We’ve only been to Palm Springs twice despite having lived in both LA and San Diego. It’s one of the most popular quick weekend getaways when you need a break from the city.
Now that we’re back in the Southwest, we n’t wait to be pool hopping in Palm Springs. Today, we wanted to share a list of things we thought were worthwhile as well as some things we hope to do on our next trip.

15 Unforgettable Things to Do in Palm Springs CA that You Can't Miss
1. Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is the largest rotating aerial tramway in the world. The 10 minute ride takes you over 2.5 miles along the Chino Canyon, giving you great views of the cliffs, vistas, and the valley below.
Once you arrive at the top, the temperature drops roughly 30 degrees from the desert floor. There are two restaurants, viewpoints, and over 50 miles of trails to explore. There’s even some bouldering in the area, and you n mp over night with advanced registration.
2. Palm Springs Art Museum

Stop by downtown Palm Springs to visit the lol museum. It has a great permanent collection of works by western, contemporary, and glass artists. It also brings in exhibitions from internationally acclaimed artists. Besides enjoying the art, they also run art classes and workshops for kids and adults.
3. Palm Springs Air Museum

Any history or WWII buff needs to stop by the Palm Springs Air Museum. It has one of the world’s largest collections of flyable WWII planes, and the museum focuses on the role these planes had in winning the war.
4. Ruddy's General Store Museum

Have you ever wanted to time ? Unfortunately time machines still don’t exist as far as we know, but Jim Ruddy’s General Store Museum n take you back in time. The museum showses pristine products from the 1930s in their original boxes and tins.

5. Stroll down Palm Canyon Drive
Palm Canyon Drive is in the heart of the city, where you’ll find shops, art galleries, restaurants and more.
Besides the drive, the Palm Springs area is full of art galleries, antique shops and furniture stores to check out during your visit. Here are some of the most popular.

6. Palm Springs Visitor Center

Whether it’s your first or hundredth visit to Palm Springs, the Visitor Center is always a great resource for the most up-to-date info. The unique roof also makes it hard to miss.
7. San Gorgonio Pass Wind Farm
San Gorgonio Pass California 92230, map
The San Gorgonio Pass is one of three major wind farms in California and one of the windiest places in SoCal. It’s bound to tch your eye when you’re driving in and a great spot to take photos. It’s definitely a memorable area for us. Not only did we take our anniversary photos here, but it’s where we almost lost our Airstream awning.

8. Tahquitz Canyon Waterfall Hike

This 1.7 mi. easy, loop hike is one of the most popular hikes in the area. Starting from the Visitor’s Center, you will climb 350 feet in elevation over steep terrain and giant steps. At the end, you’ll get to enjoy the beautiful Tahquitz Waterfall.
9. Joshua Tree National Park

Palm Springs n be a great base for exploring Joshua Tree, especially if you want luxury accommodations. It’s less than an hour drive from either the South or West entrance.
Jtree is usually what distracts us from spending more time in Palm Springs. Not only does it have the most epic sunsets we’ve ever seen, it’s also a playground for climbers. Since we started rock climbing, Jtree has easily become our National Park.

10. See the Fan Palms at Palm Canyon

In this 15 mile long section of Indian Canyons, you will find the largest Fan Palm Oasis. You n picnic near the stream, hike the trails, and learn more about the signifince of this area to the Cahuilla Indians.
11. Coachella Valley Preserve

The Coachella Valley Preserve has trails and exhibits to explore. A great place to start is at the Preserve’s visitor center in the Paul Wilhelm Grove. The Thond Palm Oasis is also a popular stop.
12. Moorten Botanil Garden

The legacy of Patricia and Chester “Cactus Slim” Moorten, the Moorten Botanil garden and Cactarium really showses their love of the desert. There are outdoor displays of beautiful desert plants and a greenhouse with cti and succulents.

13. Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway

The Alexander Estate was originally known as “the house of tomorrow” when it was built. In 1966, Elvis Presley took up residency here as a retreat from LA then one year later, Elvis and Priscilla celebrated their honeymoon here. Architecturally, it’s unique beuse there are no square rooms in the house.
14. Palm Springs Village Fest
Every Thursday night, you n hang out with lols and tourists at the Palm Springs Village Fest in the downtown area. Palm Canyon Drive, between Indian Canyon Drive and Belardo Road, turns into a pedestrian street fair with over 180 vendors.
15. Cabazon Dinosaurs

The Cabazon Dinosaurs are iconic roadside attractions in southern California. There are two massive dinosaurs named Dinny the Dinosaur and Mr. Rex. Dinny is 150 feet long and Mr. Rex is 65 feet tall making it easy to spot as you drive by. Inside, you’ll find a dinosaur-themed gift shop and a dinosaur exhibit. You n even climb up Mr. Rex all the way to his mouth.

QUYẾT ĐỊNH
VỀ VIỆC GIAO NHIỆM VỤ TỔ CHỨC THỰC HIỆN CÁC CHƯƠNG TRÌNH BỒI DƯỠNG THEO TIÊU CHUẨN CHỨC DANH NGHỀ NGHIỆP VIÊN CHỨC CHUYÊN NGÀNH Y TẾ

Căn cứ Nghị định số 75/2017/NĐ-CP ngày 20/6/2017 của Chính phủ quy định chức năng, nhiệm vụ, quyền hạn và cơ cấu tổ chức của Bộ Y tế;
Căn cứ Nghị định số 101/2017/NĐ-CP ngày 01/9/2017 của Chính phủ về đào tạo, bồi dưỡng cán bộ, công chức, viên chức;
Căn cứ Thông tư số 26/2018/TT-BYT ngày 25/10/2018 của Bộ Y tế quy định về tổ chức thực hiện các chương trình bồi dưỡng theo tiêu chuẩn chức danh nghề nghiệp viên chức chuyên ngành y tế đối với các cơ sở đào tạo, nghiên cứu;
Xét đề nghị của Trường Đại học Y tế công cộng tại công văn số 1987/ĐHYTCC ngày 12/9/2019 về việc đăng ký tham gia đào tạo, bồi dưỡng theo tiêu chuẩn chức danh nghề nghiệp điều dưỡng, hộ sinh và kỹ thuật y;
Xét đề nghị của Vụ trưởng Vụ Tổ chức cán bộ,
QUYẾT ĐỊNH:
Điều 1. Giao nhiệm vụ cho Trường Đại học Y tế công cộng được tổ chức thực hiện các chương trình bồi dưỡng theo tiêu chuẩn chức danh nghề nghiệp viên chức chuyên ngành y tế, bao gồm:
1. Các chương trình bồi dưỡng theo tiêu chuẩn chức danh nghề nghiệp: điều dưỡng hạng II, điều dưỡng hạng III, điều dưỡng hạng IV;
2. Các chương trình bồi dưỡng theo tiêu chuẩn chức danh nghề nghiệp: hộ sinh hạng II, hộ sinh hạng III, hộ sinh hạng IV;
3. Các chương trình bồi dưỡng theo tiêu chuẩn chức danh nghề nghiệp: kỹ thuật y hạng II, kỹ thuật y hạng III, kỹ thuật y hạng IV.
Điều 2. Trường Đại học Y tế công cộng có nhiệm vụ tổ chức bồi dưỡng, cấp chứng chỉ bồi dưỡng và báo cáo theo đúng quy định.
Điều 3. Quyết định này có hiệu lực thi hành kể từ ngày ký. Chánh Văn phòng Bộ, Vụ trưởng Vụ Tổ chức cán bộ, Hiệu trưởng Trường Đại học Y tế công cộng và thủ trưởng các đơn vị liên quan chịu trách nhiệm thi hành Quyết định này./.

Though gas prices are low, these still add up on a weekly, monthly, yearly basis. How do you know that you are financially ready to buy your first home? The best way to avoid the pitfalls of homeownership is to be an educated buyer. Free or low costs, home buyer education is available throughout the United States. Reading a website is a good start, but fully immersing yourself in what it means to be a homeowner, what is negotiable on the mortgage statement, what will break down first and how much will it cost, what to do if you fall behind, all these are answered through housing counseling. You can find an agency near you here. What do you recommend as the minimum down payment for a first-time home buyer? 3.5% down when closing the loan; 3.5% in the bank for emergency purposes. What effect did Trump’s Executive Order increasing the cost of FHA-backed loans have on first-time homebuyers? Since more low to moderate income homeowners are purchasing using FHA, an increase of $250 per $100,000 home purchased is passed onto low to moderate income homebuyers. How can federal, state and local policymakers responsibly and effectively increase home affordability, particularly for first time homebuyers? Many local governments and schools are funded on property taxes; if the federal and state governments continue to trim their budgets on the backs of local municipalities’ budgets, property taxes will continue to be on the ballot, and will continue to increase. The most cost-effective way to make homeownership affordable is to make property taxes affordable; whether for a first-time home buying millennial or a soon to be, fixed income retiree. Katrin B. There are differences among first-time home buyers. A household with two earners and at least one school-aged child will have different preferences, compared to a household with one earner, without any children. How do you know that you are financially ready to buy your first home? A potential borrower may want to consult a HUD-approved housing counselor or a lender, to discuss whether he/she is financially read to buy his/her first home. What do you recommend as the minimum down payment for a first-time home buyer? The threshold for a conventional mortgage is 20 percent, and for a mortgage insured by the FHA is 3.5 percent. First-time homebuyers face many challenges when selecting a home which may, or may not be, in their neighborhood of choice. For example, if a first-time homebuyer wants to have a neighborhood that is "family friendly" (with parks, shopping and schools within a reasonable distance), there may be a higher "cost-for-convenience" reflected in the housing prices. For first-time homebuyers seeking affordable housing, or with limited funds for down-payment in a higher end market, housing choices may be limited, thus indirectly pre-selecting neighborhoods to consider. In any scenario, first-time homebuyers should use all publicly-available information to establish a neighborhood profile, and not just rely on secondary listing or promotional advertisements. It is imperative that the first-time homebuyers gather information beyond the immediate block, including information on the sales prices of similar houses, demographics, community assets (e.g., shopping, health centers, parks/playgrounds), crime, public safety response times and flood zone (which affects the cost of flood insurance). This data can be obtained through municipal websites or they could request this "free" information from the appropriate government office in person, via phone or email. Beyond statistics, visiting the community at different times of the day will give a more well-rounded perspective along with the neighborhood profile. Overall, going with your “gut” may not be the best way to select a house or neighborhood, when making one of the most important and expensive investment decisions the first time around. How do you know that you are financially ready to buy your first home? In most cases the level of “financial fitness” of a first-time homebuyer is pre-determined by the lender. There are a number of factors that affect the ability to obtain a first mortgage, such as minimum down payment, tri-merge credit score, work history, salary and debt service. There are many free, low-cost in-person or online courses that anyone can participate in, to learn more about the home-buying process and related financial education. Through these courses a first-time homebuyer will have a better idea of what may need to be improved to become mortgage eligible. Since the criteria for “readiness” varies, a first-time homebuyer may want to interview a number of mortgage lenders and have their financial profile reviewed. Information on what might be considered “an issue” during the lending review process could be raised during these conversations. Alternatively, a lender pre-qualification letter may evaluate readiness by conducting a pre-mortgage screening. Most of these evaluations will require an application fee and may only be viable for a limited period of time. Even if the outcome of the financial evaluation in a fitness class or pre-qualification isn't positive, you now have the information needed to improve your ability to buy a house at a later time. What do you recommend as the minimum down payment for a first-time home buyer? There is an industry standard of providing at least 20% as a down payment for a mortgage. However, the down payment amount, rate of interest and mortgage terms vary by institution. The first-time homebuyer may want to evaluate the impact that a lower (5-10%) up-front investment may have on the interest rate, the closing costs and debt service over time. In order to have flexibility in choosing, more favorable lending terms may improve with the minimum "standard" down payment. Beyond the down payment, first-time homebuyers may want to save at least 3 months of the mortgage, closing costs plus the first year of taxes. It is imperative for first-time homebuyers to not expend all available funds at the start of a home purchase, in case there are interruptions (job change, tax increase, home repairs) that were not anticipated at the time of purchase. What effect did Trump’s Executive Order increasing the cost of FHA-backed loans have on first-time homebuyers? Aaron Crowe from Mortgageloan.com stated that the "Obama administration announced on Jan. 9 a reduction in annual premiums for mortgage insurance for FHA loans from 0.85 percent to 0.60 percent of the loan balance, effective Jan. 27." Essentially, this change would have decreased the monthly debt service for each mortgage loan. For example, industry experts have suggested savings of up to $500 a year on a $200,000 mortgage. However, "less than an hour after being sworn in as president, Donald Trump signed his first executive order, eliminating a drop in FHA mortgage insurance premiums that was to take effect a week later." First-time homebuyers would be most affected due to the debt service ceiling requirements. This change has a potentially adverse impact on lower-income borrowers who want to obtain a higher priced home using FDIC-backed mortgages. For first-time homebuyers ready to purchase a home, Trump's Executive Order may limit options to find lower priced homes to meet desired affordability. How can federal, state and local policymakers responsibly and effectively increase home affordability, particularly for first time homebuyers? No matter what level of government, policymakers should take less time “studying” a known problem -- housing affordability --, and turn this need into a national housing action plan. If the first executive order from the current administration is any indication of the direction the U.S. Housing & Urban Development Department may be heading in, then issues of “responsible,” “fair” and “effective” housing policy may be difficult to implement at the state and local levels. Similar to the Affordable Care Act ("Obama-care"), one size does not fit all, since the housing styles, sizes, construction type, access and distance to community resources vary significantly. In a utopian world, homelessness would not be a problem if vacant, abandoned, yet functional buildings were turned into affordable housing. The city of New Orleans, Louisiana administration (NOLA), post Hurricane Katrina, has moved from recovery to renewal by developing and implementing place-based community plans to expand housing options. Mayor Landrieu's Office of Performance and Accountability’s “BlightSTAT" open government forum monitors an integrated project that turned approximately 70 formerly historic houses, from the Veteran's Affairs/Louisiana State University (VA/LSU) hospital campus, to affordable housing. The adaptive reuse of the historic houses on formerly vacant, blighted or abandoned lots is not a new idea. However, NOLA was able to combine U.S. Housing & Urban Development soft-second mortgages, Louisiana Land Trust option 2/3 vacant lots, eminent domain to claim/move/rehab historic houses that will have a significant financial impact beyond the price of a first-time homebuyer loan. For federal, state and local policies &funded plans to be successful, there must be an honest effort to improve citizen participation. The VA/LSU Historic Affordable Housing project is still in process, but it will soon prove to be not only responsible and effective, but also affordable. W. Dennis Keating Professor Emeritus of Urban Studies and Law at Cleveland State University What should first-time home buyers consider when choosing a neighborhood? When choosing a neighborhood, key factors are:
Location related to work, transportation, shopping, amenities (e.g., parks);
Housing values and conditions (including possible data through sources like Trulia and Zillow);
Nearby schools (if children and future children are a relevant consideration);
Reputation of the neighborhood (if known, including through a neighborhood-based organization, homeowners association, social network);
Safety (if crime data is available);
Property taxes and any other state, regional and local fees affecting homeowners in the jurisdiction.
How do you know that you are financially ready to buy your first home? You are financially ready when you have enough of your own savings for the mortgage down payment, and you have enough regular income for projected monthly housing expenses (mortgage, utilities, and maintenance/repairs), within 30-40% of your net income. What do you recommend as the minimum down payment for a first-time home buyer? The minimum down payment I would recommend is 10-15%. What effect did Trump’s Executive Order increasing the cost of FHA-backed loans have on first-time homebuyers? The Trump FHA Order made affordability more difficult for some users of the FHA program. How can federal, state and local policymakers responsibly and effectively increase home affordability, particularly for first time homebuyers? Some of the policies that state and local governments can implement to increase affordability include:
Housing trust funds (that subsidize low- and moderate-income housing);
Inclusionary housing/zoning (to increase the supply of affordable units);
Property tax abatements: subsidized loans (e.g., the first time low-and moderate-income homebuyer program of the Ohio Housing Finance Agency);
Self-help: support of low-income programs, like that of Habitat for Humanity;
Lease/purchase (e.g., the program of the Cleveland Housing Network for low-income tenants);
Housing savings accounts: promoting these with lenders;
Housing counseling: support for agencies that offer homebuyer educational courses (working with lenders);
Support for co-housing programs;
Support for community land trusts.
Deden Rukmana Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Urban Studies and Planning Program & Co-Chair of the Global Planning Educators Interest Group at Savannah State University What should first-time homebuyers consider when choosing a neighborhood? From a perspective of an urban planner, first-time homebuyers should choose a neighborhood with good access to public transportation, amenities and facilities for family members, particularly young children. Neighborhoods in suburban areas are now less attractive due to the increasing commute time. The 2010 Census Data indicate that more people moved to the inner city from the suburban areas, particularly young couples. Such a trend will continue in the next few decades. How do you know that you are financially ready to buy your first home? You are ready to buy your first home when you're secured with your employment for the next five years, and spend less than 40% of your income to housing expenses. What do you recommend as the minimum down payment for a first-time home buyer? I would recommend 5-8% of the price of the house as the down payment. How can federal, state and local policymakers responsibly and effectively increase home affordability, particularly for first time homebuyers? The government needs to expand the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. The supply of affordable housing needs to be expanded in all parts of the urban areas. The government should discourage the phenomenon of NIMBY (Not In My Backyard) when it comes to the development of affordable housing. Christopher B. Leinberger Charles Bendit Distinguished Scholar and Research Professor & Chair of the Center for Real Estate and Urban Analysis at the George Washington University School of Business What should first-time home buyers consider when choosing a neighborhood? The most important thing is whether the neighborhood is “walkable urban” or “drivable sub-urban.” A walkable urban place means there are many transportation options (bus, rail, biking, auto, etc.), but most everyday things are accessible by walking (about 1500 to 3000 feet is considered walking distance). Drivable sub-urban locations mean you have to drive for almost everything outside the home. The best way to determine if the house is walkable urban is Walk Score, which has a 0-100 ranking system of all houses and most communities in the country. A Walk Score above 60 is considered walkable urban. Walkable urban neighborhoods are generally the most expensive on a price per square foot basis, sometimes two-times, and even three-times more expensive than drivable sub-urban, and will probably see the most price appreciation over the next decade or more. Drivable sub-urban houses tend to be over-built, resulting in lower prices per square foot than walkable urban houses due to excess supply, though that means you can get substantial bargains. You will have to factor in owning more cars into your household budget though, and the increased driving for commutes and other household errands. How do you know that you are financially ready to buy your first home? The obvious financial considerations are having the required down payment and the monthly all-in mortgage and insurance costs. One consideration few households make is the cost of transportation, the second household budget category, which is a direct result of where the house is located. Generally speaking, a walkable urban home will require fewer cars in the household. In general, drivable sub-urban households spend 25% of the income on transportation, almost all of that amount for car loan repayment, insurance, gas, maintenance and parking. By dropping one car out of the typical household saves, according to the AAA, $9,400 per year. This translates into increased mortgage capacity of $150,000. Cars always depreciate, while houses tend to appreciate. Having more, and generally cheaper transportation options (walking just involves a good pair of shoes), walkable urban households on average spend 9% of their household budget on transportation, a substantial savings that could be applied to the increased housing costs for walkable urban communities. What do you recommend as the minimum down payment for a first-time home buyer? The lowest possible, but if you have more, invest whatever you can, without draining your “rainy day” fund. The lowest you need to get into the house, since getting on the ownership ladder is the first step in building household net worth and having the security and pleasure of homeownership. The maximum you can will get you on the way to paying off your mortgage someday. This is counter to conventional wisdom, and exceedingly old-fashioned. However, my household investment strategy is to get out of all personal debt (student, mortgage, car, credit card -- which is the stupidest debt, etc.) as soon as possible. This will give you the most valuable asset -- peace of mind. Plus, it means you only have to earn enough for variable cost household items (food, insurance, transportation, vacation, savings, etc.). Not having any debt means you can say “no” to being a wage slave at some point, allowing you to only take employment you want to take. How can federal, state and local policymakers responsibly and effectively increase home affordability, particularly for first time homebuyers?
Adjust the mortgage tax deduction (MTD) to only under $500,000 mortgages (may be higher for higher cost metro areas), aiming at supporting the first time mortgage market, rather than well-to-do households who get the vast majority of the mortgage tax deduction. The MTD costs the federal government $100 billion per year in lost taxes, mainly to subsidize the upper-middle and upper income households, who do not need it.
Invest more infrastructure dollars in existing and new transit, biking and walking infrastructure, which will allow for more walkable urban housing to be built. Currently, only 20% of federal infrastructure goes to walkable urban infrastructure, 80% for highways. There have been hundreds of local bond measures for transit over the past decade, and over 70% have passed raising local taxes, primarily sales taxes, to build more transit. In 2016, over $200 billion of new taxes were raised locally for transit in just that year; in comparison, the federal government spends $60 billion on all transportation per year. So the encouragement of more local spending on transit, biking and walking infrastructure will help make more walkable urban housing happen, and lower household transportation costs.
Fight NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) opposition to higher density housing, particularly in walkable urban places. NIMBYs cause housing prices to spike unnecessarily by putting supply constraints on the market. Plus, it is estimated that 1-2% of additional annual GDP growth would occur if NIMBYs would be overridden and the market can give us what we want. Also, walkable urban housing is by far the most environmentally sustainable; moving a household from a drivable sub-urban location to a walkable urban place drops green house gas emissions by 50-80%, the number one way we can address climate change.
Alessandro Rebucci Assistant Professor of Economics, Finance and Real Estate at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School What should first-time home buyers consider when choosing a neighborhood? The old adage says “location,” “location,” “location.” What that means nowadays is proximity to urban areas where health, education, and other services are easily accessible, with short commutes, and plenty of labor demand. Properties (and especially apartments) with these characteristics are likely to be more liquid investments (easily resalable), and appreciate or preserve more values over the next several years. The millions of millennials who are shaping the market have developed a taste for these types of housing solutions, and will provide strong support to these markets for years to come. How do you know that you are financially ready to buy your first home? Job security is important to be able to service a mortgage smoothly. That means the confidence that rain or shine, a well-paid job can be easily found. If you are struggling to find employment, homeownership is not yet for you, and might be the rope around your neck if somehow acquired through lax underwriting or easy loans at the top of the credit cycle. In general, comparing cost of renting with cost of owning is a good disciplining exercise. If owning is cheaper than renting and the differential can be locked in for a few years, don’t miss out on the opportunity to start building some equity and wealth. What do you recommend as the minimum down payment for a first-time home buyer? It depends. I bought my first apartment in D.C. 20 years ago, with $7,000. It was an FHA-approved property and I was supposed to put 5% percent down, but they made a mistake and I ended up putting only 3% down, and got some cash back at closing. I used the capital gain from that first apartment to buy a small house when my children were born. Were it not for the FHA loan with 5% down, I would not have become a homeowner until much later. But I entered the market at the very bottom of the cycle and I knew it. To be safe, 20% is a good margin. We are not going to see prices dropping by more than that in a few years, like during the last crisis, anytime soon again. What effect did Trump’s Executive Order increasing the cost of FHA-backed loans have on first-time homebuyers? As my story above illustrates, it did not help. The GSEs face a number of problems, and the U.S. system of housing finance is in need of reform, including cutting back on a number of generous subsidies. But I am not sure that can be achieved or even started with a piecemeal approach, targeting this or that specific spot in the system. How can federal, state and local policymakers responsibly and effectively increase home affordability, particularly for first time homebuyers? If you are in the formal job market, homeownership is accessible and affordable in the U.S. What in my opinion was lost over the past couple of decades is equal opportunity of employability across segment of the income, and wealth distribution. Or, to put it differently, we have an issue of access to education, not access to the housing market. Good education leads to good access to the labor market, and that brings with it access to the housing and health insurance market. It is education, from child care to higher education, where the U.S. is in need of a serious rethinking of its public policies.
Methodology
To determine the most favorable housing markets for first-time home buyers, WalletHub’s analysts compared a sample of 300 U.S. cities (varying in size) across three key dimensions: 1) Affordability, 2) Real-Estate Market and 3) Quality of Life.
We evaluated those dimensions using 23 relevant metrics, which are listed below with their corresponding weights. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the most favorable conditions for first-time home buyers. Data for metrics marked with an asterisk (*) were available at the state level only.
Finally, we determined each city’s weighted average across all metrics to calculate its total score then used the resulting scores to rank-order our sample. Our sample considers only the city proper in each case and excludes cities in the surrounding metro area. Each city was categorized according to the following population-size guidelines:
Large cities: More than 300,000 people
Midsize cities: 150,000 to 300,000 people
Small cities: Fewer than 150,000 people

innerHTML
¿Alguna vez se preguntó cómo podría cambiar el contenido de un elemento HTML? Tal vez quiera reemplazar el texto de un párrafo para reflejar lo que un visitante acaba de seleccionar en un cuadro desplegable. Mediante la manipulación de un elemento innerHtml podrá cambiar su texto y HTML tanto como desee.
Cambiar el texto con innerhtml
Cada elemento HTML tiene una propiedad innerHTML que define tanto el código HTML como el texto que se produce entre la etiqueta de apertura y cierre de ese elemento. Al cambiar el innerHTML de un elemento después de alguna interacción del usuario, puede crear páginas mucho más interactivas.
Sin embargo, el uso de innerHTML requiere una cierta preparación si usted quiere poder utilizarlo fácilmente y confiablemente. En primer lugar, debe dar el elemento que desea cambiar un id. Con ese id en su lugar usted será capaz de utilizar la función getElementById, que funciona en todos los navegadores.
Después de configurarlo, ahora puede manipular el texto de un elemento. Para comenzar, intentemos cambiar el texto dentro de una etiqueta en negrita.

Actualizar texto basado en la entrada del usuario
Mediante la adición de una entrada de texto, podemos llevar a la actualización de nuestro texto en negrita con lo que el usuario escribe en la entrada de texto. Nota: Actualizamos la función un poco y establecimos el id en boldStuff2.

Cambiando html con innerhtml
También puede insertar HTML en sus elementos de la misma manera. Digamos que no nos gustó el texto que se mostró en nuestro párrafo y queríamos actualizarlo con algún color. El código siguiente tomará el texto negro antiguo y lo hará blanco brillante. Lo único que estamos haciendo diferente aquí es la inserción del elemento html span para cambiar el color.

Este fue un ejemplo bastante simple para cambiar el HTML de un elemento. Todo lo que hicimos fue tomar el texto antiguo que estaba en la etiqueta de párrafo y lo rodean en una etiqueta de span para cambiar el color. Sin embargo, hay muchas más cosas que puedes hacer cambiando el HTML de un elemento, así que no olvides esta útil herramienta!

LA CIUDAD
Barcelona es una ciudad afortunada. Es bonita, lo sabe, y no avasalla, como Roma o París. Su emplazamiento junto al Mediterráneo, su tamaño amable y su clima son perfectos. Se puede recorrer a pie o en bici y, cuando las piernas se cansan, cuenta con un excelente sistema de transporte público. Su agenda cultural es muy variada. Ama todas las artes y, por supuesto, el deporte. De hecho, es rara la semana en la que no se celebra algún festival, entre los más famosos el Primavera Sound, el Sònar, el Grec, el Inèdit, el Mecal… La oferta culinaria es desbordante, prestigiosa, con posibilidades para todos los bolsillos y tan internacional como uno pueda desear. Es verdad que nunca ha sido la meca del tapeo ni el vermut, pero las cosas están cambiando a pasos agigantados. Por lo que respecta al horario y los hábitos, conviene saber que los locales suelen ser pequeños, por lo que hay que reservar, y que después de las 23:00 comienza a ser difícil encontrar restaurantes que ofrezcan mesas, pero siempre queda el recurso de la comida rápida. Y ya que hablamos de la noche, posiblemente la barcelonesa sea un poco más rígida en cuanto a horarios que las de otras ciudades europeas, pero igual de variada, ruidosa y excitante, con propuestas de primer orden. Burguesa y vanguardista, calmada y estresante, íntima y cosmopolita, la urbe siempre resulta estimulante, siempre hay mil cosas que ver, que hacer, que visitar.
DORMIR
Tres hoteles de lujo
Hotel Mandarin (Passeig de Gràcia, 38-40; +34 93 151 88 88). Su situación en el mejor bulevar de la ciudad, su comodidad y boato lo convierten en una de las mejores apuestas. Aloja el restaurante Moments dirigido por Carme Ruscalleda y Raül Balam, con dos estrellas Michelin.
Hotel W (Plaça Rosa dels Vents, 1; (+34 93 295 28 00). Entre el mar y el puerto, esta torre con forma de vela se ha convertido en un (discutido) icono urbano de la ciudad. Las vistas del mar y la ciudad son espectaculares, igual que su Eclipse Bar, en la planta 26. Incluye además el restaurante Bravo 24, con una estrella Michelin.
Hotel OMM (Roselló 265; (+34 93 445 40 00). Muy cerca de la Pedrera, ofrece modernidad y sofisticación: spa, terraza con piscina, el restaurante Roca Moo (1 estrella Michelin) e incluso una discoteca.
Tres hoteles de diseño
Hotel Casa Camper (Elisabets, 11; (+34 93 3426 280). En pleno Raval, este hotel-boutique cuenta con habitaciones con salón independiente, y un diseño a medio camino entre lo industrial y lo mediterráneo. Como aliciente, buffet gratuito para los clientes las 24 horas.
B-Hotel (Gran Vía, 389; (+34 93 552 95 00). Ideal para urbanitas, posee habitaciones high-tech con juegos cambiantes de luz. Su piscina es la envidia de los paseantes del centro comercial de Plaça Espanya.
Hotel Porta Fira (Plaça Europa 45, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat; (+34 93 297 35 00). Situado al lado del nuevo recinto de la Fira de Barcelona, este hotel, diseñado por Toyo Ito, es diferente, con habitaciones trapezoidales y un ambiente minimalista. Buena relación calidad/precio.
Tres hostales asequibles
Melon District (Avda. Paral.lel, 101; (+34 93 217 88 12). Justo en el medio de la avenida de los teatros, esta agradable residencia de estudiantes ofrece habitaciones con desayuno y además, piscina en temporada.
Barcelonaurbany Hostel (Avinguda Meridiana, 97; (+34 93 245 84 14). Los albergues se modernizan. Lo prueba este, con sus precios extremadamente competitivos, wifi gratis, una piscina cubierta, otra en la terraza y desayuno incluido en la tarifa. Cerca de la Torre Agbar, el 22@ y la Sagrada Familia.
Generator Hostel (Còrsega 373; (+34 932 20 03 73). Diseño colorista y desenfadado, con múltiples opciones que van desde las literas para grupos a habitaciones dobles bien monas, en el entorno de un barrio señorial.
COMER
Restaurantes para todos los gustos
Via Veneto (Ganduxer, 10; (+34 93 200 72 44). Su lujosa cocina de inspiración francesa y catalana (una estrella Michelin) y su ambiente clásico son una institución en la ciudad.
Cheriff (Ginebra, 15; (+34 93 319 69 84). En la Barceloneta, es el restaurante donde quedarás como un rey si llevas a tus papás a comer un arroz. Para algunos entendidos, la mejor paella de Barcelona.
Òleum (Palau Nacional, Parc de Montjuïc s/n; (+34 93 289 06 79). El restaurante del MNAC puede considerarse de altura por tres razones: un menú degustación excelente, un servicio atento y unas vistas en cinemascope de la ciudad.
Montalbán (Margarit, 31; (+34 93 442 31 43). Espartano y sin adornos, este negocio familiar sirve un pescado fresquísimo. Su rodaballo, sus percebes y sus gambas son de película.
Cala Blanca (Doctor Trueta, 211; (+34 93 221 07 79). Un lugar para comer siempre como si fuera domingo pagando un precio razonable. Es deliciosa su “paella del senyoret”, que trae todo ya peladito.
Kibuka (Goya, 9; +34 93 237 89 94). Solicitadísimo local que ofrece unos maki occidentalizados bien elaborados y sabrosos. Hay que presentarse muy pronto para coger sitio.
Flamant (Enric Granados, 23; (+34 93 323 16 35). Bonito local con aspecto de clásico modernizado, que además… es ¡grande! Ofrece un digno y asequible menú de mediodía.
Can Lluís (Cera, 49; (+34 93 441 11 87). Su menú de mediodía es bueno, bonito y barato. Esto es comida catalana y lo demás son tonterías.
La Rosa del Raval (+34 93 304 26 81, http://rosaraval.com/, Àngels, 6). Posiblemente este alegre local no es el mexicano más ortodoxo del mundo, pero los burritos, las quesadillas, las ensaladas y los mojitos están tan ricos y salen tan bien de precio que más de uno querrá volver.
Redescubriendo el tapeo
Fábrica Moritz (Ronda Sant Antoni, 41; (+34 93 426 00 50). Es de agradecer la apuesta de la cervecera Moritz por ofrecer una inacabable carta de tapas y raciones ricas y bien presentadas en un espacio radiante, diseñado por Jean Nouvel. Dispone además de una tienda-librería y está abierta hasta la madrugada.
Morro Fi (Consell de Cent, 171). Los maravillosos vermuts y raciones del Morro Fi son ya vox populi. ¡Ay sus patatas fritas y boquerones! Nunca mejor dicho, el secreto está en la salsa.
Quimet Quimet (Poeta Cabanyes, 25; (0034) 93 442 31 42). Este local de Poble Sec está siempre a reventar, y eso que no hay mesas ni sillas; claro, es que sus montaditos son tremendos.
Paco Meralgo (Muntaner, 171; (+34 93 430 90 27). Tapas modernas, servicio excelente y precio en consonancia. Ideal para impresionar a tu ligue.
La Torna (Francesc Cambó, 16, dentro del mercado; (+34 93 319 57 40). La barra de esta taberna en el Mercat de Santa Caterina ofrece unos callos soberbios. También carnes, pescados a la plancha y cazuelas varias.
LA NOCHE
Copas y cócteles
Federal (Parlament, 39). Este local de la calle de moda en Barcelona ofrece en sus tres plantas, con pequeña terraza en el piso superior, diversos platos de fusión y un ambiente internacional.
Bar Olimpia (Aldana, 11; +34 93 232 10 09). De decoración sobria y público moderno, el Olimpia es una nueva incorporación a la ruta de cócteles de la ciudad.
La Casa de la Pradera (Carretes, 56; +34 93 441 66 42). En el corazón del Raval, este bar ofrece gamberras sesiones de DJs locales en un ambiente casero y distendido
Milano (Ronda Universitat, 35; +34 625 54 94 77). Una coctelería como tiene que ser, atemporal, elegante, cómoda, con buen servicio y música a su debido nivel. Su daiquiri de fresa es un clásico. Para probar algo diferente, el cóctel Pimms.
Sor Rita (Mercè, 27; +34 93 1 76 62 66). Muy cerca de la Basílica de la Mercè, este local es de todo menos santo. Público mixto y distendido en un ambiente almodovariano con éxitos de ayer, de hoy y de siempre. Hasta venden bragas.
El Pony (Carrer del Portal Nou, 23; +34 93 310 61 26). Como en tantos bares de Barcelona, en el Pony caben cuatro gatos. Pero lo compensan con una buena selección de hits indie y unos gin tonics hechos con amor.
Mudanzas (Vidrieria, 15; (+34 93 319 11 37). Situado en el bullicioso barrio del Born, este local se llena a medianoche de gente de 30 y 40 años con ganas de conocer más gente.
Clubes
Razzmatazz (Almogàvers, 122; +34 933 20 82 00). La catedral del indie y la electrónica de Barcelona cuenta con cuatro salas con programación simultánea, directos muy potentes y noches temáticas como la exitosa Dirty Dancing de los miércoles.
Apolo (Nou de la Rambla, 113; +34 93 319 17 89). Tan emblemático y prestigioso como el anterior, el Apolo ofrece en sus dos salas -una de ellas un maravilloso teatro- una programación inmejorable de conciertos, con atención a la escena local, sesiones de DJ y fiestas a lo largo de toda la semana.
Bling Bling (Tuset, 8-10; +34 93 414 63 62). La elegante calle Tuset lleva décadas dando cobijo a locales de moda. El Bling Bling es el nuevo hype del famoseo de la ciudad. Se baila house comercial y hip hop.
BeCool (Plaça de Joan Llongueras, 5; +34 93 362 04 13). Junto a la Diagonal, en la zona alta de la ciudad y con un toque posh, es otro imprescindible de la noche barcelonesa. Buenos conciertos y una selecta programación de electrónica.
Moog (Arc del Teatre, 3; +34 933 19 17 89). Irreductible y seductor, el Moog resiste el paso del tiempo a base de ofrecer electrónica para paladares finos. Las sesiones de pop de DJ Purpur en la sala Villarosa son únicas.
Opium (Passeig Marítim de la Barceloneta, 34; +34 902 26 74 86). Junto al Port Olímpic, ofrece sesiones de techno-house, R&B y hip-hop en un ambiente sofisticado y metrosexual.
QUÉ HACER
Cinco barrios para pasear
Barrios del Born y La Ribera. Al norte de la Via Laietana, en pleno casco antiguo de la ciudad, conviven dos barrios muy diferentes entre sí. El Born, al este de la calle Princesa, se ha gentrificado y convertido en un Soho barcelonés, con galerías de arte, boutiques, restaurantes y bares de diseño. Como colofón cuenta con la preciosa iglesia gótica de Santa María del Mar y el Museo Picasso. Al oeste está el barrio de la Ribera, vibrante, un poco quinqui y con el encanto de no haber sido invadido todavía por las masas de turistas.
Gràcia. Lo más bonito de este barrio, antiguo pueblo incorporado a la ciudad en 1897, son las plazas que aparecen por doquier, cada una con su personalidad y siempre animadas. Entre las más bonitas, la de Vila de Gràcia, la de la Virreina y la de la Revolució. Son incontables sus tiendas, restaurantes y bares ¿Hay que volver a decir que mejor reservar?
La Barceloneta. Huele a salitre en el barrio marinero por excelencia de Barcelona, construido a partir de 1753 siguiendo una densa trama de calles ortogonales. Repleto de tascas y restaurantes, hay que perderse en él para contemplar sus edificios. Su playa, salvando las distancias, es la Venice Beach local.
Distrito 22@. Entre la Avenida Diagonal, Poble Nou y el mar se extiende este nuevo barrio postindustrial, un compendio interesantísimo de arquitectura contemporánea recién incorporado a la ciudad. Vale la pena callejear y sorprenderse con sus edificios y parques. Destacan, entre otros, la Torre Agbar, el MediaTIC, el DHUB, el campus de la comunicación de la UPF, el Hotel ME, la Fundació Vila Casas y el Parc de Poble Nou.
Diagonal Mar-Fòrum. Al final de la Diagonal, ya tocando el mar, se alzan la torre blanca de Telefónica, la gigantesca porción de quesito azul klein del Fórum, de Herzog & De Meuron, un gigantesco panel solar y otros notables edificios construidos con ocasión del malogrado Forum de la Culturas de 2004. También pueden visitarse el Parque de Diagonal Mar y la Torre de les Aigües. El Museu Blau de ciencias naturales es limitado, pero está muy bien expuesto.
Visitas imprescindibles
Palau de la Virreina. (La Rambla, 99; +34 93 316 10 00). Más conocido entre los locales que los visitantes, este palacete barroco está dedicado al video y la fotografía. Justo en la entrada del edificio hay una muy aconsejable Oficina de Información del Ayuntamiento sobre actividades culturales en la ciudad.
MACBA - CCCB (Plaça dels Àngels, 1; +34 93 412 08 10 - Montalegre, 5; +34 93 306 41 00). Ineludible la visita a dos de los equipamientos culturales de bandera en la ciudad. La plaça dels Àngels, delante del MACBA, es punto de encuentro de varias tribus urbanas de la ciudad.
Mercat de Santa Caterina (Francesc Cambó, 16). Remozado por Enric Miralles, este mercado es la alternativa al saturadísimo mercat de La Boqueria. Su cubierta cerámica multicolor, que se ve desde la avenida de la Catedral, cobija decenas de puestos de comida fresca y preparada, así como restaurantes y bares donde comer buenas tapas y platos.
Plaza de toros de las Arenas (Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, 373-385; +34 93 289 02 44) Reconvertida en centro comercial a partir de un proyecto de Richard Rogers, su diseño tiene un punto de nave Enterprise. Dispone de una plaza circular en su ático que ofrece buenas vistas sobre la ciudad y Montjuïc. Se puede acceder gratuitamente y ya se ha convertido en la nueva Calle Mayor del barrio.
Parc del Laberint d’Horta (Passeig Castanyers, 1; +34 93 256 44 30). El jardín más antiguo de la ciudad es también el más encantador. Aunque esté lejos del centro, vale la pena acercarse para disfrutar de sus zonas temáticas. El laberinto vegetal es de los de verdad: invita a perderse y no encontrar la salida.
Actividades
Feria de libros del Mercat de Sant Antoni (Comte d'Urgell, 1). Qué mejor que pasar una mañana de domingo entre amantes de libros, revistas, carteles, juegos de rol, cine y piezas de coleccionista. La feria se aloja bajo una carpa temporal, a la espera de que el edificio modernista del mercado se acabe de reformar.
Música als Parcs. Entre junio y agosto, el ayuntamiento de Barcelona organiza conciertos gratuitos de música clásica y jazz en diversos parques de la ciudad. Una forma encantadora de pasar las largas tardes del verano a la sombra.
Centre Sant Pere Apostol (Sant Pere més Alt 25; +34 93 268 25 09). Este centro cívico situado junto al Palau de la Música ofrece una programación teatral amateur tan activa como entrañable. El público aplaude a rabiar. Ideal para las tardes de fin de semana.
Barcelona gratis. Las webs http://totgratuit.blogspot.com.es y www.forfree.cat ofrecen información diaria y de primera mano sobre un montón de actividades que no necesitan de la cartera, sino de las ganas de hacer cosas.
Pequeños placeres
La Central (Mallorca, 237; +34 902 884 990). De entre los diversos establecimientos con los que cuenta la emblemática cadena de librerías en la ciudad, esta es la más completa. Dos pisos repletos de literatura y ensayo para pasar horas ojeando (y comprando).
Studiostore (Comerç, 17; +34 93 222 50 75). Un local nuevo del Born que apuesta por objetos y complementos de jóvenes diseñadores y las últimas novedades para hipsters. No hay que perderse los interesantes eventos que organizan en el sótano.
Mauri (Calle Provença, 241; +34 93 215 09 98). La pastelería por excelencia de Rambla Catalunya conserva el encanto de los buenos salones de té. Oferta extensa de delicias, y punto de encuentro para diversas generaciones de barceloneses.
Cremería Toscana (Muntaner, 161; +34 93 539 38 25). Una pequeña heladería con sabores que saben a fruta más que la propia fruta. Tan buenos que cuesta creerlo.
Dong Fang (Balmes, 6; +34 93 301 25 87). Un clásico de la alimentación oriental en la ciudad. No es la tienda más grande, pero seguramente sí la más completa. Su variedad de algas, especias, ramen, miso y té, entre otras muchas especialidades, es apabullante. También vende productos frescos.
