where: the school who: reed / @daemxnium

Mia was really starting to lose her mind with everything that was going on lately. Grand Manan had been her fairytale forest, but now it was turning more and more into the forest of her nightmares. And it really wasn’t helpful that she had decided to choose this time and place to fall in love, because now she was constantly worrying about Reed, and that was not exactly making any of this easier. Her phone had been empty when she’d made her way to the school, and it had taken a while to find someone nice enough to borrow a charging cable from. She was only patient enough to wait until the phone was charged enough for her to make a phone call. Pacing down an empty corridor, she pressed the phone to her ear, her other hand combing through her damp blonde locks. “Pick up. Come on, come on, come on,” she mumbled, but only the voice mail answered. “Reed, it’s Mia, please call me back and tell me--” Rounding a corner, Mia ran full frontal into another person. The scent seemed familiar, but with the shock in her veins, it took her a moment to realize who she had run into. “Reed! Are you alright?”

MARZAN MANSION June 11th w/ @midnightmadncss — Mia Sommer
Asher leaned against the bar, holding a beer bottle. He was itching for a step outside and a nicotine hit. He exhaled as he brought the bottle up to his lips, taking a long sip of it as his eyes lifted up to find a blonde standing in front of him. He let out the breath he didn’t even realize he was holding when he realized it wasn’t her. “Uh,” he raised his hand, pointing towards the toilet paper stuck to her shoe. “You got somethin’ stuck to your shoe.”

"Hi.” The word slipped almost breathlessly from Mia’s lips once she had finally found the courage to walk up to Reed. She hadn’t exactly been sure whether she should interrupt the other (if it could even be called interrupting when the other stood around on her own). But Mia hadn’t been aware that Reed would be here tonight, and she had been far to conscious of the baby blue dress she was wearing, and the fact that she hadn’t checked her hair and make up in the mirror yet. But sneaking away to the bathroom didn’t sound half as appealing as talking to Reed. “I wasn’t aware you’d be here tonight,” she said, a smile growing on her lips as she toyed with the fabric of her skirt. “You look great.”

for reed / @daemxnium

It was a quiet morning, far too quiet considering the chaos that had ensued the night prior. Mia had stayed at Reed’s, but they had not talked about what happened. After making sure that Daph was okay, they had gone to bed — and while Mia hadn’t slept all night, unable to stop the thoughts in her head, at least she held Reed’s hand throughout it. In the early morning hours she dozed off, only to wake up feeling as if something wasn’t right. She had slipped out of bed and into the kitchen where she started to make pancakes. It was there that she realized that her magic wasn’t working as usual, that she could not make Reed’s plants bloom beautifully or direct the water to do what she wanted. Innerly, she was panicking. On the outside, she busied herself with pancake batter and a sizzling pan. Hands covered in cold sweat pulled her hair up into a messy bun when she heard footsteps behind her, and when she lay eyes on Reed, she was incredibly nervous both in a good and a bad way. “Hi,” she said, her voice small and shy. “I hope it’s okay I made breakfast.”

“Hey stranger.” Mia’s words were playful as she tapped onto her neighbor’s shoulder to make herself known. While she had felt a bit out of place during the evening so far, she was more than excited to spend time with the few people that meant something to her, and the woman who was her neighbor and had become a friend was definitely one of them. “Are you waiting for someone? Or are you up to spare a little bit of your time for good old me?”

who: surprise me / @cceruleans
Tumblr media
Mia had managed to get stuck with her wings. One of them had gotten caught in a rose hedge, and she was trying her best to get the plant to leave her costume alone without being too obvious about her use of magic. When she was finally free, she kept turning in circles in an attempt to get a good look at her wing. She had sewn it to the back of her dress, and since undressing wasn’t an option, she decided to simply approach the next person that passed her. “Hey, excuse me, could you maybe take a look at my wing and tell me if it’s torn? Or just how bad it looks? I might have ripped it apart on a rose thorn.”

mia & reed:
“I guess you’ll have to distract me,” Reed campaigned boldly, catching Mia’s gaze with her own steely one. Her lipstick had lost the crisp edge she had painted on so carefully earlier that evening, but her mouth still quirked up in a smile, “Because all of that is so much easier said than done.” The brunette liked the way that the other woman tethered herself to her, how her warm grip contrasted with the cool brush of rings on delicate fingers, how a sideways glimpse at the pair in one of the estate’s large windows made them look together. The two wove through the crowd and Reed pursed her lips as she surveyed the options. “Sweet is the way to go I think, I prefer my drinks to taste like juice.” Near them, a duo was pounding down whiskey- made neat and she made a face. “I’m kind of a wimp when it comes to anything strong.”

“I think I can do that.” Or at least Mia hoped she could do that. The idea of being able to distract Reed had her feeling a bit flustered, if the previous compliments hadn’t already done that trick on their own anyway. She pursed her lips as she leaned ever so slightly against Reed’s side, her eyes dancing over the menu as she looked for a fruity option. “Don’t worry, I’m also not exactly a fan of strong alcohol.” Mostly because she had started drinking it very late in life. It still wasn’t something she particularly enjoyed too much of -- she liked a drink or two, if it was sweet, and she liked the feeling of being tipsy. But anything above that was too much for her liking. Mia decided to order two fruity cocktails from the bartender, then she turned slightly in Reed’s direction. “So I’ve heard they have a pretty impressive garden, how do you feel about checking it out? I love plants.” Mostly because her magic gave her a natural green thumb, but unfortunately that wasn’t something she could tell Reed.
