any occupations you want to see from contestants?

heyyy, yes, there are many occupations that i'd like to see!! choosing some of the following jobs could be fun: real estate agents, business owners, carpenters, barbers / hair stylists, engineers, civil servants (police officers, firefighters, teachers, nurses, etc), people who work corporate jobs (think IT, HR, PR, finance, etc), architects, (semi-professional) sports players.

if you want to go the entertainment route, i recommend doing it in an interesting way! rather than having a simple content creator or a streamer, you could opt for an actor/actress who's stuck doing commercial voice-overs, a pianist or live singer for a random jazz club, a youtuber who creates mountain bikes / biking videos that are filmed from their helmet. 

love island is a reality show where islanders work what people would consider "normal" jobs and the ones in the entertainment industry are usually a minority. it'd be fun to replicate that in love isle and that’s why i gave those examples! 🥹

no matter what you choose though, pick something that you have inspiration for!! 🫶

hii there! the only thing i can recommend for muns in this situation is to get your application in as soon as possible. if that's not something that is doable for you, then you will just have to wait for when applications reopen again.

heyya, so i was wondering how the coupling (and recoupling) would work here? in other dating show aus i've been, everyone will need to submit the form (be it if muses have mutually agreed to couple the week as convered in ic or leave it to the fates without asking in ic/having convos about it if they wanted a more dramatic route).

if we're following how the show format would be, would you have any restriction, for example; week one, the girls get to choose their couple and week two being the boys turn and so forth. and if you're going with this method, how will you help even out i) any odd numbers for couple ii) for those who would loved to be paired with lgbtq+!

the first method would make sense (everyone submits the form w/o segregating gender) but just curious to know the admin's input on this so it can help us get a sense of how things roll!

what you asked is a good question, although... am i allowed to just simply say "you'll see"? 😉 ~ to seriously answer you, submitting a form like what you are used to is definitely something that love isle will be practicing. it will not be the only option i'm giving you, however, which should make things fun and keep you all at the edge of your seat.

as for your other message about the islanders who lean more towards the same gender or end up single because there's an odd number of people, i think it's completely understandable for you to be worried about what will happen. for the islanders who lean towards the same gender, i cannot enforce a rule or anything like that to decide people's romantic / sexual preferences for them. i have said something similar here. there is just no foolproof way to ensure that your muse isn't left hanging because of it.

if your muse doesn't have a couple by the end of coupling picks, then they will either be single for that week or they will be put in a couple that the host personally sees fit. there have also been moments where, in the real show, people were "saved" because they coupled up with a friend. these are viable options that i / you can lean into when your muse doesn't have anyone else. i hope this made things clearer for you!!

i know you said that you would like to encourage ic drama, but if we have ooc issues with another mun and would like to participate in the rp peacefully, are we allowed to request to block them? respectfully, without creating drama but just a block and move forward?

hi dear anon, i understand your feelings. as roleplayers, we are all bound to come across people and experiences we do not like or are uncomfortable around. however, i ask for you (& anyone else who feels similar to you) to please remind yourselves that the roleplay community is so small already. we will run into these people and experiences no matter where we choose to go.

while i understand your need for comfort, i believe that this kind of quiet blocking is not so peaceful. i can see it causing animosity in-character and out-of-character, which is something i absolutely do not want. if you look at it from the other person's perspective, they will not understand why they cannot follow you, or why they are blocked from following you, and i think that alone has a lot of potential to create drama or bring down the mood of the entire roleplay.

love isle is something i am working tirelessly to create for everyone, so i want this to be an accessible space for everyone.

once more, i understand your feelings as i have been there many times as well! but since love isle is a roleplay that will be built on community (premise wise and very literally otherwise), i would prefer that we all just set quiet boundaries and proceed accordingly alongside each other. you do not have to interact with them or engage with their content; this is a conscious choice, so blocking them is unnecessary.

we are all adults and i believe we can keep things respectful without crossing our own boundaries. if this is not the answer you were looking for, then i am sorry, but this is not the space for you.

yes, it will be the exact same for love isle's islanders. these next six weeks—despite spending them on a dating show—are supposed to feel like a true vacation, which means no one will have access to their own phones, trending news, how the global audience is feeling about them, etc.

what the islanders will receive, however, is a mid-range google pixel phone that's monitored by production upon arrival. most of the phone's functions are disabled aside from taking pictures or videos, receiving texts about upcoming games / recouplings / challenges, etc., or texting other islanders.

just remember that everything is being recorded, so what you say to another islander in "secret" could potentially backfire!

generally, every au / oc roleplay on mewe has had different ideas of what an "introductory" post looks like. my version is just going to be a very simple questionnaire that islanders will have to answer as if they were being interviewed. once love isle officially kicks off, more details will be shared on the mewe platform. for now, just think of this introductory task as a preview to who your muse is.

some examples of these questions will be something like,

what is your name, birthday, and what do you do for a living?

how do you feel about being on love island?

what type of person are you typically attracted to?

if you're still feeling unsure about this process, you can always just wait for other muns to complete their introductions first. 😉

hi admin! this is kind of a suggestion? or idea i was thinking of while waiting for opening. i know you’re encouraging ic drama but also aware that when unplotted ic drama develops quickly things can get messy fast. would you have any thoughts on creating orchestrated ic drama? so like ooc maybe as the admin you make some plots available where it’s explicitly explained “muse a and muse b realize they’re developing feelings for the same person and now they’re feuding” or “muse a told muse b they like them but now they’re flirting with muse c”. the idea is ooc, muns can choose something for their muse if they want but at least it’s laid out plain and clear what the dynamic is even if muns don’t start/end up plotting in depth? i’m not sure how many others would be interested in something like this or if it’s viable for your workload. but i think it could help for those who aren’t as comfortable with unplotted ic drama but still want to take part in developing ic drama for the fun of it considering the potential number of members!

i can understand why there would be need for admin involvement, but as of the moment i have to be mindful of everything else, such as creating and hosting games, challenges and events for the islanders to enjoy—and already, those activities should be / are breeding grounds for drama to unfold.

again, i appreciate this idea and i thank you so much for sharing it with me!! even though i won't officially make use of this suggestion, i can post this exchange for anyone else who may find it interesting~

an example of how i can see this suggestion being used without admin involvement is someone posting similar ideas to what this dear anon is suggesting in the plotting group, and then asking other muns if they're up for it.
