It is Day 28 of my #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge and today's weird obsession is sloths. It's not really that weird since sloths have become pretty popular but why it's weird to me is I didn't use to care about sloths and then all of a sudden I was in love with them. I love all animals so I did already love sloths but now I am obsessed. I am so obsessed that my mom sends me sloth pictures on Facebook all the time. #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge #sloths

Hello! It is day 1 of my new 30 Day Challenge: Weird Obsessions. So for 30 days I will post about a weird obsession I have because I have a lot of them. So.... Day 1: Stationary. More specifically pens. I am obsessed with pens, especially fountain pens. My friend Jenna got me into using fountain pens and I prefer them over ballpoint now. But I have a huge collection of odd and strange pens that work and don't work. I am the person who can spend hours in the pen aisle at an office supplies store and not care. I love pens. I currently own 5 fountain pens. I have 3 Pilot Kakunos (blue, green, lavender), one Lamy Safari (dark lilac), and one TWSBI Eco (Black). The TWSBI was my favorite until it fell apart when I was cleaning it and now it won't go back together. #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge #stationary #pens #fountainpens

It is the 30th and final day of my #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge and my last weird obsession is BOOKS!!! Ok, this isn't actually weird but I ended up deleting some of the ones on my list for different reasons and couldn't think of my final one. Obviously, I love books. Hence, my account. I've loved books since before I could actually read them myself. They are everything to me. They are such an important part of my life and a huge part of my family. My family bonds over reading and sharing books. It's how I make my closest friends is through books. They are just essential to my existence and I can't imagine life without them. So this has been an interesting 30 days of me just sharing weird things I am obsessed with. I hope this helps you guys learn more about me and I hope you guys take the opportunity to do something like this or you can just make one long list of 30 or less (or more if you can) things you're obsessed with and share them with me. Thank you for joining me on these 30 days and I hope to see you guys share your obsessions as well. Have a weird and beautiful day! #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge #books #bookdragon #reader

It is now Day 29 of my #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge only one more day left. Today's weird obsession is witches. I converted to Paganism when I as about 16 after doing a lot of research and talking to my sisters who are also pagan. I have always had a fascination with witches. I remember growing up watching Moonstruck and Halloweentown and just wanting to be a witch. Then Harry Potter came out and that also heightened my love for witches and magick. I have always felt drawn to it. And I am willing to talk to people about my beliefs and try to straighten out misconceptions of witches and pagans and Wiccans. But yeah I an obsessed with witches and witchcraft. But now I don't like the movie The Craft. I prefer Practical Magic. #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge #witches

It is now Day 27 of my #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge and my 27th weird obsession is old or foreign instruments. I love music of all kinds and I find the instruments that make them to be magical tools. But I am very very fascinated with instruments that were used in the past as well as new ones. I also really love foreign instruments because their so different and carry so much history. Pictured is a nyckelharpa by Bernt Södergârd from 1981 which you can find on The Museum of Curious Instruments sight. A nyckelharpa is a traditional Swedish instrument that date back to approximately 1350. Nyckelharpa means "keyed fiddle" or more literally "keyed harp" and the plural is "nyckelharpor." #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge #oldinstruments #foreigninstruments

It is Day 26 of my #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge and today's weird obsession is ghost hunting. I love ghost hunting. It's one of the few hobbies that my whole family shares. I started ghost hunting at the age of 16 or 17 and I have been obsessed since. I haven't been able to ghost hunt since I started college but I would love to get back into it. #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge #ghosthunting

It is now Day 25 of my #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge and today's weird obsession is learning about strange or rare diseazes/illnesses. I honestly don't know why. Like I just like too look up facts about diseases like Progeria, Parkinson's, bubonic plague, chlamydia, Werewolf syndrome, etc. The one I know the most about is Progeria. This one I know is weird. #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge #diseases

It is now Day 24 of my #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge and today's weird obsession isn't really weird but I am obsessed with the French painter Henri de Toulouse-Latrec. My obsession with him started in 8th grade when I had to recreate his poster Jane Avril Jardin de Paris for the Moulin Rouge. I hated to making art when I was younger but this poster he did was so unique and quite simple enough that I enjoyed recreating it. I've been in love with his work. Toulouse-Latrec had (at the time) an unknown disease of the bone that kept his legs from growing. It is now called Toulouse-Latrec syndrome. It was caused by inbreeding due to his parents being first cousins. He fractured both his legs and they never healed properly. He grew to be about 4' 8" or 1.42 m tall. He also had other health issues which lead to him drinking and on September 9, 1901 at the age of 36, he died from complications from alcoholism and syphilis. He was a character in the 2001 film production Moulin Rouge played by John Leguizamo. Pictured here is my favorite painting by him (and his most famous one) "At the Moulin Rouge" 1892. #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge #HenrideToulouseLatrec

It is Day 23 of my #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge and today's weird obsession is languages specifically dead languages. I love learning new languages. Currently on DuoLingo, I am learning Irish, German, French, Spanish, and Japanese but I have started awhile ago Swahili, Italian, Welsh, and Hungarian but I just had to stop because that is too many languages at once. I took three years of Latin in high school and one year of Spanish. I love dead languages because it's a part of history and you can learn so much from a civilization just from their language. Translation of the photo: "You're mother is a dead language!" #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge #languages #deadlanguages

It is Day 22 of my #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge and today's obsession is strange facts. I love filling my head basically with useless and strange facts like the one above or facts like from 1912 to 1948, painting was an Olympic event or the Mona Lisa has no visible eyelashes or eyebrows but it was found that it was painted with them but they disappeared due to overcleaning. My favorite strange fact is that humans can sneeze at speeds up to 100 mph. #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge #strangefacts

Day 21 of my #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge is here and today's weird obsession is cellphone design. I loved the early 2000s because cellphones kept evolving and changing and had some really awesome designs. Now that its the smartphone age the designs are pretty much the same. But I've always liked seeing the different ways cellphone makers made the cellphones using the same components. Like if you look at these three pictures, how these different phones have the same parts and accessories but they are completely different phones. Idk why but that is super interesting to me. Featured phones are the Motorola Sidekick Slide, the Samsung U750, and the LG Lotus. #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge #cellphones #design

It is now Day 20 of my #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge and my 20th weird obsession is water. So I am a water sign and I always get my energy from water. As a kid I loved playing in the water no matter the temperature and I loved dancing in the rain, I still do actually. The sound of tricking or rushing water relaxes me. My college's campus has a creek that runs through it and I will go out and listen to it run when I'm feeling depressed or stressed and it relaxes me. I was convinced as a kid that I was a mermaid that hadn't grown my tail yet. I'm still waiting for that tail. Photo: The Danube River is Europe. #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge #water

Day 19 of my #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge is here!!! And today my weird obsession is etymology. Etymology (as stated) is the study of words and their means throughout history. And I just find it gosh darn fascinating. I love learning where a word comes from and when it was used and how history has changed it. Words hold so much power and history that I just can't help but find them fascinating. #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge #etymology #words

It is now Day 18 of my #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge and for my 18th weird obsession I'm going to talk about metal music. I use to hate metal with a fiery passion but thanks to my best friend from high school, I have actually now grown to love it and it's what I listen to 98% of the time. I'm still new to metal so I am not skilled in recognizing different types right off of the bat and I don't know a lot of bands but that's ok I'm still learning. So far my favorite type of metal is symphonic metal. This includes Within Temptation, Nightwish, Epica, Xandria, and Amaranthe. My two most listened to metal bands are Within Temptation and Trivium (pictured). If you guys have any recommendations, I would love to check them out. Trivium design cred to sheldon345 from DeviantArt. #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge #metal #music

Day 17 of my #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge is here!! And my 17th weird obsession is fairy tales. I don't just like fairy tales, I LOVE fairy tales!! Every since I was a wee little baby, I have loved fairy tales. I am 21 years old and I still read fairy tales as I did when I was a child. I love them and I also love retellings of them. My favorite retellings are Cameron Dokey's retellings in her books Once and Kissed. I took a fairy tale class last year at college and it was my favorite class ever. I just....can't express how much I love fairy tales. #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge #fairytales

It is now day 16 of my #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge and for my 16th weird obsession I chose gothic architecture. I am actually very interested in architecture. It's one of my favorite things to look at when sightseeing and gothic is my favorite style. Gothic is just so detailed and intricate and there is just so many pieces that are beautiful by themselves but together make this magnificent structure that is just pure art. #30WeirdObsessionsChallenge #gothicarchitecture
