Why the group post? The shows are no longer interconnected, become separated, They used to acknowledge each other's events and have random social appearances at Molly, but not anymore. And the linking characters and stories are gone .
Time to recreate the shared universal again

"it's good to see you." sitting down, sidney couldn't help but to let a smile perk up before taking a seat in front of him. her own morning treat was held in her hand as the other grasped onto a coffee mug. "thank you for taking the time out of your day to meet with me. have you found anything on them? billy.. stu..? any of the names i gave you?" if whispers were right, the dead had the chance to return in dc and she feared.

Jay Halstead x Reader
Jay wants you but won't admit it until he sees someone else wanting you
Sex, clothed sex in the precinct?
You sat next to Kim, trying to listen as her and Adam told you about something Makayla was doing at school. You were desperately trying to act like your attention wasn’t on your partner or the way his lips moved around the edge of that beer bottle, the way his hand gripped it. Fuck, you were losing your shit. Hailey bumped you lightly and whispered “Are you good?”
You shook yourself out of your stupor and nodded “Yeah, I’m um gonna go pay my tab” she nodded and slid back to let you move over her legs out of the booth. “Hey, hold up. I’ll walk with you. Need to pay mine too” Jay called and you tried not to show on your face that you were mentally cursing. You needed a breather away from him. You weren’t sure what the hell was going on lately between you and your partner of the last two years but the dynamic had shifted and it was choking you.
You forced a smile onto your face and cut your eyes at him as you made it over Hailey’s legs “Well come on then Halstead. I don’t go all night” he rolled his eyes “Like you got anywhere to be” you shrugged “Sorry if all of us don’t keep a rotation of beds to hop out of like some people” and grinned when he shook his head.
You walked off from the table and heard his footsteps right before his hand brushed your lower back “You know I don’t have no damn rotation” you looked over your shoulder at him and shrugged “None of my business if you do, now is it?” then kept walking.
When you made it to the bar, you leaned on the end and waved for Herrman. He nodded so you waited and felt Jay staring at you. You finally turned to face him “Yes?” he shook his head “You’ve been quiet tonight. Is something wrong?” A small smile slipped onto your face at the concern in his voice “No Jay, I’m good. I think I’m just tired” he studied your face for a moment then finally nodded “You know if you ever need me, whenever that may be all you have to do is call. I’ll come to you”
You nodded then let a smirk slip onto your face “What if I call and you got a woman in your bed?” He rolled his eyes “Dammit, I’m trying to be a good friend, a good partner and you gotta call me a slut” You gasped lightly, grabbing your chest dramatically “I did not call you a slut! I implied you were!” he took a step closer to you, putting your back against the bar and his chest just a breath away from yours. You cut your eyes up to meet his, swallowing hard as he said “Sweetheart believe it or not I don’t need to be fucking a different woman every night. A real man doesn’t”
“What does a real man do then Jay?” you asked and he leaned closer, hands caging you in and letting his lips brush the shell of your ear “A real man finds one woman, only needs one woman” he chuckled lightly when you cut your eyes up at him and shoved him, both of you laughing like you hadn’t probably just looked like you were on the verge of making out to the entire bar. “You’re an ass Jay”
Your heart was pounding in your ears and you were fairly certain your panties were on the verge of being ruined just from that innocent of an interaction. Hell maybe you were the one in need of a random bed to hop into? He grinned “Still being honest”
About that time Herrman came back over and handed Jay a receipt then walked off. “Wait Herrman! My tab!” you called and he looked back with a grin “Your partner paid for ya sweetheart” you looked back at Jay who winked at you “You can get the drinks next time” you shook your head “You’re a pain” he nodded “Been called worse”
Tumblr media
“Can I ask a question?” Adam asked and you groaned “You can ask, don’t mean I’m gonna answer” how the hell you’d managed to get stuck with Ruzek when partners had gotten switched around you weren’t sure but Hailey was with Kevin and Kim was with Jay while you were in the damn surveillance van.
“You and Halstead?” you nodded, eyes never leaving the screen but when he didn’t finish the thought you cut your eyes at him “What about me and Jay?” he shrugged “Are you two?” “Are we what Adam?” you asked and he rolled his eyes “Are you sleeping with him?”
“ADAM!” you gasped and he held up his hands defensively “Hey babe, this is a safe space. I have a daughter with my partner. I’m not judging” you shook your head “Christ, no. Ok? Jay doesn’t look at me like that. I’m just his partner” he nodded slowly, turning back to the screen then looked back at you “How do you look at him?” “RUZEK!” you warned and he nodded “Ok ok, sorry sorry”
Were you that obvious even to Adam? Damn what were you gonna do? You couldn’t very well be walking around looking like a love struck puppy at your partner, one of your best friends if he didn’t feel the same. It was pathetic and could ruin your friendship and partnership. “I think he wants you if it helps any” “Kim and Mack are the only reasons I don’t shoot you” you told him and he grinned “Thank god for my girls then”

All of you stood together after the takedown. You poked at your arm where a bullet had grazed it. It didn’t really hurt, it was just the surface, might need a stitch or two but nothing serious. You heard Voight call your name and turned towards him “Yeah boss?” he nodded towards your arm “You need an ambo?” you shook your head “Hell no. I can drive myself to med”
“Like hell. I’m driving you to med” Jay spoke from behind you. You turned to see him walking towards you, his eyes glued to your arm. Voight nodded “Ok, Jay take her to med then you two just come back to the precinct. The rest of us will finish up here and meet you two back at the house”
“Yes sir” you replied and Jay nodded towards his truck “Come on” you followed him out. Once the two of you were in his truck, he cut his eyes at you “Are you ok?” you smiled “I’m fine Jay, really” he shook his head “You got grazed sweetheart” you rolled your eyes “Don’t be dramatic Halstead” he reached a hand out to brush against yours “I’m not being dramatic. My partner is bleeding from a bullet” your heart flipped when his hand brushed yours and Adam’s words flashed through your head..nope you were not doing that. “I’ll be ok. Your brother will throw a stitch or two in and boom, I’ll have more scars to explain to any dates that go well”
He shook his head “Any man seeing any part of you and worrying about scars is a fucking idiot” you felt your face warm but played it off by saying “Well you’re lucky men get sexier with scars” he laughed lightly “So do women sweetheart”
Tumblr media
“What do you think about this joint task force?” you asked Jay as the two of you sat in his truck, watching a house that was a place of interest. He shrugged “I don’t know. Sometimes other teams play well, other times they get in our way”
“Guess we’ll see” you replied, eyes staying on the door of the house. He nodded “What happened to that last guy you were dating?” your head whipped around towards him “Lukas? We split like seven months ago Jay”
He nodded “I know. Why did you two split?” you shrugged “Wasn’t the right fit I guess?” “Oh” he replied and you felt a bit put off “Why do you ask?” he shook his head “No reason” you turned to face him “Jay, I can read your bullshit” he shrugged “Was just wondering”
“Why are you perpetually single since you and Erin split?” you asked and he grinned “Wouldn’t you like to know?” and turned his eyes back to the house. Oh this asshole! “Got your eyes on someone?” you asked and he cut his eyes at you “Do you?” oh this was the game he was playing, ok cool. “Nope, not at all” you replied turning to face out of the window but not missing the way he was still watching you intently.
“Don’t date some other asshole who doesn’t understand who you actually are” he added after a moment and you rolled your head to look at him “Don’t date some other bitch who is only interested in the fact that you’re hot. You’re actually more than a pretty face Jay” he grinned “You think I’m pretty?” you rolled your eyes “Christ, shut up!” and shook your head.
Tumblr media
Voight stepped out of his office and everyone looked up. “The feds are headed up” all of you stood, walking around to sit on the edges of your desks as Trudy led a team of seven people up the stairs. Three women, three men then an older guy around Voight’s age.Guess a team was really picked to match intelligence this time.
Voight went around and introduced everyone one by one. Sara, Nikki, Henri, Paula, Samuel and Logan. Their boss was George. The decision was to combine the teams and make three teams of four.
You and Jay ended up getting paired with Nikki and Samuel. Nikki was a bit taller than you with braids and dark brown eyes that were a gorgeous shade and a bright smile. Samuel was around Jay’s height, just as broad with light brown hair that was a big longer but suited him and he had hazel eyes that were damn near the shade of honey at the moment. “Look forward to working with you” he told you with a smile when he shook your hand.
You just did catch Jay’s reaction to Samuel introducing himself to you. He was leaning against the wall, arms crossed and damn he looked pissed. You cut your eyes at Adam who gave you a “Told ya so” look and rolled your eyes. That did not mean anything. Jay was not jealous..was he? Samuel was an attractive man…maybe you should flirt a little? Not enough to risk the job but enough to show interest? If Jay rose to the bait it would let you know once and for all he wanted you like you wanted him and well if he didn’t then Samuel would still be an option.
____________________
“Samuel, will you check my vest?” Jay normally checked your vest, even over your unit but Hank had encouraged all of you to play nice, right? Jay met your eyes and raised an eyebrow. All of you were gearing up in your blackout gear. This was a big hit and warranted it. Once you were vested you glanced over your shoulder at Samuel and smiled “Thanks honey” and motioned to his hair “Let me help you”
“Oh, ok” he turned and leaned down for you to help him tie his hair back. All the while you could feel Jay’s eyes boring a hole into your skull. Maybe Adam was onto something? Once you had Samuel’s hair fixed you grinned “There ya go” and walked over to Jay who watched you closely “Done flirting?” you cut your eyes at him “Excuse me?” he rolled his eyes “You’ve been flirting with him for hours” you shrugged “And if I want to, no one else wants me”
He turned to look at you and you met his eyes before shrugging and walking away. You grabbed the rest of your gear along with the mask that slipped down around your neck until it was needed then walked outside. All of you were riding in Nikki’s suv so that was a plus. You headed for it never minding Jay or Samuel.
___________________
“Is she single?” Samuel asked Adam, not realizing Jay could overhear or more so not realizing Adam had moved them to the point to make sure Jay could hear. “As far as I know man. Ask her out after the job though, not before”
Like hell was Jay letting that happen. You were his, not this FBI asshole’s. Woah where did that thought come from? Yeah time it hit it rang true. You were his, he was yours. He wasn’t letting you go without a damn fight because the jealousy he felt wasn’t even warranted. You weren’t his and yet you damn sure felt like you were.
Tumblr media
“MOVE MOVE MOVE”
You ran behind Nikki chasing two perps down and both of you hit them hard, rolling them up in the street as Jay and Samuel caught up from cuffing their own perps. “You good?” Jay asked and you nodded, pushing hair back from your face “Fuckin perfect” this damn task force was doing its job. Twenty arrests in the last two days. You were tired and wound up and needed a break from Jay walking around in his damn black out gear looking like well that.
Samuel offered you a hand to your feet so you took it with a smile “Thanks Sam” he nodded “Of course” and you saw Jay’s jaw tighten. “How many more are on Hank and George’s list?” Nikki asked and you grinned “I think we may be done”
Samuel smirked at you about the time you heard the two men in question calling everyone to circle up. You snatched your perp up while Nikki snatched hers up, both of you passing them off to patrol before heading towards Hank and George.
Hank looked around “Head back to the precinct. We need to do a headcount to make sure but we believe we got all the targets” you let out a breath and grinned “Thank god” then headed for Nikki’s suv.
______________
Jay’s eyes kept flickering towards Samuel. That son of a bitch had every intention to ask you out. He’d heard him talking about it and had caught him checking you out. He’d break his fucking jaw.
The moment all of you stepped into the precinct he grabbed your arm as soon as you walked into rollup “Hey, we need to talk” you cut your eyes up at him then looked back at Nikki and Samuel “About what?” he shrugged “Five minutes sweetheart” you sighed “Fine”
______________
You let Jay pull you into the tech room and close the door behind himself. “What Halstead?” you asked and he looked at you “Don’t go out with that asshole” you knew you looked as confused as you felt because what the hell was he talking about? “What?” “Sam” he scoffed and you shook your head,  pulling at the collar of your black out gear “I don’t have time for this shit Jay”
You turned to walk out but he grabbed you and the next thing you knew your back was against the wall and Jay was holding you against it, standing over you “I know you want me as bad as I want you” you didn’t say anything so he leaned down, lips just a breath from yours “Say you don’t and I let you go”
“And if I say I do?” you whispered and his lips crashed against yours. You whimpered lightly when his tongue slipped past your lips, tasting every inch of your mouth he could. His hands went to your hips, gripping tightly. He pulled back enough to speak against your lips “I need you please” you nodded “Ok” he smiled against your lips, hands slipping down to work at the belt and zipper of your tach pants. Once they were loose enough he could get his hand in it he wasted no time slipping his fingers down below your panties. He teased your clit with his thumb and when your head fell back against the wall, a gasp leaving you that he had to swallow with a kiss he slipped one thick finger into you, followed by a second.
Your hand went to his wrist, not trying to move it, just needing something to hold onto. “Jay” you moaned lightly and he grinned against your lips “Be quiet baby. Don’t want no one to hear us” you rolled your bottom lip between your teeth, eyes going from watching where his fingers were working their way in you up to his eyes “I need more of you Jay” you whispered and his eyes widened “What do you want baby?”
You ran a hand over the bulge in his pants and a low groan left him “sweetheart, can you be quiet?” you whimpered when his fingers hit a spot deep inside of you “One way to find out. If I’m yours fucking claim me Jay” his forehead fell against yours, fingers slowing inside of you. “Princess, if you’re mine that makes me yours too”
You raised your eyes to him “Then take what’s yours” he pulled his fingers out of you and licked them clean before leaving a bruising kiss on your lips. He turned you around, bracing your hands against the wall. You could hear him fighting with the belt and zipper of his pants “I’m gonna take you home with me, take my time” you looked over your shoulder and felt your mouth go dry when he pushed his pants down just far enough his hard cock could slip out “Shit” he grinned “Second thoughts?”
You shook your head “I trust you” he smiled and folded himself over your shoulder to press a kiss to your lips as he pushed your pants down far enough he could line himself up with your opening before sliding in with one hard thrust. “It’s gotta be fast, baby. They’ll realize we’re gone”
You bit down hard on your lip to keep the moan in that wanted to escape from the feeling of him stretching you so damn deliciously “Don’t care, just fuck me please” you whispered and he chuckled “Yes ma’am”
He had one hand at your waist, keeping you upright and the other at your collarbone. He found a rhythm that had his hips snapping into yours at a pace that made your eyes roll back into your head with every damn thrust. “Please don’t stop” you whispered and he laughed. One of his hands came down to your clit, rubbing tight circles. A moan tried to escape you but the hand at your collarbone moved up to your throat, squeezing just enough to cut off the sound before it made it out. The mixture of sensations of his cock slamming into you, his fingers working at your clit and the air getting cut off made your orgasm slam into you so damn hard his hands on you were the only thing keeping you up straight.
“Where can I cum?” he groaned, releasing his grip on your neck so you could answer “In me, please” you whimpered and his head fell over on your shoulder “Fuck you want me fallling in love already don’t you?”
He gave a few more hard thrusts then buried himself inside of you, you felt when he came, some of it sliding back down your thighs. “Fuck” you breathed as he moved to pull your pants up then fixed his own.
He helped you to stand and smiled when he saw how wobbly your legs were. “:You ok?” you nodded, holding onto his arms “I think so” he grinned “Good because like I said, you’re mine but I’m yours too. Got it?” you nodded “Got it”
You heard Adam calling both of your names and your eyes got wide. Yeah there was no way he wasn’t gonna figure out what just happened. “What do we do?” you asked and he grinned “Hope Voight or Platt doesn’t realize?” you shook your head “So much help”
The moment you and Jay stepped out of the tech room Adam’s eyes got wide “Kevin owes me fifty bucks man!” you glared at him “Mention this and I’ll kill you. Say we’re together, that’s fine, risk our jobs, you’re a dead man” he shook his head “I’m not saying shit you horny little fucks straighten up it’s time to tell the feds bye. We can go home within the hour"
You cut your eyes at Jay then nodded “Let’s go say bye in that case. I’m suddenly eager to get out of here” “I bet you are” Adam laughed on the way upstairs.
Jay slipped his hand into yours, just in case Samuel got any ideas. You were officially his, he wasn’t letting you go now. Besides he had so many ideas for when he got you back to his place, to an actual bed with a few hours to spare with you spread out for him. That thought alone had him wrapping an arm around your waist to help your tremoring legs up the stairs a little faster.
You glanced over your shoulder at him and smiled "I'm yours Jay. No need to be jealous" he stopped walking to press a kiss to your lips "I'm yours baby" Adam shook his head "and for once I was right" then kept walking.

One of Those Days || Jay Halstead x Halstead Sister
Tumblr media
We deserved more interactions between Kim and Jay, that's all I'm saying.
I was thinking about this day where I was feeling super shitty at school, my self harm habits were horrible back then and I always wanted to cry. Since my mom was working, I texted my aunt and she took me to her house. She knew I was pretending to have a headache, but anyway followed my game. My little cousin lend me her bed to lay down and she decided it was a good idea to read The Little Prince for me to fall asleep 💕
“Do you want me to call your dad?” The receptionist at school asked the girl infront of her. Her head was slightly lowered and her hair covered a good part of her face.
“Can you call my brother instead?” Becca asked in a low crackly voice.
The receptionist sighed, “Sure. But you know I can’t let you go without your dad’s permission”
The girl nodded and sat in the hard plastic chairs of the office to wait while the woman spoke on the phone.
“…Yes, she has a headache…She’s alright, but seems like it’s getting worse. The nurse checked her, but can’t really do much. Sure, she’s at the office. Thank you, Mr. Halstead”
“Becca, your brother will be here as soon as he can. Go get your stuff, I’ll call your dad to let him know”
She didn't really have a headache, but it seemed like "fake it 'til you make it" was a real thing because she was now starting to feel discomfort in her head. Although it might have been because she was struggling not to cry in front of everyone. Her nose was now red, and her eyes were watery. Everybody thought it was due to allergies or the flu, but in reality, she was swallowing hard, trying to retain tears rolling down.
“Let’s go, Beccs”, Jay said while picking up his sister’s backpack from the floor.
The walk to the parking lot was silent; she knew that if she talked, she would burst into tears. A hole in her chest appeared the minute she saw her brother, and now it was growing fast inside of her.
Jay was eagerly typing on his phone, dealing with work issues he couldn't leave for later. He was worried; since he received the call from the school, his gut told him Becca's emergency wasn't about being sick, and now, even looking at her sideways, he could confirm it.
The detective opened the car a few steps before they reached it. Both siblings went to the same side of the truck, the girl ready to jump inside, while her brother was putting her belongings on the back seat. When Jay closed the door, Becca was still outside waiting for him. She was scratching her eye, and as soon as their gazes crossed, she started to silently cry. Instinctively, brother and sister took a step forward to hug each other; there was no time for Jay to bend to her height, so she squeezed his waist tightly.
"Did something happen, or is it only the feeling?" He tilted his ear to be able to hear the answer.
Becca moved her head, saying no, her face still sunken in his stomach, "Only the feeling."
"Alright," he softly said. They stayed like that for a moment before actually going inside the truck.
With a mixture of affection and concern, Jay stared at his sister before starting the car. "Do you want to talk?" He spoke gently. Her delicate attempt to wipe away the evidence of her tears with the sleeve of her sweater tugged at his heartstrings.
Becca despised being seen in such a fragile state; the vulnerability on display only heightened her emotions. It struck her as ironic that the very person who made her feel secure and shielded, her brother, was the one in front of whom she felt the most exposed. In the tumult of her emotions, Jay remained her safe person, the only one she could trust.
"It's the pain in the chest, the black hole. It's growing."
He frowned with a slight nod. Jay knew perfectly what she was talking about, and he hated to be so powerless about it.
"I don't want to go home," she begged. Becca's face made Jay's heart drop; you could see the pain in her puffy eyes and her cheeks a bit swollen along with her pink nose.
He swallowed hard, "I honestly wouldn't take you there even if you asked me to. You are coming with me, but I still have things to do at the bullpen."
“I can wait”
On the road back to the 21st District, Jay’s phone never stopped ringing, but anyway he passed by a drive-thru to get an ice-cream for Becca, a nice attempt to cheer her up a bit.
“Feeling a bit better?” He asked before getting inside of the building. At least, the crying was controlled for a moment. “Alright, let’s go”.
It was obvious she had been crying, but nobody said a thing about it. All the cops, detectives and seargets greeted the girl with a warm smile and acted normal around her.
Becca stayed in the coffee room and never got out of there. After all the weeping, exhaustion took its toll, and she found herself drifting into sleep on the arm of the sofa. Jay periodically entered to check on her, his stress evident as he felt the weight of time pressing against him. The clock relentlessly ticked away, yet the workload showed no sign of diminishing.
Kim noticed, and after preparing to leave by taking her coat and bag, she approached her friend. "Hey! I'm already done here and heading home. If you want, and if she wants to, I can take Becca with me. I just need to pick up Mak from school, and then we'll be home."
The detective hesitated, “Uhm—“
"Look, I don't know what's going on with her, but at least she can properly rest there..." Kim's voice carried a note of genuine concern, her eyes reflecting a mix of empathy and worry for both of them.
They turned their heads to see how the girl was all tangled in her spot.
“Are you sure?”
“Positive. That way you won’t have the pressure—I mean, you’ll still have the pressure, but it will be different knowing she’s comfortable in a safe place…I know the feeling, Jay”
After a few seconds of deliberating in his mind, he thankfully agreed only for his sister’s comfort.
“Don’t worry, don’t rush. You can pick her up whenever you can, doesn’t matter if it’s late”, Burgess said before departing and Jay knew she was honest, “I’ll take care of her”
Makayla was delighted with Becca's presence but was too shy to interact with her. Since they didn't have visitors often, this was kind of a new experience for her.
"Mak," her mom called, "Becca is not feeling very well, would you lend her your bed for a little while so she can rest?"
"Sure!" Despite her short life, Makayla's tender heart had already weathered enough storms, shaping her into a compassionate soul capable of understanding when someone else was beaten down or in pain. She sensed all that in Becca and was willing to make her feel good. "I can even lend her my stuffies," she added as an innocent gesture. Now addressing their guest directly, she continued, "They'll keep you company and won't be scary if you wake up in the dark."
Kim guided Becca to the room and arranged everything for her, picking up some clothes and toys that her daughter had left on the floor. Meanwhile, Makayla was opening drawers and climbing them to reach the highest shelf where the books were placed.
"There you go, make yourself comfortable," Burgess said while still fixing the unmade bed.
“And I’ll read you something to help you sleep”, Makayla approached holding a big book with her small hands.
“Mak, sweetie, no. We’re going out while she sleeps, okay? But you can read to me”, she took her hand to lead her out.
“No, mom. She doesn’t need to be alone right now”, Makayla’s big dark eyes were over Becca. “She needs a story, that’s what you do when I am sad”
Suddenly, the pain in Becca's chest intensified, and the gaping hole seemed to expand. It was as if her new little friend could read her mind. Becca yearned to be alone to release the pent-up tears, yet a lingering understanding told her that solitude might not be the best course of action.
“It’s alright, Kim. This her room, after all”
“Yas!” Mak jumped out of excitement. “Now, you lay down here and close your eyes. I’m going to read you a story that always make me feel better when I am not happy…”
With a smile and slowly going out of the room, Burgess leaved the two girls alone.
“The Little Prince is one of my favorite books too, Makayla”
“I knew it” her smile was bright.
As Becca listened to the reading, she feigned sleep. A few tears escaped her eyes, but she skillfully concealed them. Eventually, the reading ceased, and Becca sensed Mak's tiny face drawing near, checking if she was truly asleep. The youngest Halstead heard Makayla's footsteps departing from the room, but then she returned, placing a stuffed animal between Becca's arms. "Don't leave her alone, Buttons," she whispered before descending the stairs with her mommy.
Slowly, Becca opened her eyes and as soon as she made sure she was alone, she started an intense crying, trying not to make a lot of noise. She turned to give her back to the door, hidding in case someone came in. Clutching the stuffed animal tightly, she cried until exhaustion enveloped her, eventually lulling her into a fitful sleep.
She awoke in Jay's bed, disoriented about how she got there, a Mak's plush toy still nestled between her arms. Rising from the bed, a sudden wave of dizziness hit her, her head throbbing, and the discomfort in her chest persisting. When she emerged into the living room, her brother was seated on the sofa. Becca raised Buttons with one hand, a question mark etched on her face, silently seeking an explanation.
“Makayla insisted you should take it for tonight”, he answered simply.
“Oh. That's sweet”
"How are you feeling?" Jay asked, standing up to approach her, but she just shrugged. "Stupid question?"
"It's just—"
"One of those days," he completed. "I know."
"A terrible one, and it's not over yet" There was a long silence and Jay knew she was trying to say something, so he gave her time. "I was scared, Jay."
Those last words sent shivers down his spine, he understood what she was referring to and was also frightened but couldn't admit it in front of her. He masked his concern, assuring her, "You should never be scared, I'm here with you."
"I know", she gave him a hug.
"Do you want to talk now?" Becca hurriedly said no only with her head, and her brother understood.
"Okay", Jay sighed, "You haven't eaten a thing all day. Food should make you feel better. What about pizza, a movie, and the company of your favorite brother, hm?"
"What? Is Will coming?" Becca teased him, finally smiling.
"Ha! A joke, that's a sign that you are already feeling better."
The evening unfolded and laughter echoed through the room as they enjoyed the movie. Yet, even in her weariness, Becca managed to stay awake for a fleeting moment. As she drifted into sleep, the pain in her chest, a constant companion throughout the day, was miraculously eased by the gentle touch and care of her brother.

Southern Charm
Jay Halstead x Baker!Reader Warnings: None
Two weeks had passed since Jay’s first visit to Lemon Drops. Since then, it had become a regular stop in his morning routine. Volunteering for coffee runs when the one in the break room was conveniently broken, even finding himself out front of the cozy little shop on his day off. The more he visited, the more he saw his time in Y/N’s company as the highlight of his day, a ray of sunshine in the clouded sky of his mind. The warm environment of the cafe had quickly become his sanctuary, a place where he could unwind and enjoy a sense of normalcy away from the pressures of cases.
So when Adam sulked out of the break room and mumbled that the coffee machine was on the fritz, Jay practically jumped out of his chair. The case that had occupied the unit’s time for the past few hours was tricky and complicated; to say it was stressful was an understatement. After the others shouted their order, Jay bounced the three blocks to Lemon Drops. His phone buzzed in his hand as the familiar twinkle of the bell announced his arrival.
‘Don’t forget the Caramel Raspberry Kolache.’ Hailey.
The bakery’s cozy interior felt like a warm hug, welcoming him in from the Chicago winter. Jay’s eyes surveyed the crowded cafe, a habit he developed from being a ranger and cop. The mid-afternoon crowd was thin but still filled most of the room. A few students were huddled in the corner, blank screens probably filling a few with dread. The rest of the cafe was filled with elderly couples sharing tea and cakes. Jay waved slightly to Chelsea, who was standing at the register. Chelsea was one of the few college students that Y/N hired; Jay had become so much of a regular that he’d learnt their names. Chelsea and the other employees who helped with mid-day crowds learnt quickly that Y/N would handle Jay’s order.
After finishing a customer’s order, Chelsea poked her head through the kitchen door and called out to Y/N. With a bright smile, Y/N returned with a tray full of strawberry and cream cupcakes.
“Good morning, Jay! The usual?” she asked, her southern drawl as charming as ever.
“Morning, Y/N. Yeah, the usual. And Hailey is insistent on trying your Caramel Raspberry Pazcki’s,” Jay replied, leaning against the counter. Y/N chuckled as she moved behind the counter, seamlessly interacting with Chelsea. Y/N’s cabinets were consistently filled with brownies, cupcakes and her favorite treats from home. Recently, Jay noticed that more Chicago favorite treats with her own twist had found their way into the mix. Over the last few weeks, Jay had also become aware of just how close Hailey and the young Texan baker were, practically being badgered by Hailey for a treat from Y/N that he’d never seen in her cabinets.
“So, how’s your week been?” Y/N asked, her eyes locked on Jay but her hands working away, making the coffees. Jay smiled; his favorite part of his visit was the causal conversation that flowed between them.
“Busy, but nothing out of the ordinary. You? Business seems to be good”
“Yeah, it’s been good. Lots of new faces coming in,” Y/N said, a hint of pride in her voice. Jay chuckled.
“Well, you make the best coffee and treats in town.” Y/N blushed slightly and handed over the coffee and the usual box of treats, with Hailey’s in a separate bag.
“You’re too kind, Jay. But I’m glad you think so.”
“I’ll let you get back to work. Thanks for the coffee and Pazcki’s.”
“Anytime, Jay. Stay safe out there,” Y/N said, giving him a warm smile. Jay nodded and headed out, the tray balanced carefully in his hands, opening the door for an elderly couple as he left. As he dragged his feet the three blocks, He couldn’t shake the feeling that these brief moments with Y/N were becoming more than just a part of his routine.
***
Back at the precinct, Jay distributed the coffees to his teammates. Hailey gleefully took hers and the strawberry and cream Pazcki’s. A teasing smirk played on her lips as Jay sat at his desk.
“You’re in a good mood,” she remarked.
“Just needed the fresh air,” Jay said with a shrug, trying to play it cool.
“Uh-huh,” Hailey said, clearly not buying it. “So, how’s Y/N?”
“She’s good,” Jay replied, unable to hide his smile. “The bakery is doing well, though I regret telling Will and Kelly about it. ”
Hailey smirked. “You know, you should ask her out sometime. It’s clear you like her.” Jay felt his face heat up.
“It’s not like that. We’re just friends.”
“Sure, whatever you say,” Hailey said, sipping her coffee. “But you should think about it. Life’s too short not to take chances.”
“What’s this about taking chances?” Kevin spoke up from his place,e leaning on Hailey’s desk.
“Jay’s got a crush on the bakery owner,” Hailey said with a grin.
Atwater raised an eyebrow. “Oh? The one that makes all these delicious treats you’ve brought in every day this week.”
“To Jay and his bakery lady. May your pastries be sweet and your dates sweeter.” Kevin toasted, a devious smile directed at her partner.
“Knock it off,” Jay spoke, stifling a laugh, “It’s just coffee.”
“What’s going on?” Kim questioned as she and Adam trudged up the steps.
“Jay’s got a thing for the girl at Lemon Drops,” Kevin explained.
Kim’s eyes lit up. “Y/N? She’s so nice! You should ask her out, Jay.” Jay sighed, feeling slightly overwhelmed by the attention.
“Alright, alright. I’ll think about it.”
***
The sun had long since set by the time Jay found his feet carrying him to his truck. He had spent most of the afternoon lost in his thoughts. His co-worker’s words whirled around. Perhaps he should bite the metaphorical bullet or take that leap of faith. He was so wrapped up in his own thoughts that he didn’t hear Kevin’s invite for drinks at Molly’s; instead, he found himself parked in front of Lemon Drops Cafe and Bakery. The neon sign glaring mockingly at him. He’d helped her install it a week ago. A chuckle filled the cab of his truck. Hailey would tease him relentlessly if she found out this was his second time visiting the unit’s new favorite establishment.
By now, the evening regulars had long since gone home, leaving Y/N with the first responders trickling in and out. Chelsea had gone home, something that Jay never quite felt okay with. The neighborhood surrounding where the cafe was situated was safe, but the thought of Y/N closing on her own late at night never felt right.
“I’ll be with you in a second,” Y/N’s voice called from the kitchen. Jay felt a slight sense of Deja-vu. When she finally appeared, she looked just the same as the first time Jay had stepped foot into her business. Chocolate brown curly hair was haphazardly thrown into a bun. Her white shirt was a stark white compared to the pale yellow apron she always wore; it must be new, thought Jay. Her apron was once again covered in white dashes of flour and smudges of frosting and chocolate. A flash of pleasant surprise crossed her soft features when she looked up to greet him.
“Oh Jay, Back so soon? Couldn’t stay away, huh?”
Jay chuckled. “I guess so. Got any more of those Pazcki’s.”
“Always,” Y/N said, already reaching for one. “Here you go.”
“Thanks,” Jay said, taking the sweat treat. As always, Jay stayed chatting with Y/N as she cleaned and prepped cookies and cupcake batter for the next day. The pair discussed many things as usual, from the recent chilly weather to Y/N’s two tabby cats. Before long, he found himself standing in between his truck and Y/N’s vintage yellow Bronco, watching as she locked the door.
“Well, I guess this is goodnight then, Detective.” He hesitated for a moment, then decided to take Hailey’s advice.
“Hey, Y/N, I was wondering… would you like to grab dinner sometime? Maybe this weekend?” Y/N’s eyes widened in surprise, and then her face broke into a bright smile.
“I’d love to, Jay. That sounds great.”
“Great,” Jay said, feeling relief and excitement. “Saturday at seven?”
“It’s a date,” Y/N said, her smile warm and inviting.

Neighbors - Jay Halstead

Word count: 1,198
Warnings: nothing major, bug mention
A/n: Idk if you wanted them to get together in this but tada
Masterlist
Tumblr media
[Can I request an image with Jay Halstead in which the reader and Jay don't get along very well since the disagreement they had at the hospital when they met because of a patient. And one night the reader comes across a FLYING cockroach in her apartment and starts screaming and Jay helps her get rid of the insect. ]
You didn’t hate Jay Halstead. No, he was just the annoying guy from two doors down that frequently got on your nerves. First off, you met in the Med ED when one of his friends got brought in. That first interaction alone was horrible.
He tries to tell you (a doctor) how you should take care of his friend (a police officer) and you guessed it, Jay was also a police officer. No medical training whatsoever. But he one upped you, went over your head and got his brother to take over the case.
That was just the beginning of it all. Ever since then it’s like he was always there to push buttons. He never took his laundry upstairs in a normal time. You’d go down to put a load in and his clothes would be in the washer.
You of course didn’t dare move them instead leaving a note on his door telling him to ‘finish your fucking laundry’ which sure he listened to, placing the same note back on your door with a thud as he carried his now dry basket of clothes into his apartment.
Not only that but he always, always, managed to park just a little over the line in the parking lot which at the right time made parking nearly impossible. And since it was assigned parking it wasn’t like you could just move somewhere else. Though you did get your karma a couple times.
Parking as close to his driver side door as possible so he’d have to do gymnastics to get in the vehicle. Always earned you a sharp glare when you passed in the hallway.
He was as fed up with it as you were but that didn’t stop him from parking like an asshole. Like tonight. When he parked slightly crooked over the line and you just so happened to be pulling in behind him.
With a bite of your tongue you did what you always did, pulled up nice and snug to his truck and got out, shooting him an innocently sweet smile as you locked the doors and headed inside.
If looks could kill you’d be dead on the ground right now but that didn’t matter. All you wanted to do was get inside, take a shower and go to bed.
The elevator upstairs was taking forever and by the time it was coming to the ground floor Jay had made his way inside and next to you.
The silence was full of tension as the doors opened, a young couple walking out with their dog, breezing past. Jay shockingly let you inside first, following and stepping to the side with the buttons and signaling to be brought up.
“Was that necessary?” His voice cut the silence as he kept his gaze on the numbers changing above the door.
You rolled your eyes, leaning against the opposite corner, “Don’t park like a dick and that wouldn’t happen,” you replied with a shrug, watching as he shook his head just slightly. The door opened seconds later and the two of you split towards your apartments.
His was just down from yours and completely bare compared to the floor mat outside of yours. The rainbow ‘welcome!’ Sign had seen better days but you didn’t mind its wear and tear as you went inside, shedding the outdoor layers the were a necessity in the cold of Chicago.
Your next stop was the bedroom for clothes and then the bathroom to shower. Which you basked in, the warmth of the water holding you in longer than you wanted it to.
As it grew slightly later you moved to the kitchen, deciding to make something small for dinner before something buzzed by your ear.
Absentmindedly you swatted it away, continuing on with the food making before whatever it was, landed on your arm, pulling a loud scream from your mouth, brushing it off quickly and pulling back against the wall.
Your eyes followed it around the room, the door to your apartment flying open, “Are you okay?” Jay nearly tripped coming inside, his eyes zooming around the entrance to your apartment.
The bug landed on the counter, a whine leaving your mouth before you looked up at the man that usually you’d hate seeing but right now we’re so thankful for. Shakily you pointed at the counter, “There’s a bug.”
Part of you was embarrassed but the way his shoulders relaxed as he stepped further into the kitchen made you feel the slightest bit better. “Seriously? You screamed bloody murder over an insect?”
“First of all, it landed on my arm. Second of all, you’re the one that came barreling in over it.” You rolled your eyes, arms tightly wrapped around you. Bugs were the last thing you liked dealing with. You could do blood, pus, vomit. All the nasty doctor stuff.
But not bugs. “I thought you were hurt.” Jay sighed, looking around. “Where are your paper towels?” He asked, following the line of view where you pointed again.
With a sigh he ripped one off the roll, slowly going towards it. “Wait don’t kill it-“ Jay faced you.
“What?”
“He’s just a bug, he doesn’t deserve to be killed just because I hate him and want him gone.” You slightly stepped forward, reaching into the cupboard above the sink, trying so hard not to disturb the winged insect.
Jay raised his eyebrows, “So the bugs a he now?” He teased, watching as you grabbed a glass and handed it to him.
“Shut up, just, get him so you, I, we, whatever can get him the hell out of here.” You spoke quickly, Jay raising his hands up in defense before placing the glass over the bug.
He turned to you once more, “Now what? You have paper just lying around?” His words were sarcastic but in actuality you did.
You brushed past him, grabbing a page from the magazine you had on your living room table, ripping it out and handing it to him. “That work?”
Jay nodded faintly, “Yeah..” He took it, successfully trapping the bug in the cup as he lifted it. “I’ll let him out the window,” The man offered, walking to the living room where you pulled a window and its screen open for him.
Once it was gone you took the cup from him, a light smile on your face, “Uh, thank you.” You muttered, walking away quickly to the kitchen to wash it out. Whether it touched it or not that glass was tainted.
“Yeah, no problem. Hey, next time try not to scream like you’re getting killed unless you’re actually getting killed.”
“Oh yeah I’ll do my best.” You rolled your eyes once more, glancing over at him. “No promises though. I hate bugs,” You added, flipping the cup over to let it dry.
Jay nodded faintly, “Well, you know where I am if you need an exterminator.” You shot him a look, “Or remover.” He tagged on before giving you a soft smile, “I’ll see ya.”
With that he left and you couldn’t help but look at the door when he was gone. Maybe he wasn’t that horrible of a guy.

Rewind, Remix, Replay Jay & Kim 6x1
Read the rest of the series here
This was one of the chapters I was super excited to write! Thank you guys for all your support and comments. They truly makes my day <3
The next few days pass in a haze. The first few days after Al’s death they don’t pick up any new cases and Voight doesn’t come in to work. They all move around the bullpen like zombies, trying to focus on catching up on paperwork and ignoring the empty desk. Kim doesn’t mention the relationship disclosure forms and Jay doesn’t want to push. But he has the irritating itch to lock everything down as soon as possible. Halfway through the week, he hands her a blank file as he passes her desk. “Whenever you're ready,” is all he says before heading to a parole committee to give a statement to try to keep a child abuser in prison.
Kim watches him slide on his jacket and head for the stairs. When she opens the file there are only a few sheets of paper. They are the disclosure forms, Jay’s half is already filled out in black ink. She loses her train of thought while staring at them. It had been happening a lot lately. Her brain felt like it was thick with cotton. She should be happy that Jay had taken the initiative. Jay had offered her everything she was worried she would be able to have.
The interaction is quick and would have stayed under the radar if Kevin hadn’t been watching their every move the last few days. He walks up to her and glances at the open file on her desk. He isn’t surprised by what he sees, but he does feel unsettled that Kim still hasn't told him. It takes Kim way longer than it should to feel Kevin’s shadow and when she glances up at him, she doesn’t bother to close the file.
“You and Jay,” Kim bites her lip, brown eyes falling back down to the file. “You know, I get why you didn’t want to tell everyone else. It makes sense, but why didn’t you tell me?” Kim shakes her head looking up at her best friend.
“I didn’t know what it was.” Kevin clicked his teeth in disapproval of her answer.
“That didn’t stop you from telling me about Ruzek or Roman. I’ve always known what’s going on in your life Kim. Always knew how to back you. What’s different this time?”
“I don’t have a good answer for you. It all just kind of happened.” Kim answered tiredly closing the file wistfully. Her brain was foggy and she felt disconnected from her body. The grief had taken its toll on her.
“How long?” Her dark eyes met her best friends and she tried to calculate how long it had been. She inhaled sharply when she realized it had been almost a year since the two had started seeing each other. The first six months had been platonic, or at least to say they hadn’t been having sex, but the lines had been blurred even then. Then the last four months they had been sleeping together. It hadn’t seemed like it had been that long. Kevin shook his head at her. “I guess I should be kinda impressed. You too snuck around behind the back of a bunch of cops.”
“Kev, it wasn’t intentional. Everything going on with Nicole and Zoey…” Kim sighed deeply. “Jay was struggling when I was. We supported each other- I never thought it would become this. Life has just been a lot lately- and it looks like it going to be continue being that way. But I-” Kevin rested his hand comfortingly on her shoulder seeing her struggle. He hadn’t liked that she had kept something from him, he could see it wasn’t personal. Kim’s life had been a mess since her sister had been raped. It was worse in the beginning but the aftershocks kept coming, hitting her in waves. He should be grateful that Halstead had been another support for her.
“He makes you happy? Takes care of you?”
Kim's face scrunches in confusion and laughs as she responds. “Come on Kev, you know Jay.”
“I know Jay as a friend. I know Halstead as a partner, a part of this Unit. He is a loyal friend, a good man, and a fair detective.” Kevin agrees, “But I’m asking about how he treats you. Is he good to you? Does he take care of you-treat you right?” She feels raw, every emotion feels overwhelming, even the good ones. Kim smiles at her best friend her eyes watery. She pushes up to her feet and hugs Kevin tightly.
The week goes by in a blur. They pick up a case but Voight is still absent. Kim is in the interrogation across from the perp. “Do yourself a favor Jaylen. Start talking.” The black suspect looked down and then back at Kim pressing his lips together then nodded.
“Sure thing,” He eyed Kim’s form with a leer, “But only after you get on your knees and kick my black ass.” Antonio was going to react but he didn’t have the chance. Jaylen had barely uttered the word knees when Jay’s hand shot up to slap him on the back of the head. Antonio’s sharp eyes caught the clench in Jay’s jaw, eyes glaring daggers at the man in front of him. But they also saw the way Jay’s thighs bunched, his body slanting forward as his core tightened like he was about to propel to his feet. Antonio could only guess to slam the perp forward on the table. He could see the other man barely restrain himself, rocking out of his seat and almost fully extending his legs to stand before leaning back against the wall. Jay usually had complete control in the interrogation room.
Only cases that brought up heightened emotions could make the other detective lose his cool. It usually had to do with children. It could just be that he was still dealing with the after-effects of losing Al. “Pass,” Kim said with a tight smile sharing a glance with Jay. As Antonio watched Halstead relax, he decided it was for a different reason entirely.
Kim heads up to the front desk stopping to wait for Platt to finish cutting down a member of patrol from busting the tail light of one of the cruisers. Kim tightens her grip on the file, contemplating turning and heading back to the Intelligence bullpen. It seems like the wrong time to turn her forms in. Al’s funeral was the previous week and everyone was still trying to cope and get back to a semblance of normal.
“You need something Burgess?” Kim jerks looking up at Trudy who is staring at her intensely. She would have normally given the papers to Voight. He was her supervisor and the one who needed to know about their relationship. But Voight still hadn’t come back to the Unit yet. “Burgess?” Trudy’s voice has a low edge and she can hear the concern. Kim shakes her head trying to clear it. Then places the file on the counter in front of the woman she considered a mentor.
“Just needed to turn in some forms Sarg.” Trudy’s hands found the file but Kim was already turned to head back upstairs.
“I was wondering when I would get these.” Her voice was full of an emotion Kim could place as froze a mere step away from the desk. She looked over her shoulder seeing Trudy scanning over the papers, “Halstead better not screw this up.”

environment was loud : far too loud for his comfort . space dimly lit , soaked in neon reds & purples , in the painting of a place where secrets changed hands under the hum of CHEAP LIGHTS and CHEAPER LIQUOR . music thudded low , the air dense with the smell of alcohol and something more dangerous beneath . jay and hailey's job was simple : keep eyes on the handoff & stay invisible . and so detective sat at the bar , swirling the amber in his glass without actually tasting it ― steel - blue gaze trained on the far corner booth , where TARGET SPOKE QUIETLY with a man he didn't yet recognize .
but something was off ― he felt it the moment bartender gave them a second glance : TOO SHARP , TOO KNOWING . then came the quiet murmur near the entrance , & the bouncer with heavy shoulders walked in . someone had suspected and their disguise was starting to fray . jaw clenched ever so slightly , attention turning back to his partner as he slid into the space beside her : his voice low and steady against the noise ― enough only for hailey to understand . ❛   they're watching . we're too still .   ❜ obvious stated there , soon proved in the way her perception WORKED A BEAT FASTER than his own : holding a solution to bring the brief hue of relief .

there was no hesitation in the way jay kissed her ― slow , measured & meant to convince . yet with each passing second , it all turned into something else : deepened NOT ONLY in the name of carving a lie , not a throwaway gestures to sell the illusion . not a part of the plan , yet there the only thing to save it ― whilst CARRYING THE WEIGHT of everything still left unsaid .
