Lark had been incredulous when Stephen told her they would be taking a trip and it was acceptable for her to bring her sword. Considering that New York City--and specifically the university had strict laws about weapons. Still, she was happy to have it--it made her feel a bit more like herself and not some wayward soul lost to time.
Nothing could’ve prepared her for what she would see when they stepped out of the portal. The visage of New Asgard struck her in her chest, leaving a homesick ache that she thought she had long since buried.
So much green. Emerald as far as she could see, the plumage of the trees contrasting with the color of the flowers below them painted a picture of home. Of Hiraeth. Of The Spring Court.
She had to choke back a sob as a memory that had been hazy came crystal clear. Her home of Spring. She had to wonder if she would ever see it again. Lark hadn’t been listening to Stephen, and the next thing she knew, she stood before a tall, burly male with blonde hair.

Her fingers twitched and she lifted her hand to twist the golden ring on her wedding finger.
Lark bowed her head in respect.
“  It is good to meet you, Thor.” She greeted. “ I am Lark.” she said and pulled back the tresses of her hair to reveal her pointed ears.
“ As you can see I am not of this world either.” she hadn’t noticed when Stephen had gone, leaving them alone to converse. It didn’t bother her, if she were being honest. She knew she would find it difficult to leave New Asgard when her visit was over, but for now, let her mingle among people of similar ilk as her, and let her heart swell at the idea of home.
She pulled her cloak around her a bit as she stared up at the God.
“ Stephen said you’re the god of thunder?”

Lark had been sitting beside Diana for a while now. She enjoyed Stephen’s vast library of books both magical and mundane. It had aided in her not only for a place of respite where she could feel somewhat normal, but also aided her in learning the ways of the world in which she was not accustomed.
Diana had been even a bigger help.

Lark absent mindedly swung her feet while sitting on the stool with her book in her hand.
“ Diana?” she asked after a long while of silence. “ Last friday before my classes ended for the winter break, some of the other students called me...” she paused and pursed her lips, her mind searching for the word.
“ ...They called me Amish.” she canted her head to the side. “ Do you know what that means? Should I be offended?”

This world was too loud. Far too loud. New York City was the city of metal and concrete and Lark found it to be more invading than any foe she had faced. Even now, in the cool autumn breeze, she walked with purpose.
Stephen had given her something called a debit card and a simple explanation how to use it. She still didn’t understand but would not burden him with accompanying her on this quest for new clothes.
She would have to learn how to navigate this world and while Stephen had been accommodating--nothing could be better than experiencing the city first hand.
Dressed in a simple green blouse and a pair of dark leggings and a long cardigan, Lark entered the department store with a vacant expression. She wasn’t sure exactly what to buy--human tastes were so vastly different than her own. While it seemed perfectly acceptable for females to wear trousers and pants--wearing a flowing gown caused a lot of stares.

Lark meandered through the store, looking uninterested in any of the clothing. She cared not for what she wore, as long as it was comfortable. Instead her attention was caught by the gardening section. Rows of colorful plants and flowers struck her in her core--a reminder of her home. Though through the haze of memory, she couldn’t recall exactly where it was, but the colors she could remember, and how vast and diverse they were.
Reaching out to touch one of the flowers, she noted its plumage were not as vibrant as its sisters, without much thought, she let her power thrum from her finger tips, her eyes flashing a verdant hue just for a moment and the flower was restored to its prime. This earned a small smile from Lark. Some things never changed.
However, a chill spider walked down her spine as she shifted her gaze to the visage of another. She hadn’t been alone. Foolish to use her power so openly. She looked at the person with a taciturn expression.
“ I was just looking.” she said and released the flower from her grasp.
