Webby Week Day 7: Family/Comfort!
(Last day!)
"No, no. We are not doing game night ever again!" Louie shouted after Della had suggested it.
"Whoa, what happened?" Della asked.
"I'll field this one," Huey said, taking Della to the side and explaining the events of the family's most recent game night to her.
"Can't we just watch a movie?" Louie asked.
At the word "movie" Webby turned around at once.
So, as it happened, did Huey and Della.
And Dewey.
And even Donald.
"Oh boy," Louie really wished he hadn't said that.
"Am I missing something?" Scrooge asked.
"Only this!" Webby ran to him with her phone, "After all these years, Duckhouse Studios finally got funding to make..." She mimicked a drumroll by tapping her hands on a nearby chair.
"Legends Of Legendquest: The Movie!" everyone else in the room chorused.
"Ye mean that game?" Scrooge asked, perplexed.
"It's not just a game!" Webby said, "It's a work of art! Intricate storytelling! Lore! Theories! This movie is a labour of love, thirty years in the making! And I have a presentation planned so we know everything before we see it!" She ran out of the room, flapping her hands and squealing delightedly.
"I've never seen her Webby out like this over anything," Louie started, "Should we call somebody?"
"She's been really excited about this for months," Della told him, "And so have I - I mean, come on, it's Legends!"
"She doesn't even play!" Louie cried.
"You don't have to play to appreciate the lore," Huey pointed out.
"Sounds like someone just doesn't wanna go," Dewey smirked.
"I just think we should stay in instead of going to the theatre," Louie pointed out, "Uncle Scrooge, aren't you hesitant to pay for all those tickets?"
"Normally I would be, but the wee lass seems so excited for this," Scrooge replied, "I'm rather curious myself, now."
As if on cue, Webby entered the room again, with her slideshow.
"Okay - so," Webby started, "in the far-off lands of Darkest Dereznaroth, in the 1200s, five brave warriors were slain..."
This was nice, actually. Listening to Webby tell the epic saga of Legendquest, hearing her so unapologetically joyful, was amazing.
And Webby had never felt better - finally, people were listening to her! After so long of having to keep her info-dumping to herself because no-one else would understand, this was the best thing in the world.

did she specifically make 34 versions of TTPD because shes 34 years old
#barry.txt#taylor swift#also to make money and keep her char position long term obviously but she can never just make money it has to be some numerology bullshit#what a swiftian concept#her relationship to capital and product as an aspect to her art is endlessly interesting to me#also how she sells every album like its gonna be the last one before everyone gets sick of her and her career ends forever#she sells like its the end of the world. mulling. whatever#if she drops another fucking varant then this post means nothing#this is maybe the most interesting headspace that taylor has ever been in during an album cycle and i hope it gets less interesting soon bc#honestly i am a little worried for her#and also a little sick of her shit. She needs to get out of the eras tour/career second wind bubble that shes been in for like 3 years now#im glad that leaving bmr means shes not trapped in the strict 2 year album to tour cycle that she was in technically until rep#but actually until the pandemic forced her to stop bc rep was 2017 tour was 2018 and lover was 2019 w loverfest being 2020#but i hope she knows that that doesnt just mean dropping multiple projects a year but also...not dropping anything for a bit#chilling...taking a breath...mb honing her directing skills on other artists MVs or short films before diving into a full feature projects#working on stuff and not releasing it. writing for other people. Enjoying a beautiful sunset etc#i just want her to enjoy life when she isnt charting#i always make a very simple post and then go crazy in the tags like this could just also be a post. alas

NaClYoHo Day 1
I'm counting yesterday and today as a collective victory, because I managed to take out some recycling I hadn't bothered with in a while for 2 days in a row. No listening stuff today, unfortunately—couldn't quite figure out how to start a full timer this evening.
But hey, somehow I also managed to write 1,111 words. You can take the blogkeeper out of the novel writing challenge, But I guess getting the blogkeeper to stop writing in November is a bit of a different matter.

Should I make a seperate tumblr for fics, be it nsfw and sfw?? That way I leave this one for random reblogs and stuff and have the other one to post stuff.
The fandom tags are fandoms I'm in btw

YESSSSSS
From "My Brain Hates Me"...
Okay. Step one was done.
Step two was the brightly lit, bustling purgatory known as the mall.
It was like the place had been actively designed to be as overwhelming as possible (which, Huey reasoned, made sense because then people would try to give themselves a sense of control by buying things).
But hey - he had a list, and there wasn’t much on it.
Snacks, banners and a cake that had already been ordered.
Lists were good. Lists were great, actually.

Help a family of 10 evacuate from Gaza
Hello, @hebaalmaqadma reached out to me to share her family's campaign. They are a family of 10 individuals, one of whom is married with a child, and one of whom is her youngest brother Adam who has cerebral palsy. More details are in their GFM campaign page:
It's close to goal (€82,715 raised of €85,000), with the most recent donation 15 hours as of the time of writing this post (17/09/24 18:24 GMT+8), but they might increase the goal due to other huge expenses. The campaign is verified by The ButterflyEffect Project where it is listed at no. 294 in their list of verified campaigns.
As in the campaign page, her IG is @/heba_almaqadma where you could see in her story highlights her getting notified that her writing got included in the book, Daybreak in Gaza. Also linked is her article:
The earliest post on her tumblr is from 2017, and in one photoset, you can see her coffee cup with her name on it. Look over to her blog, see a few snippets of her life before this bombardment, check out the campaign page, and please boost and/or donate.
Free Palestine.
Tagging for reach, DM me for removal:

Rereading some of my old work because I've felt Uninspired lately and I thought it might help to examine what made some of my favorite stories fun to write and what is not working about them currently so that I end up with a good mix of old things to revive and new directions to explore.
I intended to just examine a few projects, but I ended up looking through my entire "books" folder which has been moved from laptop to laptop since 2015 and added to over that entire timespan. I was 14 in 2015 and started my first typed (rather than handwritten) WIP on my old-old computer (at the time new) while waiting for the bell on the first day of 10th grade. So there is some questionable writing in there. I didn't use the carriage return ever, and that was the least of my sins. For example, in the first paragraph of the work I've just gotten re-obsessed with, I initially used "strange" to describe something twice within two sentences of each other to avoid actually describing it. Pathetic.
But I am REALLY remembering how much I love these characters and even, yes, some elements of the plot. Kind of impressed with my 14-year-old self although the sentence-level craft just sucks. There is also absolutely no market for this because it is distinctly YA yet deals with topics that people are excruciatingly determined to prevent kids from reading (even more so than in 2015, when I wrote it, as a kid). Sorry that they're gay and do unspeakable things, I guess. (It's more the unspeakable things than the homosexuality.) Ageing them up would fundamentally change the story but I'm considering it. It does start really mild so I might feel bad if some kid started reading it because of the lighthearted sci-fi fantasy adventure and ended up with something that would need significantly more content warnings than Hatoful Boyfriend. I guess 14-year-old me really just went, "Let's boil this frog into a psychological horror."
