I was bored so I did this for vanlock lol
Tumblr media
In summary, these two are polar opposites in most areas, so they complement each other quite well IMO. If you wanna see more of my brainrot, read my vanlock fic on AO3 :D
For explanations + extra headcanons, keep reading (MAJOR SPOILERS FOR DGS2):
Barok being 4 inches/9 cm taller makes me think that he has to be the big spoon by default, at least most of the time. That’s also why I thought he was slightly more likely to lend his clothes to Herlock. Also Herlock likes to steal Barok’s cape and pretend to be a vampire.
Herlock canonically calls Barok, “Mr. Reaper” in the games. I don’t know if that counts as a pet name, but it’s the perfect mixture of playful and insulting which I think encapsulates their dynamic pretty well.
One thing some people might not realize is that the original depiction of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle is canonically queer. Yeah, it’s explicitly stated that Sherlock isn’t into women so none of that queerbaiting shit with Johnlock (looking at you Moffat) which is pretty progressive for the late 1800s. Many people speculate Sherlock to be aroace, and since I’m aroace, I like to believe Herlock Sholmes is also on the spectrum.
Obviously, the previous point ties into the horny levels. In my mind, Herlock constantly craves affection, both emotional and physical, but that doesn’t always translate to desiring sexual intimacy. It shifts frequently, much like his moods. Hence, the aceflux orientation. Barok’s horny level is more straightforward, which is the only straight thing about him lmao.
Barok gives off the vibe of a deeply repressed homosexual man with religious trauma, you can’t change my mind. That played a factor into some of my decisions with the sliders, especially his little relationship experience and dislike of PDA.
They’re from Victorian era London there are no cars lmao
I think it is canon that Herlock sucks at cooking or at least it’s heavily implied by the fact that his ten year old daughter does all the cooking. But he’s gotta be somewhat better than Barok who was raised in nobility and has likely never touched a stove in his life.
Barok isn’t scared of bugs (he’s been through much scarier things) but he also doesn’t like squashing them because it gets his expensive shoes dirty. Herlock screams about bugs not because he’s scared of them, but because he gets excited and wants to use them for his inventions.
I think some people might assume Barok is more overprotective since that’s what his character archetype typically falls under, but I’d argue that Herlock is far more overprotective, even to a fault. I mean, he kept so many secrets for ten whole years just to protect his daughter from the pain of knowing her biological father was a mass murderer. Also, he went all the way to Asia to prevent Kazuma from getting assassinated even though he’d never met the man. I rest my case.
The awkwardness level could be changed honestly. While Barok is an introvert, he’s also a highly skilled prosecutor so he is good at public speaking. On the other hand, he is probably terrible at socializing beyond polite conversations with coworkers since he likely doesn’t have friends other than Albert. Meanwhile, Herlock does and says a lot of awkward things, but he isn’t embarrassed about it in the slightest.

Note
Barok getting roped into a Dance of Deduction by Herlock while out on an investigation. Either as the subject of the dance, or Herlock's dance partner.
Of Death & Deductions
Notes: Sorry it's taken me so long to get around to this one, anon - it's such an amusing premise and I've been trying to think of the best way to deliver it! Hopefully this offering is alright!
Content Warnings: Herlock. Sholmes.; Tia tries to create a Logic & Reasoning Spectacular; tries is the operative word...; I'm sorry Capcom.
"Mr. Reaper!"
Herlock announced his presence loudly and with dramatic flair as he threw himself through the Prosecutor's (thankfully open) window and rolled along the floor before hopping up to a stand before the man's desk.
". . ."
Barok was quietly penning a letter to the Attorney General's Office at the time, and his pen did not even flinch at the sudden appearance of the irksome detective. Instead, he ignored his 'guest' (lit. intruder) and continued with his work.
"What? No welcome?! Not even a cry of shock!? I'm disappointed... clearly I must redouble my efforts," Herlock folded his arms while looking thoughtful.
"... A novel suggestion," Barok said, not looking up from his letter, "But perhaps try the door next time and, shockingly, maybe arrange an appointment?"
Herlock arched an eyebrow, "That's far too boring, my good fellow!"
"Ah yes..." having finished his letter, Barok set the quill down and powdered the paper so the ink would take hold, "Silly me," he folded it in half, slipped it into an envelope and proceeded to seal it with wax, "... Fine. Why are you here?"
"I'm SO glad you asked! There has been a murder most foul not far from here, I wondered if you might wish to accompany me to the scene!"
Barok arched an eyebrow, wondering why the detective had come here to inform him rather than a policeman. Still, it would be remiss of him to ignore the problem, "Why didn't you say that sooner?"
"I've said it at the appropriate time, now let us be off ── posthaste!"
──────≪⊰✥⊱≫───────
They arrived at Madam Tusspells in record time and went into the 'Law and Order' exhibition, where a number of prominent figures from the world of law were preserved in wax forever more - including Lord van Zieks himself.
He paid his own waxwork no heed, even though the corpse was collapsed before it.
"Now, dear fellow, everything is ready and thus it is time!"
"Time for what?" Barok asked, peering at the detective.
"Why!" Sholmes held up a finger and smiled, "Time for the main attraction that is Herlock Sholmes's 'Logic and Reasoning Spectacular'!!"
"... huh?"
𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔯𝔢𝔞𝔱 𝔇𝔢𝔡𝔲𝔠𝔱𝔦𝔬𝔫
..... The game is afoot!
𝔗opic 1: the victim's identity
Sholmes (somehow) casts a spotlight upon the corpse, "Firstly, we must consider the man's attire. He does not appear to be wearing a uniform that would identify him as a member of staff. The fact he is wearing a suit might point toward him being a member of the nobility, but no! Look at how ill-fitting his suit is and how he clearly ignores all good and proper fashion trends. Clearly this man is an undercover police officer!"
"Let me stop you there," Barok interjected, already annoyed by the monologue, "This man clearly is not a police officer."
"Oh ho! So the reaper waits for no one! You wish to correct my deductions ad lib? Well... it's unconventional, but very well Mr. Reaper! What's wrong with my deduction?"
"This," Barok held up a business card, "The man is a fine arts dealer by the name of Maurice De Lioncourt. It would appear he is here on a visit from France, given that he also has his passport on his person with corresponding details."
"Oh ho! Well, yes, that wraps this topic up rather nicely!" Sholmes exclaimed.
ℭonclusion: the man is an undercover policeman a fine arts dealer by the name 'Maurice de Lioncourt'!
"Onward, then! To the second deduction!"
"Do we have to?" Barok muttered.
Apparently the answer to that was a resounding yes--
𝔗opic 2: the cause of the victim's demise
"So that leaves but one mystery for us to unravel, my dour friend! How did this poor visitor to our shores meet his untimely end?! I believe the truth of the matter is plain as day and incredibly shocking!"
Barok sighed, knowing full well the answer was about to be mangled into some nonsensical drivel by the 'Great Detective', "... Do tell."
"It is obvious that this man is a thrill seeker! Those who deal in fine arts clearly enjoy the heart pounding terror that comes with purchasing works and not knowing whether they've secured a genuine article or a terrible fake! With that devil may care attitude, our poor victim came to the Madame Tusspells Museum of Waxworks with the intention of being entertained -- but clearly he got more than he bargained for when he came face to face with the terrifying visage of a real life vampire! The horrifyingly pallid and dour face no doubt sent him into the throes of a most awful shock, causing him to suffer a most sharp and unmistakably fatal heart attack!"
"OBJECTION!" Barok snarled, "Are you truly going to suggest that the man, upon seeing a wax work of me, went on to suffer a heart attack?!"
"Indubitably my good fellow! Yours is a face that strikes fear into the hearts of hardened criminals! Think what it would do to an innocent museum goer!"
"This ... is ridiculous!" Barok hissed as he glowered at the detective, "Your narrative is full of holes!"
"Oh ho is that so? Then do feel free to point out where I've gone wrong, good fellow!"
"First of all, you claim the man is a thrill seeker who enjoys being terrified but this is NOT the 'House of Horrors' where one would go to be thusly terrified! This is the Law and Order exhibit!"
"Well perhaps this terrifying waxwork of a vampire has been mistakenly placed in the Law and Order exhibition?" Holmes opined.
"It's a waxwork of ME, man! And I am not a vampire!" Barok shot back indignantly.
"I fear the jury is out on that one, Mr. Reaper, but I suppose it's true enough that you are a Prosecutor so your waxwork might well be placed in the Law and Order exhibit. Pray tell, then, if you claim this man did not suffer a fatal heart attack upon laying his eyes on your most formidable and imposing visage, what did kill him?"
"Oh I wonder... Perhaps the knife in his back?!"
ℭonclusion: the man suffered a heart attack upon seeing Prosecutor van Zieks' face was stabbed in the back with a knife!
𝔇𝔢𝔡𝔲𝔠𝔱𝔦𝔬𝔫 ℭ𝔬𝔪𝔭𝔩𝔢𝔱𝔢!
....... Elementary!
"And thus concludes Herlock Sholmes's 'Logic and Reasoning Spectacular'!" Herlock announced proudly, before sighing and looking dismayed, "I have to say, Mr. Reaper, you make for a rather woeful dance partner... your sense of decorum is quite shot! I shan't be in a hurry to invite you to take part in one of my Deduction Dances."
"Good, never darken my door again and call the police for God's sake man!" Barok snarled, before stalking out of the museum and directly into a Hansom, "To the Prosecutor's Office, good man, and send the bill to 221B Baker Street."
Sholmes sighed as he watched other man leave, "... Truly I do miss that brilliant young man... come back to London soon, Mr. Naruhodo!"

Please tell us your Thots on Barok and Gina for the ask game!
I'm going to do Gina first bc. you'll see.
Gina
Sexuality Headcanon: Bi as well as demiace/demiaro
Gender Headcanon: Girl but also in a v loose sorta agender sense. I think it really boils down to - she honestly just doesn't care. Being gendered is fine, not being gendered is also fine, but she doesn't feel strongly either way
A ship I have with said character: Goulstrade! Ginasusa & ginasusahao are also noice, but I don't have any preference here
A BROTP I have with said character: I already mentioned her siblinghood with Iris when answering previous ask, but Kazuma worsties are the funniest thing I've seen in some time and I love it. Also her found-family-ism with Herlock is super cute and just...!!
A NOTP I have with said character: Can't rly think of anything specific, so just apply the same NOTP rule as Susato
A random headcanon: Ever since she was v young she loved horses and when she had a chance she would sneak out even to just look at horsies. Even now she hopes one day the Scotland Yard will asign her a horse (or she manages to buy one)
General opinion: V good character, but divines i wish she had more screentime!! One of my faves ever since my first playthrough and yall make me like her even more <3
And now. Barok my... yes <3 (anon what did you do. now i wont shut up for a week)
Barok
Sexuality Headcanon: Aspec first and foremost. He's definitely grayace with strong leaning on ace, but what flavoring of aro is he? Nobody knows and certainly not him. Don't even ask him what gender he likes, he'll bluescreen
Gender Headcanon: Guy... maybe. I think he never really questioned it bc he didnt need to, but at the same time he also wasn't raised with strict gender roles so he has a vague understanding of what a 'man' even is. Also considering everything that happened in his life gender is just so, so low on his thinking-about list. I can absolutely see him just realising he's agender as well as being just guy[tm] and everything in between.
A ship I have with said character: Vanlock my beloved,,,,, thank you for making me rotate them in my mind again (I mean this in a good way!). Both Barok & Herlock are such strong personalities that I can't help but love it. There are just so many aspects of them that i love!! Starting from the very surface level opposites (sad vampire - essentially a sunshine) to the more complex stuff like the fact that they're balanced just right to be able to find support and solace in each other without one of them auto devolving into a 'i-can-fix-them' state. I mean it - at the very core they're both flawed or even broken people. Barok's is just way more visible because he's all 'mysterious' and angsty and Herlock is mostly masking it with being silly. Anyway if I write any more this will turn into an essay,,, Also DLC case English side my beloved
A BROTP I have with said character: Aside from the canon friendship with Albert probably Runo post-canon whatever kinda friendship thing they have going on. I mean with how big-hearted Runo is and with Barok showing that he can change & repent for being, well, collosal asshole I can easily see them being friends. I can imagine something similar for Susato but she should be allowed to throw him to the ground first
A NOTP I have with said character: Him and Kazuma is probably the clearest "no" for me. Worsties turned cordial turned maybe eventual friends sure, but I feel like there is too much grievances and trauma between them to result in any sorta healthy relationship
A random headcanon: You even wondered how he's still so flexible? Barok is still practising ballet. In secret of course!
General opinion: Easily one of my favorite DGS charas and by a landslide my favorite prosecutor (I know my avatar say otherwise lol). He's incredibly complex and honestly I just have a soft spot for characters that are just so trauma ridden. I have opinions about that part of his arc and I would just rewite it to hating Asogi's specifically and Runo by extension since they're associated/friends. But at the end of the day and what really solds Barok to me is that he shown that despite being fucking awful he can change. He's not an immovable rock, he can understand being wrong, hell, he can apologise. Try to be better person. I can't help but adore that But yeah he absolutely should have his ass handed to him once or few times, no denying that (I could say also much more but divines I really dont want this to turn into an essay lol)

Vampire van Zieks AU. Contains major spoilers for both games, do not read unless you have finished both of them.
I've seen a few vampire AUs around so I thought I would share my idea.  In this AU the Van Zieks are all vampires, yes that makes Iris a Dhampir. Klint and Barok were born as a vampires, and they’ve had to keep this a secret from everyone. Klint becomes a prosecutor, working under Lord Strongheart. Eventually, Strongheart finds out that his apprentice is a vampire. He confronts Klint on this matter, threatening to expose what the Van Zieks are unless he becomes his assassin. Klint realizes he has no choice, but to go along with Strongheart’s orders. If he refuses, he’ll expose his family, and put Barok and his unborn child at risk. He can’t allow anyone to hunt his family down, so he begrudgingly accepts Strongheart’s orders. The only good thing about this is, Klint’s victims are all corrupt immoral individuals who deserve to be tried for their crimes. Klint is unable to kill Lord Strongheart. Strongheart is an individual with a lot of authority, only someone serving very close to him under his ranks could murder him. Not only that, but Lord Strongheart has told a few of his associates/assassins (Jezaille Brett, Sheshiro Jigoku, and possibly Tobias Gregson. I haven’t decided on him yet) about Klint Van Zieks true nature. If Klint was to kill Strongheart, they would immediately know it was him. Strongheart tells Klint this so Klint will not kill him, but Klint has no idea who these people are. Klint decides to kill his victims by using his dog Balmung to rip their throats out. He decided it would be better to kill them in a non-vampiric way. If he ripped their throats out with his own fangs, Barok, and Lady Baskerville would instantly know the crime was committed by a vampire. They would instantly know Klint was the culprit.  Everyone outside of the Van Zieks household apart from Lord Strongheart (and his associates) are unaware as to what they really are. I don’t want to separate Herlock and Iris, so Herlock is Iris’s honorary uncle in this AU. Klint and Herlock are very good friends, because Herlock helped solve an important case years early. Herlock regularly visits his good friend Klint, and his daughter Iris. Iris looks up to Herlock. She enjoys hearing about his cases so much so that she turns them into books The Adventures of Herlock Sholmes. Their relationship is similar to how it is in the game. Genshin also lives in this AU. He doesn’t get shot by Judge Jingoku when he tries to escape from like he does in the original continuity of the games. Instead, he retains his friendship with the Van Zieks family even after he returns home to Japan. As the years pass, Genshin’s son Kazuma meets Klint Van Zieks, and he becomes an uncle like figure to him. Kazuma really looks up to Klint and he wants to become a prosecutor like him someday. He moves to London, with his Susato, and his best friend Ryunosuke. Kazuma, asked Ryunosuke to come with him to London, since he has the makings of a great attorney. Klint is honored that Kazuma wants to study under him, but he doesn’t think it’s the best idea if Kazuma is his official apprentice. After all Klint is still Strongheart’s puppet, he does not want Kazuma to get involved in these nefarious schemes. Klint decides to ask his brother, prosecutor Barok Van Zieks if he can be Kazuma’s official mentor. Barok agrees to this, though he finds it strange that Klint doesn’t take Kazuma as his own apprentice. Klint tells him that some of the cases he deals with are too advanced for a newcomer to handle. This answer makes sense to Barok and he doesn’t question anything else. Lord Strongheart allows Ryunosuke to become a defense attorney, he needs someone who isn’t scared of facing off against the Reaper in court. And Ryunosuke is one of the few people who isn’t afraid of doing so. When Ryunosuke defends Magnus McGilded, he meets Barok for the first time in court. Ryunosuke just can’t shake the feeling that something is off about this man. He tries to ignore this feeling, but he can’t. It gets worse when he meets Klint Van Zieks. There’s just something about Klint that isn’t right, he has no idea what it is though. He finds out the Van Zieks only work at night, which is strange. It makes Ryunosuke wonder if they are doing something suspicious in the daytime.  And maybe at some point Ryunosuke gets involved in a secret court that only deals with supernatural cases.
This is still a work in progress and I haven’t worked out all of the details yet.

I finished The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles so I can scream now. My favorite things:
(OBVIOUSLY THERE ARE SPOILERS, TREAD CAREFULLY)
- Herlock Sholmes has eaten soap
- Me and my assistant breaking and entering random crime scenes, getting caught in the middle of pulling open drawers, and then forcing the person who caught us to stand and glower from the corner while we investigate everything and make smart-ass comments that are fully audible to everyone in the room
- Bonus shout-out to Barok van Zieks for glaring at us the whole time we were in his office and interrupting our smart-assery to yell at our nonsense--ALL after he’d already told us to GTFO. Love it
- honestly, Barok van Zieks was great. Over-dramatic racist vampire bastard, loved him, loved his growth and the fact that he was always always a fair opponent in court who played by the rules and wanted justice done above-board. And threw a whole ass bottle of wine into the gallery every three minutes
- ALSO Barok van Zieks having a mad scientist as his best friend--and the mad scientist insisting that Barok was a kind and gentle person in college?? and, in a later case, you get an old photograph of Barok smiling?? And you hear about how close he and Asogi were before shit hit the fan and how much he admired Asogi and how Asogi SAVED HIS LIFE. The TRAGEDY of this man.
- Mikotoba’s tap dancing!!!
- And tbh it’s so lovely that the whole game, you’re constantly correcting Herlock’s deductions and it’s a total (fun) mess, and then you have the deduction with Mikotoba and it goes so smoothly, like this is the two of them in perfect synchronicity, this is how well they work together, and it’s so lovely. This is how the Dance of Deduction is supposed to go!! It’s a DANCE, and up until this point, you’ve only ever seen Herlock dance it with the WRONG partner.
- the tie on Herlock’s shirt is the same shape and color as Iris’s hair
- Mikotoba bringing baby Iris to Herlock and Herlock immediately adopting her (and the fucking line Mikotoba drops when he’s retelling this??? “He took one look in my eyes and said yes”?? amazing)
- Kazuma being a bloodthirsty bastard oh my god. I am HERE for the drama of trying to keep your prosecutor partner in check as he full-tilt tries to condemn the wrong man because he’s been waiting for this moment for ten years and he doesn’t believe there’s any way that he could be WRONG
- also Kazuma giving Ryunosuke his sword at the end of the second game? The sword that is his soul?? because he knows Ryunosuke can be trusted to take care of it and keep it safe until Kazuma is ready to pick it up again? good GOD
- ALL the family vibes, like Ryunosuke calling Herlock, Iris, and Susato his family; Ryunosuke so flustered and sweet when Iris calls him her brother; their goofy family portrait at the end of the first game. yes yes yes yes yes
- Also also also the fact that Ryunosuke and Susato know IMMEDIATELY that the masked apprentice is Kazuma. I love that they know before the reveal, I love that they have to interact with him knowing who he is without being able to talk to him about it. They are both so fond of him, they are both so relieved that he is okay and confused by what’s going on and they just want him to be alright
- AND that Ryunosuke doesn’t know what the hell is going on or what Kazuma is up to, but he trusts Kazuma SO MUCH and Kazuma is his best friend in the world; Kazuma says “do this for me,” and Ryunosuke agrees without missing a beat. Even if Kazuma is acting different, Ryunosuke’s convinced he must have a reason and as soon as they all get a chance to talk things over, of course his behavior will make sense. Ryunosuke is so good and so kind.
- ALSO Ryunosuke and Susato being so fond of each other? is very cute?? I loved them as a team and I liked to picture them whispering together as they investigated the evidence in the courtroom
- THE MUSIC. Kazuma’s initial theme (”Samurai with a Mission”) is so beautiful and regal, and then hearing it in the second game (”A Grand Return”), like, moved me to tears. And “Partners--The Game is Afoot” as the Mikotoba/Herlock deduction unfolds with the cheerful, upbeat violin?? I’m weeping. I’m so bad at registering musical themes and motifs, I’m sure there are like 100 more that I fully missed.
- the motivations for the Big Bad were great! I loved that he was so convinced that he was doing the right thing and that there was no other way to get the outcome he wanted. Still obviously an objectively terrible man (who made AWFUL decisions), but I like how believable he was as a villain
- ALSO ALL THE SUBTLE (or not subtle) character design choices? Like the queen bee and the worker bee folks from the meter company, and Stronghart with all of his clock-themed outfit accents. The way that Ryunosuke and Phoenix share some sprite animations? The way that Herlock and Iris both do the hat-flip action?? Ryunosuke resting his hand on the hilt of Kazuma’s sword when he’s confident about his own decisions in court?? I love the character designs and animations in these games

good things about great ace attorney
1. How everyone chugs respect susato juice straight from the bottle
2. Having herlock being chaotic and kind of dumb instead of a calm and collected rude supergenius made him hyper likeable
3. kazumas smolder
4. Having your Maya fey lady assistant be ultra competent, smart, well-spoken, AND being acknowledged for all of that, AND never getting kidnapped/sentenced
5. Sexy Castlevania vampire prosecutor slamming his stupid leg on the podium, 100/10
6. Phenomenal OST
7. Smooth, hilarious character sprite animation
8. The heavy tone in both case 2 and 3 - both of which are clear deviations from formula (killer is a terrified and unlucky girl, defendant is not innocent)
9. sholmes mechanic is very fun
10. The Russian revolutionary on the jury panel had me howling

what are you and your f/o going as? couples costumes, or just surprising each other with your own costumes? what's their favorite halloween candy? what's their favorite halloween creature? ie, ghosts, vampires, witches, mummies, etc. what's their all-time favorite annual must-watch halloween movie? For Ryunosuke Naruhodo ~ rebeccaselfships
Thanks for the ask, @rebeccaselfships!
Halloween F/O Prompts
What are you and your f/o going as? couples costumes, or just surprising each other with your own costumes?
Well this year we're going as book characters. I'm going as the titular cat from Soseki Natsume's I Am A Cat (Wagahai wa neko de aru), whilst Ryuu is going as Sherlock Holmes Herlock Sholmes himself, having borrowed one of Mr. Sholmes's spare coats and a spare deerstalker hat.
What's their favorite halloween candy?
Anything with chocolate in it, but honeycomb is also an excellent seasonal Halloween food.
What's their favorite halloween creature? ie, ghosts, vampires, witches, mummies, etc.
Ryuu's quite the wet blanket when it comes to Halloween creatures, but would say that he'd probably have to say vampires. After all, they do remind him of a certain prosecutor-who-won't-be-named because of his anti-Japanese views...
What's their all-time favorite annual must-watch halloween movie?
Anything light-hearted and just not-scary, because anything else is likely to keep him up at night. But he does enjoy a good murder mystery movie though.

DGS Supernatural AU. I’m putting this under a read more since in contains some spoilers for both games.
I have previously talked about a DGS supernatural au before, but I’m scrapping those ideas and starting fresh.
In this AU Klimt and Genshin do not die, since Klimt never becomes a serial killer. As a result, a lot of characters and their dynamics with each other change. Iris is raised by her biological family, instead of Herlock. Though, Herlock babysits Iris frequently, since Klimt and Herlock are good friends. Similarly, Kazuma isn’t adopted by Yujin, though he does have a close relationship with the Mikotobas.
Kazuma is going to Britain to study law and become a prosecutor under Barok’s tutelage. Kazuma sees a lot of potential in Ryunosuke and he tells him he’d make an excellent defense attorney, inviting him to go to London. Kazuma does not get declared legally dead nor does he fall into a coma and lose his memory on the ship to London. Klimt and Barok were born as vampires. Lady Baskerville was a human when she had Iris, making Iris a Dhampir. She was turned after giving birth. Lord Vortex/Stronghart is also a vampire, though he’s an evil one who uses both monsters and humans to do his bidding. One of the individuals he uses is Jigoku, whom he makes a deal with. He’ll turn Jigoku and help him rise to power in the judicial world, under the condition that he carries out all of Stronghart’s orders. Jigoku accepts this deal. Stronghart is now Jigoku’s Sire so if he ever wanted to resist Stronghart’s commands it will be excruciatingly difficult to do so. I’ve also been debating on whether or not I want Gregson to end up becoming Stronghart’s “thrall.” Robert Crogley/Ashley Graydon is also most likely going to be a vampire. He was born human, but like Jigoku he too abandons humanity for vampirism and power on the condition that he’ll engage in underhanded dealings. Cosney Megdunal/Magnus McGilded is a leprechaun.  Originally, I was going to make Kazuma a vampire, but I’ve seen some people depict him as a snake monster before and I really liked the idea of that so that’s what I decided to go with here. Ryunosuke, Susato,Yujin, Gregson, and Herlock are all humans in this story, with Herlock being one of the only humans who is aware of the existence of monsters at the beginning of the au.

Oh how would Klint view Iris and Herlock?
Prosecutor's Opinion (Klint edition, part 2)
Notes: (continued from here) Hi anon, thanks for the ask! Another 'perfect' timeline one (where Klint lives and does not succumb to his inner darkness).
Content Warnings: GAA spoilers; opinions; very non-canon
Iris van Zieks
"Isn't my daughter just the most adorable, intelligent and lovely little lady you've ever seen?! She's the apple of my eye and I couldn't be more proud of her, though I do worry about the trouble I'm going to have in the future when she becomes a beautiful young woman and I have 'suitors' of all descriptions banging down my door in pursuit of her hand..."
(Iris: Oh papa, you're incredibly silly sometimes! I clearly won't settle for any less than someone who is so distracted by me that they walk into a nearby water feature!)
(Klint: . . . I see I shall forever be haunted by the fountain incident.)
Herlock Sholmes
"What a curious eccentric, and a celebrity I understand? I must admit, this one seems to know a lot more than he lets on but appears to prefer sowing the seeds of chaos for his own entertainment. I'm sure I've seen some the stories detailing his exploits in Barok's room... should I ask him for an autograph for him?"
(Barok: That won't be necessary, brother! I simply read them out of curiosity)
(Sholmes: Oh ho! I'm glad to see that even vampires rank among my fans)
(Barok: Who are you calling a vampire?!)
(Sholmes: Why I'd have thought that was rather obvious, sir. You are the vampire among us are you not? Hahaha!)

Could you do a vampire Barok drabble?
Prosecutor of Ruin
Notes: Lord Vampzieks is on the case (following a rather... irksome summons).
(Yes, the title is a pun on 'Portrait of Ruin' from the Castlevania series...)
Content Warnings: vampires, werewolves and shapeshifters (oh my!)
"My lord,” the family’s loyal head butler was waiting for him when he opened the door, no doubt his keen sense of werewolf smell had told him of the impending arrival, “A summons has arrived for you, I am told it is quite urgent.”
Barok took his cloak off and hung it up, “Hmmm,” yet another summons, truly the courts were busy of late, “Who brought it?”
“In truth I cannot say, for although I was certain I could smell the presence of one Herlock Sholmes, the person before me was undoubtedly of the female persuasion... Perhaps a mistress of his, though it would be rude of me to suppose as much.”
(More like Sholmes masquerading as a ‘maiden in distress’), the vampire lord thought as he entered the drawing room to check his bureau for the summons in question. He located it and sliced open the envelope with a sharpened nail, “Let’s see what nonsense he has for me.”
[My good fellow, I thought you might be keen to participate – a good mortal fellow by the name of ‘Ryūnosuke Naruhodo’ has apparently been asked to represent a werewolf accused of murder! I can only surmise that it is no coincidence that our mortal friend and this named defence lawyer are like to be one and the same! What say you? Will you take the case on behalf of the crown? I hear tell that it is listed for the next full moon, so two days time! The game is truly afoot!]
“Cornelius,” he called over his shoulder, while rereading the note, “Would you telephone the Prosecutor’s Office and tell them I shall be taking this particular case on.”
“Of course, my lord, and if they ask for a reason?”
“Tell them to put their request in writing and I shall answer it in due course, otherwise they can ask me when I’m next in court.”
“Very good, my lord,” the werewolf disappeared to make the call as requested of him, while Barok pondered what on earth his human friend was thinking taking on this case. No doubt he had no clue what he was getting in to, such was the fatalistic curiosity that seemed embedded into the code of every mortal creature in the world...
“... Hmh, I suppose we will clash in a whole new court, my learned mortal friend...”
