Waffle Headcanons

-Like the bird she's based on she tends to cache food. Shortly after she started sharing with Hunter this habit became a bit out of hand until Hunter made some "pockets" for her.

-Also like blue jays she has a throat pouch that she sometimes stores objects in. Unlike the actual bird it is enhanced by magic and she can temporarily store more than just food. She learned from Hooty how to get around her limit of needing things to bypass her beak, though she still can't store anything bigger than herself. She is no longer left alone with Hooty, or at least as much as possible.

-Waffle likes peanuts! And other kinds of foods that have seed pods. They're the easiest to share...in more ways that one. (Thank titan for Waffle's pockets.)

-Like blue jays, but with some aspects more well known in other corvids like crows and ravens, Waffle can mimic sounds and even learns to speak witch/human languages. Though she usually keeps it simple around unfamiliar people.

-I recall a post after For The Future aired that commented on how similar Hunter and Amity's wishes were with their palismen, but how there was the nuance of Freedom vs Independence. For Waffle I imagine it to be similar: Flapjack was a choice when there seemingly none; while the wish for Waffle is about making choices on his own no matter other's pressures, how messy, even if he ends waffling (heh) on them. (And as a Palisman carver Hunter wants to extend that to others, like Flapjack did, and now Waffle does for him.)
