...The worst nightmare I've ever had, to the point where I still can't stand continuous tempo changes, was when I was young. This was around about twenty years ago, so the details have gotten a little fuzzy with age, but I was observing a toy factory. Rainbows, bright colors, cheerful music, creatures generally having a good time and also getting things done. The nightmare part was, solely and entirely, when the factory slowly began to gray out, the music getting slower and dingier like a music box winding down, drawers in the desk-shaped factory becoming locked.
This dream freaked me out for years. I remember going on a walk with my aunt and uncle, and opening up to them about this thing that had shook me to my bones that came out of the depths of my psyche.
I had this nightmare around about when Windows XP launched.
When I was little I had an irrational fear of when you tried to turn off your Windows XP and the screen would gradually turn Grey as you choose which power option to enter

That shit was SCARY!!!
#gif warning#was i scared of windows xp?????#like i have had bad wake-up-shaking nightmares and still they don't hold a candle#to the existential dread of an elementary schooler#...to be fair to windows xp said elementary schooler DID have untreated depression
