After my fiasco looking for a present for my son, I figured out the problem: I needed a better class of store! Growing up, my daughter liked spaghetti. She especially liked to pour on the parmigiana cheese. Rubbing my hands together with glee, I saw a plan coming together. An elegant Williams Sonoma store was only a couple of hours away. I marched up to their cheese counter and proudly asked for a wheel of parmigiana cheese. They brought out a lovely 80 pound wheel directly from Italy in the Emilia Romagna region. A sweet aroma emerged that made me want to sing! Then they informed me it only cost $3,000 dollars. Realizing that I could fly to Italy for less, I...re-evaluated my goal. I thought: one of Kate’s favorite things are her goats. I found out I could get a wheel of goat cheese for $70. I felt very good, sure she’d love it! At home, I bragged to my wife I had the perfect gift! A half hour later after my wife explained how our daughter hates cheese (except for Parmesan), can’t even stand the smell, and would be sick at the very thought of it. I asked when this started. She said almost her entire life. E sembra un sogno.. non ci posso ancora credere che tra un paio di settimane sarò a 4ore e mezza da qui con lei..da soli nella nostra piccola casetta per una settimana intera e poi una settimana a casa mia, cavolo se è un sogno non svegliatemi mai hahaha.. Non vedo l'ora di entrare e stare a rilassarmi per ore a coccolarci aww, svegliarmi all'alba e guardandola dormire lasciarle un fugace bacio e andare a come rare la colazione fresca, fare passeggiate sul mare, andare a sentire la musica live la sera magari sulla spiaggia o semplicemente andare a prendere un gelato o fare un tranquillo bagnetto lontano dalle urla e dagli schizzi della gente. Penso che sia davvero tutto ciò di cui ho bisogno, penso che sia lei tutto ciò di cui ho bisogno e penso che non mi stancherò mai, non mi stancherò mai della sua voce, della sua risata, delle sue mani, del modo in cui si prende cura di me, non mi stancherò di aspettarla perepararsi per uscire perché starò lì con lei ad ammirarla ed a pensare a quanto sia stato fortunato a trovare una persona tanto speciale e non mi stancherò mai delle nostre discussioni anche le più lunghe perche per quanto siano noiose o litigiose ci sarà sempre da fare la pace, e niente la amo più di ogni cosa al mondo e ringrazio davvero di averla trovata perché è la miglior cosa che mi potesse mai capitare. Questa vacanza sarà solo l'inizio di tutto, l'inizio di un noi che sta crescendo e sta diventando sempre più forte, più forte di tutte le discussioni e più forte dei chilometri ❤️

I am the worst Christmas shopper in the world. Let me chronicle yesterday’s attempt to find a good gift. My son likes fishing. I searched high and low in a store never coming close to finding a fishing rod, reel, or even a net. Later, talking with my wife, she assured me I just picked the wrong store. Maybe she’s right. In hindsight looking for fishing equipment in a grocery store might not have been the best starting point. Though I hope the 15 cans of sardines I purchased make good bait. . I have a new strategy I’m trying this weekend and I’ll let you know how it goes Monday.
