Scadian from Ansteorra here. I'm gonna be real, it's... scary being Trans or nb in Texas right now. BUT not in the SCA. Pronouns are respected, preferred titles are respected. As far as we are able, we try to be a safe place. We recently amended Kingdom law to read "Sovereign and Consort" rather than "King and Queen" to account for same-sex and/or nb monarchs. We have multiple gender-neutral alternative titles for various awards, as our heralds have tried to research terms that would've been used in period. So we have armigers, lairds, kennari, etc.

There are people who are only "out" in the SCA (myself included) who then go to work and keep their heads down. Being around gnc people in the SCA - both people who identify by different pronouns, and people who just prefer the opposite gender's historical garb - helped me figure out my own gender identity.

I would say to your anon: you're joining at a very good time. By this point, all the assholes have left. XD

I hate that you can't be your authentic self openly. I love that you have a safe place to be who you are. I continue to work and hope for that safe place to be the whole fucking world.

Each district is themed around one of the 7 soul traits, and we’re working our way up the list!

This is Pacienco, the district of Patience

The rulers (that have been revealed) are King Krono Hayes, Queen Alicia Winterway, Princess Ellie Winterway, Princess Rin Winterway, General Kennari, and Bodyguard Kanashi Fukitsu

I really enjoy Pacienco’s distinct diamonds on the side of their clothing, and the Winterway family looks so cool! I wish we could know the Queen’s name, though
