I get the distinction!! I was just curious because surely her powers as Natural Mother would be based on maternal magic we can see in your other fics - hence the references.

OK I think I get it!! side question - if the maternal magic depends on the bond between mother and child and hermione doesn't actually need it, could there be a moment when child in need instead of their mother comes to Hermione? Or could Hermione feel that a child is being abused? If Hermione was the oldest in her year does that mean her peers came to her for help instead of older students?

(side note I'd kill for any of your story with Sirius and Hermione. I'm being dead serious (pun unintended) do you accept human sacrifice?) (I'm joking) (or not)

So the answer to your side questions are basically yes. While I have no situations where this happens specifically, other students would come to Hermione or maybe feel like they want to? Ultimately, I imagine a lot of students choosing McGonagall over Hermione simply because McGonagall is an adult. But once Hermione becomes a prefect, she would be first contact for a lot of first years.

I will say, in my head canon, the reason Hogwarts starts at 11 is because that's the age children no longer really need the maternal or paternal magic to help them manage their magic. There are extenuating circumstances, and the parental magics are still very soothing, but kids wouldn't really come to Hermione because they're no longer babies? If that makes sense? So it only really relates to first years, because they're still quite young. So no one in Hermione's year would probably ever come to her.

Also, with the question about abuse, definitely. Hermione can immediately tell if a child is hungry and not in the starving way. Hungry, tired, teething. She just knows.

Also, the only Sirmione I'm working on is the Child Bride re-write and it's going nowhere fast so, sorry friend. It's mostly Harmony's for a while right now, I think.

He’s never going to let Aalto know about it, but Calcharo does like to babysit Encore. The girl is fun to be around, and contrary to what it may seem, she does obey when told no. That, and he can manipulate her with food, which works pretty fine to his end as well. So, when he got a message from Aalto to drop by his office, Calcharo was already thinking about how his weekend would be spent playing with dolls and making sure that Encore doesn’t burn the house. He even passed by a shop where he thinks Encore would like to go, obviously forfeiting the bill to Aalto afterwards. And guess what? They have enough place the weekend, he doesn’t even have to make a reserve.

The work he just left behind was as driver. Calcharo has a lot of gigs, making ends meet is always a big affair to someone like him. He’s no longer dying poor, but the man has spent so long time worried about money that now he goes restless when he doesn’t have anything to do. Hence why he even ventured in the babysitting market.

Basically, Calcharo is a man with many talents.

Dressed like a chauffer (given that he was one, too), the white-haired male made his way to Aalto’s office. This is not new, to be called to Aalto’s new office instead of his home, so Calcharo didn’t suspect a thing. In a way, that’s exactly what it is.

For some things in life, you are able to prepare yourself. Alas, the brunette had not expected for this to happen — Today, of all days, where Jovie had decided to be somewhat more social outside of her usual routine. Sitting within the meadow upon which her house was situated, feeling the grass underneath her hands as she sat next to Agatha. “Ugh . . .” A groan rolled off her tongue, hand rubbing against her temple to somehow alleviate the pressure building underneath her skin.

Her teeth were aching, burning within her skull as something was craving, no, begging for release. Emerald irises darkened, frantically flickering from one spot to another until they landed upon the blonde’s shoulders. All color drained from her features, almost seeming eerily calm as she stalked closer towards Agatha. Jovie’s actions were fast, head diving down to the juncture of the other’s neck; Lips parting as her teeth glinted, sinking into exposed skin like it was second nature. However, before any pressure was applied — Her head snapped back, jaw clenching as Jovie seemed to return to normal. “A..Agatha…” Exhaling shakily, the brunette stared at the other wide-eyed. “I didn’t…I didn’t want to.”

the feeling of teeth against her shoulder causes the faerie to jolt, gasping to see jovie pulling away from it. her heart pounds against her ribs, her startled gaze trained on her companion. she can't seem to find her voice, to ask, 'why?' she can't even decipher a reason out of what she says. agatha swallows finally, forcing down the lump that formed in her throat.

all she had done was reach into her bag for the bottle of tylenol she keeps there. when jovie groaned and massaged her temple, agatha assumed maybe she had a headache and was going to offer some to her, but she didn't even get to find the bottle. instead, she felt her teeth against her skin. it was like she stopped herself before she could bite down, but still, agatha felt them. she can see her clench her jaw, perhaps like she was trying to refrain from doing so again. jovie seems... maybe a little afraid? what would this do to their blossoming friendship? even agatha isn't sure.

agatha finally speaks, " i-i don't understand. " but she wants to, she very much wants to. she doesn't leave, she doesn't lean away, instead there's a glint of curiosity in her eyes. reaching out, haltingly, she touches jovie's hand before resting it atop the back of it. a gesture to show she isn't afraid or upset. " w-why did you do it? "

outside of the fact that everyone who has sex is murdered by the narrative, this is a surprisingly chill portrayal of female sexuality? these teen girls are horny and actively enjoying Getting It On with their boytoys. no pushy boyfriends sneaking in through their bedroom windows--these ladies are taking the initiative to sneak out and GET SOME. one of them gets laid and then immediately orders her boyfriend to get her a beer. (yes she gets Slashered soon afterward, but so does the boyfriend so honestly, gender equality.) yes the Final Girl is the only one not having sex, but she's not bullied for that, nor are her friends slut shamed except possibly by being murdered by the narrative

actually the only character who is shown being morally condemned on-screen is michael myers. specifically FOR his violent overreaction to other people's sex lives. (people he is spying on). metaphorically, the villain is American Puritanism sticking its judgy nose into other people's business.

but actually the real villain is the doctor. guy's a judgemental, shaming, pathologizing asshole. and he's been in charge of michael's care since he was SIX YEARS OLD? kid never had a chance. i'd go on a killing spree too

also the parents. where are the parents? it's halloween night and all the teenage girls are home babysitting their younger siblings? come to think of it, michael's first victim was his own older sister, whom he killed while she was babysitting him. teen girls are really shouldering a labour burden here. maybe parentification is the true villain

side note: mike commits his first murder wearing a clown costume...which is never referenced again? his 'iconic' costume is a generic mask and wig and jumpsuit, when we coulda had a Killer Clown Michael Myers??? travesty

i like how the Final Girl and her friend casually smoke weed in her car. yeah she's an honor student and her friend is the sheriff's daughter. yeah they smoke weed. so what it's 1978

(to reiterate, mike is 21 and should be at the club. im not saying he shouldn't be rampaging, im saying it's sad that he broke out, tasted freedom for the first time in his life, and immediately snuck back into his childhood home to go rampaging. let's have a remake where he goes to a nightclub and has a few beers. maybe some slutty dancing. then rampage)
