I awoke this morning, channeling Key XIV for the Arboretum Mysticum: "Samech is the prop upon which the veil of Paroketh hangs. See the veil in its many-hued refraction of individuality. Seek the wholeness through the study of its parts. I cannot thank the team @kleinfeldbridal enough for helping me envision and achieve this Full Cape Fantasy of Maximum WoodNymph Royalty. The Crown? The Epaulettes? The Belt? The Cape? Each altered and added and adorned without judgement! Then SHABAM! A bridal outfit was born!!!! I've never felt SO GOOD in something so glamorous. I could not have done it without the open-minded and open-hearts of everyone involved.

In particular, my glorious team lead @samantharoberts and amazing consultant @jmcalvanah who literally held my hand as we turned what was once a Vest into a Cape and manifested this happy little Royal Fairy Prince.

Diversity & Why to Teach Your Children About it at a Young Age

#BlackAugust originated from Los Angeles in the 1970's from the prison systems. Back in 1960, one of the most outspoken voices on anti-racism was a man named George Jackson. Jackson was sentenced to one year in prison for allegedly stealing $70 from a gas station in LA. While incarcerated he studied famous scholars such as Karl Marx and Eric Cummins, who wrote "The Rise and Fall of California's Radical Prison Movement". He began writing papers and letters regarding his rage and frustration over systemic racism and his imprisonment. 

Fast-forward to August 1971, George was imprisoned once again, only this time he used a gun to take hostage of a prison guard to free him and his fellow inmates. In all of the chaos Jackson was killed, along with a few other guards and inmates. After this, prison inmates began commemorating Jackson for his incredible efforts against the system; this later became known as #BlackAugust. With the ending of August, we reflect and learn about the legacies of the Black revolutionaries, and rededicate ourselves to prolonged struggles against systemic oppression and white supremacy. As we learn more about this movement, I believe it's essential that we share these stories and lessons with our friends, family and most importantly, children and youth. It has been discovered that children as young as 2 years old begin noticing the differences in those around them. 

LuAnna Hoover, an instructor of Family Studies and Human Services, also points out that the 2 year mark is a critical time for toddlers, because that's when they begin to form attitudes based on significant others, such as parents and teachers. Hoover also notes that since children do lot's of playing at these young ages, that's also when they learn and absorb the most information. As children play, they are acting out different life experiences and trying on many different roles. Learning about diversity is so important because children, youth, and even some adults, need to learn to respect everyone and accept their differences, but also understand that at the end of the day, were all alike. By following these lessons, children's emotional and social development are affected. When kids learn to respect each other's differences, aggressive and violent behaviours are prevented. Because we live in a global society, and things like media, internet and technology are becoming implemented within more and more kids lives, children are much more aware of what's happening around them compared to previous generations. We need to take this time to teach our kids and those around us that diversity is a beautiful thing and makes life much more interesting. If we were all the same, life would just be boring! This #BlackAugust, let's reflect on how we can do better for the next generation and spread awareness on these movements.

Finding the center. Leaving the nest of House of Intuition has been a very exciting and also terrifying process. Trying to stay flying when I don't know where I'm going to land, and days string together with so much unknown. While the teachings have continued, I have not done any readings or Middle Pillar healings for clients for a month now. I know my people are ready for me to get back to work, and so am I! After looking at different neighborhoods in Los Angeles to set up our school, I have found extremely drawn to the Arts District. This thriving, creative center feels like the right place for us to put down roots.
