Vee El Dee: The Good The Bad and The Ugly

If you’ve ever been on this hellsite, you’ve probably heard of Voltron: Legendary Defender. You’ll find the characters and the ships (and the discourse. Dear God the discourse) in tag after tag and on blog after blog. Now that the show has officially come to an end, I’m reviewing the whole damn thing. Talking about what I think worked, what didn’t, and what exactly the show did to make even the fans look at it so harshly now. (Just a warning “The Ugly” section discusses racism, and homophobia so if any of that triggers you I’d suggest you skip it)

The Good

The Character Potential:

Voltron’s characters had so much potential at the beginning. Their motivations, potential subplots, and clues to their arcs the first crew left us were actually interesting. How did Coran know Allura before they were frozen? What happened that caused Shiro to lose his arm? Is Lance going to reunite with his family? The show didn’t answer all of these questions mind you, but at the time they were introduced, those questions felt like they were worth sticking around to hear the answers.

The First Season:

The first season is the only season that genuinely sticks out for me, way back in ye olden days when Voltron was a character driven show as opposed to plot focused. In season one, the plot took a backseat and the characters were what held up the show, and it’s probably not a coincidence that most of the character development and more emotional/memorable scenes occurred in season one, when there was time for the characters to develop. Likewise, the character focus allowed for everyone to get their day in the limelight -not just the characters who were valuable to the plot at the moment-.

The Balmera and The Return to The Balmera:

I am never gonna be shy about my opinion that the Balmera arc is one of the strongest arcs that Voltron has had. Allura using the story of her people to inspire others and using Altea’s ancient connection to the Balmera to save an entire damn civilization! The goddamn adorable chemistry between Hunk and Shay! Believable suspense! Unlocking Lion Powers! The Balmera arc had it all and I was fed. Plus, Balmera gave us the introduction of the most blessed couple in Voltron history, hunay.

The Bad:

The Timeskips:

In theory, there’s nothing wrong with a timeskip. But you’ve gotta be able to show that the characters and show’s universe changed in some way during that timeskip and you can’t use them just to avoid actual story and character development. Take season six (? Or was it five? I don’t remember and I don’t wanna) when Keith and Krolia take a two year camping trip on a space whale while Voltron is off doing God knows what. Presumably during that time they developed some sort of mother-son relationship but we don’t get to see that development happening, or how that new relationship changed them, or really any proof that the timeskip happened at all besides Keith getting Galra marks and a teleporting space wolf. That particular time jump felt more like a cop-out to avoid writing Keith bonding with his mom.

Pacing:

To put it plainly, the pace is way too fast for anything to stick. The writing cycles from one season's worth of plot twists and WTF? moments to the next at the speed of light, leaving no time to address how the previous events affected the characters involved or not the show’s universe as a whole. So Lotor was actually evil all along and was using Allura to achieve his goals? Well there’s no time to mention how Allura feels about that, we’ve got three more surprise twists and a magic robot to shove into the plot! On the flip side however, the pacing is slower than a geriatric snail during fight scenes. The giant robot fights are usually the most exciting part of anything, but in Voltron, the fights are so formulaic that they just kinda… blur together into a boring fog. Lemme know if you can name this Voltron fight scene: the team’s fighting some random baddie, there’s a lot of yelling, someone gets a power up just big enough to defeat the current baddies when a bigger, eviler baddie appears who’s more powerful than the power up they just got, new baddie whoops Voltron’s ass, the support team watches in horror, someone else gets a power up that’s powerful enough to defeat the new bad guy, Voltron reins triumphant. What fight scene was that?

The Filler Episodes:

The fast pacing also means that they need to set aside breather episodes just to allow characters to interact besides in battle. That’s all well and good and there’s nothing wrong with filler episodes, if done right they can be some of the most memorable episodes a show can have (The Tales of Ba Sing Se anyone?) that is, if done right. But Voltron filler episodes don’t have that going for them. Filler episodes in vee el dee are an oasis of mud in the desert that is canon, they’re a generally unhelpful standstill point amidst a constantly changing series. I’ll admit that they can be funny at times but for the most part filler episodes are bizarre, unnecessary, and more often than not, poorly timed. If we just heard about a millenniums old empire folding in on itself and we’re just about to see a major character attempt suicide do we really need to see Coran go batshit while planning a space Disney On Ice?

The Ugly:

Racism:

I must confess that I am whiter than a polar bear in a snowstorm, but even I know that killing off a black girl (or black coded as the case may be), constantly torturing the Japanese guy, reducing the Samoan guy to food and fat jokes, and having the latino guy flirt with everyone before turning him into a farmer isn’t the best way to handle writing characters of colour. Denying said characters of colour arcs and screen time in favour of giving your white characters the same story in a different hat over and over again is also not the best treatment you can offer your poc characters. That’s not even mentioning other horrible treatment and stereotypes you’ll see the Voltron characters of colour experience. Let us also recall #notallgalra, the “what if the genocide victim was actually the bad guy” au mess in s3, all those “lol lance is stupid” jokes, the black character Kinkade speaking mainly in grunts, Allura dying to redeem the two genocidal dudes responsible for most of her trauma, and Hunk’s (half black half Samoan) family being enslaved at a fucking concentration camp like goddamn what the hell were you thinking Voltron that’s like hetalia levels of fucked up when we remember what kind of genuinely awful shit this show’s done to it’s minority characters.

Homophobia:

If you’re reading my review in the Voltron tag, and you watched the whole series, then there’s no way in hell that you haven’t heard about Adam dying and the backlash against Voltron for it. If you are somehow the .000001% of people who don’t know, Adam (a gay moc) was Shiro’s (another gay moc) fiancé who got a grand total of forty five seconds of screen time before dying when the Galra invaded earth. Meanwhile, L*tor and Allura’s relationship got almost triple that despite being abusive as fuck. But Shiro got married at the end of season 8! In a credits scene, to a guy in the background of a couple of scenes Shiro was also in. When lgbt fans expressed outrage at their rep being hyped up despite having no bearing on the plot or even Shiro as a character outside of one scene, instead of owning up to their mistakes, the crew of Vee El Dee said (or implied) that it was the fault of lgbt fans for hyping ourselves up. Yeah okay. Except after that we got confirmation that Ezor and Zethrid were a couple! Yay! Clearly a win for us El Gee Bee Tees right? Well… not really considering that both of them were depicted as psychotic torturers who also died a couple minutes later. Gotta love those crazy dead lesbians amirite?

Klance:

But why is klance in the “ugly” section!? You cry, I thought you were a klanti! I am an anti and I did ship klance but that’s not what I wanna talk about right now. When I put klance under ugly I wanted to discuss two things, the crew and the shippers. First let’s talk the crew; several folks on the Voltron staff have at the very least, not reacted negatively to the omnipresent ship that is Keith and Lance. I’m sure you’ll also remember that Lance’s VA Jeremy Shada was considered a KICK icon before that went south. The crew was also purposefully misleading when they talked about possible romances for Keith and Lance, the language they used was ambiguous enough that shippers interpreted it as proof that klance would become canon. When it inevitably didn’t and shit hit the fan, the staff backpedaled again. Stating that klance was never meant to be interpreted as romantic and we were all fools for thinking otherwise. That’s happened in the past so it’s a reasonable defence, except for the fact that scenes with Keith and Lance tended to contain unnecessary parallels to canonically romantic relationships, (the bonding moment paralleling an allurance scene in season six and their talk at the start of season eight paralleling two scenes, hunay in season one and l*tura in season five). So it’s not unreasonable to be a little suspicious there. Klance was huge on the internet, it’s impossible for the crew to have been completely unaware of what they were doing.

Next I wanna talk shippers. I’m not saying that being disappointed that a ship didn’t become canon is a bad thing. But when you act like that’s the worst thing Voltron did amidst the sea of ableism, racism and homophobia it gets a little tiring. The fact that so many klancers rushed to demonize Allura after season seven and eight and add on that I saw more people complaining about klance not becoming canon king than Allura dying a completely unnecessary death to redeem L*tor of all people was the final straw. I washed my hands of klance and Voltron as a whole.

So that’s my review of V*ltron. I was gonna do a separate review of season eight but I didn’t even finish s8 and to be honest it probably wouldn’t have been any more than the words “Fuck Vee El Dee, Allura Deserved Better” in big pink letters. And I know I probably made someone angry with this review but if you actually managed to stick around my ramblings all the way to the end then I salute you regardless of whether or not you agree with me.

In the past, I said Hermione without hesitation. I was always the one who felt a bit left out when new to a school, the one who lived to make teachers happy, and was a little too weird to make friends on my own without an intervening force. However, now I would say Minerva. In my friend group, I tend to be “mom”. I use logic and my mediating skills to make sure everyone stays out of too much trouble, work on guiding them through tough situations, and I always offer snacks when someone is upset. Also, cats are my life, and if I could become one, I would. Though even with the benefit of magic, the process would be incredibly complicated and I’m super lazy.

REASON FOR CHOSEN CHARACTER

What I put in my first apps: I’ve always been drawn to the darker characters. Especially the ones who appear very controlled when in the public eye, and then “let loose” when they’re behind closed doors. Then there was mention of his family basically putting him on a pedestal. I’ve always loved (and had a muse for) characters that have a little too much responsibility put on their shoulders by their parents, and then begin to crack under the pressure in highly destructive ways.

Augustus seems like the type of person who originally started out trying to be the best son he could be. Who nodded and smiled at his parents’ plans for his future, worked his hardest in school, and then one day realized there was someone out there (The Dark Lord) to whom he could devote himself, and not have to be so perfect and “good”.

Which is why he will last in this war. No one suspects the “good little quiet boy” who kept his nose in his books, and his potentially deadly spells to himself. Not even the Dark Lord wanted him at first. Not until Augustus showed him exactly what he was capable of, behind a locked door, when everyone else was out trying to make as much noise for their cause as possible.

Now that he has an excuse to use the dark skills he’s kept to himself for years, Augustus kills when asked to and tortures just for the fun of it. However, he draws the line at children, and will convince another member of the group to kill/torture them when sent to “take care of” an entire family. He can’t exactly explain why he’s protective of children, or why that mindset changes as soon as they’ve reached an age when they can defend themselves. Perhaps it’s just too easy, and he likes a challenge.

Now that I’ve actually played him: He evolved over time and his ability to suppress his emotions slipped drastically depending on who he was with. There were far more bad influences than good ones, and soon, a few too many people knew his secrets and he was caught. Since then, he has retreated back into himself as much, if not more than before, and mainly focuses on his job and making the Dark Lord proud. And God, he feels like screaming every minute of every day. As the climax of the war draws nearer, situations become more and more tense. The whispers behind his back make his skin crawl, and although he knows he will be protected if he lashes out, he swallows his curses like acid. He was betrayed once, and won’t let it happen again.

Preferred ships? Augustus/everyone, to be honest. Augustus will have sex with anyone. Long time friends, people he wants to manipulate, strangers, whatever. Sex isn’t tied to emotion for him. It is purely the pursuit of pleasure. Hell, he would probably have sex with the Dark Lord without even being commanded to do so. Because yolo? But romance is an entirely different animal. It requires trust and emotional connection and way too much of oneself. Therefore, Augustus has only felt such a connection once, and he’s not sure he wants to repeat it. However, he could easily be in a relationship or marriage with someone out of convenience or friendship. Though no monogamy or cute stuff unless pretending for the public. He thinks it would be selfish to tie someone down like that if he can’t offer them what they need emotionally.

Overall, Augustus identifies as an aromantic pansexual (though those labels aren’t exactly a thing in the 70s/80s), as a cis male (he/him/his). There has been some gender experimentation with polyjuice potion, but that was purely for fun.

Aesthetic: On one hand, he’s a smoking gun, hands dripping with blood, wet leather after a surprise storm, teeth on pale skin, the way a bottle of alcohol holds the scent when empty, skin rubbed against a rough brick wall, and sins in hallowed places. But then he’s also the smell of old books, chalk covered hands from solving impossible problems, secrets whispered to empty rooms, lies screamed into crowded places, nails digging into palms, tantrums behind locked doors, cold chains, hot coffee, lightning and hurricanes. But then as an Unspeakable, there’s all this mystery surrounding his job, and the strict rules he must follow. So order and perfection. But as a Death Eater, there’s all this chaos and mess. Augustus in school was far different. Sweaters with sleeves a little too long, glasses to read that kept slipping off, smudged parchment, top marks hidden from fellow students, praise from teachers sounding too much like the praise from his parents, the death of a sibling and the expectation to immediately get over it, sitting in windows and watching the world move too fast. Everything was perfectly imperfect, and he did everything he could to grasp and absorb the chaos around him, and hold it tight.

REACTION TO LAST EVENT DROP

While Augustus is glad that the Ministry is fully within the clutches of the Dark Lord’s side, he disagrees with the eradication of non-purebloods. He has never been a blood purest due to his childhood as an outcast and the discovery that those with colorful family trees tend to be the kindest. And after his time spent in America surrounded by Muggles, Augustus doesn’t really give a shit who your parents are. He plans to do almost everything he can to avoid a total genocide. Sure, murder and mayhem are fun, but one must draw a line at the slaughter of friends. Perhaps. While he has no plans to actively work against his fellow Death Eaters, he will not turn down direct orders. And for now, his orders are to stay focused on his work in the Department Of Mysteries. He has a plan for The Dark Lord that only someone who works in the Love Chamber can properly research.

WRITING SAMPLE

Augustus hadn’t been in this to make friends. Since childhood he’d fully accepted that he was born to be a loner. Besides, everyone else just got in his way. But as he sat, with cold metal chains wrapped around his wrists and ankles, clinking every time he tried (and failed) to find a more comfortable position, he felt truly and utterly alone. For the first time in his life, he began wishing there was someone by his side. Anyone, really. Just another warm body to deflect some of the angry, betrayed looks coming from the seats in which sat the Wizengamot and others. At that point, he would have even accepted a few of his least favorite acquaintances.

Unfortunately, everyone he knew was either dead, in Azkaban, or in the audience, watching with bated breath. This trial was one that had brought out spectators from every department of the Ministry. NO ONE had suspected the quiet wizard who went directly to and from the Department Of Mysteries every day, never making enemies or even standing out very much. He’d played his role perfectly. Even now, he kept his true self behind a facade, acting the part of the wrongly accused. Because he truly intended to leave the trial a free man. What good was the word of Karkaroff against his? The headmaster of a foreign school known to breed dark wizards, against a ‘friend’ of many at the Ministry? He’d spent countless hours cultivating false relationships with these people, earning their trust, and then gathering secrets. And until his name was spat by Karkaroff, it hadn’t so much as flashed through people’s minds. Not since he was pardoned all those years ago after his interrogation at the hands of Aversio.

The questions were easily answered with lies, and he even asked some of his own. “Where were you on the night of (…)?” “Where was I? Where were your Aurors? How could you let this happen?” “Who else answers to He Who Must Not Be Named?” “Clearly you’re bringing anyone in these days. If I pointed at any of you, would you put them on trial too?” Until the lies weren’t enough to get him released, and a vial of Veritaserum was brought out.

Rookwood started to sweat in that moment. His breath became ragged and his hands began to violently shake. If he was being honest with himself, he would have realized that it was sheer terror he was experiencing. As the potion was carried across the room and uncorked, he’d half expected someone to burst into the room and save him. The other part of him knew his entire life was about to change for the worse. Even as the liquid was forced into his mouth, possible scenarios of escape danced through his mind. If only the chains were slightly loose. Maybe one of his fellow Death Eaters sat amongst the crowd. Yaxley? Cassius? Dolores? Perhaps someone would have a sudden change of heart and remember how impossible it seemed for him to be a part of this. But alas, the chains were magic, all of his comrades had already been captured or killed, and after the trial of Barty Crouch Jr., no one trusted even the least suspicious person.

And then words were spilling past his lips, almost too fast, with the sting of Veritaserum still on his tongue. When asked about his dealings with the Death Eaters, he held nothing back, despite the deep ache within his very soul that got stronger with each new thing he revealed. Both the Wizengamot and the audience gasped as he told details of the lives he’d destroyed. How he’d stalked several entire families before torturing and killing them. The bodies he’d left in alleyways. The memories he’d stolen from those he’d left bloody and beaten. The way it made him feel when people begged. He told them it was an almost sexual satisfaction, and the Veritaserum-induced smirk that went along with his words must have been the final nail in his coffin, because the trial ended swiftly after that.

Augustus was forced to watch as his beloved wand was snapped in half in front of him, and he was immediately taken to a cold, damp room where an elderly wizard stripped him of his fine, embroidered robes and a pair of striped, dirty ones were shoved into his hands. He would be taking a portkey to Azkaban directly from that room, without a chance to say goodbye to anyone. Not that he cared very much for anyone in his life, especially those not currently residing in the prison he was destined for, but it was all very sudden. Like a flower being plucked from a vast garden and shoved into a dusty old vase, just waiting to die.

And in this little vase of his, he was alone.

June tournament report

Hey guys! This was the list I brought to my most recent tournament! As usual a bit of a weird list, but I had a fair amount of confidence going in as the couple tournaments before that I had played way more experimental nonsense. So here was a solid list relying on a core of Dark Reapers and psychic phase shenanigans along with some diet Plaguebearers.

Here’s the list: Alaitoc Battalion Winged Autarch; Farseer (Guide, Fortune) 20 Guardians (Shuriken Cannon, Scatter Laser) 20 Guardians (Shuriken Cannon x 2) 5 Rangers 10 Dark Reapers (All Reaper Launchers) Wave Serpent (Scatter lasers, no upgrades) Hemlock (jinx) Ynnari Battalion Yvraine (Word of the Phoenix/Storm of Whispers, Gaze of Ynnead) Winged Autarch, Reaper launcher, Hungering Blade, Walker of Many paths Warlord 2 x 5 Rangers 8 Storm Guardians (Chainswords) Mixed Supreme Command Eldrad (Executioner, Doom, Will of Asuryan), Warlock (Ulthwe, Quicken/Conceal), Spiritseer (Biel Tan, Spirit Stone relic, Protect/Jinx)

The idea of this list is just to just have a ton of stuff screening characters. Guardians can be super buffed and even without buffs are surprisingly tough, with Alaitoc trait, and then I ball up the board to kill their chaff and frontline. I distract people from the reapers while they do Khaine’s work! Finally, in the context of ITC it is relatively difficult to kill this list’s units, since the guardians are very tanky, then they are characters or reapers that have fire and faded to safety. Then, I am always scoring reliable kills with my hemlock, smites and other mortal wound outputs. The list performed well in testing. Ynnari is there mainly because I like Yvraine as a model and I don’t mind overpaying by about 40 points for her to be a mortal wound machine. The Autarch gives the best Farm in the game besides guard Grand Strategist/Kurov’s Aquilla - since his Path of War ability doesn’t change with Ynnari, he can farm command points on a 5+ followed by a 6. Finally, his free reroll to hit or wound once per battle round gives him a sort of pseudo doom to let him chip in with his reaper launcher. The troops are mostly rangers to prevent them from dying on turn 1. Storm guardians were just a test of a chaff unit that can screen while sometimes pitching into combat. As usual I’ll work in headings where I first recount the game, then Takeaways where I talk about what the game taught me, then another section called Moving Forward where I, well, say what I think about the game’s lessons in the context of changing my list or play. At the end I’ll do a recap of the most important things I noticed, then put forward an updated list/stratgey.

Game 1

I arrived quite exhausted as I didn’t get to sleep for a long time the night before. I really enjoyed this tournament because for once nearly all my friends were there, so it was great to catch up with them. Anyway, I was playing Steven with his Imperium Soup first. He had a knight crusader, a guard brigade with a big squad of Ogryn, then a blood angels smash captain + scouts battalion.

Here was the deployment. I deployed basically on the line with all my guardian and character ball. For secondaries I believe I picked Kingslayer on the knight, Reaper, and Butcher’s Bill. There wasn’t much of a good fire and fade place for my reapers. His knight ended up starting just behind the bullgryn. Steven was a great opponent and we became friends. I grabbed first turn and got to superbuff my guardians, then slingshot them forwards with quicken. I quickly picked up a unit of scouts with Eldrad and Yvraine, then picked up scores of guardsmen with my shuriken catapults before fire and fading them back to be out of easy charge range of the bullgryn. My hemlock flew to the bottom left corner that you can see on that photo to immediately pick up those scouts. I threw the reapers into the bullgryn rather than the knight. My reasoning was that it was going to be very difficult to pick up the knight without doom and jinx, and those bullgryn were very threatening to my guardians in combat. I picked up half the unit. I finished my turn with a comfortable lead into kill more.

Here is Steven pondering about what to do for his second turn. As you can see I have pulled fairly back with the fire and fade a lot of his frontline is missing. He pushed forward to get into closer range and shot pretty much everything into the guardians. I think he mistakedly didn’t go for the reapers with the knight but after he had committed so much into the guardians, he wanted to seal the deal there. His smash captain redeployed and with angel’s wing charged my hemlock. I played Lightning Fast Reactions with it, passed a couple spirit stone saves, and he was forced to fight again. He did pick it up scoring him his old school and kill point but he didn’t get kill more.

Turn two I moved a bit closer with characters and reformed the line with the guardians (I only lost about 6 + platforms) and also deep struck in some rangers to provide a bit of extra screen. My second guardian squad went after the smash captain, and my ynnari autarch lept up to get that objective on the hill and charge if the shooting didn’t do well against the smash. My wave serpent surged forward to charge a big mobbed up squad of guardsmen. I don’t remember exactly what happened but I either failed or didn’t doom the knight and couldn’t get in jinx range of it anyway. I randomly fired the reapers into it instead, wasting their shooting as they did maybe 3 wounds total or something. I couldn’t fire and fade them as they would still be exposed. I really should have finished off the ogryns with them instead. Anyway I successfully killed the smash captain, many guardsmen, forcing autopasses, and my screen was still intact. The wave serpent got into combat and tied up the mass of guardsmen and characters too.

Steven’s turn two involved his knight striding into threat range, and tying up my guardians with a sentinel. He killed half the reapers with the knight’s shooting. Another sentinel charged rangers. I got very lucky after he killed my wave serpent with his second smash captain, it exploded and took out a lot of models, giving me the butcher’s bill I had missed out on. My memory is a bit foggy here but basically we ended up looking at this:

I had wrapped up the sentinel and was just playing for points now. I felt a bit bad about this because I felt like I was probably going to lose with a couple more turns, but it’s not 100% clear. If the game had gone on more turns, I would have sprinted my characters up to that corner and screened with guardians, before wittling down what I could while screening out the knight as much as possible. In the end with a list like this you can’t really count it out as any of those characters can just go superman and tank a whole shooting phase or super smite a knight to death! In the end we ran out of time and Steven won by a single point, however I wouldn’t have it any other way, Steven was lovely and the reason we played slow was because we were chatting the whole time.

Takeaways: I wasn’t able to set up a full fire and fade spam on the dark reapers, and also struggled with target priority. The strength of this list is that all the opponent really has to shoot at is Guardians who are -1/-2/-3 and 2+ save with 3++ and fortune possibly. With a new screen spawning on turn two as well even if they get through that first guardian squad. The Hemlock was a bit of a one for one suicide run, as usual for the hemlock. It’s hard to use it without it getting killed by opposing smash captain or dark reapers, etc; Some armies will just fail to kill hit and it does insane work, far more than a Crimson Hunter Exarch or Razorwing, but those other options are much safer and cheaper.

With regards to the Dark Reapers, I should have boosted over to the outlined terrain feature and accepted a bit of a limited fire arc in exchange for proper fire and fade. I just didn’t really think about it much. I was also a bit worried about a turn one redeploy smash captain finding them, however I have the tools to screen that out quite easily, as well as use Forewarned. While he had some scouts there, I would have been able to use the serpent to clear them out, with scatter lasers and serpent shield.

Moving Forward: Mainly have to get better about using reapers in terms of positioning and fire and fade, and making sure they’re picking up good targets. I’m blessed in this list as I don’t have to really worry about the knight’s shooting, only its combat ability against my guardians, and people are obligated to stay back with the knight for fear of Doom + Jinx + Dark reapers, so I might get a lot of time against that sort of thing.

Game 2 Game two was against my very good friend Tim. We both laughed because at least we could take as long as we wanted for lunch. We had joked about coming all the way out to the tournament to end up playing each other anyway the day before so it was pretty amusing that it actually happened. Tim and I playtest a lot and constantly bounce ideas off each other, so it wasn’t a very serious game. Tim’s list had an alaitoc battalion with 40 guardians, farseer, warlock, 6 dire avengers, 8 reapers with tempest launcher, a wave serpent, 2 crimson hunter exarchs with bright lances, 3 war walkers with scatter lasers; then another battalion of alaitoc Farseer, Autarch and Spiritseer, then 3 x 5 rangers. Relatively similar to my army list and we do tend to agree on a few things so that’s not a surprise.

The deployment we rolled was the pointy halves, and there was matching terrain on both sides so it was pretty dumb. Both of us had 20 guardians and characters inside a ruin, a wave serpent with reapers, and plane(s). For secondaries, I picked Recon, Old School and Mark for Death on his guardian blobs and the crimson hunters, I believe, and he mirrored me. As usual Tim deployed his rangers forwards to eat smites (for some reason... I keep doing this to him and he never learns), I mentioned this to him but he insisted it was fine. Anyway I knew this game would come down to a lot of dice being thrown at each other, but one of the important things I needed to do was keep my hemlock (the shadow in the bottom right) out of doom range of his farseer, as without doom, dark reapers actually struggle to 100-0 a craftworlds plane, since it has a 5+ save and 12 wounds, so a 10 man unit only gets maybe 6 wounds through and you can save 2 or 3 and survive, then the hemlock just kills the reapers. Other than that it was important to screen out his flyers a bit so that if they wanted to come within alaitoc range to dodge the -1 on my units, they’d be either unable to, or were vulnerable to my smites. I kept first turn, and measured out his Doom threat range. Unfortunately I forgot about his relic flying buff on his Doomseer... Anyway, my hemlock stayed back in my deployment, I thought I was being very clever. My reapers were just in range of his crimson hunter, so I quickened to get them all in range, ran all the buffs and shot it out of the sky comfortably. Finally I blasted away the rangers with smite and gaze of ynnead. My guardians had nothing to shoot at. I wish I had gone second, but in ITC with the whole deployment missions, you have to go first if you are on first.

Here’s what it looked like after my first turn. I’m holding two objectives with Obsec models. My plane is so cunningly out of doom range (><). Anyway. You see the reapers are out in the open and that’s because there’s no real fire and fade places to go, but also because I am baiting him a little. He cannot hit them with guardians, so the only threats are other dark reapers and the crimson hunter exarch. His exarch cannot easily get within 12 so I am confident I can weather his fire and I would only be losing 4 at most, to be able to shoot it out of the sky and smite it to death too. If the reapers go for my reapers, they have to be a bit exposed to get LOS, so I can safely get my hemlock over there to just pick most of them up no problems. Anyway Tim’s first turn is him moving out, shooting my guardians, with me getting a bit unlucky with my platform saves; His reapers ofc blast away my hemlock. His Crimson hunter I can’t really remember but I don’t think it really did much first turn. It wasn’t looking great for me. My turn two I make a mistake bringing in my second guardian squad and pushing aggressive. I thought I had to bring them down and I was dictated their positioning from his forewarned possible answer to them. My psychic phase pretty much completely whiffs. I shoot up his guardians and fail to make a huge dent in them. My Ynnari autarch swoops in and goes super saiyan and picks up his warlord with his hungering blade. My Alaitoc Autarch moves forwards to go after the last rangers and dire avengers holding his flank. Tims turn sees his war walkers arrive and pick up a lot of guardians, and his reapers use their tempest launcher to kill off a lot of my reapers. His guardians come down into a forewarned and I pick up half of them, in return they pick up my warlord. I was really hoping that would be the last thing he shot so I could cheese a bit with the Ynnari rebirth strategem. Things are bit bleak here as I am starting to lose a lot of units and characters are getting a bit exposed.

My turn three is a disappointment as my psychic phase once again completely whiffs, failing most powers and having the couple that go off get denied. You have to understand that I’m talking +1 to cast on a 5 cast spell and failing it, then +1 on a 7 with a reroll and failing it, followed by 7 with +1 and failing it; etc. By this stage not much threatens reapers so they’re both pretty much just in the open. Our wave serpents go for the opposing reapers after our Marked for Death guardian remnants jump into wave serpents to avoid ceding points. My autarch picks up a unit of rangers with his grenades, then charges the dire avengers and fails to kill any. I believe I did some running and shooting with my fresher squad of guardians to get a lot of wounds on his farseer and other support, but leave them on 1 wound or so. I misplayed and put down some random rangers down. No real plan to be honest. Just mistakes.

Tim’s turn 3 is clean up and fighting, he charges into my ruin which has the objective in it (for bonus point) to fight my storm guardians and spirit seer. It goes relatively well for me, with my storm guardians surviving.

Turn 4 is quick and sees me trying to pick up points where I can. I pick off the farseer, use units in buildings to screen characters. His turn four he also picks up a few units but it’s a pretty close game at that point (I believe close to a tie) but we find an extra turn to play. I think I can win if I get a little bit of luck and pick up my final points. But unfortunately I am too far behind from my mistakes and also those two complete whiffs of psychic phase. We talk out the remaining turns to make sure Tim gets good points out of the win. He ends up on 25-16. At this point I am a little beat because it was a pretty unlucky game in a lot of ways for me, but really I should have been a lot more focused in my game plans.

Takeaways First of all it is as usual the Hemlock is a glass cannon against people with the correct tools. Finally, I gotta work on rolling better against my mate Tim. More seriously though, it’s becoming more and more apparent a single hemlock is not a great option. You really should be playing 2/3 or 0. One is just a big chunk of points that’s hard to take down but still vulnerable. Another take away from this game is that I needed to stop breaking screen and deploying my second guardians squad up the board. What I should have done was cleared out my own building and deep struck in there to avoid Forewarned, then moved them forward to be screen on the next turn. I also need to start planning turns in advance to clear out space for my deep strikes. It’s something I need to do to bring my play to the next level

Moving Forward At this point I am questioning what I should be doing with the Hemlock. I thought about it a lot in the context of the list and I find it doesn’t really make a lot of sense. The strength of the list is there’s no targets for big weapons except the Wave Serpent and Hemlock. The Wave Serpent’s job is basically to protect my Reapers from an alpha strike and tie things up, and it’s 134 points for that, and you can hide it. It’s very hard to hide a hemlock. With that in mind I also noticed as usual I was spending 2-6 CP a game to Autopass units. I desperately needed fearless, from either Will of Asuryan or... an Avatar of Khaine (or Ynnead). I am very tempted to just swap out the Hemlock for an Avatar. It is not the best unit but first of all it looks amazing, but second of all, there are a lot of good parts to it. The first is that it’s fearless bubble is 12 inches and it has a pretty large base, so you can cover a ton of ground with it. Second is that it is a close combat threat that can kill Knights relatively comfortably. Being a character as well, it is very hard to take down without killing all the guardians first (which isn’t going to happen). If you look back on game one, I had to play back from this guardsmen horde because I had to respect the knight’s charge. If I had an avatar ready there, being such a big scary model, they might stay away especially once I tell them what it can do in combat. Finally when they do charge their knight in, the Avatar can avoid death if they go for him with his 3 CP rebirth strategem, where he can fight them too. Then he can carve it up. Ogryns too, looking at a good 3-4 being cut down by Khaine’s Wrath!

Game 3: There’s not a lot to say about this game except that my opponent was also in the 0-2 bracket with his primaris army. He was a lovely opponent and just there for fun. I didn’t really enjoy playing this game but I did enjoy hanging out with him. Shoutout to Hamish. Anyway he played a Raven Guard/Phobos list with 2 Lascannon dreads, an autocannon dread, a thunderfire cannon, assassin, 5 man infiltrators and scouts, the new sniper dudes, and the hammer of his list being 6 inceptors and 3 more inceptors, then 3 of the autocannon jump dudes, along with characters to help them. I took recon, old school and marked for death on his dreadnaughts and the inceptor squad. I took word of the phoenix to heal my characters from sniper hits, which came up a lot, nice utility there. Anyway, the hemlock crushed this game, he kept trying to kill it... Anyway, psychic phase was always great, picking up whole units with smites and equivalents. The nail in the coffin was the forewarned intercept on his unit of 6 inceptors, picking up the whole squad. I had talked to him about it a lot but he felt like he didn’t really have the option to play around it. Rest of the game was just various characters and smites picking up units. I ended up tabling him (which is very hard for this list to do)

Takeaways: Primaris are in a rough spot against Dark Reapers and Hemlocks. Moving forward: I would probably feel better about playing this kind of game if I was playing an Avatar rather than a -3 to hit plane. At least then my opponent would see a cool model! End of Day 1: Finishing 1-2, quite disappointing. It was definitely a learning day in some ways, but in a lot of ways I was frustrated not really learning that much. I liked the list and felt like it worked pretty well. I was definitely thinking about playing yet another screening unit that I could just bring in turn three or so once the opponents lacked as much to be able to kill them with, such as Wraithguard/Grotesques or even an additional wave serpent. I wouldn’t feel good about a 3rd guardian bomb since they’re a bit pricey and... honestly I don’t want to paint and handle another 20 guardians every game. I have some good ideas for some wraithblade honor-guard type conversions, so maybe I’ll try those out. Unfortunately for Day 2, we got home around 9 where a loud party was going. I was able to sleep but my girlfriend wasn’t able to. I got woken up by the party getting even louder around 2 am, at which point I called the police. Of course, as I was on the phone, they closed up and went home. I then couldn’t sleep, instead thinking a lot about an Avatar, and other options. I got very little sleep and nearly overslept. Day 2: Game 4: I played against Jordan and his Custodes. We played a really tight game - his list was a custodes battalion (pure!) with Trajan, a shield captain on bike with all the buffs, 2 squads of 3 guard, a squad of 6 guard, 3 bikes, and two telemons, along with two vexilla magnifica to give a -1 to hit bubble to his units. For secondaries I picked Marked for Death on the Telemons, Captain and Bikes, then Gangbusters and Ground Control. He picked Recon, King of the Hill, and Headhunter. Deployment was pretty standard as I had a magic box to hide everything in and behind. He got turn one which was amazing for me as he came up the board towards me. Jordan punched straight through my Hemlock’s -3 to hit and easily took it out with his Telemon dreads. His forces all advanced up (literally) except his firebase. My turn one I jump out of the box to give screen to my characters. My characters go off with mortal wounds out the wazoo, doom and jinx the bikes, then the reapers pick them up. This game I was very weird about fire and fade and seemed to decide to do it/remember it at random. Anyway a sweet turn one sees me getting an easy kill more and denying his King of the Hill (for pretty much the whole game). Anyway, his turn two his guard squad come down inside that building in the middle of the table using the vexilla teleport homer. He gets a charge into my guardians and starts picking them up. My wave serpent plays the long game and gets to that big piece of terrain on the top right, my thinking being it can’t really hurt anything with its 8 shots hitting on 5s against a 2+ save, so it’s better to try and charge the telemons when he has to inevitably start moving forward with trajan.

Turn 2 for me is my second guardian blob coming in and doing not much to the custodes, my characters picking up a good couple. I had stayed in combat with them too, as I was hoping to go off and pick up the unit in psychic (not that unlikey, as I do about 8d3 mortal wounds not including super smites). I think I correctly ignored telemons and instead shot at custodians in general.

Trying to maintain a line against the custodes with characters and protected guardians... My favourite moment from the weekend! My Ynnari autarch was ready to go in super saiyan and start picking up Custodes, but unfortunately he fluffed and was promptly cut down by the combination of failed saves and the avenge the fallen strategem giving each custodes an extra few attacks. The shield captain came in and killed off one character I believe but promptly got firing squaded off the table by smites and the dark reapers. I messed up and forgot to fire and fade reapers, and he was able to get some with moving and firing, even at -3. With limited reapers I really couldn’t stop his final squad of custodes. It was a shame! This game I got back literally 0 of my 11 command points with my farmer autarch, which was very sad. A couple extra command points would have given me a big push later in the game. The game came down to turn 6 where I used my last turn advantage to fly over the wave serpent to contest his home objective, murder trajan with mortal wounds and other nonsense, then try and shoot off the last custodian guard squad for a final hold more. I placed some random rangers again that didn’t do anything, but if they’d gotten lucky I would have had a serious dash for objectives, and Jordan sent units after them, which worked out well for me. The game ended as a loss 21 points to 26.

Takeaways: When will I learn to fire and fade my reapers properly? Also, yet again I deep struck my guardians with no real target or anything. I should keep them for reserves. As it stands I can only protect (in sense of the english word and also the psychic power) one unit of guardians so the second one just gets picked up. Again the hemlock was a liability and provided him with one good target to take down on the first turn, while also being vulnerable to his shield captain, various smash captains and daemon princes, dark reapers and other nonsense. An avatar would have been quite sick in this game too, giving me back CP for fearless and also pitching into combat to really carve up those banana boys. Moving forward: I really have to start planning my deep strikes ahead of time. Start to think about the flow of the game and where I need to direct fire. Finally I also need better secondary selection. Marking the Telemon’s for death when there were much easier and safer targets to pick up with the reapers was a mistake. I should have picked something like Old School as his warlord was always going to be in my face and I have easy linebreaker with either skyleaping an Autarch or using my wave serpent. Listwise, I’m still into the Avatar but I’m also into using bigger units of rangers to secure recon and other uninteractive secondaries. I’m starting to think about stuff like Swooping Hawks just because their Skyleap is actually interesting - more importantly, thinking about Baharroth.

Game 5: Game 5 was a wash, I played against Necrons which I have never done before. Everyone warned me about the bomb and I deployed properly with all my characters spread out. So his list was 3 Doomsday Arks, 3 of the flying bread things with the bombs, some immortals for troops, a few characters, the bike dudes and I believe a cryptek. For secondaries I got Big Game Hunter, Recon (big mistake) and Old School.

All in all this game was actually pretty sick. My opponent used his Doomsday arks to pop the wave serpent, I had no idea it was possible to kill a wave serpent, and promptly wiped out the reapers, and also killed the screen of guardians completely. Losing first turn was devastating against his list, but I really should have tried to hide the wave serpent about where that big wall was on the bottom right. My mistake. Necrons also have this ability to give +1 to hit for their army which negated my Alaitoc and allowed him to go off with Tesla. Without my first turn buff ritual of Protect and Conceal, my guardians had to rely on 3+ save to keep them alive and it was not enough. Fortunately my hemlock went super saiyan this game and took over screen duty. I flamed and smote down a plane quite easily with my last two reapers supporting as best they could. I was thoroughly hemmed in but thanks to the hemlock repeatedly flying in circles, I was able to mostly screen my characters. In one phase I went absolutely off with the characters, completely smiting out a plane in one turn from 100% to 0%. However losing random units of rangers and having 0 board control meant I was just losing points and never achieving recon either. My Ynnari Autarch flew up to smash a flyer, then died, I tried to rez him, failed the 4+ and failed the reroll with my last CP. However, the game ended up pretty close and ended with just a thin layer of rangers and the hemlock between my characters in the literal corner. As I had last turn, I was able to fly over with the hemlock and reland my skyleaped autarch, to secure me linebreaker and if I had been able to pick up the unit of immortals (I killed a good 7), I believe I may have won this game despite everything, which is pretty insane if you think about it. The final score was 29 to 20 points.

Takeaways: Well, wave serpents are not invincible. I really should have respected the doomsday Arks, it was just an extremely long deployment and it was so far away I thought it was pretty much impossible for it to die. Now I know. Characters are great and unlike previous strategies I played with characters, all of these ones are quite good, even if yvraine is a bit overcosted. Hemlock is insane against some armies what with the -2/-3 to shoot at and decent save. I’m torn between dropping it or going to 2/3 of them. However that’s a lot of points and a completely different list. In the end very very few people play necrons with the bomber strat especially, so I’m not too concerned with this.

Moving forward: It would be a shame to warp my perception of how the list goes from this game. Honestly I think it may have been better to take that big section of terrain and just hide straight behind it with my whole army. Deep strike the autarchs, keep the characters a bit apart, and he has to actually hit the characters on a not favourable dice. Just wearing it instead of getting shot at by his whole army on turn one. Maybe even deep strike the guardians, put the wave serpent and hemlock a bit forward and line up my characters at the backline waiting for their turn two screen once the planes are no longer able to bomb. The Avatar would do much worse here but it’s not really the matchup I want to play for. There is an idea with using the Black Heart allies instead, Vect is a great strategem and with 13 or so CP + Walker of Many Paths farm, I have a good amount of CP to use with it.

Wrap up: Overall I went 1-4 which is objectively terrible. Really only was unlucky in one game against my mate Tim, so it’s all in play and list. I truly believe that this list has good legs, and when I was playing it it felt like I was doing something moderately busted. Fire and Fading reapers, unkillable guardians, 10+ mortal wounds a turn. Main thing I need to do is really start thinking turns in advance. Need to follow my own heart too, and stop overthinking. Just commit to the battleball and roll forward using smites and psychic to murder my opponents, consistently score points. It was a fun tournament, mainly because I got to go with friends. Highly recommend that!

My initial update to the list sees me swapping out the spiritseer and the hemlock for an avatar of khaine and a warlock. From there I might downgrade the wings off the Alaitoc Autarch, as he usually footslogs anyway, and the star glaive is a lot more useful than a power sword. There’s a trade off in that wings are useful and give me short charges with a banshee mask. However, with the Avatar, getting a free reroll on the charge makes that loss sting a little less. If I did that I could move to a fourth squad of rangers, or perhaps shift more things around, take a couple more storm guardians, then take a third blob of something or other. But for now the most immediate change is:

It’s actually a bit interesting to think about Will of Asuryan, as its a cheap easy cast for Eldrad, and does a quarter of the job I take the Avatar for. The main problem I see is not getting first turn and not getting it off and then it’s 2 CP. Not really what he wants to be doing either, as he wants to go for executioner for +1, trigger, get Doom with +2, then Smite with +2 for that super smite. I also think a lot about Yncarne to do the same thing but also give 6+++ and take over Yvraine’s role. It would be interesting. I don’t think it’s better because a big bonus of Guardians being Craftworlds is the Alaitoc bonus, Protect, Fortune and Conceal as well as Quicken. Even with Word of the Phoenix returning the weapon Platform and Shield of Ynnead for a 5++, I don’t think it would be as good. But I will give it a go.

Online Store Accelerator Review (Will Haimerl Course)

Today, we will dive into this course by Will Haimerl and see whether or not he’s offering you the only course you’ll need to build your business. If not, then you’re still saving money by skipping to the next candidate.

I’ve actually found positive comments about this course despite how it seems to be a short program, even though it’s priced at $997. Still, I decided to take a look for myself to verify what others were saying.

This course mainly focuses on diversification and (he claims) Google Ads. There’s also content on influencers and email marketing, plus some bonuses.

Who’s the author?

Will says he’s an online marketing expert, spanning more than 10 years of experience after starting with Google Adwords. He also claims to have trained more than 11,000 marketers via group coaching, personal training, and bootcamps.

He seems to put his words to the test by running several different online stores. He’s also clearly a close friend of Don Wilson, owner of one of the most significant product launches related to eCommerce back in 2018, and he’s also founded Gearbubble.com.

Will’s course is mostly about print-on-demand dropshipping, plus he recommends his students to use Gearbubble. However, the platform can be quite expensive for some, especially its premium package, so I have doubts on whether he does so because he likes the platform or because it from his friend.

Reviewing Royal Blueprint

As some may have predicted from their friendship, this course is quite similar to Don’s. However, Will does state that this isn’t a course for Gearbubble Pro because you can use whichever platform you prefer.

He just, you know, doesn’t teach you how.

One of the only differences is the Facebook private group. You receive access to the PPC Coach group, operated by Will. Another difference is how he focuses on Google Ads. However, that’s not saying much since you’re basically paying $997 for a course on Google Ads with content you could get for free.

This course hosts on Teachables. It’s a great platform in terms of responsiveness and intuitiveness. However, Will doesn’t mention refunds, and Teachables can be painful for those wanting a refund, so be careful.

The course is divided into 8 modules, each one covering a different subject, from starting out all the way to influencers and emailing.

Module 1

It’s your standard introduction to the course. You have a short video on the course, how to join the Facebook group, and he then dives into some content regarding the mindset you should have.

There’s a final video teaching you about getting started with your store.

Module 2

Her clothes normally consist of a black dress, long in length with purple flowers and red leafs near the collar to give it a colorful yet dark and dangerous look, the bottom of the dress coated in a red liquid sometimes dry sometimes wet, she refuses to answer what the liquid is and refuses to clean it up if she tracked it somewhere. Her other outfit is a red like dress that stands out a bit more, with a red hairband on her head to keep the pigtails relatively out of her face, with black peppering the red dress this outfit usually comes back either clean or entirely coated in the red liquids mentioned before.

The girl normally keeps a bit of hair over her left to hide the fact it was a different color than her right, though this is only when she wears the black dress, when she wears the red dress she openly shows her yellow left eye as if telling people something. She wears dark red shoes that were presumed to originally be black, but with the red fluids that followed her trail they had adapted the color from improper cleaning. Black fingernails on each hand that don’t change no matter what it was at first presumed to be her having a sickness, but even with advanced research it was just found to be her natural nail color. On the back of her right hand starts a scar with a snake head painted over it to make the scar look like a tongue and the paint trails up to the nape of her neck to a tail, that’s beside another painting on her body that trails down to her lower back and spreads out into a black and red flower that seems as if it was dripping down and making one red sword and one black sword on her rear.

Positive:

Friendly: Celia is a rather friendly girl who tends to be outgoing and always wanting to talk to others and improve her social, though this normally goes less like she wants it to.

Musically inclined: Celia is able to play the violin with great skill, this is normally how she would earn her money for food if she doesn’t go hunting monster down for her own food.

Always smiling: Even in the worst situation Celia can’t help, but smile. When people are in pain, when she is in pain, happy, sad, mad, anything she always smiles which encourages more hopeful thinking.

Hardworking: Celia works hard and will do anything required to make money by killing things since it is her favorite activity.

Risk and Reward: Celia, though enjoying killing things the most she, likes the system of quests and will obey the risk reward system going as far as to get several mobs of small enemies to kill at one time to entice more risk to make her reward worth her trouble.

Slightly violent: If someone annoys her Celia is very likely to at the very least slap them, she doesn’t like attacking people, but her wants won’t stop her if you annoy her too much, and she will smile while she does it!

Selfish: Celia doesn’t do quests that don’t personally benefit her and sees helping others just to help others as a burden on her life and would rather kill the people to take ALL of their worries away claiming “It’ll only hurt a lil bit!”

Hard to understand: In her language Celia tends to use terms which are presumed to mainly be unknown by the people (though it will be british slang if anyone is wondering what it is)

Bloodlust: Celia has a craving to see the red liquids strewn across the ground and not care who the victim was be it person, animal, or rare species.

Anti-Hero: No matter the what the girl seems bent on killing and/or attacking any hero that gets near her when she is in the mood to fight. Her ultimate goal in the end is to at the very least level the city’s guild to destroy its hope.

Opening her eyes Celia found nothing but darkness around her, she looked into the void of nothingness and simply blinked as she floated, on what felt like water but with a more thick warmness, Celia closed her eyes until a voice called her. Reacting on it’s own to the voice Celia was forced from the void and flat onto her face in a red painted room her exposed body hit by the cold air rather quickly. Shaking her head she stood up her head dazed by what had just happened, but what did just happen? Celia looked around seeing a circle and empty vials on the floor and a table in the middle of the room that a simple red blanket on, and a pod with a cold like air seeping from it, walking over to the table Celia picked up the red blanket and felt the soft fabric…but what was that? How did she know that feeling? What was “Soft?” Celia didn’t know how to describe it, but she picked it up covering her body with it, it may be hardly any cloth, but it was better than having her entire body exposed to the world around her, not that she minded it.

Now covered in the red blanket Celia walked to open the door at the other side of the room and once she opened it she was blinded by something she had never seen before, it was a giant ball of fire i sky the blinded her everytime she looked up. In this blind daze she wondered out of the doorway and into the small village that surrounded it, she managed to walk up the stairs and onto a little stage that had been set up. Once in the middle of the stage Celia recovered her vision finding bars in front of her and all around her, she hadn’t walked onto a stage, she had walked into a cage which she was now trapped in. Grabbing onto the bars she shook them as the people laughed at her, she was being advertised to be demonic attraction people poking and prodding her with sticks throwing round spheres that burst into chunks and juices that burned when it got into her eyes. Cleaning her eyes with cloth she sat down and just let people poke her, harder and harder they got it started to hurt just to move, soon a group of adventures approached the stage and demanded they let her out. Being happy to be let out Celia ran up to thank the people for freeing her, but instead of letting her shake their hands they drew weapons on her, a holy sword made of light, a wound with a cross, and bow with arrows made of energy. An instinct hit Celia at that moment where her only thought was “RUN IDIOT!”

Celia made a bolt for the outside of town she left only dark footprints on the ground as she ran, she ran though the field into the next city where she instantly got odd looks for being so underdressed. Celia could sense them following her, so using the area to her advantage she got lost in the crowd, losing the adventures only lead her to something more humiliating than being trapped in a stationary cage. It took only a moment for it to happen, the hand around her throat the cloth in her mouth to keep her from screaming as she was dragged to a waggon and thrown into the back and locked inside. Celia banged on the door for a few solid hours until she fell back from feeling the cart moving, Celia could feel the tears running down her face, from one humiliating situation to the next Celia was dragged from city to city as the one foolish demonic girl, though was she a demon? They had no proof, and she wouldn’t show, because she didn’t know, heck she didn’t even know how to speak. Eventually, weeks later, her captors got sick of this and dragged her out for what was supposed to be a public execution because she wasn’t listening she was pushed up to a wall and held there as they sharpened a sword.

As Celia was held they picked up the sword and first stabbed her her leg, Celia’s eyes shot open as she let out a whale of pain feeling the blood run down her leg though she spoke no words. Next they grabbed her right arm cutting it clean off making her scream even louder tears streaming down her face at this point as the man lifted the blade to her neck. Celia shook her head as they held her by her stomach putting the blade up to her neck, Celia felt the cold steel against her skin as it slid across her neck she could feel the blood seeping from it as the sword moved cleaning across her throat. Celia’s body trembled in fear as her head got fuzzy, her vision blurred from blood loss and once released Celia dropped to the ground in a pool of her own blood with eyes wide open looking at the people who just watched the presumed demon bleed to death in front of them. The image was stuck in her mind like a clear day, the people’s faces as they stood there watching the girl bleed onto the ground none of them were concerned that the men may have murdered an innocent girl. They stood unfazed some even enjoying the sight of the girl laying there in dying pain, Celia’s last thoughts were about how cruel and unfair the world was, she had just woken up from that void and now she was on the brink of death.

A voice rung in her mind saying “Do you want to live? Do you want power to make them pay?” Calia couldn’t respond with a voice, but with all of her mind she screamed yes, Celia wanted to live, she wanted a future. With a flash of red light Celia could feel her breath returning to her body as a searing pain filled her, the movements she gave in reaction only made the wounds spurt more blood onto the ground around her. Her own severed arm dissolved into darkness and flowed into her body and it took only moment for her neck and leg to completely heal, using her left arm as a stabilized lift Celia stood up, a look of anger in her face. Celia stood there, a girl with fatal injuries healed in an instant, another wave of pain strick her body as the sever arm bursted out into a demonic hand with ruptures of blood onto the surrounding people. Celia moved, almost instantly to the man that had cut her with the sword ramming her sharp demon clawed hand through the man’s stomach and out the other side to stab the man partner in the side. Pulling her arm out quickly she flung blood onto the audience as they watched the demonic action in shock, then she turned towards them with only one thought in mind, “I’LL KILL THEM ALL! YOU WATCHED AS WRITHED IN PAIN NOW I’LL SEE YOUR FACES DISTORT IN THE SAME!” Celia rushed to the first person cutting their neck clean open with her claw and grabbing another stabbing both of that womans legs and leaving her to bleed out in pain, she moved to quickly swipe the arms off of several of the people there. There were about ten people left and now Celia was going berserk, she wanted to see more blood for what they had done to her, more blood for the ignorance, more more more! Wanting to cause much more pain Celia was gifted a new toy by her master, a scythe one as black as her hair, her scythe as sharp as it could be. With one quick swipe she cut all ten peoples heads off and destroyed the buildings behind them, getting advised on how she should use her powers she destroyed the town and everyone in it making sure to leave no trace of it.

Taking a few leaves from the town and a few pieces of tattered clothes from destroyed home Celia put together a black dress and put it on, it seemed to fit perfectly. Celia walked and walked and walked she hadn’t come upon a town in about three days, but it was obvious someone was on her trail and that was not going to be good. The person eventually caught up to Celia and drew his weapon, Celia hid her demon hand beneath bandages and materialized her scythe, the fight was rough and scarring for both of them, but in the end Celia ended up destroying the sword of light the man held, and well, Watching as the body exploded into dark matter and flowed into her healing her wounds and the sword doing the same but flowing into her scythe. Her weapon gave off a small glow as the energy slowly moved into the scythe and her arm. In an instant her scythe had vanished just as quickly as it absorbed the body, though the battle had taken a toll on her body and brushed her to the brink of exhaustion. Celia stumbled her breathing was separated by long breaths as she tried to regain the breath that had been knocked out her during the battle.

After a few minutes of walking she fell forward because of oxygen deprivation, her vision first went black, but in almost an instant she opened her eyes with a loud gasp of air. She was laying in a bed with white sheets over it, looking around quickly she found it was day and the plant life outside was very lush and thriving, but between her and it was some kind of forcefield that felt cold yet fragile. Giving it a good punch she broke it with a loud shattering noise turning whatever it was into black energy to heal the wounds that was a direct result of the action. Moments later a person rushed up to the room to check the noise to find her standing there with a blank look. Celia finally noticed she was wearing white clothing that had a bit of red splattered on it now, the person asked if Celia was alright, Celia wanted to answer but opening her mouth gave no words at all. Cleia looked down at her bandaged right arm it seemed the bandages held through the trip of whoever brought her here, Celia assumed it was the woman that lived in the house.

The person simply gave a nod and lead Cleia around town and introduced her to the people of the small town, while looking at the city as if a flicker of a vision Celia saw the fields and houses on fire and red stains soaking the ground. The most Celia could call these visions was “beautiful” it was something she wanted to see, something in her body was telling her to destroy and murder, but they would be of some use first. After the next few weeks Celia learned to talk from the villagers and she got accustomed to the way of living while having the woman take care of her. While living in the town she learned how to summon her scythe and use it as quickly as she could combined with kicks and her environment to get the upperhand in battle. Though she was told to avoid areas where dark energy was starting to spread and grow stronger, of course these were areas where Celia was drawn and always went to with each area she corrupted she grew stronger. A few days later Celia noticed her scythe glowing a bright red glow on the blade and the snake paint on her hand gave a red glow as well, and as if it was calling for what she wanted…it started.

From the field Celia walked into the town, the sky had turned dark the moment her weapon and tattoo started to glow, she walked with weapon drawn and smirk on her face. A farmer had approached her to welcome her back like they normally did and with a single swing of her scythe the man fell to the ground cut in half, looking over the now horrified villagers she pressed her foot to man’s head until it bursted and the blood turned into dark energy. Raising her scythe she gave a swing sending a sharp wave of dark energy coursing through the town cutting off limb after limb of the villagers and turning the remains of the cut off limbs into dark energy to feed her. Soon a sharp pain soon wracked her arm as the cloth bandages exploded into shreds exposing the abnormally large demon hand, with yet another burst of blood, holding her scythe in her left hand against her arm with a loud maniacal laugh. Moving over Celia found the person who had housed her for the duration of her stay, looking at the person who was missing an arm and bleeding onto the ground Celia only smiled as she picked them up with the claws of her demon hand by ther persons head. Giving a creepy look Celia started to squeeze the person’s head blood starting to run down the person’s neck…one…two…three then a loud smash and piercing sound filled the air as the claws sunk through the skin the blood sinking in through her skin as she dropped the body.

Celia went through the rest of village killing and destroying everything until the town was leveled and walked to the next doing the same, but making the villagers suffer, after using them to learn more about the people. Though after a few towns seeing the villagers suffering became boring, Celia quickly became uninterested with killing people this week, she always found herself in the same situation as before with a broken down village and the same cries for help. Celia started to spare a few towns from the destruction by moving past them and not minding them, while passing through a town Celia heard about a city one with an established guild for stability, defense, and help. Something in her mind was going off, “go there” there it was telling here, a new challenge was presenting itself and she wanted to take it, no way they were stronger than her. Traveling to the town was easy, though like normal her plan was going to come first, she was going to suck every bit of info she can from the city, though she had never been in a big city before. Just by inspecting the people of the town she assumed they would be the same level as usual, but those were just the civilians, the real challenge would come when she entered the guild. Immediately she could feel the presence of the guild members most powerful and she couldn’t help but feel the excitement rise in her chest, but she couldn’t remain she would be found out. So she left raised money by using her skills to her advantage and purchased a room at the Tavern to stay at when she didn’t camp in the fields.

Negative energy absorption: While walking among the town’s member Celia is able to absorb the negative feelings ridding the people of the city of their bad feelings when she is near, this also help her because she needs this energy to survive

Weapon manifestation: Celia can summon a scythe made from pure dark energy and negativity from what appears to be out of nowhere

Demon claw: Celia is able to summon a demon claw on her right arm, this arm holds a highly destructive power that Celia is somewhat unaware of but she learns more everyday

Specific Powers/Abilities/Traits of Note:

Dark matter-Healing: By dismembering her enemies Celia is able to heal the wounds she received by absorbing the feelings of regret the target has when it loses a limb

Dark matter-Transfer: Celia is able to reanimate her fallen opponents for a period of time until they vaporize into complete dark matter and be of no further use to her.

Overwhelming spirit summoning: Using the dark matter provided by her demon claw Celia learned to summon the regrets of her fallen victims and use them to trick her opponent into losing focus by saying various regrets to get them focused on the past rather than the moment

Dark matter-Benediction: Using the dark matter as a shield Celia is able to protect herself and any ally she had near her at the time, presuming she doesn’t turn on them

Demon injectors: Using the claws from her demon hand Celia shoots the tips of her claw into near by animals and shift them into demon versions of themselves to wreck havoc on the area around them.

Dark matter-Explosion: Dropping off a ball of pure dark energy then making it explode in an area Celia uses this to decimate an entire area and make safe heavens for her thralls and servants.

Dark matter-Enhancement: By killing her opponent Celia is able to enhance the power in her weapon and demon claw by absorbing the dark matter into transferable energy

Dark matter-Ray: Using the demonic power of her claw Celia is able to shoot off a beam of darkness in a straight line along the ground that explodes upwards in a fiery torrent of destruction that burns the area of the ground near it.

Demon claw-Missiles: Jumping high into the air and suspending herself with dark matter she uses consecutive Ray blasts to rain death upon anything below her and make the areas hit into demon spawners.

Dark matter- Summoning (Low): Using the energy on a quickly casted summoning spell allows Celia to summon minions from the demon realm to aid her in a fight if she deems necessary

Dark matter- Summoning (Medium): Taking about ten minutes Celia uses a small summoning circle added with dark energy to summon clones of herself with only physical attack abilities

Dark matter- Summoning (Large): Using a summoning circle as big as her old town and a great amount of dark matter Celia is able to summon a large demon for a complete hour and cause mass destruction along a certain predetermined path.

Dark matter- Summoning (Max-Urgent warning: Do not let her use this at any time!): Using a summoning circle as big as Dahlthir in it’s entirety will summon an great entity bent on destroying everything in it’s sight and then more until there is nothing left to destroy, presumably this is the power of the demon king himself. Note: Using this kind of spell even with a city of overwhelming negativity will kill the user. The demon king does not appear for no reason a sacrifice must be made.

Extra: Though being an Anti-Hero by classification Celia enjoys the company of heros near her, though she refuses to join the guild, because she knows what she is and she knows what will happen if she lets her guard down.

Cleia can not change into a dragon, and if asked if she’s ever tamed a dragon she will respond, “I don’t tame dragons, i devour them!”
