconsciously, I found myself moving against his thigh, seeking some relief from the building tension between us. I gasped as I felt his hardness pressing against me, a physical reminder of our mutual desire. His lips continued their assault on my neck, soft and warm, igniting a fire that burned hotter with every passing second.
Seungmin's hands moved up my body, tracing the curves of my waist and the swell of my breasts. I let out a soft moan as he cupped my breast, his touch sending waves of pleasure through me. The heat between us intensified, the tension growing as we both struggled to control our escalating desire.
Pulling back slightly, I looked into his eyes, seeing the raw passion and longing mirrored in his gaze. His grip on my hips tightened, fingers digging into my skin as he pulled me closer. His lips crashed down on mine again, the kiss rough and demanding. I felt a rush of excitement as he took control, his hands roaming over my body with a newfound urgency.
"Hurry... do something," I pleaded, the words escaping my lips in a desperate whisper.
He didn't need further encouragement. With a swift movement, he yanked my shirt over my head, the sudden exposure to the air-conditioned room making me acutely aware of our heated surroundings. Seungmin's eyes roamed over my bare skin, drinking in every inch of me with an intensity that left me breathless.
His hands moved to my back, deftly unhooking my bra and letting it fall to the floor. He claimed my lips again, the kiss deepening as his hands roamed over my body with purpose. I could feel his hardness pressing against me, a physical manifestation of our shared need.
Seungmin's fingers traced the curve of my waist, his touch sending shivers down my spine. His thumbs brushed against my nipples, eliciting a soft moan from deep within me. Each caress was like a wildfire, spreading heat and desire through every inch of my body.
Seungmin pulled back slightly, his eyes searching mine for any sign of hesitation. "Is this okay?" he asked softly, his voice barely audible over the pounding of my heart. I nodded, my voice caught in my throat as I struggled to find the words to express the overwhelming desire that coursed through me.
His hands moved lower, fingers slipping beneath the waistband of my pants. I helped him to discard my pants, only leaving me in my underwear, which kind've felt awkward being the only one naked.
But it didn't matter when I saw his face as he scanned my body, looking at it as if it was the most beautiful thing he'd ever looked at.
Seungmin's gaze lingered on my body, his eyes filled with a mix of awe and desire. He reached out, his fingers tracing the edge of my panties, the touch sending a jolt of electricity through me. "Can I touch you?" he asked softly, his voice barely above a whisper.
I nodded, "Yes, please...." my heart pounding in my chest as I surrendered myself to him. Seungmin's fingers moved lower, first teasing the fabric, rubbing fingers slowly over my wetness, then slipping beneath the fabric of my panties. I gasped, his touch sending waves of pleasure through me.
Seungmin's eyes never left mine as he continued to explore me, his fingers moving with a slow, deliberate pace that left me aching for more. I could feel the heat building between us, the tension growing with each passing second.
His fingers found my clit, the touch sending a jolt of pleasure through me. I moaned softly, my hips bucking against his hand as he began to circle the sensitive nub. Each stroke sent a wave of pleasure through me, the heat building until I could barely breathe.
The way he was staring at my flushed face, watching my reactions, and making sure he was making me feel good was enough to drive me over the edge.
One of his fingers finally dipped into me, the sensation building to a crescendo. I could feel my body trembling, my heart racing with anticipation.
"Can I make you cum?" Seungmin asked softly, his voice laced with a mix of desire and concern. His eyes locked onto mine, searching for any sign of hesitation.
I nodded, all I could do was choke out a moan. I couldn't speak, couldn't think, couldn't do anything but feel the overwhelming pleasure that was building inside me. I held onto his arm as he prodded into me at a slow pace
Seungmin added another finger and quickened his pace, hitting the right spot and sending shivers down my spine.
As the pleasure built, I felt myself getting closer and closer to the edge. I could feel the heat building inside me, my breath coming in short gasps as I struggled to hold on.
Seungmin's fingers continued to work their magic, his touch sending waves of pleasure through me. I could feel my body tensing, my muscles clenching as I fought to hold on.
"For me," Seungmin whispered, his voice rough with desire. "Let go and let me make you feel good."
His words were enough to push me over the edge. I cried out, my body convulsing as I came, my muscles clenching around his fingers. I had never came down as hard as this before, but his fingers were like magic.
He slowly removed his fingers, not trying to overstimulate me. He then hurried off to get things to clean me with and get a change of clothes.
As the pleasure began to ebb away, I felt a wave of exhaustion wash over me. My limbs felt heavy, my eyelids drooping as I struggled to stay awake.
Seungmin must have noticed my tiredness, because he gently tucked me into his side, his arm wrapped around me protectively. I snuggled into him, enjoying the warmth of his body and the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
I wanted to do something for him, to return the favor and make him feel as good as he had made me feel.
I reached out, my hand finding his hardness through his pants. I could feel his sharp intake of breath as I began to stroke him, my movements slow and deliberate.
Seungmin let out a soft moan, his head falling back against the couch cushions. I could see the pleasure in his eyes, the way his body tensed and relaxed with each stroke. I smiled, feeling a sense of satisfaction at being able to give him this pleasure.
But Seungmin's hand stopped mine, his eyes meeting mine with a soft smile. "No, not tonight baby," he said, his voice gentle. "Tonight was about you, about making you feel good."
The pet name “baby” felt so good to hear in my head and I wanted to argue, to protest that I wanted to give him just as much pleasure as he had given me, but the warmth of Seungmin's embrace and the gentle reassurance in his eyes silenced any protest. He held me close, his touch soothing as I nestled against him, feeling safe and cherished.
The room felt cocooned in intimacy, the air thick with the lingering echoes of our passion. I could still feel the aftershocks of my release, a pleasant tingling that ebbed into a deep sense of contentment. Seungmin's heartbeat was steady beneath my ear, a comforting rhythm that lulled me toward sleep.
His fingers traced lazy patterns on my back, his touch a gentle caress that whispered of tenderness and care. I sighed softly, my exhaustion finally catching up with me as I let myself relax completely in his arms.
"Sleep, beautiful," Seungmin murmured, his voice a soft whisper against my hair. "I'll be right here."
With his comforting words, I closed my eyes, allowing sleep to claim me. Wrapped in Seungmin's embrace, I drifted into dreams filled with the warmth of his love and the promise of tomorrow.
The morning sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the room as I woke up. Memories of last night flooded back to me, the warmth of Seungmin's touch still all over my body, and the way he guided me through everything brought heat back to my cheeks.
I felt so happy, but a little upset that I couldn’t do more for him.
The sound of my bedroom door opening abruptly pulled me out of my reverie. It was my mother, her expression a mixture of concern and disapproval.
"Good morning," I greeted tentatively, sensing the tension in the air.
My mother's eyes narrowed as she surveyed the room, her gaze landing on the disheveled bed and my tousled hair. "Do you have any idea what time it is?"
I glanced at the clock and winced. "Um, sorry, I lost track of time."
She sighed heavily, folding her arms across her chest. "I understand, but you can't keep disappearing like this. Joon is trying to connect with you, and you're barely giving him a chance."
I felt a surge of irritation at her words. "I can't keep relationships? Maybe I learned that from you."
My mother's face hardened at the accusation, her lips pursed tightly. "This isn't about me, it's about your future. You need to start thinking about your responsibilities."
I shook my head, frustration bubbling up inside me. "I'm trying, okay? But it’s kind’ve hard to think of my future when we’re constantly moving around, how can I keep relationships, mom?”
My mother's expression hardened further at my retort, her brows furrowing in displeasure. "Moving around is no excuse. Plenty of people manage to maintain relationships despite changes."
I stood up from the bed, suddenly feeling defensive. "Maybe if you'd consider staying put for once, I wouldn't feel like every connection I make is temporary."
Her eyes flashed with hurt, but she quickly composed herself. "Life isn't that simple, and sometimes we have to make sacrifices for our future."
I crossed my arms, feeling the weight of frustration and resentment building inside me. "What about my future? What about what I want?"
"You're still young," she replied sharply. "You need stability, discipline. I’m trying to provide that for you."
"Yeah, by dragging us from city to city every few years!" I shot back, my voice rising. "I can't even have a stable friendship, let alone a relationship!"
Her lips pressed into a thin line. "You need to learn to adapt."
I shook my head, feeling tears of frustration welling up. "Adapt? How am I supposed to adapt when I don't even know where we'll be next year?"
"We're doing what's best for us," she insisted, her tone firm. "You need to think beyond your immediate desires."
I took a step closer to her, my voice trembling with emotion. "Maybe I wouldn't need to cling to every fleeting moment of happiness if I felt like I had some stability."
Her expression softened slightly, a flicker of regret passing through her eyes.
I turned away, blinking back tears. "I just want to feel like I belong somewhere."
She reached out tentatively, but I pulled away, needing space to breathe. The weight of our argument hung heavy in the air, words left unsaid but emotions raw and exposed.
After a moment of tense silence, she spoke again, her voice softer now. "I know you're upset, but I promise I’m trying to set roots."
I turned back to face her, my anger fading into resignation. "I know."
Her gaze softened, a trace of maternal concern in her eyes. "Give Joon a chance. He cares about you, even if it doesn't always feel that way."
I nodded, feeling drained by the emotional turmoil of our conversation. "I'll try."
She turned and slowly closed my door, leaving me to be alone as I wiped away the tears from my eyes.
There was only one place I wanted to be right now, back in Seungmin’s arms, where I felt understood and cared for, or back in the nursery, surrounded by Yun and Seungmin, where everything felt simpler and more comforting.
As I sat alone in my room, the weight of the morning's argument still heavy on my heart, I couldn't shake the feeling of being torn between two worlds. On one hand, there was Seungmin, whose presence brought me comfort and a sense of belonging I rarely felt elsewhere. On the other hand, there was Joon, my mother's choice for stability and a future she deemed secure.
I buried my face in my hands, trying to sort through the jumble of emotions. The memory of Seungmin's touch lingered, a warmth that contrasted sharply with the cool, calculated words of my mother. I wanted stability, yes, but not at the cost of sacrificing every connection that meant something to me.
I felt a strong urge to hear Seungmin’s voice, I needed to hear him, I missed him so much. I feel like he’s the only thing that would cheer me up at a time like this.
I picked up my phone, fingers trembling slightly as I scrolled through the contacts until I found Seungmin's name. With a deep breath, I pressed the call button, hoping beyond hope that he would answer.
The phone rang once, twice, and just as I feared he might not pick up, I heard his voice on the other end. "Hello?"
"Seungmin," I breathed out, relief flooding through me at the sound of his voice. "It's me."
There was a pause, then a soft, comforting reply. "Hey... Are you okay?"
Tears welled up again, my voice wavering as I struggled to keep it steady. "Not really. I just... I needed to hear your voice."
"I'm here," he reassured me gently. "Whatever you need, I'm here."
His words were like a lifeline, grounding me in the midst of turmoil. "I miss you," I admitted quietly, feeling a rush of vulnerability.
"I miss you too," Seungmin replied softly. "I’m not home but, do you want me to come?"
The thought of him being here, of his comforting presence, was exactly what I needed. "Yes, please."
"I'll be there soon," he promised, before hanging up the phone.
I clutched my phone tightly, the reassurance of Seungmin’s promise echoing in my mind. The weight of the morning’s argument felt a bit lighter now, replaced with the anticipation of seeing him again. I knew I needed to pull myself together before he arrived.
Taking a deep breath, I stood up and walked to the bathroom connected to my room. Splashing cold water on my face, I stared at my reflection in the mirror. Red-rimmed eyes, tear-streaked cheeks, it was clear I had been crying. I took a few moments to compose myself, running my fingers through my hair and tidying up my appearance as best as I could.
The moment I stepped back into my room, I heard two soft knocks at my door.
Opening the door, I was met with his concerned gaze. He looked as if he had rushed over, slightly out of breath, but his eyes softened as they met mine.
"Hi," he said gently, stepping inside and closing the door behind him. "Are you alright?"
I nodded, but the tears threatened to spill again. "Better now that you're here."
He pulled me into a tight embrace, and I clung to him, feeling the tension melt away. "I'm here," he murmured into my hair. "I've got you."
For a few moments, we stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, finding solace in the shared silence. Finally, he pulled back slightly, looking into my eyes. "Do you want to talk about it?"
I sighed, nodding. "It's just... my mom and I argued. She doesn't understand how hard it is to lose your dad and then all of a sudden never have a place to call home again, and she thinks dating a bunch of guys will somehow fix our problems."
Seungmin's expression softened with understanding as he listened. He guided me over to the edge of the bed, where we sat down together, he scanned my face and wiped away the stray tears.
“What if… she’s really in love with Joon?” I said, my voice shaky, “What does that mean for us..?”
Fear was in my eyes as I scanned his face, as he was thinking of how to respond.
Seungmin held my gaze for a long moment, his brow furrowed in thought as he considered my question. He reached out, gently brushing his thumb across my cheek, wiping away the last remnants of tears.
"I don't know what it means for us," he began softly, his voice carrying a mix of concern and reassurance. "But I do know that whatever happens between your mom and my dad, it doesn't change how I feel about you. I like you a lot, and I want to be here for you, no matter what."
His words eased some of the fear tightening my chest. I leaned into his touch, seeking comfort in his presence. "I'm scared," I admitted quietly, feeling vulnerable.
"I understand," Seungmin replied, his voice tender. “But I’m not giving you up, that’s not an option I’d ever consider.”
I placed a soft kiss on his lips He smiled, and I knew everything was going to be alright.

how would cole and jay and nya relationship would be like in the chimera au
So here’s a lil fact about me- most of the time I CANNOT stand love triangles. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate the trope. It can be very entertaining when written correctly but half the time I see a love triangle in a show, I just wind up sitting there wondering why they don’t all just go poly lmao. So when I first watched s3 and they first introduced the Jay x Nya x Cole love triangle, you can probably imagine where my train of thought led me.
So to begin with, in Chimera Parents au the love triangle probably gets nipped in the bud early on because Nya is well aware of the fact you can be interested in more then one person at time and that it’s completely normal thanks to her parents. Meanwhile, Cole has always had a bit of one-sided crush on Jay long before they even meet the chimera siblings. And while a part of him wants to be petty against Nya for catching Jay’s eye, he finds he can’t because once he gets to know her, she’s like genuinely cool and it’s impossible to hate her when he totally understands why Jay likes her. And Cole -despite his dad clearly having something going on with his quartet- doesn’t even consider the possibility that you can have a crush on multiple people at the same time cause in his head, he’s like “well, sure, Nya is really pretty and she totally kicks butt and I don’t mind listening to her talk tech like Jay all day but like I still really big crush on Jay. So obviously all these thoughts are just me thinking she’s really cool, no deeper meaning”
Meanwhile Jay on the flip side, has no clue he’s even bi despite definitely having the passing thought that some guys are really cute but he doesn’t got time to dwell on that, not when he got himself a pretty dragon girlfriend. And for Nya, well, she never evened considered seeing Cole that way until that dumb soulmate machine claimed they’d be a perfect match and why would she when she’s perfectly happy with Jay? Honestly, Nya’s first instinct with the whole machine is to just write it off because that shit only has power over you if you let it. She winds up telling Jay about the incident cause she knows if she doesn’t, one of the students will (the little shits that they are) and then he’ll start overthinking it when he has nothing to worry about cause Nya still likes his corny butt. And even though they managed to mostly laugh it off, well now, she’s thinking bout it. And noticing things about Cole. The little things like how much of sweetheart he actually is. And then she notices how he treats differently he treats Jay compared to her brother and Zane and the cogs in her head start turning.
Meanwhile Jay- well, he’s trying to play it cool. Really he is! He appreciates Nya telling him what happened and appreciates the reassurance but well, when he thinks about who wouldn’t wanna be with Cole over him?! I mean, he can see the appeal. Cole is sweet, he’s strong, he’s got great music taste, he always let Jay steal some of his cake, and his muscles are really nice and huh, these thoughts are lingering a lot more then they probably should.
Long story short, instead of the soulmate machine causing a giant friendship/relationship ruining blow up fight, the main love drama of s3 of the Chimera au is Mudshock realizing they may be poly and the confusing will they-won’t they that ensues as the trio tries to figure out if they’re all on the same page.

Hii!! I saw you had a Jamil dream(?) (I love when I have those) so I wrote a little drabble on after-relationship with Jamil? Hope you like it.
It was a very long hard day from work. There were too many deadlines and so many new projects and honestly, you're surprised you lasted this long. But the day is over, and you seriously don't want to dwell on it any longer. You unlock your front door, while muttering "knock, knock, open up" to no one in particular.
You are greeted by a delicious smell and by a tad bit confusion. "Jamil's home?', you wonder aloud. Your boyfriend often travels to places (idk lets just pretend there is a job for that), and you usually just meet up virtually. But before you could ponder a bit longer (and fully appreciate that the love of your life is home with you right now while you really really need him), a flurry of colorful feathers attacks you.
Yago (yes he's based of Iago) was very excited to see you again. Jamil had him for quite a while before you came to his life, and you've came to love the little big bird. After calming him down, you go to the kitchen. Jamil's busy cooking, so he doesn't notice you. You sneak up behind him and pepper him with kisses. He yelps, covering his face (covering his blush). After a moment, he regains his voice.
"You're home", he says, but it sounds more like a question. You nod. It felt good to be home. "Whatcha cooking", you ask, "I've never seen that before". He explains how it's a soup he found on his travels, something called sopas? It wasn't that spicy, but he thought you might like it, so he asked for the recipe.
You smiled. Your boyfriend was so caring, and you loved that about him. Suddenly, Jamil cupped your face and wiped the tears from your eyes. You didn't realize you were crying. This day must've left a bigger toll than you thought. You tried to wipe the tears away quickly, but he stopped you. And in his sweet steady responsible voice, Jamil asked you what was wrong.
Needless to say, there was lots of cuddles. The soup was packed in the fridge, to be reheated tomorrow. You spent the whole night with your arms wrapped around each other, telling each other stories about your week. It seemed that you weren't the only one who was tired. The moon watched over a sleeping pair of lovebirds (you and Jamil) and a sneaky little parrot opening its masters' fridge.
A/N hope you liked it!! I put sopas because me brain cannot think of anything soupier and also the internet couldnt find any spicy soup (it crashed i think)
Uhh, this is amazing! I really like what you wrote! I've had a very busy week and this message made my day.
Thank you very much and continue to write such good posts!

[MK X READER] New Era - Chapter .011
first part | previous part | next part
NOTE: HERE WE ARE Y’ALL!! THE START OF THE OUTWORLD TOURNAMENT ARC!
Some context: For the sake of having more interactions and letting me write more I’m extending the tournament to have a fight per day + a bit more at the end. So basically the outworld tourney will be 7 days for each fight + a day or two more <3
Havik made it in as a love interest! His poll was so chaotic, which I guess makes sense? Haha, Ashrah made it in too, and she was by far the closest we’ve had to the 50/50! Now that Ashrah’s chapter is done, it means that’s our completed love interest roster! I have updated all the tags/the intro to fit this!
Even though the poll for chapter 10 is done on Tumblr, I do need to still calculate the votes from AO3 too, so that means it’s mainly between Johnny vs Bi Han, so I’ll announce the winner of that next chapter.
Here’s a genuine thank you all for reading this <3 I am overwhelmed by all the love and support you guys give, you’re all so amazing! Also haha sorry how long this took to finally get out.
FROM THE EYES OF ONE WHO EXPERIENCES OUTWORLD FOR THE FIRST TIME
You barely had time to decipher the memories you had unlocked.
You, after all, had other duties to attend to. Or at least, that’s what you told yourself. The tournament was a week away after all, so you had a lot of last minute duties you wanted to wrap up before going away for a little over a week. Or at least, that long assuming Raiden would win his challenges. You were thankful for the last minute tasks you had found to busy yourself with. You weren’t quite sure if you really wanted to dwell on what you had seen.
It, in all honesty, scared you.
How else were you supposed to respond to suddenly seeing a bunch of gore and having a major part of your backstory unlocked? You were handed the burden of learning that you went through, and yet it only added more questions. Throughout the week you considered confiding in Liu Kang about it all: telling him how you’re terrified of what you saw, and how you’re sorry you lied.
But you just couldn’t.
Fear grasped at you, sewing your mouth shut. It wasn’t as if you were afraid of Liu Kang hating you at first. You’re certain Liu Kang would allow you to tell him your tale with no judgement. You’d even bet on your own life that he would even comfort you for what you saw. He was far too kind to you. But then your mind kept on spiraling over the idea of what happens after.
He’d ask why you lied. Then he’d find out you’ve always lied about your memories, or at least not told him about them. It was a slippery slope. And there was just a lot of things to unpack there that would surely fracture the relationship between you and the god. And, while you weren’t taking advantage of him, the selfish voice in your head whispered how you couldn’t ruin the only chance at Outworld and finally find out more.
You came up with a solution to calm your nerves, even just a bit, that maybe you should finally tell him after the trip…assuming you got the courage to.
You weren’t sure if you trusted yourself on your little solution though, after all your mind poisoned your thoughts, still telling you that it was better you lied to him and to continue to lie to him. It had worked out so far, why change things? After all, you had a gut feeling that Liu Kang was keeping back secrets from you too. It was just a gut feeling, but you trusted your gut. But you also trusted Liu Kang. It was a debate you kept on going back and forth on, and could never figure out a conclusion to.
You felt like you had a right to keep these things secret. He wasn’t obligated to know every single thing about you. The god probably had a reason to keep things from you as well, just like you did. You weren’t obligated to know everything either, even if you so desperately wanted to. Still, you selfishly decided for now it was fair to keep your own secrets. It was to protect yourself.
You were definitely visiting Madam Bo after this trip, maybe you needed some good advice on this one.
“Are you overworking yourself?” Liu Kang inquired as you passed by one afternoon. You had been going to and fro, trying to distract yourself. You stopped, the authority in his voice making you pause. You shifted in place, avoiding looking at him as you cast your gaze to the side.
“No, I haven’t.” You had told him, which had been partially true. While you had been running around like a chicken whose head had been cut off, you hadn’t been over doing it. At least, by your standards. You took in a deep breath as you felt Liu Kang grab one of your hands. You looked up in surprise as his hand squeezed yours gently.
“Good.” He said, his voice full of warmth. Your stomach squirmed as you were filled with guilt at the look he gave you. A smile was on his lips. His thumb gently rubbed a few circles on the back of your hand, as if he were casting a protective spell on you. “I’m proud of how well you trained Raiden and the others. I am certain Raiden will do great at the tournament.”
You were at a loss of words, feeling your chest tighten. You nodded instead, and Liu Kang dropped your hand. He gave you a pat on the back as he passed you, walking off to what you assumed was the Wu Shi to help Raiden. You felt…colder. You supposed it was simply a side effect of Liu Kang being a fire god and him no longer being by your side.
Liu Kang made keeping secrets difficult.
Still, despite your worries, the week breezed by fast. And now you found yourself standing in front of the Fire Temple, waiting for your students and the monks to arrive. You swallowed your nerves, trying to force yourself to feel more relaxed. This was supposed to be exciting after all.
To your delight, you weren’t waiting long. The monks first arrived, and you directed them happily to the waiting area for whenever Liu Kang was ready. Many of them had regarded you warmly. Then, you smiled as you saw your four students come and arrive.
“Excited?” You inquired as they drew closer. You scanned them, noting their choice of outfits. It had been a while since you’ve seen them wear anything other than their most casual clothes or their Shaolin uniforms. It was a bit odd, but it was a breath of fresh air. The outfits suited them well.
“I’m excited, albeit a bit overwhelmed and nervous.” Raiden admitted a mixture of nervousness and a genuine smile on his face. He tipped his head forward, his straw hat obscuring the look on his face. Despite that, you forced your gaze on his head, trying to avoid the amulet that sent fear down your spine. You wanted to look at anything but that right now
“Psh, you’ll be fine.” Kung Lao scoffed, placing a reassuring hand on his friend’s shoulder. He shot you a look of disbelief as he gestured to the new champion. “He’s been in his head about this whole thing, can you believe it?” He looked back over to his friend, shaking him slightly with the hand on his shoulder. “You have to be more confident. If you can beat me you can handle them all.” You smiled at his encouragement nodding.
“Kung Lao’s right, Raiden.” You told him, crossing your arms. “There’s a reason why you’re our champion.” You watched as Raiden’s head lifted up, a more confident expression on his face, though it was still tinged with a bit of nervousness. “Be confident in your abilities, otherwise I will start to think I’m a bad teacher.” You jested, adding on a small chuckle.
“You are anything but that.” Raiden commented, making your smile grow just a bit wider. The others nodding as well warmed your heart. You shooed them off after that short moment, yet one of them hung back to linger. While the Fengjian farmers were too caught up talking to each other to notice, you noted the side eye Kenshi shot Johnny as he hung back. Odd.
“You aren’t exempt from waiting with the others, you know.” You said, raising an eyebrow as you eyed Johnny. The actor shot you his signature grin, which you both knew didn’t work on you. With a confident stride, Johnny slung an arm over your shoulder and pulled out his phone. You raised an eyebrow at the casual contact, but didn’t shrug him off. Over the last few months, ever since the late night discussion, you’ve grown used to the causal contact.
You just assumed Johnny was getting more friendly with you.
“I know, teach.” Johnny said, causally scrolling through his phone. You tried to keep your gaze away from it out of respect, but the temptation was strong. “But I think I have something that might interest you.” He said, sending you a sly look. You simply looked at him with an unimpressed look, and he took it as his cue to continue on. “I hear you and hat boy had a bet?” He inquired, still showing off his pearly whites to you.
“And what of it?” You asked, placing a hand on your hip as you sent him a skeptical look. Your head tilted as you thought of why he would bring it up. You figured it wasn’t the oddest thing he knew about it, Kung Lao had probably bragged about his victory to the group. You had settled that you would make him his feast after the trip.
“Well, what if I told you I might have some video evidence that might please you?” He said, his voice dripping with confidence. Your eyebrows raised again, and you pursed your lips, not knowing what to make of his offer. “Listen, it’s all legit. I recorded the hat kid and thunder lad discussing something and you might be interested in seeing it.” He egged you on.
“And why are you telling me this?” You inquired, looking at Johnny with the same skeptical look, not quite yet taking the bait.
“Look, I like you teach, so I wanna cut you a sweet deal.” The actor said, and you knew he was trying to work up his charisma. “You get the ultimate evidence towards Kung Lao so you rectify your little bet and I get a little reward too.” Johnny offered, waving his phone with a paused video on the screen. Now he was deliberately showing you the screen.
You squinted at the phone. You could see the back of Kung Lao, he seemed to be talking to Raiden who seemed to have a somewhat disapproving look on his face. You looked more carefully. It seemed to be the same day of the exam, so it would fall under the betting time.
“Alright, I’ll bite. What do you want?” You asked, a small sigh leaving your lips as you finally relented. You saw Johnny’s grin grow wider as he raised his eyebrows in a cocky manner. His smile turned into a self assured smirk, thinking he had you in his trap.
“I saw from tattoo that you started hooking him up with some sweet meals.” He started, and you blinked in surprise at the topic of conversation. You nodded, then let him speak more. “I think that little feast you were planning to make that hat boy, you give to me…and Madam Bo’s special tea.”
“I’ll give you Madam Bo’s special tea and just one meal.” You counter offered quickly, crossing your arms. You watched as Johnny Cage sent you an offended look. You held back a chuckle of amusement at the expression.
“After my generous deal?” The American asked, his face scrunching up. “No way, wildstyle!” He scoffed, a small pout on his lips. You shook your head in amusement as you sent him a look.
“You may think you have the high ground here with your little offer, but you gave me more information than you thought you did.” You said, pointing at his phone screen. His eyes glanced over to the paused screen. “I can just ask Raiden if Kung Lao cut his finger.” You pointed out. “I think he’d be more likely to tell me if I just asked.”
“Hm…” Johnny stared at you for a good long moment. You could see the gears turning in his head at your point. You assumed he had plenty of experience in this sort of thing. “You think that golden boy would betray his best buddy like that?”
“Maybe, maybe not, but I can always offer him what I offered youI’m certain he’d take the deal and you’d be left with nothing.” You point out with a shrug, trying to hold out a little on your bluff. You weren’t entirely sure if Raiden would take your offer, but it was worth a bluff.
“Fine.” Johnny groaned with a pout, his head dropping. His head brushed your shoulder, and you rolled your eyes in a playful way. “You drive a hard bargain. You ever consider becoming an agent for Hollywood?” He inquired, tilting his head to look at you, his cheek still resting on your shoulder. “I could use someone like you.”
“Hah, funny offer.” You laughed, and Johnny’s smile returned in a more sincere way. “I think I’d rather act in one of your movies than become whatever your agent is.” You remarked, which grew Johnny’s smile even more. You used your hand to move his head off your shoulder. “Chin up, Johnny.”
“Really now?” He said, a hint of amusement and hope in his voice. “I’ll be holding you up to that statement, you know.” Johnny said, nudging you a bit with his shoulder.
“I didn’t commit to anything, Cage.” You pointed out with a small shake of your head. “Now show me the video you were bragging so much about.” You commanded, looking from the actor to the paused video he had been waving in front of your face. With a small smile, he tapped the screen, unpausing the video.
You watched as Kung Lao approached Raiden, talking to him about something. His back was to the camera, so it was a bit hard to see what he was exactly doing, but you can glean enough from what he was saying. You could see him, or at least you assumed, trace the brim of the hat. Then you heard an “ow” and the man winced.
You watched with a slow smirk spreading across your lips as he froze, before quickly telling Raiden that he “didn’t see anything”. Raiden looked very confused at the sudden command, which prompted Kung Lao to tell him that he would just “tell him later”. All he had to do was just not tell you about it.
“There, as promised.” Johnny told you, a cheeky grin sent your way. You returned the look before peering back down at the video, which continued to play, showing Kung Lao now showing off his hat. “Aren’t you glad I’m looking out for you, wildstyle?”
“I’m honored.” You replied sarcastically, playfully rolling your eyes. “A person who was actually looking out for me would tell me without wanting something in return, you know.” You pointed out. “Still grateful though. I have to ask, why were you interested in my cooking all of a sudden?”
“Hey, nothing comes for free.” Johnny said, shrugging his shoulders causally. “You’re welcome, by the way.” The American paused, humming as he pursed his lips. “Well, it started when I caught tattoo holding one of your meals. It looked delicious, he didn’t let me try though.” He let out a dramatic sigh. “And then Kung Lao began bragging that he’d get a full feast from you and well…” He shook his phone, and you connected the dots.
“I get it.” You said, nodding. You realized how long the two of you had been standing around for. You send him a small smirk and you let out a small laugh. “You could have just asked for food if you really wanted it, but I appreciate the help.” You admitted, before shrugging off his arm and walking ahead, gesturing for him to follow. “Now come on.”
“Wait, you would really?” Johnny called out after you, following you closely. He raised his eyebrows, scanning your face with a hint of suspicion. “Where’s the catch here?” He inquired, the suspicion leaking into his voice.
“You’ve known me long enough, Johnny.” You told him, looking over to him with an amused look. “There’s no catch. I don’t mind doing that kind of stuff for you guys.” You said, which was true. You wouldn’t mind doing anything for them as long as it made them happy. You always were too much of a people pleaser.
“Yeah, I should have known.” The actor said with a sigh. He rubbed the back of his neck, looking over at you. “You’re way too generous, you know that?” He told you, which led to you letting out a small chuckle of surprise. “Here, use this to stick it to Kung Lao, just give it back before we head out.” You caught Johnny’s phone when he tossed it over to you, then he jogged ahead.
You smiled as you held the phone. While he wasn’t the most protective over it, you still felt a sense of trust put in you due to you holding the precious object. With a little more pep in your step as well as the determination of a person with a vengeance, you walked over to Kung Lao, tapping his shoulder. You hid the phone behind your back as the man turned around.
“Yes?” The former farmhand inquired, sending you a confident smile. You had a feeling he was still feeling a bit smug after “winning” the bet. You let a slow smirk spread across your lips, then your eyes fell to look at his shirt. Your brain paused as you took a moment to stare at the dragon design on the left side.
Was that the same design as the necklace you were wearing? You wondered over that fact for a moment as you realized, yes…yes it was. Your smirk turned into a smile for a moment as you realized this. It felt…nice to be matching with him.
“I heard from a little birdie that you lied.” You said, breaking your gaze away from his shirt. Your smile turned into a smirk again. You watched as Kung Lao looked at you with pure confusion. “I’m referring to the bet that we had between us.” You clarified. Then, you watched as he sent a look over to Raiden, who simply shrugged.
“Me? Lie?” Kung Lao inquired, raising his eyebrows as he pretended to not know what you were talking about. He crossed his arms, his head tilting upwards. “Hah! I would never.” He said, his self confident front holding up. You would have believed it too, had you not witnessed the video that Johnny had given you.
“I wouldn’t lie Kung Lao, that’s not something neither I or the monks taught you.” You chided playfully. An offended look appeared on the man’s face, then it turned into surprise as you revealed the phone you had hidden behind your back. “Want to confess now? Or should I show the damning evidence I was so preciously given?”
“I…uh…” Kung Lao floundered, searching for an excuse to spin the tale in his favor. You assumed from the screen he already knew what the video was going to show. After a few moments, he sighed in resignation. “Okay. you got me.” He admitted, hanging his head. You nodded slowly, crossing your arms. “Sorry?” He said, giving a half apology with a small shrug with an apologetic smile. You let out a laugh.
“Apology accepted, though I thought you’d have more honor in a bet since you do it so much.” You pointed out, which prompted a somewhat guilty look from the man. “Don’t worry, I won’t make you do anything bad.” You told him, the wicked smile spreading across your lips said otherwise. You watched as Kung Lao looked like he regretted his actions, though you did hear him mutter under his breath he would definitely be getting Johnny back for this betrayal.
“I see we have all gathered.” Liu Kang spoke up, walking up to the group that gathered. His gaze swept over the group that you had gathered, an approving look on his face. You noticed Kenshi and Johnny walked up beside you, and you handed over the phone back to the actor. “It is time.” He told you all, leading you all into a pavilion.
Excitement filled you as Liu Kang began to summon the portal. From the corner of your eye, you watched as Johnny began to record the process. However, as the portal began to form, your excitement turned into a massive headache, and you let out a small hiss as you clutched your head. This was worse than any headache you’ve had recently.
“Are you okay?” Kenshi whispered, leaning towards you. He placed a hand on your shoulder. You looked over, trying to send him a convincing smile. He didn’t buy it, and a look of concern remained on his face as he looked at you.
“I’m fine.” You managed to say, your smile wavering as your head pounded with searing pain. “I just get massive migraines sometimes.” You lie, the same lie you’ve always used whenever someone that wasn’t Liu Kang caught you having these pains.
“I see.” Kenshi said, yet his hand remained on your shoulder as a source of comfort. He tried to send you a reassuring smile. It helped a bit, even if it didn’t alleviate the pain at all. His hand on your shoulder was doing more to help you. It felt like an anchor to the real world amidst all the pain. You leaned slightly towards the swordsman, allowing yourself to temporarily lean against him. He let you, his grip growing firmer.
The light of the portal flashed and pulsed, orange light shining on all of your faces. Had you not been in pain, you figured you would have appreciated how beautiful it was. But now, it just served to add to your nausea. You breathed in, trying to go through the pain. You could only hope it only got better.
“Outworld can be both alien and intoxicating to Earthrealmers.” Liu Kang spoke, and you forced yourself to focus on his voice to drown out the pain. “Do not become drawn in.” The fire god warned. You wondered briefly, if that extended to you. You nodded slowly, regretting it as it felt like you were beginning to sway. Kenshi righted you, using his hand to make sure you didn’t fall over. “You must focus on the task at hand.”
Soon enough, the portal was completed. With confident strides, Liu Kang entered the portal composed of pulsing and swirling orange energy. You followed in tow, Kenshi’s hand staying on your shoulder for only a few more moments to make sure you were alright before dropping. You bit the inside of your cheek and clenched your fists, trying to abate the pain.
You barely noticed Johnny pointing the camera your way. With a huff, Kenshi shoved the camera away, sending him a look. This made the actor send him a look of disbelief at the action. You managed to send the ex gang member a grateful look before you stepped to the otherside of the portal.
For a moment, you experienced nothingness. You couldn’t see, hear, feel, or sense anything in general. Then, there was a searing pain that engulfed your entire body. You tried to scream, but it was as if you lost your voice. It was as if your headache had spread across your form and had been multiplied by ten. Thankfully, it was only for a moment and then it disappeared.
It seemed the pain dissipating had taken the bulk of your headache, leaving you only with a dull discomfort. It was akin to a slight pressure in your head, nowhere near as bad. It was an annoyance, but it wasn’t unbearable anymore.
After a moment, you found yourself emerging on the other side of the portal. Your eyes widened as you looked around, wondering if anyone else had gone through an excruciating experience like you. As you watched their reactions, you realized they must have not. The others were immersed in the beauty of the world, and you doubted they would look as relaxed as that if they had gone through the same thing. So, you forced yourself to focus on the area around you
Gone was the desolate and war torn Outworld that your brain knew. Instead, you were greeted with a world full of beauty and life. You felt torn. You were happy it looked to be thriving as much as Liu Kang had told you. And yet, at the same time, you wondered if this world was going to be able to offer you anything useful to your past with how…different it was.
Still, you found yourself in awe of the area. It looked like a garden was surrounding the portal, which seemed to be integrated beautifully into the architecture. Whites, purples, and greens were the main color scheme of the area, giving it a regal vibe.
“Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kanas anymore.” Johnny remarked as he filmed the area, and you recalled when Johnny had put on that movie during one of the movie nights. You felt a bit happy that you could actually recognize one of his movie references.
As your gaze wandered from the area itself to what was in front of you, your eyes finally settled on two figures dressed in pink and blue respectively. They stood amongst dozens of guards, all notably women. On the stairs, there was a beautifully woven purple carpet. It vaguely reminded you of the red carpet Johnny had bragged so much about.
Your mind had a hazy realization that you recognized the two standing upon the steps. But through the dull pain, no memories popped up. You figured it was the result of too many memories trying to break free, much like when you had first trained the four champions.
“Oh my…are those?” Johnny Cage spoke, as the two figures approached, walking causally down the steps. He looked over to the group, assessing their reactions as he kept the camera facing forward. The others, predictably, did not share the actor’s sentiments.
“Empress Sindel’s daughters, yes.” Liu Kang replied, a hint of sterness in his voice. Taking that as your cue, you nudged Johnny, indicating to him to knock it off. Of course, the actor just sent you a pout. Liu Kang also looked back to send him a look.
“They do not disappoint.” Johnny continued to comment, earning another nudge from you. “Okay! Okay! I get it!” He hissed out. Your eyes landed on the guard closest to you. You and her made eye contact for a moment, which led to another feeling of familiarity hitting you. How many people would you meet that you knew previously?
“Please be respectful.” You told Johnny Cage, leaning towards him to whisper it in a discreet way. “We’re here as guests, and I’d rather not get on anyone’s bad side.” You said, giving him a pointed look. He sighed but nodded.
“Fine.” The actor agreed, holding back the childish urge to roll his eyes at your chiding. “Won’t stop me from at least admiring them, though.” Johnny relented, his gaze lingering on you for a few moments. He looked you up and down, much to your confusion before returning his gaze back to the Outworlders.
As you all stopped in front of the blue and pink duo, Liu Kang bowed. Quickly, everyone followed suit, replicating the gesture. You focused your attention on the duo, trying to work out who they were. They definitely looked familiar…and they seemed near identical.
Ah. While your memories weren’t popping up, you made the connection. Liu Kang had pointed out these were the princesses. The pink one must be the older one, Mileena…which meant the blue one must be Kitana. As you recalled their names, your brain seemed to buzz, the dull pain strengthening temporarily in intensity. It was as if memories were fighting to rise to the surface. You definitely knew these two before.
“Lord Liu Kang, welcome.” Mileena spoke, nodding her head. A cordial smile was placed on her lips, and her eyes seemed to assess the group in front of her. Her sister also seemed to scan the crowd, though a polite smile did not reach her lips. Instead, an analytical look was on hers. You assumed she was already trying to find who it was that was to fight Outworld’s champions.
“Thank you, Princess Mileena.” Liu Kang said, a warm smile on his lips. You watched as the guard that had been by the side strode over to be closer to the princesses. You concentrated on the princesses’ faces, trying to see if trying to force any memories would help clear your head. It didn’t. If anything, it just increased the pressure of the pain, so you stopped trying to do it.
“You remember my sister?” Mileena inquired. She leaned back, looking over to Kitana who looked back at her in acknowledgement.
“Of course.” Liu Kang replied. He then bowed once more. “Princess Kitana.” The other princess acknowledged his courtesy with a nod of her own. “May I introduce my companion,” The fire god spoke your name, and you bowed slightly, showing the same respect as Liu Kang did. “Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, Kenshi Takahashi, and Earthrealm’s champion, Raiden.”
“I hope you’re prepared, Raiden.” Kitana spoke this time. An air of confidence filled her voice as she scrutinized your student. “Our champions are determined to win.” She said, her gaze falling upon her sister. You knew very well that Mileena was supposed to be one of the champions, as told to you by Liu Kang. Liu Kang had put himself in charge of preparing the champion, since you’ve never seen the fighting prowess of the Outworlders yourself.
“None more so than me.” The older twin said, self assuredness in her tone. Her gaze was steady, almost as if trying to intimidate Raiden with it alone. “It’s been too long since we’ve known victory.” She reminded the group, and you could tell she was determined to be the one to reclaim it.
“Princess Mileena.” The guard you saw from earlier spoke up. There was a hint of urgency within her tone as she spoke. She had gone up the steps to get closer to the princess. “We should be on our way, Empress Sindel awaits.”
“Thank you, Tanya.” Mileena replied. The name Tanya struck a chord in you. That was definitely familiar as well. You couldn’t tell if it was a blessing or a curse that you would be in such close proximity with people you supposedly knew before. “Follow me, please.”
You all followed the trio of women, walking down a hall that was flanked by guards. Mileena was leading the group. At the end, a line of royal carriages awaited. You soon found yourselves been split up into small groups to ride the carriages. You were in the first group, along with Liu Kang, Raiden, and Mileena. The guard from earlier, Tanya, took the reins.
As the others slipped in, you considered where to sit. It wasn’t until the princess graciously gestured to the spot next to her that you allowed yourself to sit next to her. You didn’t want to be rude and assume, but you were grateful she didn’t seem to mind. You sat across from Raiden, with Liu Kang diagonally from you.
As soon as everyone boarded their carriages, the carriage line set off. It was preceded by a joyous Shokan who played the drums. It was quite nice to see a man so enthusiastic over his job. The other guards, the Umgadi you recalled, flanked the carriages as you set off. You watched with amazement as you passed through Sun Do. It was colorful and alive, and you awkwardly smiled and at the people who gazed at you from the streets. You weren’t used to being marveled like this.
The people on the streets were dressed up in bright garb, and vendors were going around trying to take advantage of the festivities and trying to sell more of their wares. You even spotted some Outworlders cheering as they toasted their mugs together.
“Those are Centaurians.” Raiden said, the wonder clear in his voice. Raiden also had excitement on his face, though you supposed it was due to the novelty of it all. He did not share the same feelings as you did at that moment. “And Shokan!”A wide grin spread across his face, and it was all too easy to match his. His energy was contagious.
“The six armed being as Naknadans.” Mileena informed, looking over the crowd. You wondered for a moment if she was simply informing him, or if the man, in his enthusiasm, had mixed up the Outworld races.
“The monks described them. But seeing them in person…” Raiden said, returning his gaze to Mileena to acknowledge her words towards him. He was unable to keep his attention on her for long, as he returned his attention back to the crowd soon enough.
“I see Her Majesty once again spares no expense on the festival.” Liu Kang remarks, having observed the colorful atmosphere in silence. You raised your eyebrows, now wondering how the city looked without all the festivities. Was it just as beautiful? Either way, it was certainly an upgrade from what you remembered previously.
“Should she not?” Mileena replied, and you looked over. She had an almost offended look on her face, which caught you off guard. “It commemorates my late father.” She said, and you took note of that. You remembered how Liu Kang had told you about the brief history of the royal family, including the unfortunate death of King Jerrod.
“I think it is a wonderful celebration in memory of him.” You spoke up, your gaze landing on the decorations that were among the people and buildings. You voice carried the admiration you held for the beauty of it all. “Her Majesty made the capital look so wonderful, it must be an excellent reflection of your father.” You felt the princess’ gaze land on you, and you turned to send her a friendly smile.
Whistles were blown, and you turned to look over your shoulder to gaze at whatever was causing it. You saw a woman standing in the street, in the way of the procession. It seemed she was leading other guards, who were notably dressed differently than the Umgadi. You watched as those people led off a few people who seemed to be handcuffed. Your eyebrows furrowed. Not at the sight, but at the slight haze you felt upon seeing her, too.
You wondered if you were bound to recognize a person every few minutes in this place.
Mileena knocked on the carriage frame, which prompted Tanya to stop the animals from continuing on. The princess whispered a small “excuse me” as she walked past you and Raiden, and hopped off the carriage. She strode over to the woman with what you assumed was thinly veiled frustration.
You couldn’t hear the conversation well, but you did overhear that she called the woman the first constable. You put two and two together that this must be the police force of Sun Do. She seemed to express anger towards the failed job of clearing the street. Then, the conversation was spoken in words too quiet for you to overhear. You turned back in your seat, to make it seem like you weren’t listening in on that conversation.
“Princess Mileena doesn’t seem to like her very much.” Raiden observed, his gaze on the two women. You nodded. Fromwhat Liu Kang had taught you, you already had put together why they had some sort of conflict, aside from the obvious hold up.
“Li Mei used to lead the Umgadi, the palace guard.” Liu Kang informed the champion, catching him up to speed. His glowing gaze drifted over to look at him. “It was on her watch that the Princesses’ father was murdered.” As the information settled in, the tension in the carriage rose. Soon enough, Mileena rejoined the group, though a bit more peeved.
Thankfully, the rest of the ride was peaceful and without any further hold ups. The tension dissipated as you watched the city fade away, and the palace came into view. The carriages stopped at the entrance, and you soon found yourselves being ushered away by the Umgadi into the palace. The princesses had disappeared in the midst, and you assumed they were simply getting ready for the upcoming event.
As you found yourself standing in the Great Hall of the palace, you stood next to Liu Kang, your students in front of you. Raiden was the one who was directly in front of Liu Kang, and you could tell his nerves were getting to him. His arms were crossed as his head tilted down, his hat concealing the stress that was obvious on his face.
“Worry expends energy for no reason, Raiden.” Liu Kang reminded him.
“But the tournament.” Raiden pointed out. Worry creased his brow, and you could sympathize with the burden he must feel being the only representative for Earthrealm within this tournament. His arms uncrossed as he stepped closer, looking at the fire god. “If I lose…”
“Just remember your training, Raiden.” You cut in, recognizing the signs of a spiraling mind. You gave him a smile, and Liu Kang did as well. “I told you already, you have the ability to win this tournament.” You reminded him of your words earlier. “As long as you focus on yourself, you will do fine. Worrying over a future that hasn’t happened yet will do you no good.”
Raiden looked at you, trying to soak in your words. His furrowed brow relaxed, and he tried to reciprocate the smile. It was a weak and weary one, but it was better than nothing. He seemed to be more confident now because of your words, even if it was just by a little bit.
The sounds of armor and the crowd whispers caught your attention. You looked over to see a horned man enter the hall. Your eyes met, and your eyes widened. It felt like the world was slowing down to a halt. Your heart thumped loudly in your chest, so loud you could practically hear the blood rushing in your ears.
Shao Khan.
Your body froze, and it was like the amulet all over again. The world around you swirled and faded, and you found yourself now atop a rooftop. The sky was hazy with a mixture of clouds and smog from the destruction of the world around you. Distantly, other buildings were set on fire. THo0se that weren’t seemed to be destroyed.
This was the end of all things.
You were on your knees, cradling yet another body in your hands. The smell of it all was terrible. The first thing you smelled was burnt flesh. It was sickening and made your stomach turn and twist. Then, you smelt ash from the fires all around you. You didn’t dare look down, your hands trembling as they felt burnt and scarred skin. That must be the main source of the burnt flesh smell.
To your left, you recognized hazily, Johnny Cage. He looked different, but you could recognize him all the same. To your right, you saw a woman whose name you only vaguely recalled as Sonya Blade. She was an ally? Surely she must be. Ahead of you, you could see Raiden in his thunder god form standing before the man whose name rang in your head.
Shao Khan.
Your head was pounding. All you knew was the massive destruction around you was because of the man. How it came to be, you couldn’t recall. All you knew was that it was because of him. Hate filled you, and you grit your teeth. Grief for things you didn’t quite remember clawed at your heart. You almost clenched your hands into fists, but then you remembered the body in your lap. Instinctively, you looked down. You wished you hadn’t the moment you did.
Liu Kang?
A wave of nausea filled you as you recognized the scarred and burnt body of the man in your lap. Thin scars trailed upwards his body, accompanied with gruesome burnt scars. One eye had even turned white from his injuries. Your stomach turned as you looked into his one good eye, and you realized with horror that it was already glazed over.
Death had already claimed the man.
“No.” You said, your voice quivering as you stared down at the man. Tears began to blur your vision, and your heart raced. How could this happen? This had to be a dream, an illusion. Anything but real. In your shock, you tried to shake him, hoping somehow he would wake up. All you felt was his warmth quickly fading away from you.
The voice in your head screamed. You’ve lost too many! But who had you lost? Looking down at the deceased in your lap, you wondered how many you’ve had lay dying in your arms. Did it matter how many had died?
You didn’t know. All you knew is that you were filled with a burning hatred for whoever did…this.
“You monster!” You cried out, standing up after you had carefully set down Liu Kang’s body onto the ground. You couldn’t recall who had done this, but you could only assume that Shao Khan had to be responsible.
Raiden turned back, shock on his face at your scream filled with pure vitriol. As you charged towards Shao Khan, hate fueling your body. you saw the thunder god trying to stop you. You ignored him. You would not let the thunder god prevent you from avenging those you have lost in this ceaseless war.
You leapt, claws outstretched as your teeth bared as a lion. Shao Khan merely chuckled at your attempt to lash out at him. You grunted as the man easily sent you flying back with his sorcery. As you fell, you transformed back into your human form. You tumbled onto the rooftop, hazily seeing Johnny and Sonya also being flung back as well. They landed near you.
You were powerless as you watched Raiden confront the tyrant. Was this the end?
“Red alert.” Johnny muttered behind you, snapping you out of your vision. You blinked, trying to ground yourself in the real world. You didn’t get a conclusion to the vision you saw, and you weren’t sure if you wanted to. What a horrible vision you had received. And yet, curiosity was clawing at you, what had happened? “Incoming stock villain.”
Was that the last thing you saw before you died and came into this life? Or was there more to the story?
“General Shao.” Liu Kang said, and you looked over at him. You felt a wave of relief as you looked at the fire god, knowing he was alive and not dead like you had seen. Still, the image was seared into your head. How cruel it was that the fire god had glowing white eyes, reminding you of the one white eye he had during his death. “Do not let him goad you.” Earthrealm’s protector advised Raiden, looking over to him. Then, he turned his eyes to look at you. His gaze turned perplexed as they did so.
You swallowed, quickly sending the fire god a smile. You must have left the look of worry lingering on your face far too long. That seemed to temporarily satisfy him as he turned his attention to General Shao, but the lingering stare he left on you left you knowing he would ask later.
With heavy footsteps, the man who your brain was screaming to maul approached. His eyes glanced over to you, an eyebrow raised before they stared back at Raiden. You were certain from that expression you were failing to hide the sudden hate you felt towards him. A mocking smile appeared on his face as he assessed the man. A condescending laugh left his lips.
“Hah, this is Earthrealm’s champion?” General Shao commented with a sneer. “I nearly thought it was that one.” He remarked, pointing a finger in your direction. You blinked in surprise at the comment. “That stare had resolve and determination to best me the moment I stepped in. Disappointingly, it appears you’re the champion.” His lip curled with delight. “So scrawny.”
“Would you care to test his strength!?” Kung Lao challenged Shao for his friend. He stepped forward with indignation. You leaned over with wide eyes and sent him a glare. You had to admit, you were holding yourself back from leaping at the general yourself, but for different reasons. This was neither of your guys’ battle to fight, though. “Raiden will-” Thankfully, Liu Kang stepped in to intervene.
“Will prove himself well enough.” Liu Kang spoke, finishing Kung Lao’s sentence for him. His hand hovered in front of Kung Lao’s chest to prevent him from stepping any closer. He stepped in between the champion and the general, acting like a barrier between the two realms. His gaze was unwavering in the face of the man.
“Have you still not told most Earthrealmers that Outworld exists?” General Shao inquired, his voice deep and gravely. His face held a look of judgement as he regarded the god. He was already looking down at him physically, and from the tone of his voice, it was more than just that.
“It is safer that way, General.” Liu Kang responded simply, not giving into his attempts to frustrate him.
“I suppose so.” General Shao said. He then took a step closer, trying to intimate Liu Kang, He leaned down, a belittling tone in his voice. “Your people’s frail minds couldn’t handle the truth.” You realized suddenly, that your hands were balled into fists. Crescent moon marks would be left permanently on the inside of your palm at this rate. You forced your hands to relax, and folded them behind your back. You held back a scoff at this poor attempt of intimidation.
“You presume them frail, General?” Liu Kang challenged. He raised his eyebrows at the Outworlder’s cocky attitude. “Should you…given how frequently they win this tournament?” The fire god pointed out, and you could tell he hit a nerve. The tension grew thicker, and it was as if you could cut it with a knife.
“We will destroy your champion, Liu Kang.” General Shao promised, his resolve showing through his voice. You could sense the hatred he felt for the god, not even bothering to use the honorific for him. He shook his head, his orange eyes boring into the demigod. “He shall taste no victory.”
Then he stormed off.
Minutes passed by, and more people filled the room. It was crowded. You offered light conversation to a random Edenian woman to be polite as you waited. You learned how excited she was to finally be able to watch the tournament in person, a sentiment you both shared. She was new to serving the throne, so this would be her first time. Although cautious, she even asked about Earthrealm, something you were glad to tell about.
Soon enough, you heard footsteps walking down from the hall, and the conversations began to cease. You sent an apologetic smile to your conversation partner that your conversation was cut short. You turned your attention to the trio of women who now entered the room.
Leading them was the woman who you presumed was Empress Sindel, the princesses following close behind. Your mind buzzed at the sight of her, and you began to wonder once more how many important people you once knew in your past life. Surely, it was not a coincidence you recognized many who seemed to be important in this life.
Who…were you?
The trio took confident strides, holding an air of regalness around them. You stood next to Raiden and Johnny, watching them walk through the hall towards their thrones. They walked up to their thrones before seating themselves comfortably, almost seeming to bask in the high regard that everyone held them in.
“Welcome, members of the royal house.” Sindel began to address the crowd, her gaze sweeping across the room. Her voice held authority, yet it also had a sense of warmth within it. “Welcome, our esteemed Earthrealm guests.” She said, nodding her head in the direction of your group. “We gather once again to honor my late husband’s legacy. To continue the tournament that he founded with Lord Liu Kang in hopes it would foster peace among the realms.”
A pained and sorrowful expression appeared on Sindel’s face, and you had sympathy for her. Losing someone close to you…while you did not experience it in this life, the memories that began to terrorize you reminded you of how heavy that loss can feel. You couldn’t imagine how much worse it must feel since the one she lost was her husband.
“May Jerrod’s soul watch over us with pride from its resting place in the Living Forest.” Your brain recognized the place, though last you recalled it was much more sinister. You wondered how it was now. A moment of silence was given in respect for the late King. “Lord Liu Kang.” Sindel addressed the god, who had walked over to the Empress. He stood at the bottom of the steps, looking up to her from her place on the throne.
“Empress Sindel.” Liu Kang replied, a smile on his face. “It pleases me once again to be your guest.” He bowed to the Empress, showing his respect for the ruler. Despite being a god, you admired how humble he was.
“Here, you are always welcome.” Sindel replied, her hands spreading out in a friendly gesture. The fire god lifted himself up to look at her once more. Crossing her leg, she leaned forward in interest. “Now, let us meet your champion.”
“Earthrealm’s champion is Raiden, Your Majesty.” Liu Kang introduced. You looked over to said man who remained rooted to the spot. You placed a gentle hand on his back to push him forward, having a feeling he was too stunned by his nerves. He felt stiff when you pushed him. “He has earned his place by embodying the very best qualities of Earthrealm’s people.”
“You seem nervous, young man.” Sindel observed, her eyes searching the younger man.
“I’m a stranger in an unfamiliar land.” Raiden said. “Here to compete against its greatest fighters. Yes, I am nervous.” He admitted with a nod of his head. You had to admit, even if it was foolish to admit weakness against these people, his honesty still made you smile. It was just part of his charm.
Never change, Raiden.
“As you should be.” The Empress acknowledged, though her tone was not condescending. If anything, it had a hint of encouragement behind it. “You have a difficult path ahead.” She stood up, and spread her hands out in a grand gesture. “It has begun!”
Those words felt so familiar to you. Has…this been the first tournament you’ve been to?
“As tradition requires, Outworld’s initial competitor will be Sun Do’s first constable.” Sindel announced. You looked over, hearing the sound of heels clack down the hallway. You recognized the woman approaching. It was the same person that Mileena had been admonishing. “Li Mei.” A determined look was on the woman’s face, contrasting the uncertain one Raiden whenever the tournament was brought up.
You glanced over to Raiden, trying to assess his reaction. It was as you expected. He still had that look of doubt and nervousness on his face. Yet, at the same time, you could see that same determination shining in his eyes.
“May she defend our realm’s glory as well as she preserves our capital’s order.” Sindel continued to speak, right until the first constable stopped right in front of the Empress’ throne at the bottom of the steps.
“Your Majesty.” Li Mei said, looking up to the ruler. She stood up straight and ready, and you could see the training she must have gone through as both an officer and an Umgadi in her stance alone. “I will honor both the royal house, and all of Outworld, with my kombat.” The officer announced, saluting the woman. A bold claim. Sindel descended the steps, placing a hand on the other woman’s shoulder.
Their conversation was too hushed for you to listen in. Well, you could listen in if you wanted to, but you figured it would be rude to do so. You also knew it would be very, very obvious if you transformed your ears to do so as well. But from your position alone, you could see hints of resentment within the Empress’ expression, barely visible under the guise of her veiled pleasantries.
You felt…pity for Li Mei.
“All you need do is your best.” Liu Kang told Raiden. He placed a hand on his shoulder as he regarded the champion. “The rest will take care of itself.” You placed a hand on Raiden’s bicep, looking at him warmly as you nodded.
“He’s right. You being here and having the courage to fight for Earthrealm makes me, and I’m certain Liu Kang as well, proud enough.” You encouraged him, squeezing his arm. Raiden sent you a smile as well. You could see how he was strengthening his resolve for his upcoming fight.
“Yes, thank you both.” Raiden replied, nodding. His gaze switched between both you and the fire god. But as you retreated with Liu Kang, you felt the champion’s gaze linger on you for just a few moments longer.
“Shall we see what you can do?” Li Mei challenged. She seemed more angry now, as if her determination had now been switched out with anger for the man. This made you wonder just what the Empress had said to her during their hushed moment. You clasped your hands together, staring at the duo as they conversed before their fight.
“Hopefully, this will be the first of many victories.” Raiden replied, his tone polite and respectful. You sighed. You knew it was part of his charm, but he seriously needed a lesson in verbally defending himself better.
“I will prevail, Earthrealmer.” Li Mei declared. Her eyes narrowed at her opponent. “This fight is more important to me than you will ever know.”
The fight began. It was intense. While Raiden was trained well, courtesy of you, the monks, and Liu Kang, you weren’t certain how he would fare against the Outworlders. After all, you knew they had much longer life spans than Earthrealmers, which meant they had more experience than what he could ever have.
Li Mei displayed great combat prowess. You could see how disciplined her technique was from the way she moved. She was relentless. She treated Raiden as if he were a threat, which he was. She did not dare underestimate her opponent.
Raiden, however, kept his calm. You watched as he showcased his newfound electric abilities. It was honestly a bit mesmerizing to watch, and you were immensely impressed by how fast he had mastered the new powers. It was as if he had them since birth, and you would have assumed so had you not been there to witness when he first got his powers. You just wished it came from anything else than that cursed amulet.
Still, despite the vigor that Li Mei had shown, Raiden was still able to best her.
“Thank you for the match, first constable.” Raiden thanked his opponent humbly. With grace, Li Mei stood up. You couldn’t ignore the despondent look on her face. She looked at the young man for a moment. Then, she bowed and then took her leave. You watched her walk off, and couldn’t help but to feel bad for her. The crowd began murmuring as she left.
“My compliments, Raiden, on a well fought match.” Sindel commended the Earthrealm champion. She then stood up, addressing the crowd. “We are adjourned until first light, I hope to see you all at this evening’s banquet.” She announced to everyone, then everyone dispersed.
“Congratulations Raiden.” You said, walking over to the champion. You watched as his eyes seemed to light up at your praise. You pat his shoulder, shaking it just a bit. “Keep it up, and I might just have to reward you when we get back to Earthrealm.” You said, half joking. And yet, the man looked at you with surprise, and there was just a bit of color on his cheeks.
“Really?” He inquired with a hint of surprise in his voice. He blinked as you nodded, thinking of what type of food to make the man. Perhaps a dessert this time? Victory did taste sweet after all. As the others came to congratulate their peer, you backed off to stand next to Liu Kang. You didn’t want to crowd the man.
“I could see your training techniques shining through.” Liu Kang said, looking over to you as he also let the others converse with Raiden. You looked at him, basking momentarily in the praise he was giving to you. Sure, nowadays the praise you received from the god was not rare, but it was delightful to receive all the same. “I could have not chosen anyone better to train him.”
“You’re too sweet.” You reply, feeling bashful at the praise. You looked downwards, before looking back at the small group. “I must admit, I’m surprised with how quickly he adapted to using that amulet.” You said, recalling briefly how he even used techniques the old Raiden had displayed. “You must have taught him well.”
“I merely guided him.” The fire god admitted, his gaze also on the champion. “In truth, it was he who had discovered those techniques himself.” He paused, his hands folding in front of him. “It was almost…natural for him.” There was a tone in his voice…nostalgia? You eyed him, not knowing what to make of the way he spoke.
Did he know more than he was letting on?
“I see.” You replied, uncertain of how to properly respond. Suddenly, you felt like you were hit with a wave of nausea. You stumbled forward, gripping your head. Liu Kang reached out, grabbing your arm to steady you. The throbbing in your head had intensified.
“Are you alright?” Liu Kang inquired, his voice dripping with concern. His eyes searched you, trying to see what was wrong. Wearily, you nodded your head. You swallowed, trying to will away the pain. You closed your eyes as you steadied yourself. He leaned in close, his voice dropping to a whisper. “Are you receiving visions again?”
“I’m fine.” You manage to get out, dancing around the question. “I…I just need some air. I’ll meet you at the banquet tonight.” You told him quickly, not certain what had suddenly befallen you. You hadn’t received any visions this time, just pain. You let out another hiss of pain. For a moment, you felt Liu Kang’s grip tighten, as if he wasn’t sure it was the right decision. Then, his hand let go of you.
“Take care of yourself.”
You nodded, quickly walking off in a direction, just wanting to get outside. You didn’t notice the eyes that fell on your retreating form. The hallways echoed with your footsteps, and you concentrated on the ground ahead, trying to retrace your steps to the front of the palace. You tried your best to ignore the Umgadi who seemed to stare at you curiously. They didn’t interfere though, seeing as you were just walking towards the outside. As you were met with the grand doors, you let out a sigh of relief as you quickly walked outside.
The fresh air was much needed. The intense pain in your head settled down. It was even more bearable than before, which was a much needed relief. Maybe being in there or witnessing all that had caused your head to be overwhelmed. You couldn’t tell, it was all too confusing. You walked forward and sighed, leaning on a railing that overlooked the city in the distance.
It was nice and peaceful out here.
“Ahem.” Jumping slightly, you looked over to the right and saw Li Mei standing out there. She looked awkwardly away, bowing her head as you looked at her. You had not even noticed her there. You looked at her, noting the puffy eyes and the tear stains on her face that you were able to barely see from her nearly hidden face.
Oh. You had interrupted a private moment.
You felt your face flush from embarrassment as you opened your mouth, not knowing how to respond. Unhelpfully, your mind finally granted you a brief memory of the woman before you. You remembered being friends, bonding over lost villages. You vaguely remembered a refugee camp. Well, none of that had been helpful to you in your current situation.
“I…um…sorry.” You managed to get out, turning your gaze away. Silence settled between you two, but it was far from the comfortable type that you were used to. Unable to bear the awkwardness, you spoke up again. “You fought well back there. I almost thought you would have won.” You admitted, fidgeting with your fingers.
“Thank you.” Li Mei said quietly, her voice hoarse. There was a tone to her voice which told you that your words did little to comfort her. She did lose still, after all. There was a moment where you heard her sniffles. Awkwardly, you searched your pockets, before you found a small packet of tissues. Good thing you carried those around with your medical pack. You held it out to her, who looked at it curiously before taking it. “Thank you…again.” She muttered, before using it. You nodded.
“No problem.” You said, the tension easing just a bit. “I’m not lying when I commend your fighting skills, you know.” You continued, your gaze dropping to look down at the waterfalls that decorated the palace. For a moment, you considered turning into a fish and swimming away to avoid this awkward conversation. You couldn’t just…leave her though.
“It wasn’t enough, though.” Li Mei responded, a hint of bitterness in her tone. She did seem to feel better despite this.
“I think that’s okay.” You say, shrugging. You realized what your words sounded like, and scrambled to clarify what you meant. “I mean that you did your best! And I think that’s commendable! It’s very much okay to be upset though!” You said, and you felt guilty as you watched the police officer just awkwardly nod. “Sorry, I’m not exactly the best at comforting people. I didn’t mean to interrupt your private moment either.”
“It’s alright.” The first constable said, her voice softer now as she fiddles with the rest of the packet of tissues in her hands. “I had been a wreck.” She admitted. She kicked her boot into the ground. “I don’t even know why I told you that, in all honesty. You’re a stranger.”
“Sometimes it’s nice to get things off your chest.” You offered an explanation, shrugging. “I don’t mind listening.”
“Are all Earthrealmers so trusting?” Li Mei inquired, changing the subject. You had a feeling she was not too trusting of you, which you figured was fair. Her stare lingered on you, a suspicious look on her face. You let out a small laugh.
“Not all, but there are certainly a lot of us who are.” You admitted. You looked over to the woman, nodding your head. “Sorry to intrude on your time, keep the tissues.” You apologized, bowing your head. You walked off, giving her one last final wave. You probably were making the situation worse by sticking around. “It was nice meeting you though, first constable.”
“It was nice meeting you too.”
You didn’t meet up with the others until later, taking the time to try and rest. Being away from people helped your headaches. You had found your room, which the Empress had so graciously allowed you and the others to have. Your room was quite quaint, and from your knowledge, it was fairly close to the hanging gardens, a place that had caught your eye.
Maybe you could take a walk around there later.
As you exited your room, you found yourself a bit lost, not knowing where to go exactly. Was the banquet to be at the hanging gardens? You vaguely recalled someone telling you that during the ride over, but your memory was failing you. You stood outside your door, deep in thought. You hardly noticed the footsteps heading your way.
“Lost?” A voice inquired. You looked up and noticed princess Kitana walking towards you. You blinked, surprised upon seeing the royal. You stared at her, feeling a memory pop up. She had a similar role in the past life. A princess trained in combat. There were a few more memories attempting to break through, but your head couldn’t make sense of it quite yet. You quickly realized that you had been staring. You bowed to her out of respect, which seemed to please her.
“If you’re lost, I can guide you to the royal banquet, if you wish.” The princess offered to you, a cordial smile upon her lips as she seemed to analyze you.
“That’d be appreciated, princess.” You said, accepting her offer. You followed her steps, matching her pace. She seemed a bit more friendly, than when you saw her earlier, even if it was just by a tiny bit. The hallways were filled with the echoes of your footsteps. You didn’t mind the silence, trying to dwell on the nagging feeling that you had. Why had you felt like you had seen her in your memories recently?
“Have you enjoyed your stay in Outworld so far?” Kitana inquired, peering over to you. You blinked, losing your train of thought. You hadn’t been expecting her to try and converse with you. You couldn’t tell if she was simply being polite or was actually interested in your thoughts. You just hoped it was the latter.
“I have, your realm is fascinating.” You admitted, reflecting on what you had seen so far. You were glad it was nothing like your memories. “It’s very pretty here. Where I come from, we don’t have sights like this.” You said, referring to both the life you currently lived and the one you remembered. “I’m fortunate to be able to witness this.”
“Indeed.” Kitana nodded. “Not many Earthrealmers get to witness the beauty of Outworld, much less in their prime.” You were momentarily puzzled by what she meant, then remembered that most perceived you as merely an Earthrealmer. You silently wondered if there were others like you out there, others who originated from other realms. You supposed not.
“It is a blessing.” You said, deciding to play along. Best not to raise any unwanted attention to your strange status. “Have you participated in many tournaments yourself?” You inquired, not knowing just how old the princess was. You assumed thousands of years, but just how many was something you weren’t quite sure of.
“Oh, I have participated in plenty.” The princess admitted nearly laughing at the idea. Which in all honesty, didn’t really give you any indicators to her age. She peered over to you, a thoughtful look on her face. “You are known as Lord Liu Kang’s companion, correct?” She inquired, tilting her head in your direction. You nodded, not sure where she was going with this. “What qualifies you to have such a high position?”
“Ah.” You said, realizing that many didn’t get the privilege of being called such a title. You weren’t sure if there even was someone who came before you who had the same title. You weren’t sure how to explain it, many didn’t question the title since it would be akin to questioning a god…but Outworlders were a bit more bold. “I’m not quite sure myself.” You lied. “I just help him with duties and training the champions.”
“I see.” Kitana said, though you could hear the curiosity in her tone. It was the type of curiosity which was not so easily quenched. “So you trained Raiden?” She inquired, her eyebrows raised. You nodded, and she seemed a bit surprised. “You two must be close.” She commented, which made you hum in thought. You nodded as you came to that conclusion as well.
“I guess we are.”
“We’re here.” She announced, and you found yourself outside where the Hanging Gardens must be. It looked wonderful at night and decorated. Not to mention, the smell of the food in the air was simply divine. She looked at you again, an amused smile on her lips. “You’re interesting, I would not mind talking to you again. Enjoy the feast.”
“You too!” You called out, feeling honored. You stared after her, your mind pulsing as it tried to remember desperately what role she had in your past life. You walked around the area, marveling at how the plants glowed in the cooler colors of the rainbow. You found yourself peering at the tables and found there were particular seating assignments. It didn’t take long for you to find your seat, and luckily you were one of the first there.
You were to be seated between Johnny and a person named Rain. You stared at the name, a faint recollection returning to you. The name was certainly familiar. The people to be across from you were Raiden and Liu Kang. You’d at least be among familiar faces. That, and you didn’t seem to be seated close to General Shao at all.
That was a relief.
Soon, people began to emerge from the palace and fill the area. The pressure in your head started up again, and you silently grieved over how you would not be able to enjoy this meal without at least a little bit of pain. With how strong the pressure was, you assume you would not be able to glean any new memories either. Still, you did not complain and sat down as the food was served.
Plates of delicacies were set before you, and as you peered at the cooked meat, you wondered if these creatures were the same ones as on Earthrealm. If there weren’t, you wondered if you could transform into it. When wine was brought about, you declined it. You were against the idea of becoming drunk, fearing your deepest secrets would spill from your very own lips.
You were not giving yourself the chance to sabotage the good things you had. So instead, you got some simple fruit juice.
You mostly indulged in the food presented to you, enjoying the difference in tastes. Mentally, you wondered if you could recreate these back at home. Now that would be something you could surprise Madam Bo with. You did listen in to the others conversations, but the one who you surprisingly ended up talking to the most was the man beside you.
“The Imperial Academy sounds wonderful!” You remarked, marveling at the story that Rain had indulged you in. He was much more friendly than you were expecting. When he had introduced himself as the high mage, you were intrigued immediately. You asked him about how he earned the title, and he informed you of his accomplishments. He seemed proud of his achievements.
“It is indeed.” He said, smiling your way. He nodded as he took a sip of the wine. “And you say Earthrealm has no schools of magic?” He inquired, an eyebrow raised at the words you had told him before. You nodded, chewing a piece of food.
“It doesn’t.” You confirmed, slicing the food on your plate to prepare another bite. “Magic is pretty foreign to our realm. It’s either a rare secret that is passed down through families, you are born with it, or you receive power from another object.” You explained, recalling the different ways that you knew people had received their special abilities. “I’m amazed magic is taught here.”
“I pity the fact that your realm doesn’t have the same privilege as our realm does.” He used your hands, eyebrows raising. “You mentioned your people rarely have magic.” You nodded, confirming what he heard. “Are you also magicless? Or are you part of the fortunate few to be blessed with those abilities?”
“I was fortunate to have those abilities.” You confirmed. Setting down your silverware, you held out your hand and transformed it into a bear’s claw. Rain’s eyes widened with fascination, and you felt proud of your little display of sorcery. “I was blessed to be born with animal shape shifting. I can transform parts, or all of my body at will to any animal I wish.”
“Fascinating. And you have not studied these abilities formally?” The high mage remarked, eyeing the transformed limb before you turned it back. “Your abilities remind me of another sorcerer in the royal court.” He said, piquing your interest. “He is busy with some duties, but I believe it would be of interest if you spoke with him.” He paused, looking at you once more. “Assuming you strive to learn about the limits of what you can do.”
“I am always looking to grow stronger.” You admit, and it seemed that something in your words struck a chord with the mage. His smile grew as he leaned towards you just a tiny bit more. “I wouldn’t mind conversing with this other sorcerer if he has similar abilities.” You say, nodding, taking note of the tip that he had given you. “What is his name?”
“His name is-” Rain began, but the conversation was cut short as he turned his attention to the front. You also turned to look, and noticed Empress Sindel had risen, holding her goblet in one hand. All of the conversations came to a halt as you watched the empress begin to give a speech.
“My husband Jerrod believed that the future of our realms lay together.” Sindel called out, a smile gracing her lips. Her attention traveled across the crowd. “Let us move forward in open dialogue, letting no secrets tear our bonds asunder.” You watched as everyone began to rise. Grabbing your own glass, you stood as well, raising it out.
“Your highness.” Raiden spoke suddenly, surprising you. “It’s an honor to be here and meet your people.” He looked around, his eyes landing on even the general who had shown him contempt earlier. “I can see there’s more here that joins us than divides us.” Despite the disapproving stare that you could see Shao was sending the champion, he only let out a small scoff.
Your distrust of the man grew, but at least he didn’t make an uproar.
“Well said, young man.” Sindel said, nodding in agreement to the little speech that Raiden had given out. Her smile grew as she lifted her goblet. “Now, let us enjoy the rest of the tournament together, in harmony, just as my husband would have wished.” With that, she lifted the cup to her lips and drank merrily.
With a cheer, everyone followed suit, taking a drink as their empress did. The rest of the feast ended quite well, with little to no issues as far as you were concerned. You had even conversed more with Rain, learning more about the magic culture that Outworld had been blessed with. He even offered to talk more another time, seeing your enthusiasm.
It wasn’t until you were in your room later that you realized that you had forgotten to ask what the sorcerer’s name was.
You couldn’t sleep.
That was to be expected. You always had trouble sleeping. Not to mention the fact that you were in an unfamiliar realm. Not to mention, when you tried to close your eyes, you could only see the lifeless body of Liu Kang. Your body was restless, and you paced back and forth in your room. You didn’t have a window here, the darkness only being abated by a simple crystal lamp.
You bit your lip as you tried to process all you had seen. You knew you definitely had a history with many people in Outworld. That was undeniable. Your memories only occurred when you encountered people you had at least known and talked to. It would be hard to try and figure out what your connection to all of them were though, since you would either have to stay around here for a prolonged period of time, or have private moments with them.
Somehow, you were more likely to encounter the latter, seeing how your time here was limited.
You sighed as you recalled the chilling vision of the general. Obviously, he had been some sort of villain previously. But was that still true? Your previous memories with Bi-Han had also been unpleasant. Maybe Shao was just an asshole? You weren’t certain, you hadn’t seen enough of him. But then again, you weren’t sure if you wanted to see any more of him.
With a sigh, you soon found your hand hovering over the handle of your door. Would it be weird to go and see if you could explore the palace? You figured that it would be considered off, and maybe even suspicious. They’d surely accuse you of trying to try and steal something. Maybe you could just explore the gardens. It’s not as if you could steal anything there.
That, and you weren’t sure if you could stand being in this room anymore.
You exited the room, slinking quietly into the hall. You masked the sounds of your footfalls, remaining quiet as possible to try and not disturb the others around. Sure you were restless, but you did not want to wake the others from your own energy.
“Where are you going?” A voice inquired, seeing you come down the hall. You walked closer, squinting to make out the figure. Ah, it was Tanya.
“I just walked to go on a walk.” You explained, hands up. “I’m rather restless, and the time difference between here and Earthrealm is great.” You gestured to the hall where you recollected the hanging gardens were. “I understand that it is late, but I merely wish to tour the hanging gardens, it looks beautiful at night.”
“Is that all?” Tanya inquired, assessing you with a hardened stare. You nodded, not minding how she glared at you. You knew she was only doing her job. She circled you, her gaze akin to a hawk. “Fine. I’ll escort you there.” She said, her tone cautious. You smiled gratefully at her for her generosity.
The walk there was silent, and unlike Princess Kitana, she offered no dialogue. Still, despite your gaze forward, you knew she was watching you closely. You didn’t mind, just wanting to go to the gardens. A memory began to surface, and you remembered a much different woman. One who sought to reclaim the glory of Edenia, a land that was once lost. How different she seemed now. Your mind did not buzz as much after, so you assumed you did not know her that much in the previous life.
“I’ll be here to make sure you don’t try to sneak in.” Tanya informed you once you two arrived, being transparent with her intentions. Her gaze narrowed as she scanned you up and down. “Do not try anything, Earthrealmer.” She warned.
“I promise I will not.” You said sincerely. Her gaze did not waver, but she did nod approvingly before turning away, letting you roam the gardens.
It was as breathtaking as before. The night sky was tinged with a hint of purple, and the night sky was so clear, letting the stars shine down on you. You briefly wondered if those same stars were the ones that those in Earthrealm would see.
Were Tomas, Bi-Han, and Kuai Liang looking at the stars too, wondering how you were?
The plants around the area flourished with life, and the smell was simply divine. You still couldn’t get over how they had a natural glow. You were tempted to reach out and touch the flora, captivated with their looks. You figured that was rather rude though, so you held back. You did allow yourself to lean in and smell the flowers.
In the midst of your fascination, you did not look ahead, and soon found yourself bumping into a figure.
“Sorry!” You instinctively apologized as you backed up. You shook your head to see princess Mileena. She looked at you with a mixture of frustration and confusion. You offered her a weak smile, and you were granted a memory. A ruthless woman with orange eyes and sharpened teeth meant to tear into flesh instead of lips. She was a clone, not a twin.
Was this really the same person?
Quickly remembering your manners, you bowed to Mileena, who watched you closely with narrowed eyes. Your mind still buzzed, and you knew you must have a deeper past with her.
“What are you doing out here, Earthrealmer?” She quickly inquired, her eyes watching you with distrust. You held up your hands as you backed up, trying to display that you were not a threat. Irritation was evident, but you had a feeling that the origin of it was not related to you.
“I was just touring the gardens.” You quickly explained. “I couldn’t sleep. Tanya, one of your Umgadi, helped escort me out here.” You added on. You noted how she seemed to relax a bit upon the mention of the guard. She nodded, though you can sense she was on edge.
“I see.” The princess replied, her lips pursed. “Cause no trouble then.” Mileena instructed, then began to walk off. You sensed she was still mad about something, but what you could not fathom. You swallowed, and before you knew it, you opened your mouth.
“Wait!” You called out, turning to look at her. She halted, though did not turn around. “Would you like to hear a quick story?” You offered. Perplexed, she turned and looked at you. Her eyes scanned you, her eyebrows furrowed, clearly confused by your sudden offer. There was a moment of silence, and you wondered if it was presumptuous of you to have offered. You knew you were a people pleaser, but perhaps trying to offer something like a story to royalty was too far.
“What type of story?”
“I did not know Earthrealmers could have such fascinating adventures.”
“Well, it’s mostly a tale.” You said, smiling at the princess. You had recounted a movie that Johnny Cage had shown you. You did not know why you did this, but it didn’t sit right with you to see Mileena so upset. She was much more relaxed, the irritation that had rolled off of her in waves dissipating as you had told her of the stories.
“Still, the imaginations of your people are…intriguing.” Mileena looked down at her folded hands, a conflicted look on her face before she sighed. “Tell me, why tell me such things?” She inquired, her eyes narrowing towards you. “You do not seem the sort to randomly spew stories, unlike one of your other companions.”
“I thought a story might help.” You replied honestly. “You seemed, and forgive me for being blunt, stressed, princess.” You swallowed as you looked towards the stars. The princess in front of you was much different than you memories had shown. That was good. “I often know distracting myself from my troubles sometimes helps.”
“I see.” Mileena said, and you heard her shift as she looked away. “I suppose you have good instincts then.” She admitted, though you could tell she felt awkward that she had been read so easily. She paused as she seemed to ponder over something. “Are you often up this late?”
“Unfortunately, yes.” You tell her, crossing your arms as you recalled the many other sleepless nights you had. It was rare you ever went to sleep as expected. “Walks often help clear my mind, so that’s why I went out into the gardens.”
“If you are to be up this late, then I suppose we’ll see each other more often.” Mileena said, and you looked at her in surprise. “I would like to hear more of your tales, they amuse me.” You smiled at her nodding.
“I would be honored to be of service.” You tell her, bowing once more. Mileena looked at you in approval, seeming to enjoy the way you held her in high regard. It was a breath of fresh air compared to her conspirators.
“Meet me here tomorrow, then.” She instructed. She began to walk off, before pausing once more. “Good night…” She spoke your name, testing it out. Your smile grew wide as you waved at her, feeling satisfied that you had helped her from whatever had irritated her.
“Goodnight, princess.”
Taking another moment to yourself, you let out a sigh as you turned your face to look at the purple skies once more. Despite the oddities of Outworld, so far your stay here has been quite…nice. A soft breeze passed, and you smiled.
Maybe you did belong, just a bit, in Outworld.

Letting Go: How Shinkai Succeeds where Lucas Fails

After reading that essay on how Kung Fu Panda did the “letting go of attachments” story way better than Lucas did, I was inspired to write this. The problem with SW is that it tries to apply what is spiritual advice to a hero’s narrative when it’s not about heroism. It’s about coming to terms with grief, preparing for death or letting your child grow up. I want to talk a bit about two of Makoto Shinkai’s films that are both favorites of mine, Weathering With You and Suzume as both delve into this topic. The latter has its title character come to terms with her grief and trauma while the former is a rejection of the utilitarian view of letting one person die for the “greater good”.
Suzume succeeds with its “letting go” message because it focuses on the journey and shows the importance of a true support system and that it takes time to come to terms with grief. Expecting people to just let go immediately isn’t fair and unrealistic. Suzume’s whole journey is about exploring new places, meeting new people and learning joy can still come from grief.
Shinkai based this movie off the 2011 earthquake which was a real source of trauma for Japan. Suzume is a survivor who lost her mother and her home. She has to learn to not dwell on her past hurt but at no point is she shamed for missing her mother or told to just let Souta rot as the keystone for “the greater good”. She’s allowed to mourn. She and her aunt, Tamaki grow as people and as parent and child through emotional experiences, both in the movie during their argument and reconciliation as well as in the booklet that revealed a bit about their past. Tamaki had the responsibilities of being a parent thrust on her and resented it at times but communication was what helped their relationship become healthier and she never shamed her niece for having negative emotions. I’ve written an essay about this too.

The reason this movie succeeds at its message is that it treats its characters and audience with sensitivity. Suzume heals by remembering the happy moments with her mother and Tamaki was willing to adapt to her needs, unlike the Jedi Council. I think @abla-soso’s written about this but George doesn’t have the healthiest view of human psychology and trauma or of relationships nor is he a good writer. He’s sympathetic to Anakin, sure, but he and much of the fandom treat him as just greedy for holding onto his attachments when he doesn’t have a support system that validates his emotions and won’t help him heal except for telling him to meditate. A child healing by remembering their mother while going on a road trip to come out of their shell is not the same as being forced to go and help slavers that caused you so much pain. How can one heal from that?
The other movie in question, Weathering With You, is sort of a response to the ultra collectivism in Japan. Hina is expected to die so the rainfall will stop but what about the people who know her and have to deal with her loss? The little people are always forgotten about in these greater good arguments. Kind of like Trace and Rafa in TCW. Hodaka may have been selfish, yes, but Hina was the one person who treated him with kindness and affection as opposed to how his parents and the kids from his hometown did. Not to mention she still had a brother to take care of with their mother dying a year before the film was set. To just die would be abandoning those who needed her. Hodaka’s trauma and anger is treated with respect by Shinkai as opposed to just being written off as evil like Lucas or Jedi stans would.

Some have interpreted the movie as a climate change denial story with the rains and flooding being treated as natural. But it’s really more of a response those who put all the blame and pressure on one person to fix the problem, especially the young being forced to do so by the older generations. It’s not fair for the older generations to create these problems then put all the burden of solving it on the youth. The Jedi council was plenty guilty of that with how they treated their padawans. And it’s okay to live your life to the fullest, even if the world is falling apart.
I’m sure the Jedi apologists will probably respond by saying “Jedi aren’t against love or emotion, just possessiveness” but that’s not what the movies show even if Lucas didn’t intend for it to come off that way. Maybe these movies treat the subject with more sensitivity and nuance because they’re written by someone who understands Shinto philosophy unlike a 70s hippie who blends stoicism with eastern beliefs. Yes, SW was intended to be black and white, but that’s not how real life works. What may not affect one person will affect another and it’s not wrong to need time and unconditional love to heal. You can’t just slap labels like selfish attachment or greed on someone when you don’t know or refuse to understand their circumstances and motivations and it’s not fair to judge or write them off.

The Long Wait Chapter 1
First Meetings (Sean's POV)
Fandom: Grimm
Pairing: Sean Renard/OC Burkhardt Sister
The Long Wait Masterlist
There are not a lot of fanfics with the soulmate trope for Grimm. This is my first time writing using this trope. This one got away from me quite a bit. It was originally going to be a Sean/Reader, but the my OC just started developing and before I knew it, there she was. I have a feeling there will be more to come. There will be a large age gap, even though both characters are of age.
*banners courtesy of @cafekitsune
Sean hadn’t always been sceptical about soulmates. He knew they existed and had even met people who had found their soulmates. When he was a young boy, he would constantly scan his body, hoping his soulmark to appear. His brother Eric, who had been born with his soulmark, would mock him “Do you really think a bastard would be worthy of a soulmate?” Despite the mocking, he still held hope. Hope that he would receive a soulmate who would love him and accept him as he is.
He reached his teen years and still had not received his mark. He would watch his classmates show off their marks and even witnessed some meet their soulmates. The older he got, the more hope his lost. Sean no longer scanned his body for signs of a mark.
Sean’s mother had met her soulmate when she was young. However, he had tragically been killed in a car accident not long after they met. His mother would always assure him that he would receive his mark eventually, that it simply meant his soulmate was a little younger than him. They hadn’t been born yet.
Sean finished school, attended college, and made the choice to become a police officer. He had lost all hope of getting a soulmate. By now he had grown into his looks and was aware of the role they could play in attracting women and men. He entered relationships with those who were filling in time as they waited for their own soulmates.
It was not long after he graduated the police academy that he noticed a mark had appeared on the inside of his upper arm. Sean stared at the mark in surprised, barely daring to believe it was actually there. He had been waiting for so long and it was finally there.
Sean was not sure how to feel about its arrival. Its arrival now, meant that he was over 20 years older than his soulmate. By the time his soulmate was eighteen, he would be forty. Would they want him? Would he want them? He couldn’t imagine dating a teenager at his present age, let alone as a middle age men.
Instead of being happy about the appearance of his mark, he resented its presence. It was a sign that he would have to continue waiting. That he and his soulmate would face barriers due to the large age gap between them.
Despite his unhappiness, Sean knew that he would cherish his soulmate. He would treat them like a king or queen, no matter their gender. However, to avoid driving himself mad as he waited for them, he continued life as if he had no mark. He covered it up and lived his life. He rose through the ranks of police force, eventually becoming a captain with his own precinct.
Sean became cold and hard, keeping people at a distance. He dated and had shallow relationships, never letting anyone get close. When he found out one of his new detectives had the potential to be a Grimm, he kept a close eye on him. Work, the Grimm and his family kept him busy, not allowing for much time to spend dwelling on his soulmate.
When Marie Kessler arrived in Portland, Sean knew something had to be done and directed Adalind to have her killed before Marie could turn Nick against him and his group. It was after her death that Sean was introduced to Nick’s younger sister, who he brought into the precinct when he had to sign some documents, despite being on bereavement leave.
Sean first saw her through the windows of his office. She was leaning against Nick’s desk speaking with Hank. When he first saw her, his heart skipped a beat. He thought she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Leaving his office, he approached the trio.
“Burkhardt, you’re supposed to be on beravement leave.” Sean stated as he reached Nick’s desk.
Nick looked up from the paper. “I am captain. I just forgot to sign off on this report.” The detective replied.
“It could have waited.” Sean replied, trying to avoid staring at the mystery woman.
“I know, but we were in the area, so I figured I might as well get it done.” Nick stated.
“And who might this?” Sean asked.
Nick glanced at the young woman. “Oh yeah. This is my baby sister, Lorelei. Lore, this is Captain Sean Renard.”
Lorelei put out her hand for Sean to shake. “It’s nice to meet you”.
Sean took the offered hand, feeling a jolt of electricity shoot down his arm as their hands met. “Likewise.” He replied after a moment, pondering if she had felt the electric shock as well. Her expression gave nothing away. “My condolences for your aunts passing.”
Lorelei gave him a small smile. “Thank you.”
“I didn’t realise Burkhardt had a younger sister.” Sean stated. “Do you live in Portland?”
“Yes, he does. He doesn’t talk about me much, because I am the smarter and better-looking Burkhardt sibling.” She said, throwing a teasing grin towards her brother, who uttered out a disgruntled “Hey!”. “And I’m in the process of moving to Portland. I finished up with school out east and decided to move to be closer to my big brother. I’m starting at Portland State.”
Sean nodded, slightly happy to know she would be staying in Portland. He then wandered if he would be dealing with two Grimms living in his city. Sean knew that both Nick’s mother and aunt inherited the Grimm gene. “Well, welcome to Portland.
“Thank you sir.”
“And I am done.” Nick stated, closing the file he had been working on and stood up. Lorelei turned to look at her brother.
“Brilliant, you can buy me lunch.” She said, threading her arm through his.
Sean, who had been about to turn away, did a double take when he noticed it. The mark on her arm. The one in the same position as his own. The one that matched his.
“See you Hank, Captain.” Nick said, as he allowed his sister to drag him away from them.
Sean barely replied as he stood in shock. It couldn’t be…he must be seeing things. Without another word, he spun around and walked back into his office. Closing the door and lowering the blinds, he dropped into his chair and stared blankly ahead. What are the odds? After all this time waiting, he finally found his soulmate. Not only did she have the potential to be a Grimm, but he also had her aunt killed.
The universe must really hate him.

Heya, I love your writing! So glad to see you're taking requests again. I know this is a older fandom, but I've had this idea for a while and I'm excited to read your take on it.
During his cruel phase Shuu wanted to share a "romantic dinner" with his darling. That of course being human flesh, and of course not eating was not a option.
Despite the shame and horror of it, his darling actually enjoyed the taste and begins to develop a craving for it. But never lets anyone know about it, especially Shuu, even after his personality change.
Eventually she gives in to her urges and starts sneaking little bits of meat every few months until she's caught (who catches her is up to you).
How would Shuu Tsukiyama (and maybe his father) react to finding all this out?
Older fandoms will always be welcomed here so no worries.

A forbidden craving
🍷You remember that night very clearly. The dark sky above you, the soft glow of the candlelight, the expensive cutlery and of course the highlight of the dinner, the dish. It’s served on a plate so clean that you can see your own reflection in it and in the middle of it is the meat placed. You remember how perfectly cooked it look, resembling an expensive cut of steak as the smell infiltrates your nostrils and you feel your mouth watering. Yet you don’t trust Shuu, you’ve never been able to trust him. He’s sickly obsessed with you and you never know on which days he’ll be a dramatic and clingy bastard and on which days he’ll be a sadistic, dramatic and clingy bastard. So your guard is up when he ushers you to sit down, very gentlemanly on this evening as he sits down with you, giving you a sweet smile. You don’t dig in when he starts enjoying the meat, your gaze continues to be wary and eventually notices and asks you what’s wrong.
🍷You swallow heavily as you dare to ask him about the meat, about the origin. The smile on his face returns but you instantly notice that it isn’t as sweet anymore, there’s a twisted undertone to it. He starts explaining that he really wanted you to enjoy a meal with you together as you feel one of his hands reaching out for yours over the table. He really wanted you two to enjoy the same meal together. He doesn’t need to say anymore and he knows that as he gives you a gleeful grin as your eyes widen in horror as you stare at the steak at the plate. It…It’s human flesh. He actually prepared human flesh for you. You want to back away in horror as you shake your head, terrified with the thought of eating this meat but his hand holds your arm tightly as he stands up with a sock grin on his face. Dove, it would be very impolite to not finish the food he has specifically prepared for you.
🍷You can’t do anything as he’s so much stronger for you. You’re left horrified as he cuts the steak into tiny pieces and starts shoving fork after fork into your mouth, cooing and gushing over you as you start crying. You expect to throw up the moment the flesh enters your mouth but as you are forced to chew it, something else happens. Something that happens to be far more frightening. You enjoy the taste. You enjoy the taste of human flesh! Maybe it’s that realization, that guilty shame that has your eyes dwelling up with even more tears but Shuu doesn’t notice your change in distress and you’d never want him to know either. On this night this becomes your secret, one that you lock away deep inside of you. No one is allowed to know that you enjoyed the flesh and that you soon find yourself craving it again.
🍷Even after your abduction where Mirumo gives his son a lesson on how to properly treat his darling and even after Shuu mellows out thanks to the repeated scoldings of his father, you don’t tell him. You have no doubt that Shuu would accept your cravings without a second thought but that’s perhaps what scares you. You know that he’d indulge you in your desires and would probably arrange another romantic dinner with you like he did nearly a year ago when your moral dilemma started. And you fear that you’d give in to your cravings. You can’t let that happen. You’re also a human after all. You try to satiate your hunter by eating meat of animals and thanks to Shuu you’re able to get expensive Wagyu beef from all of Japan, prepared by masterful chefs. It tastes amazing and delicious beyond description…but it doesn’t satisfy your needs.
🍷It gets worse and worse with each passing week until you finally snap. You ask Shuu where he and all the butlers working in the Tsukiyama household get their nutrition from and he gladly tells you. You mask your question as harmless curiosity but in reality you’re planning to snuggle in meat too to feed from a bit. It is shameful and guilty pleasure whenever you’re able to get hold of human flesh and consume it secretly. The pleasure and enjoyment a mere spark for a moment before the shame, the disgust, the guilt threaten to crush your heart yet with each taste you crave more. You spend days in a visibly bad mood, unable to comprehend how you can enjoy feeding from the flesh of your own kind. Those emotions have a gravity to them that pulls you down and often pushes tears into your eyes. Sometimes those tears and all the guilt, confusion and self-hatred with it and Shuu always rushes to you when he hears your sobs. His heart hurts seeing you crying for no apparent reason as he drowns you in hugs and kisses, desperate to find out the reason behind your sorrow.
🍷Shuu runs soon out of ideas for what the reason behind your new sadness is that clings to you like a leech. It causes him to turn slightly frantic as his biggest wish is to make you happy and to protect you. You never tell him anything, leave him alone to stumble in the darkness with this problem and so he eventually asks Kanae, one of his most trusted servants, to keep an eye out for you. Kanae does so dutifully as she’s loyal for Shuu and just as loyal around you. She also desires to help Shuu to find out the problem behind your spoiled mood and get rid of it to see you happy again. She follows you, stalks you whenever Shuu can’t and is mindful to not get caught within the act. So perhaps it’s no surprise when she catches you in the act of smuggling human meat. Your heart drops as you see her standing there, staring at you with shocked eyes as she’s actually speechless for a while. You burst out in tears then and there.
🍷The whole household is surprised as no one saw this coming and you wish to die in that moment where Kanae brings you home and explains to Mirumo and Shuu what she’s seen. Fitting to your expectations though, Shuu takes the news well though. He’s a bit surprised to hear it but accepts your cravings quickly, actually excited as it means that both of you can share meals together again. If you have a female anatomy it also means that you’ll be able to carry his children because this man has a slight baby fever. He’s oblivious to the troubles feelings you have about your cravings but Mirumo sees what his son is in his excitement too blind to initially notice. He’s not judging you for your desire though but seeks you out for a talk later as he can understand why this situation would cause you emotional distress and wants to offer you at least a bit of guidance and comfort. As long as his in-law is healthy and happy, which by all means is by extension guaranteeing also his own son’s happiness, he’ll support you as good as he can.

Come On Over And Ruin My Life aka The one where I write chemaxiel. That's it. That's the fic. Word Count: 5175. Read on AO3 here!
There are several instances where Checo has wondered what his life has come to. For example, when he won in 2020 for the first time after 190 races, when he became a Red Bull driver, when he won in Monaco last year, and quite depressingly now, as he watches Max and Daniel flirt with each other.
Don't get Checo wrong he isn't jealous, he just feels a little left out, like he's a constant third wheel now that Daniel has rejoined Red Bull. It's kind of an open secret in the paddock that those two are dating, and have been since 2019, though Max has mentioned that they were hooking up since a certain crash the year prior. And Checo gets it, they click well and look really good together, especially when they laugh. So no, he is not jealous of their relationship.
The feeling of being left out does confuse him though. He had thought about it in the privacy of his hotel room after a day of recording and has come to the conclusion that he doesn't want neither Daniel nor Max to be less themselves, but he wants to be included in it. This then throws him through another loop because he ends up imagining all three of them laughing at something or being huddled together in some corner of the paddock as they gossip about whatever stupid strategy Ferrari tried that day. An even scarier thought is the picture his mind paints of the three of them cuddled onto one sofa watching some bullshit telenovela with English captions, Daniel's head in his lap and Max leaning into his side.
He can't, no he won't, dwell on it. He refuses to. He's friends, teammates, with them. He's not looking to insert himself into their relationship. He just wants to feel a tiny bit more included when they have to do media events or are at the factory. He doesn't need to be taken to their dates only to be walking behind them on the pavement.
Besides, are 3 people relationships even a thing? Can you even want more than 1 person at the same time? Is that allowed? He has no problem with being queer (he is bisexual after all) but falling for two men simultaneously has Checo all sorts of extra confused.
"Checo!" Max shakes him out of his thoughts, "wanna grab dinner after the race with Daniel and I?"
Checo shakes his head, "I don't wanna intrude, it's okay. I have things I could be doing anyway." He really doesn't want to see Daniel and Max share inside jokes the whole night while he pokes at some overpriced pasta.
Max nods slowly, "ah... alright. Just- You know that- nevermind." Checo watches as Max leaves, Daniel latching onto his arm before he finishes turning the corner.
Checo sighs to himself. He really needs to sort himself out before this spirals...
And spiral it does. It has gotten to a point where Daniel and Max are in his dreams. His dreams! Checo is no blushing virgin either so he has woken up to several wet dreams where he has either been fucked by Max or had his cock sucked by Daniel, the other one always watching and running their hands along his body, providing another source of stimulation. Rather embarrassingly, he ends up rutting against the mattress or into his hand until he comes after he wakes up.
He walks into Red Bull's facilities trying not to think about it as Daniel slings an arm over his shoulder and starts talking about a bird he saw last night. Checo, drawn to the warmth of Daniel, can't find it in himself to move away. He listens and adds in the occasional "yeah?" to keep Daniel talking and giggles (?!) at some of the lame jokes he makes.
What's worse is that he doesn't let go when he spots Max, he just drags him over and only moves his arm so his fingers can play with Checo's curls on the back of his neck which has his cheeks turning every shade of red. Max doesn't seem to mind, and just continues chatting to them as if this is totally normal.
How? How can they be so relaxed about this and not... he doesn't know, jealous? annoyed? Daniel is being clingy with him and not his boyfriend! Shouldn't Max be glaring holes in to his skull by now?
And Checo? Checo is too selfish to push himself away. This is what he wants after all, to be included in their interactions and not be standing off to the side and it feels so good to be standing there, talking mindlessly with the two of them. When he talks he can feel the attention of both of them like they value and treasure every word. It's addicting to have the one thing he craved all season.
"Dan, look at him. He's turned in to a tomato," Max chuckles, noticing Checo's blush.
Daniel's fingers still as he looks over Checo's face, "oops! But Maxy, it's a lovely colour on him."
Max hums and smiles, "it goes well with his freckles."
Checo blinks, his brain not connecting to his mouth - unable to form any response. It's like he bluescreened under their attention. Oh God, he is failing miserably to be normal.
Daniel's phone pings. "Ah shucks, I have to leave. Media just can't get enough of this handsome face." He detaches himself from Checo, pecks Max on the lips as Max rolls his eyes fondly. Then, he takes Checo's hand, pressing his lips to the back of it before saying "later gentlemen," and jogging off.
Checo remains frozen in place, completely floored by the last 5 minutes. He waits to see if Max get's angry or annoyed by whatever happened but... nothing. Max just smiles at him, and wraps his hand gently around his wrist as he pulls him over to their garage.
Which... what the fuck?
"Aren't you mad?" he eventually gets out as they loiter around Max's car and look at datasheets.
Max turns around and tilts his head, "mad about what? The car is doing brilliantly and we're getting podiums and wins. What's there to be mad about?"
"I meant Daniel when he... y'know." Checo vaguely gestures to his hand.
"Oh, no." Max says before he goes back to what he was doing.
Checo furrows his brows, not understanding. He doesn't say anything else and goes over to his own car and try not to think about it.
Later, he sits with his lunch, picking at the crust of his sandwich while he thinks about Daniel and Max, who take up more and more of his thoughts. They're including him more, and have been over the last few weeks since Max invited him to dinner. This is all nice and he feels a lot better generally speaking. However, he can't seem to understand what Max and Daniel want from him. The goal was not to intrude on their relationship but they seem insistent on dragging him into it.
Sighing, he pulls out his phone and googles (in an incognito tab obviously) 'can 3 people be in one relationship?'
The answer pops up on his screen and Checo doesn't know what to think.
Polyamory, or consensual nonmonogamy, is the practice of having multiple intimate relationships, whether sexual or just romantic, with the full knowledge and consent of all parties involved. Polyamory is generally not gender-specific; anyone can have multiple partners of any gender.
So, yes, it totally is a thing. He could feasibly date both Max and Daniel without any of them cheating on each other. He continues scrolling, going through reddit and other sites of similar natures where people recount how they fell in love with multiple people at the same time and enjoy being romantically (and sexually) involved with more than one person at once. Some of the stories are really heart-warming actually. Could he have that?
He turns his phone off and bites the corner of his sandwich. Do Daniel and Max even want him? He thinks they do, but there's this lingering doubt that they couldn't possibly. After all, what are the chances that both of them like him too? They've been going strong for 4 years, why change that now?
"Checo," Max sits opposite him with his own food, "I've been looking for you."
"Where else would I be?" Checo replies rhetorically.
Max lets out an amused huff, "good point."
"So," he says after swallowing another bite of sandwich, "what did you wanna find me for?"
Max nods to himself and pushes his food to the side so he can lean forward a bit. "Look, I know the first time you said no so we decided to keep it more lowkey this time. Do you want to come and watch some trashy Netflix movie Daniel picks out in his hotel room tonight? Just us three, and probably some popcorn that will have our trainers annoyed at us. Totally chill, and neither of us will take offence if you say no but we do want you there and-"
"Yes."
"Huh?"
Checo clears his throat and looks directly at Max. "I said yes. I mean, I third wheel all the time but I enjoy hanging out with you guys." He picks up his tray and stands, "text me the time and room number, yeah?"
He barely catches Max's "okay," as he leaves. He makes it back to his driver's room and locks the door, leaning back against it as he sighs. Why on God's green earth did he say yes? He's just going to be sat on the edge of a sofa awkwardly with a bowl of popcorn as Max and Daniel cuddle up together.
However, he remembers the image his brain conjured of the three of them together, and the revelation that he most likely (read: definitely) has a crush on the both of them deludes him in to thinking that it won't be like that at all. That all of the recent interactions mean something. Please, let them mean something because Checo doesn't know what to do if it doesn't.
At 8pm that night, Checo is standing outside room 411 checking and double checking his phone to ensure that he has the right information. He knows Max didn't make a mistake, he's just nervous and has to force himself out of it so he can at least pretend to be somewhat normal. He's in his thirties for fucks sake and yet he's acting like he's a teenager who's experiencing his first crush.
Still, he knocks on the door. Daniel swings it open and looks absolutely thrilled to see him, which is nice.
"Checo! Glad you actually rocked up. Maxy was worrying you would bail."
"Hey no!" Max protests in the background.
Daniel doesn't pay any attention to him, "you look good! Now come in and sit your pretty ass on the sofa and pick a movie."
Checo nods, not trusting his mouth to not say something like 'would rather sit my pretty ass on you' because he is only here to be a friend. He plops on the sofa, noticing a folded blanket resting on one arm. He runs his fingers over the fabric, enjoying the soft feel of it when Max comes in.
Max plucks the TV remote from somewhere out of Checo's view and hands it to him, sitting to his left. "I don't have high standards just as long as it's something better than Daniel's 80s flicks. He claims that they're 'classics' even though they're really cringe."
"You say that as if you weren't humming grease lightning for a week." Daniel says, holding the biggest bowl of popcorn Checo has ever seen. Of course, Daniel notices his expression and shrugs, setting the popcorn down and sitting on Checo's right, "we do this often."
"I see..." Checo acknowledges. He starts flicking through Netflix, ignoring Daniel going "pick this!" and Max replying with "do not pick that."
It got tiring after a while and Checo had enough. "Both of you just stop talking right now. We're watching Lego Batman, end of discussion." There was no reason why Lego Batman was chosen other than it happened to be the one the remote cursor was on. Besides, both Max and Daniel seem satisfied.
The movie starts and Daniel almost immediately dives for the popcorn bowl. Max grabs the blanket and unfolds it, then throws one end over towards Daniel so it stretches across the three of them. The thing is, the sofa is not designed for three grown men, so everything is a tight fit. Meaning, Checo can feel Max's thigh against his own and Daniel's arm against his. It's so warm, but not stifling nor uncomfortable. It's warm in a way that he gets a swooping sensation in his stomach and the heat rises into his cheeks.
Daniel holds the bowl out to him and Max, and Max takes a handful, leaning closer to Checo in the process before easing up a little. They both seem so comfortable around him, which is good obviously, but he feels like he's in the middle of their relationship, physically too. Though, they don't say anything and just watch the movie quietly, shifting around occasionally (this is mostly Daniel) while Checo is internally screaming 'what do you want from me?'
Because this isn't third wheeling. No, rather he feels that he is equal with them. It feels like a date or some domestic scene that could easily happen in one of their apartments. And Checo cannot bring himself to melt into the moment or even enjoy the movie he picked as the dreaded question of 'what is this?' is on the tip of his tongue the whole time.
The movie itself is fun, and nice and just the right amount of simple where you didn't have to focus too hard to understand what is going on, which is good because Daniel drops his head on Checo's shoulder, pulling his end of the blanket up to the base of his neck.
"This ok?" Daniel whispers.
"Yeah..." is all Checo can think of saying. Daniel then settles and molds himself into Checo's side, one of his hands resting on his thigh. Checo can feel every point of contact like it burns through his clothes and onto his skin. He looks at Max expecting to see annoyance or hurt at the fact his boyfriend his being so cuddly and Checo isn't making any move to stop it, but Max looks fond, like the two of them being like this is - in his words - simply lovely.
Perhaps there is no harm in just taking this for granted. If he doesn't think about it too much, it is really nice to be hugged by Daniel. Checo slowly wraps his arm around Daniel's waist to hold him against his side and Daniel hums contentedly, pleased with the development.
'Just for now,' Checo thinks, 'then I have to do something about this.' Of course, Max choses that exact moment to shift and prop his legs on Checo's lap and lean his back over the arm of the sofa and close his eyes. Daniel feels Checo tense and rubs small circles into his thigh in an attempt to calm him. It works a bit but not enough to stop him from asking "what are we doing?"
"Chilling, cuddling, watching Batman," Max says, stating the obvious.
"No, no, that doesn't help, that's not-" Checo sighs, agitated, before pushing the blanket off him and standing, effectively shoving Max and Daniel off of him. He turns around to face them and takes in their confused expressions. Good, now they know how he feels.
"What's wrong?" Daniel asks, sitting up properly.
Checo laughs wryly, "what's wrong? What's wrong?! Mierda, I can't even begin to describe what the fuck is going on because I have no clue!" His voices raises in frustration but he can't bring himself to care, pacing and gesturing wildly as everything comes pouring out at once.
"I used to feel like such a third wheel with you two but then you started dragging me in to your relationship which is so weird? I initially just wanted to be your friend but this got me feeling all sorts of things that I shouldn't and you refuse to elaborate on it! You just do these things instead of communicating what it is you want from me and now I don't know where I stand or what I should do with you two. It makes me want to kick myself because despite all of that I've caught feelings for the both of you and can't bring myself to hate you at all for any of it. And now? Now you're looking at me as if I'm the one who doesn't make any sense. ¡No los entiendo a ustedes dos y me está destrozando! Y no puedo permitirme el lujo de ser algo en lo que estás interesado brevemente antes de pasar a la siguiente. ¡No seré una conexión para ustedes dos! Me merezco más que eso."
Checo breathes, re-centering himself after accidentally slipping back in to Spanish, before looking and Max and Daniel, who appear less confused and more guilty. "You have no right," Checo finishes in English, "to play with my feelings."
He doesn't waste much time after that and heads for the door, not bothering to hear them out.
Max gets up first. "Checo, wait-"
"Just... stop." He twists the doorhandle and leaves.
He doesn't go back to his hotel room. He can't bring himself to just lie in bed and wallow (and maybe cry). Besides, that would be the first place Max and Daniel look if they chase after him, and right now he doesn't want to see them.
He ends up leaving the hotel and wandering around until he finds a park and sits down on a bench, looking up at the night sky. He couldn't see any stars despite the lack of clouds. That really is just the cherry on top of this disaster cake.
"Checo?"
He lowers his gaze and looks around, the voice lacking a Dutch or Australian twang. He ends up locking eyes with Alex Albon.
"Alex? What are you doing here?" he asks.
Alex chuckles, "could ask you the same thing." He gestures to the empty spot on the bench, "can I?"
Checo nods and for a while neither of them say anything. Just two drivers sat in the middle of a park at night, totally normal. Though, as sarcastic as that sentiment may be, it is probably one of the most normal things that have happened in the past few weeks.
"Why are you here?" Alex says eventually. "Don't get me wrong, I am not judging your choices but something seems to be bothering you. If you want to share that, you can."
"It's... complicated."
"I can do complicated. Lily says that I'm a good listener. Might be nice to get it off your chest."
Checo looks at Alex and sighs, "where do I start? It's Max and Daniel."
"Oh boy. I am far to familiar with those two than I'd like to be."
"How so?"
Alex winces, as if the memory is slightly painful. "Of course, I was Max's teammate before you. I have caught them fucking on almost every surface in the garage and hospitalities."
"Even the car?"
"On multiple occasions," Alex grimaces. "Heck, I'm pretty sure I only saw half the story. I don't wanna know what the poor Renault staff have seen. Though, I suppose it's worse for you now that Daniel is back at the factory too."
"It's not that bad for me actually. I think someone had a word with them when Daniel resigned, though when Daniel was at McLaren I did hear them. But honestly," Checo admits, "that isn't even the problem. I think I'm the problem."
"How so?"
"I... fuck, I fell for them."
"Like, in love with both of them? At the same time?"
"Yes, exactly that."
Alex doesn't look too shocked, but still relatively surprised. His face then settles into a look of contemplation. "That must be tricky. I didn't even know you liked men."
"I'm bisexual. Anyway, these past few weeks have been weird because I like both of them and I can't tell what they want from me. They just suddenly tried to put me in their relationship or at least want to hook up or something and yet they make no move to explain any of it. They didn't even talk to me. They just are very... physical? I mean touchy, and also they have just invited me on their dates and... yeah."
Alex nods, processing it all, then says, "I assume something happened tonight?"
"I snapped," Checo admits before telling Alex every detail. Alex doesn't judge, just sits and listens. When Checo is done, it feels like a weight has been lifted off of his chest and he can finally breathe again. It still stings though, but is less crushing and the relief of it all makes tears spring in his eyes.
"Oh mate," Alex says and slings an arm around Checo's shoulders, pulling him into his side. Checo relaxes into the comfort given. His shoulders sag, a few tears eventually falling and he just feels so, so tired.
They stay like that for a while before Alex says, "they're idiots, you know."
"Hmm?"
"Max and Daniel," Alex says. "They clearly do like you the way you like them but are trying to get together with you the same way they did, which is fucking stupid. They should've just talked with you properly, but you also need to not put yourself down as much. You're a great person and you deserve respect and clarity, so don't feel bad about snapping at them. They had it coming."
"Thank you," is all Checo can reply with, because Alex has really been an amazing friend tonight.
They end up hanging out for a while, turns out Alex just can't sleep and got bored, before Checo finds his way back to his hotel room. He collapses back in his bed absolutely exhausted and welcomes sleep easily.
The next day, with a formed plan in mind, Checo immediately walks up to both of them and simply tells them "room 443, after all this." He doesn't linger, and goes back to discussing strategies and car development with his engineers. He can feels their eyes on him throughout the day, and sometimes he stares back as if he's daring them to do something. They never do. Instead, they flush red, like they're a naughty kid having an extra cookie, and look in any and all directions par at Checo. It's kind of cute.
Not even 15 minutes after Checo makes it back to his hotel room, he hears a rapid knocking. He opens the door to see Max and Daniel. Daniel is pulling on the edges on his hoodie and Max is indiscreetly holding flowers behind his back.
"Come in," Checo says, careful to make voice even. He closes the door and Max hands him the flowers.
"We're-" Max starts.
"Thank you for these, they're very pretty." Checo interrupts before gently placing them down on a side table. "You two are now going to sit down and have one chance to explain everything. No arguments. Only then will I decide what happens next."
Max and Daniel sit down without complaint and Checo stands before them, hands on his hips as he waits for them to start.
They look at each other before Daniel speaks up, "we are so sorry for hurting you."
Max nods, "yeah, we are. We didn't intentionally mean to confuse you. We just wanted you."
Checo raises and eyebrow and looks between both of them, silently telling them to continue.
"It's gonna sound a bit crazy but we both want a relationship with you," Daniel continues, "Max and I still love each other, but we also really like you. We thought if we just slowly integrate you into our dynamic it won't be as weird?"
"Yeah, and do things like how me and Daniel originally got together," Max adds.
Holy shit, Alex hit the nail on the head. They do like him, and they were just being stupid about it.
"And we were a bit scared of asking you about it," Max finishes.
"Fuck, yeah, I mean what are the odds that not only do Max and I like you but that you also like both of us?" Daniel asks in a way that he tries to pass as a rhetoric joke but Checo can hear the sincerity in it. They don't think they're affections are returned, especially now they aren't in Checo's good books.
But, oh, how wrong they are. Checo's heart leaps now he knows that that they like him in all the same ways.
"Pretty high, probably at about 100%" Checo smiles at them.
Max's gaze snaps up from his lap and Daniel looks like Checo just told him the answer to life's biggest mystery.
"Now, I am still a little mad that you guys decided it was smarter to play with my feelings than just straight up tell me," Checo clarifies. Daniel and Max frown. "But," Checo continues, walking around and toward the bedroom, "I think there's a way you can make it up to me." He winks then chuckles upon seeing Max and Daniel quickly scramble towards him.
Checo sits in the middle of the bed, "come here and kiss me then I will forgive you."
Max doesn't waste much time, immediately going over to hold Checo's face and kiss him. Max kisses how he drives: determined and passionate. It makes Checo's body flush with warmth, especially when Max's tongue touches his lips. Checo opens them and softly gasps at the feeling of Max's tongue in his mouth. Eventually, he gently pushes Max off and beckons Daniel over.
Checo moves to sit in Daniel's lap and kiss him instead. Daniel kisses him with a lot more gentleness than Max, but with equal passion. He can feel Max watching them and hears him shift closer, putting his arms around Checo's chest and start kissing down the side his neck, sucking lightly where his neck meets his shoulder, causing Checo to moan into Daniel's mouth and shift his hips a little which earns him a soft groan in response.
The feeling of both of them on him, kissing, touching, loving, is just addictive. He wants more and can feel from where he’s sat on Daniel’s lap and how Max has slinked a hand under his shirt, running his fingers up his torso and down again, that they are all in the same boat on this.
"Can we..." Max says against his skin, fingers travelling down to slightly dip under his waistband.
Checo gets the message, disconnecting his lips from Daniels to reply with more desperation than he'd like to admit, "fuck me."
It takes a bit to figure out their dynamics and learn what everyone likes but it ends with Daniel's fingers up Checo's ass before Max fucks him, and Checo sucking Daniel's cock as Max thrusts in to him. They were probably loud, and Checo definitely has a collection of hickeys covering the base of his throat and down over his pecs, but Checo cannot bring himself to care. He falls asleep just as Max cleans him and Daniel up.
The next morning when they’re all awake, naked and cuddled together on Checo’s hotel bed, Max asks, “Do you forgive us?”
Checo smiles up at Max from where he lies on Max’s chest and presses a chaste kiss to Max’s jaw then takes Daniel’s hand and places a kiss to his palm. “Mis amores, I forgive you, did a long while ago, and I want you. This wasn’t a one time thing for me.”
“It’s not for us,” Daniel says from the other side of Max, looking right into Checo's eyes, “never has been.”
“I’m glad.” Checo sighs and cuddles closer to the two of them.
He sees Alex in the paddock that morning. Alex waves at him and makes his way over. "You alright mate?"
"Yeah, I'm pretty great. You were right by the way."
Alex grins, "told you so." He looks at something on Checo's neck and waggles his eyebrows teasingly, "looks like you had fun last night."
Checo chuckles and adjusts the collar of his Red Bull polo, better covering what he knows is a hickey. "I did. We had a talk before we left about what we are and what we wanted out of all this," Checo looks around for any boom mics or cameras - he's clear, "they're my boyfriends."
"That's awesome mate, I'm happy for you. You guys are gonna be the best trio Red Bull have seen!" Alex claps him on the back.
"Thank you," Checo smiles.
Alex nods, "see you on track!" Checo watches him go back to Williams.
An arm slings over his shoulder and Checo grins, immediately knowing who it is.
"All good?" Daniel asks. Checo's chest floods with warmth and love. They haven't said 'I love you', not yet. It's still fresh for the three of them, but Checo has no doubt that eventually they will get there.
Checo nudges him with the side of his hip, "perfect, you?"
"Never better, love. Now come on, let's find Maxy. Can't wait to see you kill it on track," Daniel says, guiding him back over to Red Bull where Max is leaning against a wall, race suit already on and talking to a mechanic.
"Special delivery of one driver!" Daniel announces dramatically, gesturing to Checo.
Max's face lights up, quickly finishing up his conversation and manoeuvring through the garage to see them. "You doing okay? I mean it might not have been our smartest idea to... before a race."
"You mean how I will have to sit in a car for two hours with a sore ass?" Checo smirks, not even bothering to lower his tone around the mechanics.
"Oh my god..." Daniel groans quietly.
"Yes that," Max mumbles, cheeks flushed all red.
Checo giggles, "I will be fine."
"That's great then, love," Daniel smiles, "now go suit up. Don't want Marko to come after you."
Checo nods and makes his way back to his drivers room, hands brushing his boyfriends' as a subtle romantic goodbye.
He can't be too obvious, that much is a given, but given how Max and Daniel had established themselves as being very touchy-feely 'friends' so perhaps he could find out what he could get away with in the future.
And wow, to think about them in the future makes his heart flutter. This is real. This is the start of something solid. He knows it won't be easy for a multitude of reasons but those seem like future obstacles that he believes they should be able to overcome. He feels lighter, more than he has in a while and something tells him 2023 will be good year.

Long AU ramblings....
Thinking about this little nagiiba au I have that I tried to write out a while back....
Essentially, it's a non-idol au where Nagisa and Ibara both attend the same private high school, but Ibara's a new transfer student and generally keeps to himself. But they connect through music, Nagisa who is classically trained in the violin and Ibara who picked up the guitar because one of the few nice older kids at the orphanage would play it for him from time to time. Even if Ibara has already garnered a bit of a negative reputation for having an improper upbringing and generally being rude, Nagisa enjoys the time they spend together and ignores any advising to avoid Ibara.
Over the course of the school year, they have fun, hanging out like regular teenagers do (arcade "dates," going to festivals together, unintentional sleepovers while the parental figures are away), trying to avoid the impending doom of college exams and the like... Because of the time he spent playing music with Ibara, Nagisa's gained a reignited passion for music and seeks to go to music school. Meanwhile, Ibara is being railroaded into business school.
When fall turns to winter, that's when they really start to realize the feelings they have for each other- Ibara in a quick abrupt "oh no oh no" gay panic way and Nagisa in the "I'm not sure how to express the way being around him makes me feel, but it's not a bad feeling" way. And they confess to each other on a snowy winter day before winter break!
They start going on proper dates, and Ibara even gains the courage to be the one to say "I love you" first. Of course, the impending doom of college isn't the impending doom for no reason. Nagisa applied to a number of music schools, including international ones. And now that it's spring, he's heard back from them, having been accepted by a music school in Europe. When Nagisa tells Ibara about it, he's so happy for him! Wow! That's so impressive Nagisa-san! Wait it's in Europe...? Ibara will spend the night looking up statistics about how likely long distance relationships are to succeed, which spirals into "how many 'first love' relationships succeed" and worrying about if Nagisa will find someone better and more in-line with the life he wants to live while at school. At the same time, Nagisa can tell that despite Ibara acting 100% on board with things, something seems off although he can't quite tell what.
It's just before graduation when Nagisa finally winds up confronting Ibara about what he's not telling him. If he's so bothered about something, he should say it, after all. But Ibara, running on "I can't get hurt by him finding someone better if we're simply not in a relationship" logic, fumbles his way through a break up and running away before Nagisa can get a chance to respond. A very bitter ending to Nagisa's high school life, although he doesn't have much time to spend dwelling on it with finals, graduation, and preparing to leave the country. Well, he'll dwell on it in his spare time considering he's tried texting and calling Ibara multiple times to no response (eventually getting a response in a "I think you have the wrong number, sir" way).
But fast forward a decade and Nagisa's become a celebrated violinist, performing concerts around the world. And he's currently about to perform in a Tokyo concert hall when he sees a rather familiar face taking his seat in the audience..... He honestly never thought he'd see Ibara again, and yet there Ibara is, watching him play.... Once the show ends, Nagisa is almost in a rush to have someone get Ibara and let him into the greenroom- he doesn't want Ibara to slip away again (even more than he thought he would have after all the emotions he had felt regarding their break up).
The conversation once they're alone together is awkward and a bit tense- Ibara hadn't been expecting Nagisa to notice him in the audience, let alone want to talk to him afterwards. They catch up a bit, Ibara now being the manager and president over multiple companies that were left behind to him as well as new companies he had formed after completing business school.
It's impossible to avoid the elephant in the room, though, and it's not long before Nagisa expresses the feelings he hadn't been able to share with Ibara since that day and Ibara explains his own side of things. Although Nagisa does understand Ibara and the stupid teenagerness of it all bit better now, he still needs Ibara to make things up to him if he ever wants full forgiveness...... by being his friend and actually communicating the next time things like that happen. They aren't immediately going to go back to being a couple, that sort of thing takes time and they certainly aren't the same people they were ten years prior but... it wouldn't hurt to try a little.
