i like this also bc ppl often make a mistake by thinking that, as a pokemon ages, they evolve. There's always some requirement to evolve; most are level-based, so if a pokemon never levels up, they won't even be able to evolve. Some never reach their final stages, but still can die of old age (im pretty damn sure. lavender town?)

u can't tell me ash's pikachu isnt an old fucking man. theres a possibility he'll stay in that form his entire life, if he doesn't wish to evolve. he had the opportunity to evolve like more than a decade back, and he turned it down.

THE CIGARETTE IS MOSTLY DOING LAPS around her fingers, more than touching her lips anyway. holly doesn't really smoke, but she figures she'll try to fit in for once, try to grow comfortable in one place before inevitably searching for the next best thing. this seems like an innocent enough place to start. her attention settles onto alfie when he speaks, his words coaxing her lips to curve in a smile. « oh yeah. you know those wigs they sell at the dollar store ? all me, baby. » not her finest career choice, but beggars can't be choosers. « thanks. that's a stretch, but it's nice of you. » she leans over alfie to stub her cigarette out in the ashtray, giving his shoulder an involuntary gentle nudge in the process. « and you ? did you always dream of working in a restaurant or are you just a tiny bit of a masochist ? » one has to be to enjoy working in hospitality is what holly's gathered.

a round of drinks and a pack of cigarettes passed around after a long saturday night shift at the restaurant was not only a nice way to end the day, it was downright necessary. out of all the places he'd worked previously, alfie had to admit that this kitchen was significantly more tense than most, with a variety of chefs all at each other's throats during service, most of who had been less than pleased with alfie's initial hiring but at least the waiting staff were attractive, it was a small saving grace to be able to look up at the pass and see someone pretty collecting up the meals to be served. it'd been a couple weeks since the newest server had been hired and alfie had been trying his best to flirt with them at any given oppertunity, though they'd usually refused to stick around for drinks after the shift ended. now that they finally had agreed, he was determined to make his move. "leo said you used to do some modelling before you worked here." he gestured towards the sous chef sat at the bar, his cigarette dangling between two spindly fingers which he then brought back up to his mouth. "is that true? what the fuck are you doing here? you should be on billboards 'n shit with a face like that."
