random domestic headcanons:

1. alhaitham will never dogear any book. he hates it when ppl do it too. when they were students, kaveh did it in front of him once and he went on an irritated rant about how it was bad to dogear books and how it was damaging the pages. it was and still is the longest kaveh had ever hear him talk in one sitting.

2. his favourite bookmark is the very first drawing that kaveh had given him. it's a drawing of a sumeru rose, nothing special about it (in fact, it was a bit wonky here and there). the paper was soft from touch, the ink slightly blurry, and the edges a bit yellowed before alhaitham finally got it laminated.

3. they tend to buy hygiene products in bulk once a month and groceries biweekly. when kaveh first moved in, they had separate soaps and shampoo, but somewhere along the way, they just buy and use the same things. when they finally got together, alhaitham is obsessed with how different the scent is on kaveh's skin and buries his nose on kaveh's nape any chance he gets at home.

4. kaveh's in charge of morning coffee while alhaitham's in charge of breakfast. it's always a simple affair because neither of them like anything heavy first thing in the morning. they only eat breakfast so they don't drink coffee on an empty stomach.

5. kaveh usually cooks for lunch because his schedule is so much more flexible than alhaitham's. he eats lunch early, packs a lunchbox and drops it off on alhaitham's desk whenever he's not too busy with commissions. if alhaitham is in his office at lunch, they chat as alhaitham eats. whenever kaveh isn't able to cook lunch, he lets alhaitham know.

6. dinner always varies. sometimes it's some takeout that either of them bring home, alhaitham cooks if he's home first, kaveh cooks late if he's working from home, or sometimes they cook together. (the last one is rare because they can't stop distracting each other with a teasing remark or chaste kisses. dinner is always a bit later than usual whenever they cook together.)

7. mehrak is always cooperative as an assistant caretaker whenever one of them is sick. kaveh can rave and whine all he likes about how "can't take a day off now, i have deadlines!" but mehrak will always alert alhaitham whenever kaveh gets too close to his desk. on the other hand, alhaitham can't even touch a book when he's supposed to be resting without mehrak beeping loudly to tattle to kaveh.

8. speaking of mehrak, sometimes it will sit with alhaitham as he reads on the divan. alhaitham would absentmindedly traces his dendro energy for mehrak. kaveh can always tell right after because of how his own energy intertwined with alhaitham's around mehrak's casing.
