With the reveal of Half Elf's mother just around the corner, i tho8ght i should post my theory that I've not been able to get out of my head. This is almost definitely reading too much into everything.
Half Elf's father could possibly be one of the Dread Templars.
He's the only other person besides the templars themselves that have black hair.
He has a preference for being 'Good'... every Templar has 'Good' in their title.
The Good Poet.
The Good Priest.
The Good Commander.
The Good King.
We don't know how elves or half elves age, its possible they age slower. Regalia is at least over one hundred years old, probably more since Ellomin citizens call her 'Old Regalia' in the song 'Ellomin' - 'raise a glass to Old Regalia, wherever she may be'
Regalia never mentioned how long ago she found Half Elf or where (besides from in a fallen tree)- Many years back in a tree that had fell, she found a baby, a half mutant elf'
And on THAT note. This confuses me the most. 'She tried to give him name but God rejected
He took absolutely no damage from falling down a deep chasm (but then again, Tamion seemed to be uninjured from the fall, too)
It's seems awfully convenient that Half Elf was missing from the first Templar fight, almost like fate was interfering. THEN The Prophet seems pretty adamant that Half Elf keeps away. (His prophecy didn't mention Martin or Bear Hound, so I hope they're both okay)
He was only out of breath when Bear Hound slashed at his spine. No claw marks or scratches. I'm presuming that Timmund's blade is the only thing that can hurt the Templars.
If there are any holes in any theory at all, let me know. I want more things to think about.
Obviously, everyone is welcome to add on to this or post your own theories. I welcome them very, very much.

been thinking about how hard MSQ must be on the body, especially for someone who isn't exactly in the best shape of their life. must be hard to keep up with the warrior of light! which ended up in a couple studies of how Negi's carried his weight through the whole adventure, with a couple extra mostly-non-spoilery notes on each expac~

My Notes about Engaging our Senses in Herbalism
Inspired by The Sensory Approach to Herbalism Workshop, a 3-part series by The Herbal Academy
Sensory herbalism is the practice of engaging our senses when working with an herbal ally, to get to know some of the effects they may have on our bodies through the physical sensations they bring when in contact with us. Specifically through the senses of taste, smell and touch. Besides helping us to, more intuitively, figure out in what ways an herbal ally may help us, it may also help us find new ways to experiment with old allies (always paired with good research and safety practices).
More importantly, with old and new allies alike, it is a practice that invites us back into being present when taking herbal medicines, and being conscious of what that medicine feels like in our bodies.
𝚃𝚊𝚜𝚝𝚎:
S̲w̲e̲e̲t̲: mostly comes from sugars, like monosaccharides (fructose, glucose, etc) and polysaccharides. They may not taste sweet like processed sugary foods—but sweet like starchy grains and root vegetables. This can indicate nourishing and demulcent qualities. Can help in coating and soothing tissues. Sometimes they are tonifying, and help to modulate the immune system. S̲o̲u̲r̲: mostly comes from organic acids. Cooling, refreshing and invigorating, but also astringent. They may help in lowering circulation, and aid to release excess heat and fire from the body. The sour taste promotes digestion by stimulating the production of digestive enzymes and fluids in the body, which in turn can enhance absorption (of nutrients or any other substances the sour ally is paired with). B̲i̲t̲t̲e̲r̲: tends to come from tannins and alkaloids, and from many other kinds of bitter peptides and polyphenols. These allies are cooling and drying. They also stimulate the digestive system and in turn enhance absorption. They move water and fluids around in the body and can promote liver function. S̲a̲l̲t̲y̲: indicates it may be high in minerals, like sodium and potassium. Water follows salt, therefore it also moves fluids in the body. Mild diuretic, can get rid of excess fluid and with them, toxins and waste products in the body. Can also soften hardened tissues and help reduce congestion.
𝚂𝚖𝚎𝚕𝚕:
Strong smell may indicate the presence of aromatic compounds, volatile oils or essential oils. Allies high in these compounds tend to be warming, relaxing, and help to disperse energy. Some are nervines, and may help with focus and reduce stress. May also have decongestive, carminative properties.
𝚃𝚘𝚞𝚌𝚑:
A̲s̲t̲r̲i̲n̲g̲e̲n̲t̲s̲: tend to come as tannins. You may feel their action as drying, toning, tightening the skin, or leaving your mouth dry. May help to reduce excess of fluids and tone tissues. M̲u̲c̲i̲l̲a̲g̲e̲n̲o̲u̲s̲: feel gel-like or watery, moisturizing. Demulcent, coating and soothing. May help to alleviate inflammation, cooling the body. Some are vulnerary, helping to heal wounds faster. P̲u̲n̲g̲e̲n̲t̲s̲: strong, hot or spicy taste and smell. Feel "hot" on the skin and leave a warm to burning sensation on the mouth. Their qualities are warming and diffusing. They can help to lower congestion, get rid of pain and inflammation, and raise blood flow in the body. They are often also antimicrobial. These allies tend to have a warming effect first, raising temperature, but a diaphoretic effect in the long term, acting against fever.
When engaging with any herbal preparation, it is a great practice to ask ourselves (or the recipient) "how does that feel in your body?", and to get familiar with the ways in which that medicine's effects on our bodies manifest to our senses. To learn the language of our own bodies, and to learn how our bodies communicate with (and work with, hand in hand) our herbal allies.

Magic can heal just as it can hurt.
There should be a stronger emphasis on this duality in the witchcraft community. Especially with the rise of baneful magic’s popularity.
Your ancestors were healers too, don’t forget it.

oak! moodboards!! 🏠💛
So hard to find fantasy stuff that matches the vibes, so you gotta abstract some stuff, but here's the Zahar Household moodboard!

And here's my take on Oak and Espen. I think I'm happier with the full board than the simplified one, but after a lot of tinkering I just post it. XD

Are you making a broth of some sort? Or a baked good?
"I guess you could call it a soup.", Herbalist grinned, him humming," Although it's not actually one. It's something called 'chicken and dumplings'. Shredded chicken with little dense bread balls cooked into the pot. The bread balls slowly melt, making it more soupy and stuff. As long as they don't melt fully that is. I just learned about it this morning and wanted to try it!"
He checked it and deemed it ready. He cheered," ah there we go! It's ready!" He turned off the stove, him moving to pot to a cool eye to keep it from overcooking. He then pulls out two bowls and used a ladle to scoop the contents into them. He chirped as he set two spoons into them and started to walk out of the room," oh I sure hope he likes it!"
