another super insulting part of the watcher situation i haven't rly seen ppl addressing much
ryan deadass saying smth like "nobody else on youtube has made tv quality content"
like... i really feel like it's important to highlight that bc not only do they obviously have no respect for their audience, but that statement shows they have no respect for their peers in the industry, either.
not to mention it is a shining example of bleeding arrogance to such a high degree, you will straight up fucking lie bc you're truly convinced you're that special when you're anything but.
there's been NUMEROUS online creators who were recognized by entertainment industry workers BECAUSE they made tv quality content & even full stop blockbuster quality content.
bo burnham started on youtube & is now one of the most wellknown & loved standup comedians of our generation, with numerous netflix specials & even a movie he wrote & directed under his belt.
the try guys, fellow ex-buzzfeed employees, had their own tv specials on food network (based off their youtube shows, btw) & a documentary made about them as well
rosanna pansino has also been on numerous food network shows both as a host & a judge
quinta brunsun, another fellow ex-buzzfeed employee, went on to create her own whole ass sitcom that has been highly praised
matpat cameo'd in the fnaf movie because of his theories & multiple other fnaf creators had small cameos through the employee of the month board easter egg
markiplier made multiple high-quality shows on youtube & is now working on a highly anticipated movie (he was also planned to cameo in the fnaf movie but couldn't due to conflicting schedules with his own movie)
hot ones got their own tv gameshow due to their popularity & they are still one of the most wellknown, beloved & respected internet shows
many short films made on youtube went on to premiere at film festivals & even in theaters
the hit horror film "talk to me" was created by youtubers rackaracka
webseries of actual fucking tv shows have also existed for literal decades
the list goes on.
to seriously think that overproduced bullshit is all you need to make "tv quality content" is not only tone-deaf, but shows they do not even know what they're talking about. many tv shows & huge blockbuster movies are made with absolutely microscopic budgets & small teams, & they still get praised & awarded for the passion, dedication, & creativity that shined brightly under those restrictions.
the blair witch project is probably the most wellknown & highly praised example of this, but it is far from the Only example
it is a whole other slap in the face, again ESPECIALLY when puppet history is one of their most popular shows, to spit in the face of internet history. to see the success of their predecessors, even ppl they fucking worked with at buzzfeed, & deny them of all their success & efforts to get where they ended up.
no, y'all are not the first people to make "tv quality content" on the internet. FAR from it. because your crap isn't even genuine "tv quality".
but you are the first ones to ever disrespect not only your audience, but your own fucking industry & your peers on this level.
& you are the first & i sorely hope the only fuckwads dumb enough to pull a stunt this fucking stupid, out of touch & utterly tone deaf.

as a writer my relationship with dragon age can be summed up by that one interview where it’s gaider, jhep and someone else talking about the exalted march dlc, and at one point someone brings up, “yeah we were gonna have you meet justice still inside of kristoff and he’d be like, ‘kirkwall? i never went to kirkwall.’”
and in the five seconds before i read the next line my brain went, holy shit that’s genius— so anders was never possessed? he was just radicalized the way anyone who had his experiences would be? and the possession was an invention of varric’s— maybe he mentioned justice to varric over drinks once— an exoneration, an insanity plea, and, subconsciously, a personal way of coping with the fact that his friend did something that ripped his home apart. holy shit, that is actually such an incredible way of using the frame story of da2, what the fuck—
and then the next line someone else says, “yep, because the demon that possessed anders was just a random demon that tricked him into thinking it was justice.”
and im just like oh. right. this is dragon age. ok.

the circle's laws on marriage is so awesome btw. apostates can't legally marry. mages can't marry each other in 90% of circles. but a mage can theoretically marry a non-mage outsider (logically unsustainable given that 90% of mages cannot leave the circle and non-chantry civilians can't enter a circle and all communication between the circle and outside is heavily monitored) so mages do have marriage rights! hurray! ^_^

someone really struggling with something is NOT the same as someone being fully unable to do something, and saying as much is not oppression olympics, it's just a statement of fact.
if that statement feels invalidating to you, please ask yourself why.
just because someone needs more accomodations than you doesn't mean you are any LESS disabled, it just means that different people are going to have different needs, and that's ok!

Like one of the reasons I'm so entranced by daring is a character is how he's so self-centered but sooooo unapologetically kind and earnest to other people. He acts with a frankly egregious sense of grandeur that is definitely in part an act an act, yes, but he's willing to admit his mistakes so easily. He's so quick to accept and forgive and it's so clear the happiness of other people is something he deeply values. Prince Charmings are raised to be grand heroes with zero fear, but at their core they're about helping others and being there for them. Daring might not be a destined prince charming anymore, but he exemplifies the core aspect of kindness for kindness's sake without ever asking for anything in return. There's something poetic about it. He couldn't save someone when acting as Prince Charming, but when he was just being himself, genuinely just trying to help someone in danger, he did save them. Daring has a bleeding heart and hides it under the illusion of self-importance. I don't believe that it's all an act, I think he does very much love himself (even if it can get unhealthy) but it's so clear he loves other people just as much. There's a reason he's the gold standard of prince Charmings, and it's not his brevity or combat skills.

togame is the type to always carry your shopping bags, purses, backpacks,... he does it so smoothly too. you don't even realize he took it from your hands until you're looking for something in said bag. he only laughs when you tell him about his ninja ways but doesn't tell you how he does it. might be that when he's near it's really hard to focus on anything else but him and he knows how to use it to his advantage.
togame is the type to have scrunchies on his wrist even after he cuts his hair because you might want to use it (and he finds the way you put your hair up really mesmerizing, maybe he's just a sucker for your neck who knows)
togame is the type to carry you back home on his back. he would do it anytime but especially if you went to some event that required you to wear shoes that were only ever meant for looking good but shredding your feet. the first time it happens he wasn't prepared so he ran to a convenience store for some bandaids but the next time? he had them all ready in his suit pocket (cute kid bandaids too that you sometimes see choji sporting after he gets into a fight).
togame is the type to sit with his head underneath is chin with a dopey smile while you talk his ear off. he makes little grunts to show he is listening but otherwise stays quiet. sometimes he tucks a hair behind your ear causing you to lose your train of thought. (the rest of shishitoren definitely teases him about how much of a lovesick puppy he is but he honestly doesn't see it as a bad thing.)
togame is the type to tug you into bed for 5 more minutes just to end up napping the day away. he could hibernate for days with you in his arms. even in the middle of the summer he will stick to you like glue. his chest to your back, one hand wrapped around your waist, another under your head for your ultimate comfort (he can't feel that arm after 15 mins but he'd rather die than move it) and his thigh in between yours, face smooshed in the back of your neck (never complains about the hair in his mouth, it's just part of snuggles).

Just started watching ep. 118 (yes I know I'm behind, I've been busy playing Prey and writing essays on Octavia Butler with life) and in listening to Ludinus' monologue I had a thought about a specific disconnect that cause many, in universe as well of out of it, to view the gods as tyrants. Imogen points it out when Ludinus laments about his family being collateral damage in the battle between the Lawbearer and the Crawling King: would he rather the Crawling King have been unleashed on the world to wreak havoc uncontested? (to which his response was a long silence and glaring at her)
It’s an inability to understand and accept the true scale and nuance the gods operate on, and in doing so choosing to place individual suffering and slights over ultimate consequences that may, and often do, affect the entire world. Yes it’s horrible that the gods struck down Aeor - but they were defending themselves against a weapon of mass destruction, and any other action would have been akin to lining themselves up to be shot. Yes it sucks that the Titans, who were there first, were killed - but they were trying to exterminate all mortals. Yes the deaths during the Calamity were unforgivable - but the alternative would've been to let the Betrayers kill everyone. Yes it’s horrible that the primes wouldn’t let their champions oppose Lolth in taking Opal - but they are in the middle of a battle for the world in which all hands are needed, and losing champions to a minor skirmish when they want the same thing would be pointless. Yes it’s unfair that the gods won’t personally step in and help every little person suffering, such as Ashton and Laudna - but they're literally gods responsible for the lives and afterlives of millions, and also separated by the Divine Gate, which was literally erected to protect mortals from the fallout of too much divine meddling.
When pressed, Ludinus switches to saying that it isn't the collateral itself that is the problem, but that the gods won’t personally remember and beg forgiveness for every single life lost. In saying this, he also claims that he is different - but is he? Does he honor the lives of Orym's family? The children tortured under Trent and other suffering caused by the Cerberus Assembly? The thousands lost in the war between the Empire and the Dynasty because he wanted his own beacon? The entire city of Molaesmyr? Does he even remember the many individuals indoctrinated into his cult and lost in the ensuing battle?
In the end, it isn't about collateral, or honoring those sacrificed. It's that he finds his suffering uniquely bad, and his goals uniquely warranted. Only HE (and people who want the same exact thing as him) has the right to make desicions that affect all of Exandria.

I will say, it is odd how many liberals in the imperial core will become adult converts to judaism or islam essentially solely because those are minority religions in their historically-christian countries, and are therefore seen as being inherently progressive or revolutionary in some way.

— The Sorrengail purely sibling “kids of chaos” dynamics in Chapter 54 are *chefs kiss* perfect —
Brennan: What are you doing?
*Violet & Xaden too distracted with awkwardly flirty cute “Hi’s”*
Mira: You sent me a missive saying our sister was a breath away from catatonic, so now I’m here. What does it look like I’m doing?
Brennan, gesturing to Violet & Mira: I wanted you to get her out of bed. Not crawl into it with her!
Mira: I've been here less than half an hour and she's already speaking, so I think my methodology is pretty sound *levels Brennan with a Lilith Sorrengail worthy look* What exactly have you been doing?
Mira, shouting: She lost a dragon! Not a boyfriend. It's not a breakup. *glances to Xaden* No offense.
Xaden, folding arms & deadpan looks: None taken. We're past the breakup stage.
Mira, lecturing Brennan: Point is, the deficit of power has to be staggering, let alone the emotional impact of severing a bond!
Violet, whispering: Stop talking about me like I'm not here.
Brennan: I didn't imply she has to bounce back like a toy!
Violet, shouting to a standstill: Stop!
Brennan, entire body sagging with relief: Thank the gods. You speak.
Mira, throwing up her hands: I told you she speaks!
Violet, getting out of this conversation & muttering as she emerges from bed: No wonder Dad spent so much time in the Archives. *Step one, get out of bed. Step two, bathe off four days of misery.*
Brennan, mouth dropping: And now you're telling jokes?
Mira: She likes me more than you.
Violet: Nothing about this is funny! You two have GOT to stop fighting! Work it out, because other than Niara we’re all that’s left! *gestures & mom glares them down* so, WORK. IT. OUT!
Violet, shutting the door: I need a moment.
Xaden, .5 seconds later (too happy she’s alive): Moment over!
Violet: Are they still arguing?
Xaden: They’re your siblings.

the final of magus' familiars, even in its biggest size it is the stealthiest one. it can perfectly camouflage itself and be completely silent, and as a last resort it's scream is deadly. depending on how close you are it might downright melt you into nothing. unlike the other two, the mind that commands this body was not originally one of magus' creations, so it is both more independent and relatively gentler in its behavior, though still quite inhuman in perspective
it can usually be found in the Salvage, keeping an eye on all the things and creatures that end up there, brought by the universe's eddies. it's a bit of a folk legend for those that are awake there, at this point
as trivia, BEHOLD. basically what my setting's dragons look like, though they're actually living creatures with a proper lifecycle and fancy coloration, unlike magus' familiars. and they have only 2 arms
