What's the worst that can happen when two evil wizards are on an ultimatum to perform as many evil deeds imaginable just before the start of the New Year? Well, they could come up with the Wunschpunsch. Now only their two familiars can stop them…

Woah what's this? More about the project and Making Of under the cut!

“Wunschpunsch” is my thesis movie and a trailer for the children’s book “Der satanarchäolügenialkohöllische Wunschpunsch” by Michael Ende. Yes, that is the real title. The project includes creating the overall visual design, the storyboard and 2D animation.

For the music I am using the song 'No. 3' by Cosmo Sheldrake used with kind permission of the artist. An amazing artist, please look up his work and don't miss the chance to see him live at one of his cozy concerts!

mattel: SHE IS A VERY COOL AND FIERCE FASHION DESIGNER WHO ALSO LIKES CASKET BALL!!!!

(source: clawdeen having a whole fashion designer play set, music videos mentioning again that she’s a fashion designer and never anything about books, nick introducing her as just a monster book nerd [which is not brought up like at all afterwards in the series 😅]… to be fair scaradise comes with a book and that’s mattel)

For those of you that were curious, here's the animation I did for the intro on its own!

Another OpenToonz thing... this time I utilized keyframes which does make a difference with how smooth the animation is.

(I also managed to get an image in the program for the first time and I LOVE how that looks so I will for sure utilize it in the future.)

If you are a professional animator and were to look at the keyframe placement however you may be sick. (I'm aware there's an easier way to do it... I just didn't have the time to figure it out.)

As much as I love solely hand-drawn animation I would also like to try out keyframes and 2D rigging eventually so hopefully I can update on that!

The intro was just released! I animated this whole thing in about 3 weeks.

Backgrounds were painted by my coworker Jackie Kim, and Emily Park helped me clean up and color the rough animation. The baddie lineup animation was the most fun I had in a while.

Welcome to my blog!

My name is Marigold, and I am an animator and artist, currently working on my own indie animated series called Infinite Powers!

Infinite Powers follows the story of Rai, an adopted daughter of the witch Oracle. Despite her curse limiting what she can do, Rai is still determined to use magic and find out what she really wants in life.

So far, the first episode is set to release in 2025! I animate it all by myself, so it takes a bit to get it done!
