Nordic Cross Micronation Flag Wars: Round 1
This tournament focuses on the flags of micronations that feature Nordic crosses! Micronations are self-proclaimed nations that are not recognized as independent by any sovereign state. Most micronations exist for fun, being hobbies for their founders. Nordic crosses, also known as Scandinavian crosses, are a popular flag design for micronations. As I’ve been interested in holding a tournament for flags of micronations, as well as one for flags with Nordic crosses, I decided to combine them into one tournament!

Fourth Week of the Great Lent: Adoration of Cross. By Monastic Charter: Food without Oil
SAINT BENEDICT OF NURSIA, ABBOT (543)

Saint Benedict, founder of Western monasticism, was born in the Italian city of Nursia in the year 480. When he was fourteen years of age, the saint’s parents sent him to Rome to study. Unsettled by the immorality around him, he decided to devote himself to a different sort of life.
At first Saint Benedict settled near the church of the holy Apostle Peter in the village of Effedum, but news of his ascetic life compelled him to go farther into the mountains. There he encountered the hermit Romanus, who tonsured him into monasticism and directed him to live in a remote cave at Subiaco. From time to time, the hermit would bring him food.
For three years the saint waged a harsh struggle with temptations and conquered them. People soon began to gather to him, thirsting to live under his guidance. The number of disciples grew so much, that the saint divided them into twelve communities. Each community was comprised of twelve monks and was a separate skete. The saint gave each skete an igumen from among his experienced disciples, and only the novice monks remained with Saint Benedict for instruction.
The strict monastic Rule Saint Benedict established for the monks was not accepted by everyone, and more than once he was criticized and abused by dissenters.
Finally he settled in Campagna and on Mount Cassino he founded the Monte Cassino monastery, which for a long time was a center of theological education for the Western Church. The monastery possessed a remarkable library. Saint Benedict wrote his Rule, based on the experience of life of the Eastern desert-dwellers and the precepts of Saint John Cassian the Roman (February 29).
The Rule of Saint Benedict dominated Western monasticism for centuries (by the year 1595 it had appeared in more than 100 editions). The Rule prescribed the renunciation of personal possessions, as well as unconditional obedience, and constant work. It was considered the duty of older monks to teach the younger and to copy ancient manuscripts. This helped to preserve many memorable writings from the first centuries of Christianity.
Every new monk was required to live as a novice for a year, to learn the monastic Rule and to become acclimated to monastic life. Every deed required a blessing. The head of this cenobitic monastery is the igumen. He discerns, teaches, and explains. The igumen solicits the advice of the older, experienced brethren, but he makes the final decisions. Keeping the monastic Rule was strictly binding for everyone and was regarded as an important step on the way to perfection.
Saint Benedict was granted by the Lord the gift of foresight and wonderworking. He healed many by his prayers. The monk foretold the day of his death in 547. The main source for his Life is the second Dialogue of Saint Gregory.
Saint Benedict’s sister, Saint Scholastica (February 10), also became famous for her strict ascetic life and was numbered among the saints.
SAINT ROSTILAV-MICHAEL PRINCE OF KIEV (1167)

Saint Rostislav-Michael, Great Prince of Kiev, was the son of the Kievan Great Prince Saint Mstislav the Great (June 14), and the brother of holy Prince Vsevolod-Gabriel (February 11, April 22, and November 27). He was one of the great civil and churchly figures of the mid-twelfth century.
His name is connected with the fortification and rise of Smolensk, and both the Smolensk principality and the Smolensk diocese.
Up until the twelfth century the Smolensk land was part of the Kievan realm. The beginning of its political separation took place in the year 1125, when holy Prince Mstislav the Great, gave Smolensk to his son Rostislav (in Baptism Michael) as an inheritance from his father, the Kievan Great Prince Vladimir Monomakh. Thanks to the work and efforts of Saint Rostislav, the Smolensk principality, which he ruled for more than forty years, expanded and was built up with cities and villages, adorned with churches and monasteries, and became influential in Russian affairs.
Saint Rostislav founded the cities of Rostislavl, Mstislavl, Krichev, Propoisk, and Vasiliev among others. He was the forefather of the Smolensk princely dynasty.
In 1136 Saint Rostislav succeeded in establishing a separate Smolensk diocese. Its first bishop was Manuel, installed between March-May of 1136 by Metropolitan Michael of Kiev. Prince Rostislav issued an edict in the city of Smolensk assuring Bishop Manuel that he would provide him with whatever he needed. On September 30, 1150 Saint Rostislav also ceded Cathedral Hill at Smolensk to the Smolensk diocese, where the Dormition cathedral and other diocesan buildings stood.
Contemporaries thought highly of the church construction of Prince Rostislav. Even the sources that are inclined to report nothing more about it note that “this prince built the church of the Theotokos at Smolensk.” The Dormition cathedral, originally built by his grandfather, Vladimir Monomakh, in the year 1101 was rebuilt and expanded under Prince Rostislav. The rebuilt cathedral was consecrated by Bishop Manuel on the Feast of the Dormition, August 15, 1150. Prince Rostislav was a “builder of the Church” in a far wider sense: he endowed the Smolensk Dormition church of the Mother of God, and transformed it from a city cathedral into the ecclesiastical center of the vast Smolensk diocese.
Holy Prince Rostislav was the builder of the Smolensk Kremlin, and of the Savior cathedral at the Smyadynsk Boris and Gleb monastery, founded on the place of the murder of holy Prince Gleb (September 5). Later his son David, possibly fulfilling the wishes of his father, transferred the old wooden coffins of Saints Boris and Gleb from Kievan Vyshgorod to Smyadyn.
In the decade of the fifties of the twelfth century, Saint Rostislav was drawn into a prolonged struggle for Kiev, which involved representatives of the two strongest princely lines: the Olgovichi and the Monomakhovichi.
On the Monomakhovichi side the major contender to be Great Prince was Rostislav’s uncle, Yurii Dolgoruky. Rostislav, as Prince of Smolensk, was one of the most powerful rulers of the Russian land and had a decisive voice in military and diplomatic negotiations.
For everyone involved in the dispute, Rostislav was both a dangerous opponent and a desired ally, and he was at the center of events. This had a providential significance, since Saint Rostislav distinguished himself by his wisdom regarding the civil realm, by his strict sense of justice and unconditional obedience to elders, and by his deep respect for the Church and its hierarchy. For several generations he was the bearer of the “Russkaya Pravda” (“Russian Truth”) and of Russian propriety.
After the death of his brother Izyaslav (November 13, 1154), Saint Rostislav became Great Prince of Kiev, but he ruled Kiev at the same time with his uncle Vyacheslav Vladimirovich. After the latter’s death, Rostislav returned to Smolensk, ceding the Kiev princedom to his other uncle, Yurii Dolgoruky, and he removed himself from the bloodshed of the princely disputes. He occupied Kiev a second time on April 12, 1159 and he then remained Great Prince until his death (+ 1167). More than once, he had to defend his paternal inheritance with sword in hand.
The years of Saint Rostislav’s rule occurred during one of the most complicated periods in the history of the Russian Church. The elder brother of Rostislav, Izyaslav Mstislavich, a proponent of the autocephaly of the Russian Church, favored the erudite Russian monk Clement Smolyatich for Metropolitan, and wanted him to be made Metropolitan by a council of Russian bishops, without seeking the usual approval from the Patriarch of Constantinople. This occurred in the year 1147.
The Russian hierarchy basically supported Metropolitan Clement and Prince Izyaslav in their struggle for ecclesiastical independence from Constantinople, but several bishops headed by Saint Niphon of Novgorod (April 8), did not recognize the autocephaly of the Russian metropolitanate and shunned communion with it, having transformed their dioceses into independent ecclesial districts, pending the resolution of this question. Bishop Manuel of Smolensk also followed this course. Saint Rostislav understood the danger which lay hidden beneath the idea of Russian autocephaly for these times, which threatened the break-up of Rus. The constant fighting over Kiev among the princes might also lead to a similar fight over the Kievan See among numerous contenders, put forth by one princely group or another.
The premonitions of Saint Rostislav were fully justified. Yurii Dolgoruky, who remained loyal to Constantinople, occupied Kiev in the year 1154. He immediately banished Metropolitan Clement and petitioned Constantinople for a new Metropolitan. This was to be Saint Constantine (June 5), but he arrived in Rus only in the year 1156, six months before the death of Yurii Dolgoruky (+ May 15, 1157). Six months later, when Saint Rostislav’s nephew Mstislav Izyaslavich entered the city on December 22, 1157, Saint Constanine was obliged to flee Kiev, while the deposed Clement Smolyatich returned as Metropolitan. Then a time of disorder began in Russia, for there were two Metropolitans.
All the hierarchy and the clergy came under interdict: the Greek Metropolitan suspended the Russian supporters of Clement, and Clement suspended all the supporters of Constantine. To halt the scandal, Saint Rostislav and Mstislav decided to remove both Metropolitans and petition the Patriarch of Constantinople to appoint a new archpastor for the Russian metropolitan See.
But this compromise did not end the matter. Arriving in Kiev in the autumn of 1161, Metropolitan Theodore died in spring of the following year. Following the example of Saint Andrew Bogoliubsky (July 4), who supported his own fellow ascetic Bishop Theodore to be Metropolitan, Saint Rostislav put forth his own candidate, who turned out to be the much-suffering Clement Smolyatich.
The fact that the Great Prince had changed his attitude toward Metropolitan Clement, shows the influence of the Kiev Caves monastery, and in particular of Archimandrite Polycarp. Archimandrite Polycarp, who followed the traditions of the Caves (in 1165 he became head of the monastery), was personally very close to Saint Rostislav.
Saint Rostislav had the pious custom of inviting the igumen and twelve monks to his own table on the Saturdays and Sundays of Great Lent, and he served them himself. The prince more than once expressed the wish to be tonsured a monk at the monastery of Saints Anthony and Theodosius, and he even gave orders to build a cell for him.
The monks of the Caves, a tremendous spiritual influence in ancient Rus, encouraged the prince to think about the independence of the Russian Church. Moreover, during those years in Rus, there was suspicion regarding the Orthodoxy of the bishops which came from among the Greeks, because of the notorious “Dispute about the Fasts” (the “Leontian Heresy”). Saint Rostislav’s pious intent to obtain the blessing of the Patriarch of Constantinople for Metropolitan Clement came to naught. The Greeks believed that appointing a Metropolitan to the Kiev cathedra was one of their most important prerogatives. This served not only the ecclesiastical, but also the political interests of the Byzantine Empire.
In 1165 a new Greek Metropolitan arrived at Kiev, John IV, and Saint Rostislav accepted him out of humility and churchly obedience. The new Metropolitan, like his predecessor, governed the Russian Church for less than a year (+ 1166). The See of Kiev was again left vacant, and the Great Prince was deprived of the fatherly counsel and spiritual wisdom of a Metropolitan. His sole spiritual solace was the igumen Polycarp and the holy Elders of the Kiev Caves monastery and the Theodorov monastery at Kiev, which had been founded under his father.
Returning from a campaign against Novgorod in the spring of 1167, Saint Rostislav fell ill. When he reached Smolensk, where his son Roman was prince, relatives urged him to remain at Smolensk. But the Great Prince gave orders to take him to Kiev. “If I die along the way,” he declared, “put me in my father’s monastery of Saint Theodore. If God should heal me, through the prayers of His All-Pure Mother and Saint Theodosius, I shall take vows at the monastery of the Caves.”
God did not fulfill Saint Rostislav’s last wish to end his life as a monk of the holy monastery. The holy prince died on the way to Kiev on March 14, 1167. (In other historical sources the year is given as 1168). His body, in accord with his last wishes, was brought to the Kiev Theodosiev monastery.

8 What are their signature weapons or magical abilities?
For the weapons:
Shamura -> Godly spear (athena reference)
Kallamar -> depends on how he's feeling, mostly a dagger
Heket -> warhammer
Leshy -> grenades.
As magical abilities, aside from the standard powers shown in games (telekynesis, transforming, curses etc), every crown has some unique abilities (related to the area of expertise I mentioned here)
Leshy's crown can generate natural disasters like earthquakes and accelerate the growth of plants; these ability got pretty nerfed due to lore reasons.
The yellow crown aside from making people starve can also modify the eating habits of a mortal being and grant some permanent changes to help them become a better hubter (example, a rabbit follower could request to become a carnivour and gain canines and claws)
The blue crown can remove or cause pain (basically kallamar can recreate the meme "projecting my period cramps over x")
The purple crown is the only thing that can kill another crown and negate another crown ability. That's the principal reason why they were able to kill so many gods without having to worry about their possible successors.
10 How do they each maintain or decorate their crowns?
They had to clean them up (expecially after using them in battle), but otherwise there was no need to maintain them.
Also the crowns can take the form of a small animal so. You can picture Shamura trying to bath a bloody mouse after a battle.
14 Do they have any pets or companions within their temples?
Aside from the crown, Leshy used to have some pet squirrels, but after the third died of old age he basicaly went "hey this actually sucks" and never got another pet.
All the others never got a pet; as for companions, Witnesses and disciples were the mortals they spended the most time with (there was a guy with who Leshy spended ten years of his life but he was not in the temple so he doesn't count).

BREAKING INTO GLORIOUS PROVISION
The main idea for breakthrough comes from the breakthrough of water from 2 Samuel 5:20: "So David went to Baal Perazim (which means "possessor of the breaches"), and David defeated them there; and he said, "The LORD has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water."
The word breakthrough comes from the Hebrew word "perets" which means "To break out." In the areas that we are believing God for breakthrough in, we should also believe Him to break out from the very center of the situation. Zephaniah 3:17 declares "the Lord thy God in the midst of you is mighty." In this verse the word midst means: the nearest part, that is, the center -- the word mighty means: a powerful, warrior champion.
The Lord wants to come as a powerful, warrior champion to show Himself strong in the midst of all hindrances, obstacles and blockades that the enemy has erected to stop the flow of your bearing fruit that remains for God's Kingdom.
Whether it's breakthrough in physical healing, financial provision, relationship issues, ministry or any number of areas, God's desire is to bring manifested breakthrough.
⦁ THE MANIFESTED POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT:
The Holy Spirit, the most powerful force in the universe, is very active on Planet Earth today with His objective to displace the kingodm of darkness with God's ever-advancing Kingdom.
The declaration of Romans 8:11 is this: "But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you." We need to believe God and ask Him for the release of Holy Spirit power – the power of the resurrection in our lives so we can bring forth the Great Commission.
Scripture also says that, as we come to understand our Christ identity, the anointing BREAKS the yoke. Many Believers these days are walking around with heavy yolks of everything from religious expectations to orphaned thinking and condemnation. God's desire is to manifest BREAKTHROUGH to obliterate yolks by the anointing (Isaiah 10:27).
⦁ JESUS CALMING THE SEA:
There are times that the manifestation of breakthrough is going to come in the release of great peace into a situation.
In Mark 4, Jesus stood in the midst of a storm that the disciples thought was life threatening. In the midst of that storm He declared, "Peace, be still" (verse 39).
It's interesting that the response of the storm was not to just ease up a bit, but the Bible says, "the wind ceased, and there was a great calm." God wants to bring great calm into the many storms of life that we face. Even if the circumstances of that storm do not change immediately, we can still receive "a great calm" deep inside our hearts.
⦁ NEW BEGINNINGS
Isaiah 43:19 - Nothing compares to what I'm going to do with you says the Lord! Behold, I am going to do a brand new thing with you personally. See, I've already begun to do it. Don't you see it?
In the land of New Beginnings, we must remove the masks and veils that a life absorbed in self has formed in the past season so we can now discern our new vision concerning our Christ calling. Isaiah 41:15 ("Behold, I will make you to be a new, sharp, threshing instrument which has teeth; you shall thresh the mountains and beat them small, and shall make the hills like chaff") has become a key word for us. There is a new understanding for us in the invisible world. This will allow us to display the wisdom of God to the powers and principalities that have blocked you in past seasons.
Jesus says: 'You shall see the Heaven OPENED, and a way between Heaven and earth, between God and man, made clear. I am that way. I will open Heaven by My own blood.'
"Then He added, 'In truth, in very truth I tell you all, you shall see heaven wide open…..'" - John 1:51
Your time in communion with the Lord will raise you to that "Come up here, let me show you something you didn't know before" place for substantial breakthrough. "I saw a door open in heaven and heard the same voice speaking to me, the voice like a trumpet, saying 'Come up here: I will show you what is to come in the future.'" - Revelation 4:1
PRAYER:
Lord, I ask you now to pour out the Spirit of the Overcomer. I lift up my head and receive the King of Glory to breakthrough so that I can breakout. Lord, stir me out of the wilderness and grip me with a holy violence and jealousy to lay hold of my Christ calling and DESTINY in Christ. I am available to do great exploits in moving your Great Commission forward in Your Name! - Amen

NOR IS THERE SALVATION IN ANY OTHER
"NOR IS THERE SALVATION IN ANY OTHER, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Acts 4:12 (NKJV)
Comment: The name of Jesus Christ is the only name given under heaven through which men, humans, must be saved. There is no name of any religion leader through which humans could be saved, It is only through Jesus Christ that God can be accessed (John 14:6).
This is where being born-again, or being a disciple of Christ Jesus, or being a professed believer is different from practicing a religion.
Christianity could be considered a religion or be named alongside with other religions of the world; however, going through Christ Jesus to reach or access God is different, It is not a religion. When you go through Christ Jesus to access God, you establish a relationship with Him—God.
What is a relationship?
It is rendered thus by a dictionary:
a. the state of being connected or related
b. association by blood or marriage; kinship
c. the mutual dealings, connections, or feelings that exist between two parties, countries, people, etc
In other words, relationship means the state of being connected; where mutual dealings or feelings exist between two parties or people.
a. When you believed in your heart and confessed with your mouth the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus, you are saved or born-again (Romans 10:9,10)—you are reconciled to God and established a relationship with Him (2 Corinthians 5:18).
b. A Believer is said to be righteous when he or she put their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus, thus, the righteousness of Jesus Christ was imputed to or laid-on them: "FOR HE [God] MADE HIM [Jesus] WHO KNEW NO SIN TO BE SIN FOR US [mankind or humans], THAT WE MIGHT BECOME THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN HIM [Jesus]" (1 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV).
When a relationship is established with God through Christ Jesus, the relationship is expected to grow, like any other relationship.
So, when someone establishes a relationship with God, the person would have to work on the relationship for It to grow and deliver or produce all the benefits or blessings in the relationship.
There are principles that guide every relationship, so, that with God is not exceptional.
a. You would have to understand your partner in the relationship. And, of course, God is the senior or principal partner in your relationship with Him—God.
b. What your partner wants or likes or does not like. Since God is not a physical Being, someone who can be seen physically; He is a Spirit. Your relationship with Him, God, would have to be in the spirit (John 4:24).
c. The next thing is how would you understand Him, God, that the relationship might grow and the necessary benefits be derived through it?
The only means through which God can be known and understood is through His Word, the Bible. Those who walked with Him, God, documented their experiences in the written form, thus, we have the written Word, the Bible.
So, you get to know God through the written Word, the documented experiences of those who had walked with Him.
Therefore, whoever is in a relationship with God, a new believer, would have to be conversant with—versed in or adept at—the written Word, the Bible, in order to know and understand God (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 119:11).
When the person, the new believer, started practicing what he or she got to know or learned through the written Word, the Bible; they also would begin to have deeper knowledge of Him, God, and the relationship would get strengthened—It will grow into fellowship or communion. It is at this level the believer would begin to derive the maximum benefits of his or her relationship with God.
So, Christianity or being born-again or being a disciple of Christ Jesus is not a religion in which you would have to rigidly follow some rules or laws; in which If you missed any, you would be struck dead by One Supernatural Being known as God. No (Colossians 2:20-23).
Rather, It is a walking with God in a Father-son-or-daughter's relationship, which ultimately resulted in communion or fellowship (John 17:20-22; Galatians 5:13).
Thus, there is no salvation in any other, except Christ Jesus!

The 5th sorrow is Mother Mary having to watch her son be torturously executed; and all she can do is watch unable to help her very own son. It is the defining moment of Mary "Our Lady of Sorrows" development.

The Gospel of John is the only one that describes these women, including Mother Mary, as directly near the cross. Out of four Biblical accounts this seems to be the most 'popular' among Christian tradition.
The Gospels of Matthew and Mark mentions Mary Magdelene; Mary the mother of James & Joseph, and Salome the Apostle (mother of Zebedee's sons); as well as "many other women" but Mother Mary is not mentioned by name. The Gospel of Luke only mentions "many women". All three Gospels other than John mention as watching from a distance the various things (eclipse, earthquake) happen during Jesus' death.
Jesus tells John the Apostle to care for his mother, and tells his mother to consider John her own son. It is widely understood that the Gospel of John is very different in details compared to the "synoptic Gospels" of Matthew, Mark, and Luke.
The Seven Sorrows were compiled in medieval Europe so it makes sense that the most 'popular' account would be the one to make the list and the one that founded the concept of Mary Our Lady of Sorrows.

This was a very popular aspect of The Passion of Christ which led to the "Stabat Mater" Hymn composed in the 13th century, the same century as the first devotions of Our Lady of Sorrows that focused on her standing at the cross. Ten Principal Disciples of Lord Buddha: Torchbearers of Dharma
The life of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, is synonymous with the profound purpose of alleviating the suffering of all sentient beings. During his forty-five years of earthly existence, the Buddha encountered numerous individuals, and his transformative interactions inspired many to become his disciples. Among the multitude who embraced his teachings, ten disciples emerged as the principal torchbearers of Lord Buddha's dharma, carrying forth the essence of enlightenment far and wide.
1. **Sariputra (Upatissa):** Renowned as one of the two chief male disciples, Sariputra, also known as Upatissa, shared this eminent position with Moggallana. Born on the same day as Moggallana, Sariputra attained Nirvana and became an Arhat, celebrated for being "Foremost in Wisdom." His profound understanding earned him praise from the Buddha, and his wisdom became a guiding light for future generations.
2. **Moggallana (Maudgalyayana):** A close friend of Sariputra, Moggallana, also known as Maudgalyayana, stood as the other chief male disciple of Lord Buddha. Endowed with transcendental powers, Moggallana, depicted with a dark complexion, played a crucial role in aiding people through his psychic abilities. His passing, occurring two weeks after Sariputra's death, marked the end of an era.
3. **Mahakasyapa:** Revered for his ascetic practices, Mahakasyapa emerged as a key figure in the post-Buddha era. Following the Buddha's final nirvana, Mahakasyapa and 500 disciples compiled Buddha's Suttas, assuming leadership of the Sangha. As the "father of sangha," Mahakasyapa became the first to directly preach the teachings and sutras of the Buddha.
4. **Subhuti:** As one of the ten Great Disciples, Subhuti stood out for his deep understanding of the doctrine of emptiness. Mentioned in the Prajnaparamita of Mahayana Buddhism, Subhuti's prominence lay in grasping the profound concept of emptiness, contributing to the expansive tapestry of Buddhist thought.
5. **Purna Maitrayani-Putra:** Known for his enthusiastic preaching, Purna, also called Purna Maitrayani-Putra, dedicated himself to ensuring the future of Buddhism. While there is no evidence of his Nirvana, Purna's focus on spreading the seeds of Buddhism and serving the public underscored his commitment to the Buddha's teachings.
6. **Katyayana (Mahakatyayana):** Distinguished as foremost in spreading the Dharma, Katyayana played a pivotal role in disseminating the teachings of Lord Buddha. His profound understanding of Buddha's lectures positioned him as a key figure in the transmission of the Dharma.
7. **Anuradha:** A cousin of Shakyamuni Buddha, Anuradha, alongside Ananda, became a disciple of Lord Buddha. Renowned for his divine insight and mastery of clairvoyance, Anuradha's journey included a self-imposed vow not to sleep, leading to the loss of his sight. Later, he regained vision, believed to possess the power to perceive truth.
8. **Upali:** Originating from the lowest class of Indian society and working as a barber, Upali's journey to discipleship was marked by hesitancy. Foremost in observing precepts, Upali joined Lord Buddha when he was cutting his hair. Later, Upali's transformation led him to become an Arhat, chief disciple, and a key figure in the development of the Vinaya School.
9. **Rahula:** The only son of Shakyamuni Buddha before his enlightenment, Rahula became a monk at a young age. Achieving Enlightenment at 18, Rahula's early entry into monkhood and subsequent spiritual attainment marked him as one of the Ten Great Disciples.
10. **Ananda:** Renowned for his exceptional hearing of Buddha's teachings, Ananda, alongside Anuradha, was a cousin of Lord Buddha and became a disciple simultaneously. The term "Ananda" meaning "great delight" epitomized his role as the caretaker of Lord Buddha for 25 years, illustrating his unwavering dedication to preserving and disseminating the Buddha's words.
These Ten Principal Disciples of Lord Buddha, each excelling in distinct qualities, became pillars of Buddhism, ensuring the propagation of the dharma and the enlightenment path for generations to come.

Angels in the Bible and the Liturgy
For an angel of peace... One of the things we pray for at every Liturgy is for an angel to guard us and guide us. Each of us has been given a guardian angel. It is about our guardian angels that the Lord Jesus spoke of when He admonished His disciples not to "look down" on children, "for I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven" (Matthew 18:10-11). And during Baptism, the celebrating priest prays specifically that an angel of light be assigned to the child being baptized. [...]
The Liturgy speaks over and over again about the reality of angels and archangels, the cherubim and the seraphim. The Scriptures witness to the reality of angels from beginning to end, from Genesis to the Book of Revelation. What are angels? The word 'angel' is a Greek word that means 'messenger'. Angels are purely spiritual beings that have often served as God's messengers at critical times in human history. In the Old Testament, the Archangel Michael appears to the prophet Daniel (Daniel 10:13) and is mentioned again in Jude 9 and the Book of Revelation (Revelation 12:7). In the New Testament, the Archangel Gabriel appears to both Zechariah to announce the birth of his son, John the Baptist (Luke 1:10-20); and to Mary the Theotokos to announce the birth of her son, our Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 1:26-37). An angel comforts the Lord Jesus in the Garden of Gethesemane shortly before His crucifixion (Luke 22:43); and angels announce His resurrection to the women who come to His tomb and find it empty (Luke 24:4-7). At the Second Coming, the Gospel of Matthew (Matthew 25:31) tells us that the Lord will be escorted by "all the angels".
The Scriptures mention many different kinds or ranks of angels. The cherubim and the seraphim are mentioned throughout the Old Testament and are particularly associated with the Temple in Jerusalem and the Ark of the Covenant by the prophets Isaiah and Ezekiel. In fact, the angelic hymn that Isaiah (Isaiah 6:5) heard sung by the seraphim in the Temple: "Holy, holy, holy Lord God of Sabaoth: Heaven and earth are full of Your glory" is still sung at every celebration of the Liturgy to this day. In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul mentions other types of angels such as thrones, powers and principalities (Colossians 1:16; Ephesians 1:21). The role of angels has been significant in the history of our salvation as well as in our praise and worship of the living God during the Liturgy. We believe that if we listen carefully to the message of the angels, we can often hear the voice of God in our lives.

In the Central American hinterlands, it is sometimes difficult to distinguish CIA operatives from the Rev. Sun Myung Moon’s disciples. They appear to be working in harness against the communist-tainted Sandinista regime in Nicaragua.
This troubles at least one Pentagon analyst, now stationed in Korea, who has warned the White House that the CIA-Moonie connection could cause possible political damage to President Reagan’s re-election campaign.
The analyst’s unofficial memo, “Potential Problems,” has been slipped to my associate Donald Goldberg.
“Current Moonie involvement with government officials, contractors and grantees [in Central America] could create a major scandal,” the memo warns. “If their activities and role become public knowledge, it will unite both the left and the right in attacking the administration.”
The memo continues: “If efforts are not taken to stop their growing influence and weed out current Moonie involvement in government, the president stands a good chance of being portrayed in the media as a poor, naive incompetent who is strong on ideology and weak on common sense. …
“The likelihood of a reporter or a Democratic staff member piecing the total picture together is too great to be neglected. Any thought that this festering problem will go away if ignored is foolish.”
The “total picture” of Moon’s activities in Latin America is not clear. But there is no doubt that the Korean messiah – now in prison for income tax evasion [and document forgery and perjury] – has established a solid presence in the region, with ties to right-wing groups and U.S.-supported guerrillas.
My associate John Lee Anderson reports from Central America that CAUSA international, Moon’s political front, has representatives working in programs that help the CIA in its “contra” war against the Sandinista government.
CAUSA maintains a publicity office in Tegucigalpa, the Honduran capital, but its principal activities are in the field. CAUSA provides cash and other aid to Honduran-based Nicaraguan contras and Honduran right-wing political groups. Many anti-Sandinista guerrillas wear red CAUSA T-shirts with a map of the world on them.
But CAUSA and its affiliate, the Refugee Relief Freedom Foundation, provide more than T-shirts to rebel groups. They also funnel supplies to refugee families in and near contra camps and pay for trips by rebel leaders to the United States.
One contra leader, Fernando “El Negro” Chamorro, told my associate that as early as 1981, CAUSA representatives sent him on an all-expenses paid trip to the United States to try to unify the Nicaraguan exile groups.
The airlift of supplies to the rebels by Moon’s Unification Church has escalated since congress cut off CIA funding for the contras. The administration has been attempting to “privatize” its war against the Sandinistas and is apparently willing to work with Moon’s people.
Footnote: A Unification Church official denied that the church is engaged in any but religious activities in Central America.

AUTHORITY AND POWER HAVE A COST Fourth, we must be aware that there is a cost to operating in kingdom authority and power. It is not a passive stance. Authority only functions when you operate in the confines of the instruction of the one delegating it to you. This means we cannot be estranged from God’s Manual, or Word, and maintain legal power to operate. If the enemy can disconnect us from our spiritual source, he can strip us of our power.
Christ Jesus was aware of and deliberate in acknowledging the source of His power:
Then answered Jesus and said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, The Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do: for what things soever He does, these also does the Son likewise. (John 5:19) It is the case for millions of people that, even after receiving Christ and experiencing being born again, within a very short time, they become lukewarm or cold concerning the things of God. Why is that?
There are various factors. Perhaps they were not discipled or did not maintain a connection with their local church (if they had one) and therefore fell into stagnation. I emphasize this because I know howeasy it can be to stray from or become disconnected from God and the life of His Spirit.
It does not matter how ecstatic or illustrious our encounters with God may be, the accuser of the brethren is forever on a mission to divert our attention from the Creator so that we do not come into the full manifestation of His power in us. Remember that Satan’s motivation is “to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” (John 10:10). Yes, there are costs to maintaining our relationship with God, such as vigilance and continually allowing His Word to conform us to the image of His Son. However, the costs are greater if we become estranged from God and His Word, as well as from the body of Christ.
Jesus always operated in the anointing for which He came to earth. But we must remember what it cost Jesus to redeem us.
Christ’s obedience to God the Father required Him to operate within the parameters the Father had given Him and to rely totally on the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus not only paid a price of obedience and sacrifice throughout His three years of ministry, but He also paid the ultimate price—death on a cross. As a result, the Father set Him “far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come” (Ephesians 1:21). Thank You, Jesus!
Because Jesus paid the full cost, died for our sins, and rose triumphantly, He is the One who is able to sustain and help us. You and I function from His power, not our own.
Now to Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
(Ephesians 3:20) It is Jesus’s responsibility to save and deliver, and it is our responsibility to abide in Him. Again, it is His power that works in us when we stay connected to our source. That is why our stance in Christ has to be deliberate. We have to be available for Him to use us in His purposes; we must sacrifice our time and energy to read, study, and meditate on the Word of God; we need to operate as God wills and to surrender to His plans for our lives.☕️Kynan Bridges

Day 24: “I Never Knew Daylight Could Be So Violent.” — Hamilton — How can the sun still rise when so much horror has come to pass? How can the world still spin?
Day 26: Nightmares + Breakfast Table — Hamilton · Modern — Aaron's daughter is always hanging around that Hamilton kid. He doesn't mind it as much as he pretends to— Philip is a sweet boy, after all, and it gives Aaron the excuse he needs to see his former friend despite bridges being burned to a crisp. But when Aaron get's a phone call one stormy night, everything changes.

La paix est une chose que tout le monde souhaite, mais que peu de gens semblent trouver. Qu'est-ce que la paix ? On peut la définir comme "la tranquillité, l'harmonie ou la sécurité". Selon la situation, elle peut signifier "prospérité" ou "bien-être". Les différentes formes du mot paix se retrouvent 429 fois dans la version King James de la Bible. Il existe différents types de paix : la fausse paix, la paix intérieure, la paix avec Dieu et la paix avec les hommes.
Dans l'Ancien Testament, le mot hébreu principal pour "paix" est shalom, et il se réfère aux relations entre les personnes (Genèse 34:21), les nations (1 Rois 5:12), et Dieu avec les hommes (Psaume 85:8). La paix est un état désiré dans chacun de ces domaines, et le shalom est souvent lié à une alliance ou à une promesse tenue. Un ami familier (littéralement, "ami de ma paix" dans le Psaume 41:9) est quelqu'un avec qui on se sent à l'aise, un compagnon de confiance. La "paix" était la formule de salutation habituelle (1 Samuel 25:6), encore utilisée dans de nombreuses cultures aujourd'hui.
La paix est directement liée aux actions et aux attitudes des individus, mais elle est en fin de compte un don de Dieu (Esaïe 45:7 ; Lévitique 26:6 ; Jean 14:27). Les hommes trompeurs parlent de paix tout en préparant secrètement le mal (Abdias 1:7). L'Antéchrist confirmera un traité, produisant une paix temporaire qu'il brisera ensuite brusquement en révélant son vrai visage (Daniel 9:27). Les faux enseignants proclament la paix alors que Dieu annonce en réalité le jugement (Ezéchiel 13:10-16). A l'époque de Jérémie, les chefs religieux ne traitaient que les symptômes des problèmes nationaux, sans s'attaquer à la racine pécheresse de la crise. Ces faux prophètes déclaraient que tout allait bien entre Dieu et Israël : "La paix, la paix", disaient-ils, alors qu'il n'y avait pas de paix réelle (Jérémie 6:14).
Dans le Nouveau Testament, le mot grec principal pour "paix" est eirene, et il fait référence au repos et à la tranquillité. L'avènement de Jésus-Christ, annoncé par les anges dans Luc 2:14 ("Paix sur la terre..."), est un élément clé de la paix dans le Nouveau Testament. Esaïe avait prédit que le Messie serait le Prince de la paix (Esaïe 9:6), et il est appelé le Seigneur de la paix dans 2 Thessaloniciens 3:16. Cela signifie que nous avons le choix entre faire confiance aux promesses de Dieu (laisser sa paix régner) ou compter sur nous-mêmes et rejeter la paix qu'il offre. Jésus a donné à ses disciples une paix basée sur la vérité qu'il a vaincu le monde (Jean 14:27 ; 16:33). La paix est un fruit de l'Esprit, donc si nous permettons à l'Esprit de Dieu de régner dans nos vies, nous expérimenterons sa paix (Galates 5:22-23). L'esprit spirituel apporte la vie et la paix, selon Romains 8:6.
Le monde continuera à connaître des guerres et des conflits interpersonnels jusqu'à ce que Jésus vienne établir une paix véritable et durable (voir Ésaïe 11:1-10), mais Dieu donnera sa paix à ceux qui lui font confiance. Jésus a pris sur lui le châtiment qui nous donne la paix (Ésaïe 53:5) et nous a permis d'avoir la paix avec Dieu. Une fois que sa paix règne dans nos cœurs, nous sommes capables de partager cette paix avec les autres ; nous devenons des éditeurs de paix (Ésaïe 52:7) et des ministres de la réconciliation (2 Corinthiens 5:18).

LET US GO FORTH INTO THE FIELD
And He said to them all, "If any man will [willingly choose to] come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me." Luke 9:23
Each of us who desires to personally know and serve the Lord must first make this life-changing decision to "take up our cross." When we willingly do this, our present relationship to the Lord, and also our eternal position in the ages to come, will be greatly affected.
If we accept this challenge ("If anyone will come after Me"), the taking up of our cross is the ultimate sacrifice in our lives that has us abandoning other interests in favor of advancing His Kingdom , bearing fruit that remains through our Christ calling.
Come, My beloved, let us go forth into the field; let us lodge in the villages. Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine flourish, whether the tender grape appear, and the pomegranates bud forth: there will I give thee My loves. Song of Solomon 7:11-12
Once we have received this "gift" of eternal life through the Blood of Jesus and the regeneration of the Holy Spirit, we will begin to face choices that affect our rate of spiritual growth, as well as our position in the eternal ages before us.
OUR CHRIST IDENTITY
Once we have received this "gift" of eternal life through the Blood of Jesus and the regeneration of the Holy Spirit, it is imperative that we come to understand our Christ identity. In Colossians 2:9 we discover this central fact concerning Christ Jesus: "For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily." Our outlook on life is changed as we comtemplate: "And you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power." (Colossians 2:10)
"You are complete," which means we lack nothing at all, as we abide in Him. Abiding in the love of Christ and allowing His love to flow freely out of us enables us to function with the greatest degree of success, thus discovering our passion to disciple others into a higher understanding of Jesus and their Christ identity.
Matthew 7:8 -- "For everyone who keeps on asking receives; and he who keeps on seeking finds; and to him who keeps on on knocking, the door will be opened." AMP
We are to ask, knock, and seek until we come to understand and begin carrying out God’s purpose for our life. We are called to succeed in advancing the Kingdom of God on earth, bearing fruit that remains that equips and sends out others to bring forth the Great Commission, -- to walk in overcoming victory: "…because as He is, so are we in this world" (1 John 4:17)
Romans 6:11,13,14 - "Think of yourselves as dead to sin but alive to God in union with Christ Jesus. Nor must you surrender any part of yourselves to sin, to be used for wicked purposes. Instead, give yourselves to God, as men who have been brought from death to life, and surrender your whole being to Him to be used for righteous purposes….you do not live under law but under God's grace."
EMPTYING OURSELVES
The yielded life is essential for us to walk in the fullness of our Christ calling -- as we empty ourselves of the things we hold on to, allowing Him to have His perfect work within us.
"To him who is overcoming, I will give him to eat from the hidden manna, and I will give to him a white stone, and upon the stone a new name written, that no one knew except him who is receiving [it]." - Revelation 2:17 Young's Literal Translation
The promise of the Lord is "to him that overcomes." As we overcome our "self-life" through living in a Kingdom consciousness as opposed to a world consciousness, and willing obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit -- He will bring into our life experience the "good land," -- as we are prepared to bear fruit that remains for the harvest.

You think you're better than Jesus? You think that you DESERVE better than the LITERAL SON OF GOD who gave up His home in heaven for a time and dressed Himself in the smelly, dirty flesh of humanity just so He could DIE and SHED HIS BLOOD for your sins? Including your sins of pride and rebellion that show themselves when you try to say you deserve better than what God has given you?
JUST WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!?
