who: open where: near the bar @ the marzan mansion
“I need to hide here for a second.” Raphael slipped behind another person standing by the bar without really even looking at their face. Instead, his gaze was fixated on the person who seemed to be out for blood. And why? Because he’d accidentally taken their drink. It wasn’t his fault he thought it was meant for him -- he really thought it wasn’t. But they completely overreacted (in his opinion). If he’d had his magic, maybe he would have managed to push their anger to become something more gentle. Instead he had to suffer their wrath, or hide like he was currently doing by ducking behind the stranger like a human shield. “I promise I’ll be out of your hair in a second. I just need for that one over there to disappear or else I think I might have a drink on my shirt in a minute.”

raphael & beau:
Beau held a blanket in his hand as his eyes focused on the man in front of him, tilting his head to the side. “Are you sure?” His gaze drops down to the kitten curled up in hood of his hoodie. “I think we have a few phone chargers,” he gestured to the phone in the other man’s hand. “I can go snag one for you.” He told him. He turned his head towards the little old lady with a thermos in her hand as she was pouring hot cocoa in a cup. “Yeah, Miss Linda brought some from home to keep everyone warm from the weather.” He chuckled. “You want a cup?”
“I’m sure, but thanks.” Raphael would survive a day without being curled up in a heap of blankets and pillows and thick sweaters. Other people around here probably needed it more than him. “Oh -- I don’t want to take it from someone who might need it more.” Because what would he do, other than scroll through social media? Others probably wanted to reach their families or loved ones, but who could Raphael call? His big brother, who he still didn’t know was good or bad? His parents, who he hadn’t really been in contact with? There was no one. “Well, I can never say no to hot chocolate, if I’m being honest. Keeps you warm and cheers you up, what more could one need right now?”

“When you said I should wear your shirt, did you only say that so I’d stop whining about not knowing what to wear, or because you actually thought it looked good on me?” Raphael kept tugging on the collar of the shirt stuck to his upper body. It wasn’t exactly the perfect fit, but when his roommate had offered it to him, he figured it would be stupid not to accept it. Now he was questioning his choices as he did not feel particularly comfortable in the piece of clothing. He felt as if everyone was staring at him -- then again that was always the case, no matter where he was or what he wore. “Don’t lie to me, I want the truth.”

who: hollis / @dreaminghlyy
“I forgot.” Raphael’s eyes were wide with horror when he finally reached Hollis, who was showing off a very nice fairy costume. Raphael on the other hand was all dressed in black, but not in any form of costume. Maybe it shouldn’t be surprising he’d messed up the days considering he spent the last few wrapped up in bed with his cat without looking at times or dates. “I forgot it’s Halloween.” He made a face, gesturing towards himself. “Everyone’s staring at me because I’m not dressed up. This is horrible.”

who: surprise me / @frvrwriting
Raphael was regretting a lot of things, mainly the fact that he was not wearing a costume. He hadn’t felt like dressing up, he’d only decided to go out the very last second and had maybe even forgotten about the fact that it was Halloween. Now he was surrounded by people on costumes and wondered why he was wearing black jeans and a black oversized sweater instead of something funny or scary. Clearing his throat, he tapped the person next to him on the shoulder. “Sorry? Do you know if there’s uh... a stall where you can buy last minute costumes?”

for kerem / @daemxnium
“Can I come in?” Raphael’s voice was small, just like his usually not that short or slim silhouette must look tiny in the huge sweater he was wearing. His eyes were swollen from crying himself to sleep the night prior, his curls were messy, and he was clutching his cat in his arms as if she was the last lifeline he held onto. His brother’s appearance had completely pushed Raphael off track, and now he didn’t know what to do with himself. He had to talk to someone, and Kerem was simply the easiest option: he didn’t have to leave the house and didn’t have to use his phone. “I… my brother showed up at the masquerade.” He had never told his roommate the full story, just that one of his brothers was dead and he hadn’t seen the other in years. Maybe now was the time to tell it all.

where: lookout of your choice who: dealer’s choice / @heartofasoldier
Believe it or not, but storms were one of the only things Raphael wasn’t scared of. Sure, he would definitely feel awful running around in one, but since he’d found a safe space he could hide in, he wasn’t doing so bad. His bigger problem was the mass of people crammed together in the space, causing him to wish he could just fold in on himself somewhere where no one would see him. Careful feet carried him through the others who had fled here to hide from the storm, eyes scanning his surroundings in an attempt to find a space he could maybe sit down in without annoying anyone. It seemed nearly impossible though, and so he found himself instead gravitating towards an empty spot next to another person. “Hey,” he said cautiously, plastering a careful smile onto his lips. “Uh, would you mind if I sit here? I can offer chocolate in exchange.”

who: samson montarac / @malignxnce where: some corridor in the marzan mansion
Raphael had managed to get lost in the mansion. It wasn’t his proudest moment, but he also wasn’t entirely surprised he managed to do something so stupid. He had simply been looking for the bathrooms, and apparently took a wrong turn somewhere. If he had his magic, maybe he could have made some light, lit a candle standing on a tiny table he passed, but like this? He was walking through darkness in an attempt to find his way back. When a door opened in front of him he almost ran right into it. Golden light poured into the corridor, and Raphael was quick to start with excuses in case he’d run into one of the people living here. “I swear I wasn’t sneaking around, I just wanted to go find the bathroom and -- and...” He trailed off, any thoughts in his brain vanishing as he saw a familiar face illuminated by the light behind it. Older than the last time he’d seen it, but still the same face. Here. It had been so long that a part of Raphael didn’t think he’d see his older brother ever again. And he certainly hadn’t expected it to happen today, or here, for that matter. Pain started to claw its way through his body and brain, bringing up memories he had buried more or less successfully. What did you say to the brother who’d killed your other brother before vanishing for a small eternity? Raphael was sure there was no protocol for that, and so he was left feeling numb and speechless. Until, eventually, he managed to get out a few simply words. “What are you doing here?”
