From January on, I've been in an emotional whirlwind as I've learned more about Peter Steele. I've been blogging about it lightly here on Tumblr.

First, the fun stuff.

The fun stuff is pretty much just a vague, visual representation of my middle-aged self rediscovering Peter Steele, seeing him in a new light, and appreciating him in different ways than I did before. The others are a light walk through of what I started seeing and how I started reacting. There was so much I didn't know. And once I thought I got the jist of it, there was more.

Entry 74, I see comments on Instagram prior to deleting my profile, accusing his last gf of negligence. Seriously disturbed due to the shock of it from the lack of knowledge, I tried looking it up to see if it was true. Couldn't find any info on that but found lots of info on Peter himself.

This is when I found out Peter Steele was the full package. Men that have beautiful faces like that often accompany them with cruel tongues and empty minds. Not Peter.

Intelligent, wise, kind, and humble to name a few. The full package. Making him one of the most gorgeous men to ever exist. A rare find indeed. Combine that with his voice, talent, style, and presence, and you'll soon see why women everywhere would fall to their knees in love and lust for him.

Unfortunately, that full package came alongside an ample amount of heartbreak.

It bothered me to my core to think about a man like Peter suffering so much at the hands of any toxic women he may have given his heart to in the wake of everything.

I took temporary comfort in assuming he was surrounded by friends that would help lift him up if ever he was down, especially his band mates whom I heard he grew up with. I assumed, and life continued on as normal for a time.

The 14-year death anniversary rolls around and as I said in Entry 170, I'm feeling it more than ever before because now, I have a better understanding of who died, making his loss that much more deeper and tragic.

Not only was a kind heart lost, but a pure soul that suffered greatly, making the pain of the anniversary rival even the death itself.

You see, I'm heavily reliant on what I hear, read, and watch because of the obvious fact that I didn't know Peter Steele personally and I wasn't there when certain things were taking place.

I learned more about him and started to favor him above all other singers, including Trent Reznor who I've worshipped since the teen days. I started looking up more pics and performances (eventually inspiring a blog consisting of nothing but pictures of Peter, telling myself to stop lol).

All bittersweet and intriguing but then, a recent article and an older vid that I ended up coming across paved the way for that dreadful feeling at the beginning of the year to return.

This is why I said earlier that I took "temporary comfort." But at that time, I didn't know it was temporary and I didn't know what else was about to cross my path.

My heart broke for him all over again. I'm suddenly reminded of those scary pictures circulating on Facebook with a caption that reads, "the longer you stare at it, the worse it gets."

I'll start with the article, which was released on May 6th of this year (2024), featuring an interview with Sal Abruscato, Type O Negative's original drummer. Word for word, this is what he said and mind you, I'm reading this for the first time while still learning about Peter.

"He was a good guy. He was a sweet guy. He had a good heart. At the end of the day, he had a good heart, but he was also very vulnerable. He was vulnerable. He knew deep down inside becoming successful was gonna be his demise, because I'll tell you, one thing I did see from being on the outside of Type O Negative, watching the deterioration that happened over the years, people used him. He was a nice guy, he was generous, they fucking used him. And everybody was using him, even his own band members were using him, because he was a workhorse. And everybody tried the best they could. He had a very bad problem, and I know everybody tried the best they could, but it was too little too late."

That wasn't easy to read. Neither was the next part. 💔

"I remember talking to him literally two weeks before he passed, and he told me that all he had left was $3,500 bucks to his name. So he died basically in Pennsylvania alone, in a way. Yeah, he had his girlfriend, yeah, whatever, but all the way out there. Everybody dissipated when the drugs were over, 'cause he had to be sober and clean. He was clean for nine months when he died. And when he told me that, it was like... And he told me people that I'll never name. He told me that he lent money to people, that people never paid him back because he had a good heart. Friends took advantage of him. And it's a shame that it ended like that for him. Had he maybe went to the doctor's on a regular basis too, maybe he could have... But again, the damage was done. But that was the side of Pete was that he was a good guy and a prophetic artist, a prophetic lyricist. Had a vision that went three steps ahead of everyone else. A brilliant guy, very smart, very smart guy in a lot of different ways. Not like 'doctor book smart,' but smart in other ways, artistically and the way he saw things. He was very intelligent."

Vulnerability; pain and love can do that to a person. The thought of this gentle giant who was generous and a hard worker being surrounded by snakes literally makes my stomach turn. "They used him," it said.

"Deterioration that happened over the years," oh my heart. Is that part of the reason why he deteriorated? Were people just taking pieces of him until there was nothing left to take? I despise the thought of the people he was counting on attempting to drain him. Imagine if his millions of fans knew he was being hurt. There would've been an unholy uprising. His fans love him.

I want to ask if Peter Steele would've been around the right people, would success still have been his demise? If he was surrounded by protectors and healers, would the outcome have been the same? I said it in my 74th blog about Peter when I first started learning about him. Men like this, regardless of how big and tall and strong they are, need to be protected. Their bodies are hard but their hearts are fragile.

The creator of something timeless, original, and legendary had $3,500.00 left to his name. Simply criminal after everything Peter had created throughout the course of his career. I was wondering about his income though. I saw a brief home vid of him and one of his cats and I couldn't help but notice his surroundings. It wasn't what I assumed. It just didn't look like a place where an accomplished and famous singer and musician should be living. I was unknowingly soon to get detail on that.

I saw another quick vid of him talking about building a nice, big house in a beautiful wooded area a while back. I looked it up given the home vid I just saw, "that can't be the place he wanted to build." Come to find out he lived in a duplex before he died and that $3,500 would not have afforded the house he wanted to build.

I saw it when I googled where he lived before passing. I thought the entire house was his at first sight and then my jaw dropped to the floor when I read that he lived "on the right side." Peter deserved a monstrous Victorian mansion with beautiful gothic interior, with millions more in the bank to build and decorate with. Criminal and unfair to say the very least.

Aside from this article, I read that Peter was a little awkward growing up, as was I. You grow up knowing friends are often hard to come by. It probably felt good to him in adulthood to be around people and to form connections and to do good things for them, but some of those people were the wrong ones to be that kind of person with.

I can't imagine how disappointed and heartbroken he must've felt finding out many of those people were merely around for drugs and money. Just more loss and abandonment for a good heart and a pure soul. He deserved better.

Sal called him a "prophetic lyricist." Prophetic! In considering the meaning of that word, it makes the lyrics, "life is killing me" gut-wrenchingly sad.

"The way he saw things," that statement was regarding his creativity and intelligence but how did he see his life? How dark were things for him? And the million dollar question, was Peter Steele safe anywhere?

Sal said even his band mates took advantage of him. I wondered about the dynamic between them and Sal. I also wondered if perhaps that's why his last gf didn't want them talking to him before he passed. Although, I did continue to wonder if people were still accusing her of neglecting Peter. There's a lot to wonder and there's a lot of angles to wonder from too.

Wonder, wondered, wondering; it's all speculation. I wasn't there. Lots of questions are gonna accompany me to my grave, unanswered, and I better make my peace with that asap but it's hard. Not like it would change anything, but I still want to know what happened to this man and who was around him.

Who truly had his best interest at heart? Anybody? That's something else I may wonder forever. Who was fighting for him? Who was fighting for his health? Who was fighting for his life?

The whole process did leave me a little suspicious that perhaps nearly everyone around him dropped the ball at some point, in some form or fashion, maybe even when he needed them the most.

People obviously wanted things from him, but who wanted him? Who wanted him to be well? Who cared for him outside of the celebrity? Who cared for him as Peter and not the singer of Type O Negative?

I mentioned the older vid alongside the article I just responded to, but I think I'm gonna break this up into two parts because this already turned out to be quite lengthy.

All in all, his story is weighing on me and I cannot believe that I've loved his music for so long but never knew any of this, and I mean any of it. I just never knew.

And finding this out for the first time makes me wish in such a childish way that either I, or the army of his fans could just somehow go back in time and scoop him up, getting him to safety but as Sal said, "too little too late." He's gone. Still here through music and memory but physically gone, and we can never get him back to fix things for him.

He would be 62 years old if he were alive today. And if he were, I would hope he would have everything his heart could ever desire, especially true love, reverence, happiness, and inner peace.

Eating healthy and staying sober to keep himself going, maybe even a solo project so he could call the shots and have a schedule he's comfortable with. He could hire people that respect him, that will listen to him.

He might've even started a family with a good woman who loves him outside of the celebrity and will take good care of him and his children. That's what I would've advocated for, but who knows.

We can all daydream on what might have been out of desperation for comfort and solace. Comfort and solace from a grueling reality that none of us can change no matter how badly we miss him.

If it was that hard to read about, I couldn't imagine what it was like to go through.

For what it's worth, I'm so sorry Peter. RIP

The episode structure of season 2 seems to strongly mirror that of season 1.

101 introduce us to all the characters together in a single setting, with a slight emphasis on the rand’s POV. 201 reintroduces us to all the characters and how they’ve grown apart, emphasizing Rand’s absence from the others’ lives.

102 introduces new threats, The Whitecloaks and the darkness of Shadar Logoth, it ends with the heroes divided but the return of Nyneave. 202 introduces new faces that seem to be allies, Elayne and Selene, the villains are more united than before, as we see Ishamael with the Seanchan, and it ends with Nyneave leaving.

103 focuses on the heroes, separated, reeling from this loss, unsure who they can and can’t trust, and forced to make choices without moiraine’s guidance. It ends with each of them gaining new allies. 203 has nyneave and eggy separated, eggy reeling from the loss, nyneave unsure what’s even real. Mat doesn’t know where to go and falls back on Min. Rand seeks guidance from logain. Moiraine doesn’t appear at all. It ends with each of them failing to gain new allies. eggy makes enemies with Liandrin, logain refuses to teach rand, Perrin believes the wolves are of the Dark, and nyneave’s daughter doesn’t come through the final arch with her.

This parallel is the most tenuous but it makes sense to me idk

104 focuses on a powerful new threat (logain) that’s been caged while rand struggles to be a good friend and Perrin struggles to find peace with himself after his failures. It ends with the threat still caged and the reveal of nyneave’s insane power level. 204 highlights a threat that’s just been set free, (Lanfear), while moiraine struggles to be a good sister and lan struggles to find peace with himself after past failures. It ends with the reveal of who lanfear actually is, she’s momentarily beaten but she remains a threat.

Im gonna make predictions on the rest of the season now:

105 focused a lot on a newcomer to the cast who served lan’s arc, while having Rand connect with friends new and old, meanwhile egwene and Perrin are captured by whitecloaks and freed by wolves. 205 will feature Liandrin in the ways and loial under Seanchan control pretty heavily, which will set up for egwene in the next episode. Rand will attempt to burn his bridges with Moiraine, Siuan, Logain and any Cairhienin nobility bc he thinks he should run away some more and that’s the best thing for him. Oh and Selene/Lanfear, who’ll fight back. Perrin and the wolves will help the Aiel only to immediately need help from them back (mirroring Avi’s intro from the books but switching which Emonds fielder she meets first).

106 is a fully moiraine POV episode, culminating in the EF5 back together again, but mat leaves. 206 will be 70% egwene in falme. She helps nyneave and elayne escape, gets captured, becomes damane, it gets DARK AS HELL, which is why I don’t think that’ll be the whole episode… I think they’ll break it up with mat POV of him arriving in Cairhien and discovering mins betrayal and his insane luck stat. Lan’ll arrive with news from the tower that the WONDERGIRLS are missing and Perrin is captured, and mat and min will go with him to find moiraine and Rand.

107 and 108 each have flashbacks to the Aiel war and the age of legends respectively. We basically get the ways, calm in Fal Dara, Mo and Rand go off alone, they find the Eye, then final battles for all. 207 will open with a flashback to Mo and Siuan seeing the vision of when the dragon reborn’s birth. Present day we get rand Flickering the Cairhien group to Falme. It’s not as long of a timeskip as in the books because we’ve already had such big timeskips in the show already. Perrin reunites with Ingtar and drama ensues. avi joins nyn and elayne. Avi and elayne have love at first sight. 208 has another lews therin cold open, maybe the book one prologue maybe not idk. From there we get a big battle sequence that fuses elements of books 2 and 3’s climaxes with some twists along the way that make sense for how the show has changed things idk. But rand is in the sky and Mat blows the horn. by the end Ishy will be super dead, masema will be worshipping rand and avi will have told rand that he comes with the Dawn and needs to come to the Waste. Mo might even be channeling again, but her and her Dragon will not learn their lesson and will try to go to the waste alone. Mat and eggy manage to join but are super pissed at Rand for faking his death for like a year and trying to leave again. Perrin, upon realizing he’s been left, resolve to return to the two rivers. One of Alanna’s warders, idc which one, dies in the big battle and she’s pissed about it. She gotta take elayne back to the tower but she’s met rand by this point and has her eye on him as a replacement. Elayne has eyes on rand too but in a more wholesome “I wanna be part of this EF5 friendgroup and mayyyyyybe have a 3way with the Aiel lady and the dragon reborn” way. Nyneave and lan will get grouped together but idk if they’ll end up with Perrin in the two rivers or if being powerless against the Seanchan will convince nyneave that there’s good she can do in the Tower.

Post credit scene of lanfear still at large. The end.

i’ve been away from this beloved hellscape for the most part for like a month. life is just so busy! the queue has been chugging along but tumblr has been more like stop by for 5 minutes, see a post and put it in drafts to tag later, never actually get it tagged, come back 3 days later and drop 2 more reblogs into drafts, fail to add anything to the queue, rinse and repeat. my drafts folder usually has 5-10 posts in it. right now? 206. help.

CCAP or CCRAP- The Vanity Metrics of Comprehensive Community Action Program

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Comprehensive Community Action Program (CCAP), it is a private Rhode Island non-profit agency that provides a multitude of services to those in need. CCAP is a great resource for a vast majority of essential needs, including housing, healthcare, education, social services and more. Since late 1965, CCAP (formally Cranston Comprehensive Action Program) has been providing resources and benefiting the lives of thousands and thousands of Rhode Islanders. Taken directly from the CCAP website, their mission statement is boldly written, “to empower all people and communities, challenged by poverty as well as social and cultural barriers, through advocacy, education, and access to high quality health and human services” (https://www.comcap.org/about-us/history/).

As a community program, CCAP benefits greatly from social media marketing and communication to make their programs well known. A vanity metric that is extremely easy to follow from CCAP is their Facebook page like and follow count. On CCAP's Official Learn to Earn Facebook account, they currently have 981 likes, and 1.4K followers. On CCAP’s second Facebook page Comprehensive Community Action Program, Inc., they have 3.3k likes, and 3.5k followers. Lastly, on Ccap’s (unlinkable) inactive account, they have 2.4K friends. On Facebook, liking a page is virtually equivalent to publicly showing your support for an organization or individual- therefore having roughly 4,281 public supporters on one platform alone, and over 7,000 friends. Beyond CCAP like and follower count, another vanity metric attainable via their Facebook is the number of shares and engagement their “flyers” receive. On popular program flyers, such as a “Paid Intro to Cosmetology Training” for individuals aged 14-17, it received 206 shares. Similarly, other flyers such as a WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) program received 130 shares, multiple summer employment flyers received up to 534 shares, and a “Free Teacher Assistant Training Program” gained a large traction, receiving over 1,300 shares (all of which is posted on CCAP Learn to Earn). Their other main social media platform includes their Instagram, comcapri, focused primarily on social services, events and resources. On Comcapri, they have a total of 388 followers, and on average receive under 20 likes per post. On their alternate employment, training and education based alternate employment, training and education based Instagram, they have a total of 271 followers, this page similarly receives under 20 likes per post. Other CCAP platforms include a inactive TikTok, with 555 followers and a total of 6,154 likes for, an inactive CCAP Youtube account, hosting 11 followers and a whopping total of 913 views within 10 years of uploading; as well as an inactive X (former Twitter), with 828 followers. Realistically, if all inactive page followers were added up, they would have at least 3,800 more people actively engaged.

After studying the vanity metrics of a popular Rhode Island resource hub, concern has crept over me. With an agency that primarily communicates via social media postings, there are a ton of inactive accounts hosting hundreds of people. The issue with these accounts is the amount of people following them that may think CCAP is no longer providing resources. One way I believe CCAP can improve their metrics and overall communication process is to clean up their social media accounts. This can be done in two ways. The first way CCAP’s social media can be cleaned up would be by reactivating their accounts and using them all to post resources and information. With reactivating their The second way would be deleting their inactive social media accounts, or making a new post informing users to follow their active pages. This can channel some of their users on inactive pages to their newer platforms, therefore only having to focus on one account. With a minimal amount of active accounts, social media can become a priority again to CCAP, allowing information to be frequently updated and posted for all to see. With more emphasis on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, more information could be distributed. On both Facebook and Instagram, CCAP could incorporate Sponsored Posts, allowing for more awareness of the non-profit, as well as an increase of engagement and page views, ect. This is easy as both platforms are interlinked Meta platforms, allowing for both platforms to update simultaneously. According to SocialPilot in April of 2023, Facebook Ads alone had the potential to reach about 2.249 billion users- just imagine 2024’s user reach. With a larger outreach, this would increase views, likes and more- potentially increasing the metrics in a drastic manner. Should CCAP be incapable of increasing their metrics internally, another way to improve this could be CCAP hiring a social media analytics employee. An outsourced analytics specialist can study and advance metrics, in turn perfect platforms and increase the overall experience for CCAP and its community. With hiring from outside companies the nonprofit will spend more money, but may be able to expand their communication and allocate more resources to people in need.

When we are studying metrics, the easiest source is generally the official website. The first source I will be using is CCAP's Official Website. Fundraising and donations- According to CCAP, their annual funding is estimated at about 41 million, accumulated from grants, government and several large donors. Just a few of which include Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island, CVS Health, Navigant and Blue Cross Blue Shield. CCAP also asks for volunteers in many aspects, ranging from “gifts of stock”, hosting a house party, or forming funding via “dress down days” where donations are sent to CCAP. Channel metric: Website traffic- After opening quite a few accounts on various websites, I was able to get the website traffic information for the months of August and September of 2024. According to SEMRUSH, in August, CCAP’s website received 5.2k visits and in September they received 2.8k visits. This is a total loss of 2.4k within the span of two months. Behavioral metric: Closely related to the advanced metric example, my behavioral metric, bounce rate, was also sourced from SEMRUSH. The bounce rate, also known as the amount of users who leave a website with no action performed, is a rising concern for CCAP’s official website. According to August 2024, the noted bounce rate was 0%, then increased in September to 32.29%. This is an increase of 100% bounce rate. My second platform I will be telling the metrics for will be CCAP’s most active Facebook, CCAP Learn to Earn. On this account, they consistently post advanced training opportunities to their 1.4k followers. Advanced metric: Customer segmentation is the act of putting consumers into separate categories to facilitate the market and speak to specific people. An example of segmentation for CCAP is the use of Tiktok. Tiktok is a social media platform used primarily by younger generations. It is perfect that CCAP uses this platform, as they offer many resources to people aged fourteen through twenty-six. Another segment that CCAP is easily able to market to is the older demographic of Facebook. With CCAP showing an abundance of information to the younger generations parents, aunts, uncles and family they are able to inform a lot of people about potential opportunities. Channel metric: The comments on platforms such as Facebook and Tiktok can be considered channel metrics. For example, you are able to generally gauge how individuals feel about certain posts and information given. For example, on various FB flyers, many individuals comment things like “@somebody 14-17!!!”, “@somebody Are you interested” and more. On Tiktok, comments read things like “This is great”. When we look at comments on these pages, we often see an abundance or a lack, however this is communication within itself. Closely related to channel metrics, we will be looking at user ratings and feedback for the behavioral metric. On CCAP Comprehensive Community Action Program, Inc. FB, we can see a public rating provided via their users showing a 94% recommendation. This 94% was generated from about 27 users. It may be noted that these may not be credible sources as Facebook ratings are usually plagued by scammers.

NYC Council Proposes Essential Narcan Training for Correctional Officers Amid Rising Overdose Rates

A legislative hearing on criminal justice reform held on September 27, 2024, focused on the critical need for enhanced training and resources for correctional officers addressing opioid overdoses in New York City jails. The proposed bill, known as Intro 206-A, aims to ensure that all correctional officers are trained in the administration of Narcan, an opioid antagonist that can rapidly reverse drug overdoses, and to mandate that they carry Narcan while on duty.

Council Member Shahana Hanif spearheaded the legislation, citing alarming statistics from previous hearings. Approximately 9% of correctional officers remain untrained in using Narcan, despite its potential to save lives. The bill proposes that training not only be mandatory for officers but also offered to incarcerated individuals upon request. Additional provisions in the proposed legislation include requiring officers to administer Narcan during overdose incidents, creating operational protocols that echo best practices from other jurisdictions. Notably, the current policy only stocks Narcan at certain posts, leading to operational challenges when immediate response is necessary. Furthermore, the bill mandates the distribution of overdose prevention kits to individuals being released from correctional custody, as studies indicate that the risk of overdose spikes in the days following release.

This reform effort comes as reports from public defender organizations detail the frequency of overdoses occurring shortly after individuals leave facilities like Rikers Island. due to believing she looked like a fucking alien during high school (which we know its not true), she developed a personality that’s very charming and agreeable with people because it was the only way she could approach girls

anyways, she eventually grew out of all that bUT the writing and refined her personality a little. she’s less of an obnoxious person and more of a dry humor but still v approachable kinda gal. she has only written one book so far and it’s surprisingly doing well?? though she def has room to improve

she went to nyu for english literature (cliche, i know) and during that time taylor really exceeded expectations with her essays and chronics and the polished but humorous kind of way she writes. sort of a tongue in cheek kinda thing where even her most difficult professors found charming yk

her move to seattle three years ago was due to a job offer for writing for the seattle times, and she writes little chronics every now and then while she’s working on what should be her next book but we don’t know if it will ever see the light of day
