I did the thing I said I wouldn’t and find myself falling quickly for you. In defense of myself, I’ve never been good at slow and steady.

I was doing quite well at keeping the rising desire tamed, but you held me too tightly and so closely. You kissed me too sweetly. You felt too much like a home; I can’t help myself.

So now I’m imaging a future with you and your smiling dog, filled with nature excursions and learning how to go camping. You’ll fill the spaces between my fingers that I didn’t know ever could be, and I’ll write you poetry while you sleep beside me on the couch.

We could build a life and I’m beginning to make peace with how ahead of myself I’ve gotten. This has been my natural way of things, and I’m learning to celebrate the grandiosity of my love.

I hope you can see a future too. Maybe I’m lucky enough that you’ve done what you thought you shouldn’t. Sometimes all it takes is a kiss to start a lifetime.

#99Seconds Event

Truth In Reality, in conjunction with the Ferguson Response Network, has partnered to host our signature #99Seconds event on October 20, 2016 in ten cities across the U.S.  The name #99Seconds is based on the fact that in the US a woman is sexually assaulted every 90 seconds and battered every 9 seconds.

This national initiative to honor the experiences of survivors of domestic and sexual violence is being held in light of the recent controversy around director, writer and actor Nate Parker's film Birth of a Nation and his sexual assault trial.  With very little exception, the entire narrative has been focused on the accused perpetrators. Truth In Reality CEO Sil Lai Abrams and Ferguson Response Network founder Leslie MacFadyen decided to partner on this initiative in an effort to challenge society's tendency to erase or silence victims and survivors by re-centering them and providing a platform for their voices and experiences to be heard.

The current list of cities hosting events (in formation) are:

I’m having that moment where I found someone I like, and I know I’m fucked because I genuinely want to hang out with them more to know more about them.

The problem is.. is that he probably only sees me as just a friend. Plus, we only started hanging out in person for only the past weekend. Its one of those things where it starts out as like, a mini crush - you think they’re cute and you have a couple of interests that are similar and it’s like “Yes. This could work.” Then, once you start hanging out with them and get to know them, it just kinda explodes in your face to a “I’m. SO. Fucked.” situation.

Personally, I’ve been trying to hang out with him more often because I enjoy his company and I like talking to him. I’m a crappy conversationalist, but I try to learn more about him and remember things he says.

We basically started out as game buddies, and then we just started talking more. What’s strange is that we’ve known each other for a while; and never would I have thought that I would be attracted to this person in any way. Plus when did he get so cute. I don’t remember him being this cute before.

I just want to talk with him more. Especially since I’ll be leaving once I graduate, and my chances of actually seeing him reduce practically to 0%. I’m perfectly content with just staying as friends, even if it means hiding any developed feelings. Maybe not the best of ideas that I’ve had, but if it means preserving the friendship that we have... Then I’m all for it. And I don’t know.. It just might not work out in the end.

Or maybe I’m just lonely. God help me.
